00:06So we've been working on a bike for a couple years now.
00:11She doesn't need to be led around somebody just as crazy or crazier than she is.

00:19We're going to take that bike out and build it for Joan.

01:09Yes, that's been there for two years.
01:11So we've been working on a bike for a couple years now, and we keep tinkering with it.
01:15And finally, we had the opportunity to turn it into something really cool.
01:18So Paul decided to take what we already started and use it and finish it up, and we're going to
01:23surprise Joan with it.
01:24So this is the bike.
01:25Oh, no, no, no.
01:26You can see how much dust it's on.
01:27I've been in the back room for a couple years.
01:29This is the one my wife's always saying, when are you going to do my chopper?
01:32When are you going to do my chopper?
01:33So we have time now.
01:36We're pretty caught up.
01:37She's going to come in later.
01:39This is going to be a surprise for Saturday party.
01:42She doesn't know it, so she's going to come in and help me work on the bike a little bit.
01:46At least I think she's going to do that.
01:48She's bringing her girlfriend.
01:49That's going to be a huge distraction.
01:52Also, I'll be giving her a surprise wedding ring.
01:55I met Joanie Kaye because I was looking for a dog, and through somebody else, they said,
02:02well, they know this lady that runs the shelter, and they have a mastiff there.
02:10And of course, they said, well, they're going to put it down.
02:13And as soon as I heard that, it was like, no, I'll take the dog, you know?
02:16And that's pretty much how we met, you know?
02:18And then I started working at the shelter.
02:20I dropped the tree on her car, and I got her telephone number.
02:27So, yeah, dropping the tree on the car paid off.
02:34I just bought new tires and new wheels for this.
02:36Oh, I saw those.
02:37I didn't know what you were doing.
02:38That's good.
02:39I don't know if this pacing is going to be right.

04:00so we're really fortunate to have a painter right next to our shop he he works for Burke and does
04:08most of his paint but he's done quite a bit of paint for us yeah you mentioned one scallop so
04:14I mean there's three there's two right here right yeah I think we got three right here three or two
04:20the yellow is yellow is gonna be blue right here that's to be white confused yeah whatever's open
04:30will be the white this will be white correct within within that that area will be white so so this

04:41is all gonna be white correct okay so I can bring the scallops to the side here maybe do two
04:49more if
04:49you want full scallops I'll have nice blue it is a nice yeah very nice you want me put a
04:55probe in
04:55that too just a real light pearl is stay this color but out in the Sun I have a mess

05:06think it'll look really nice as a surprise bike it's the one that she's been saying well where's my bug
05:14with my custom bike gonna be done so it's gonna be done I picked the colors I think she'll love

05:24this bike and Joan still does not know that that's her bike
05:38so Stacy is a friend of Paul and Jones and myself we've known her for years I met her at
05:42Gulch Gym in Newburgh 20 30 years ago and is always around and doing stuff with us and in our
05:48family
05:48groupings and friendship groupings so it's gonna be fun to have her here working on the bike
06:031130 out in her car 1130 she got to go further than you do
06:07yeah and she still didn't have time to do her hair I don't want to do it she didn't do
06:11her
06:12makeup you're gonna get your hair dirt you're gonna get your hands dirty why am I getting my
06:16hands dirty shut up we just stopped to visit you hi honey hi honey you know I kiss me on
06:24the lips no
06:26oh it's your furry mustache and needs a haircut for about three months I used to have this later
06:32at Houston to trim my yeah I need the ratchet you need the ratchet Jim over there I gave it

06:39this is the wrong ratchet this is gonna become a bike and that's the wrong one this is a bike

06:47customer this is the last bike we got to do we had we were this is like the sixth bike

07:14tell you how I met this lady here Stacy so Stacy is just really a true close friend she does
07:22the same
07:22thing I do she does some time still up in New York and a couple weeks down here it takes
07:27a little while
07:28to get to know Stacy she's brutally honest which is hilarious but she's been close with Paul literally
07:35since they're like 18 so when I got divorced with my first wife I started going to gold's gym she
07:43was 16
07:44I just don't interrupt me okay she thinks she was 16 right I don't know how old I was I
07:51was young
07:54and uh she had a boyfriend she had a boyfriend um yeah which boyfriend was I was 19 oh you
08:08get
08:08emotional yeah I was 19 yeah yeah that was the how I'm setting up boyfriend that was my best friend
08:13ever I miss a couple of years ago Stacy had uh to go out of town and Jimmy was fighting
08:30kidney disease
08:32so I stopped by he was looking for some supplements that we all take um in the morning and I
08:37said hey
08:38Jim we have to uh pay a time for dinner and he said let's do 6 30 and I can't
08:43wait for you to meet
08:44the uh dogs that are telling you all about her she wants to volunteer at the shelter and Jimmy was
08:50probably the toughest guy I knew like the truest friend I think Paul's had and I went to the office
08:56and uh I just said okay we'll do 6 30 at the following restaurant pulled away and Stacy called me
09:04and
09:04she said Jimmy fell off the deck I was like what do you mean I said I'm on my way
09:10and knowing Jimmy
09:11was a pretty proud guy was really a big dude I thought like he fell so I didn't want to
09:16call an
09:16ambulance or anything because he'd be mad like he'd be really mad unfortunately Jimmy had gotten a call
09:23and he got a call from the hospital and whatever they told him uh he walked out on the deck
09:30and took
09:30his life so I had to make that call to Stacy so as funny and crazy and loving um as
09:39Stacy is uh we go
09:42deep the amazing thing about Stacy is that they were like together since they were like 18 or 19.
09:48she's resilient she never holds back even when you want her to so she's really hilarious in a lot of
09:57ways but our relationship is deep you know we share tough times but she can handle Paul better than
10:05anybody I know um when Paul's being Paul Stacy puts Paul in his place like nobody I've ever seen
10:15and uh their relationship has a truly special bond because of Jimmy and I think just because they go
10:21back since she was 18 years old she's a gym rat just like him and uh they spent a lot
10:26of time together
10:27so I think she's fun I think we should have more of her on the show anyhow okay so um
10:34I don't know
10:36I was going there for a while she had a boyfriend and she wanted to marry me
10:42change that subject real quick she wanted to marry she wanted to marry me yeah yeah I followed you
10:49around the gym I drove you nuts for probably 20 years I don't even know how I'm not married to

10:54yet or my third ex-wife I felt that you were too old she was too old for me yeah
10:59yeah she was too old
11:01for me that's why I'm helping him change his diaper now yeah go ahead all right what are we doing

11:07are we doing since you got them to help you out I'm gonna go check on paint help but what

11:12so these two can work on it yeah okay this will be interesting what am I working on you yell

11:36a part of my life I mean it's my world he's in it but at the same instance I deal
11:42with him still because
11:44he doesn't go away no matter how many years later it is he doesn't go away before fame during fame

13:27I never changed it do I look like I changed tires she's totally off the hook she's a great person
13:34she's the best hearted person she loves animals uh but she's nuts but I think that's why we get

13:48me she don't like you Paul and I built my first bike pretty good right I mean it was crooked
13:54but
13:55it's not my fault his fault and we got to undo everything we did well Joni's been one of my

14:00friends for I don't know how long they're together now I didn't do her hair today so if anyone has
14:05any
14:05critique on it it wasn't my work just so you know yeah it was it was good to see her
14:09and it was good
14:10to see her leave we were way up I guess we probably should have started with the budget before we
14:15set
14:17yeah yeah so yesterday I had uh Joan and uh Stacy here which was a complete a complete interruption
14:25you know Al's here today and I got Drew here uh we're gonna kind of give it the old overhaul
14:30we
14:31switched out the wheels and put new wheels on there and switch out the the rotors and stuff like that
14:36but
14:36we're gonna have to take that back wheel over there but off of there and change the system because
14:41the one that came with that like a real junk system so that's got to be changed we can't
14:48center out the wheel with that the way it is and so that'll be the first thing that we'll work
14:52on is
14:52getting that wheel centered up and get that front end on I'll be he's already looking at the wiring so
14:59he's already having a fit they're like what's this so we'll talk about tighten everything up today
15:07if you guys want to put the front end on right not the front end on can or you got
15:12to clean that
15:13wiring up for or whatever you want to do but what does he want to do put the front end
15:17on yeah but
15:19uh all right let's take this ax out and stuff ready for it
15:39you want to log it down or you want to wait to see if you need that spacer let's lock
15:44it down in
15:44in case we get lucky
15:45in my senior year my I got like suspended I don't know how many times smoking in the bathroom everything
16:14so they said they said you're not going to graduate you know we're not going to yeah so
16:19they asked my dad to come to he comes to the school and we went down into the his office
16:25and
16:25the principal said uh so you know I'm sorry to tell you that uh your son's not going to graduate
16:31this
16:32year and my father looked at him for a second he said listen he said I don't give a if
16:38he stays
16:39here until he has a beer he's graduating I graduated yeah go ahead Jim oh go ahead Jim
17:01so we were working Paul and I were working on the rear end of Joan's bike it had a different
17:05mounting system for the caliper in the back which mounts directly to a bracket on the frame that's
17:10welded there so when we switched the rims out uh and modified some of the sizing in the back there
17:16were some issues with it so we had to figure out what we were going to do and how we
17:19were going to
17:20remedy it I wanted to get that free run and not all the way over there and then we can
17:24look and see
17:24it should work you know what I mean yep by the way it's not going to work Jim it's a
17:29bad attitude
17:30well it didn't work did it it did work we we we got the new brake and it's going to
17:35work so you know
17:36it'll work see it's just like a wife the first one didn't so you try it so yeah that one
17:41didn't work
17:42that one didn't work so so look a bit right yeah that'll work Paul and I finally got the tire
17:48centered
17:49and the caliper spacing set up so we're going so we're gonna uh mount this bracket to lock everything
17:55in place Drew's going to throw some tacks on it and we should be good to go I'll only take
18:11a second
18:12to put the back tire in the front end knots yeah and we were able to figure that out put
18:18it back
18:18together after taking it apart a couple times it fit perfect the rear fender went on there was no issues
18:24there which is very fortunate so we're going to be moving forward and I think we'll be able to finish
18:28this on time I think we had a pretty good day today you know little curves here in uh this
18:35afternoon
18:35with the rear tire and the usual stuff I guess but uh we're at the point we're starting to button
18:42it up
18:42uh I think that uh tomorrow we'll probably have it uh up and running and get out on the road
18:48and take
18:48a test run you know it's been a male-dominated industry for quite some time I love to see you
18:54know women showing their talents and uh it's our time between Casey with the artistry uh Jen working
19:01on the Eagle Fran and everything she does for the community Joan coming in on it uh it's been a
19:07lot of
19:07women it's great to be able to tell their stories and share what they do with everybody else I liked
19:12it
19:12before you finished it so I took this idea from a Temptations album cover it was from a live show
19:20Temptations yeah and then I uh incorporated Abbey Road and then there's six for your six kids and then
19:29if you look up in the top there's 15 bulbs but only 13 are lit up for your 13 pets
19:36and then you
19:37you look in each there's a couple little uh stars in there that are silver leaf those are for your
19:43grandkids there's seven of them and then you have one big star right up at the front for Joan
19:48for Jim for Joan I thought you said for Jim I was gonna say give me the grinder he's special
19:55but not
19:56that kind of special you know what I mean good job glad you like it thank you so much thanks

20:04giving me the opportunity I don't I don't hug anyone either so it'll never happen again it's just a
20:12moment it was our moment got to meet Paul and you know when he came in for lunch and stuff
20:20like that
20:20and uh just so happens that I apparently am the only one who can get his orders right when he
20:27first
20:27started coming in so I became his kind of day-to-day bartender to make sure his food was always
20:32right
20:33I've known her for quite some time and knew she was an amazing artist so it was a no-brainer
20:37to
20:37bring her in on this the design is insane she's got the colors and the concept Paul had mentioned
20:42to her she put her own twist on it she put some numbers in there which represent Paul and Joan
20:47and
20:47their families and their animals which only people who know the story are gonna recognize otherwise
20:51they're just gonna think it's a cool piece of the artwork she knocked it out it's really cool to
20:56you know go from watching him on TV to knowing him as a person and yeah you can't really judge

21:02book by what you see on TV because he's a big old teddy bear so Paul called me and asked
21:08me to come
21:08to Florida to help pick out a ring for my mom he had never gotten her ring yet but they've
21:13been
21:13married for a long time so he really wanted to get her a ring especially because he's building a bike
21:18for her too and he wants to surprise her with both at the same time so he asked me to
21:22come down take a
21:23look at the bike make sure everything looks good what that she would like it and help to pick out
21:27the
21:27ring that she would like do you have any idea what you're doing nope nothing you have not a clue
21:33yeah kinda you know what size she wears five five and a half yep that's a guy with a Colleen

23:56went ring shopping today we probably should have done this a little bit better we probably should
24:00have started with a budget when we walked in that room's got to be boo-koo box with a guess

24:23thousand dollars we were way off I guess we probably should have started with the budget
24:29yeah so we ended up going from a five or six carat diamond down to just under a three carat

24:35and got a really nice setting they gave us a great price it ended up working out really well
24:39but it's nice mm-hmm yeah that's beautiful and it's less gaudy is what you or would you call it

25:51one piece of the other one where's christian at yeah so I just think we had a lot in common
25:58Al doesn't like many people pretty much nobody probably nobody so he likes me I don't really care
26:06if he likes anybody else he likes dogs I like dogs that clutch moving at home clutch no well I
26:14gotta go
26:14in or out out out gotta go out out out problems with the primary and the clutch not working right
26:21uh couldn't get the clutch adjusted it was too too heavy Alan is like he's just turn aces he just

26:29not stop at anything you know and he couldn't figure it out neither let me see if I have another

26:35you just zipped it off thing by all right well I guess I don't know you have another basket now

26:41gotta take the whole clutch part again right well yeah and the belt yeah you're painting the
26:47ended up taking it all off throwing it away and putting a whole different setup from BDL on it
26:53we're trying to get it get it all buttoned up here we ran into a problem with the belt drive
26:57and the
26:58clutch not not adjusting right um so we ended up trashing that and we got a BDL clutch that
27:05we're putting in now and uh we'll put that on after lunch and hopefully problems we had will go
27:11away well you probably you're probably already in already you're already in yeah I know but it was the
27:18same thing with the other one I mean we can't I can hardly I definitely not hitting the clutch now
27:23I'm not hitting the other side I don't believe so everything's new that even the nut everything that
27:31holds it everything is new we didn't use one piece of the other one where's Christian that yeah
27:40they keep coming in this is this is his this is his specialty you want me to check with him
27:45or leave
27:45him alone so Paul called me up he said he had a problem he needed me to get there right

27:52perfect timing what are you guys doing how are you Jim good you good to see you hey Paul hey

27:58we're uh all right troubleshooting we're we're having a NASCAR drill on clutch NASCAR what on and off
28:07on and off on and off like tire change much oh we put a brand new belt drive on there
28:12it's still not
28:12working but this is what this is Jones bike right yeah what's wrong with it you can't we just can't
28:19get the the the adjustments it was hanging up but at the lever you mean it's hanging up tight
28:26I go so we changed the whole belt drive because if he didn't come in help Alan us we'd still
28:35be
28:35working on the bike good yeah all right let me see yeah I told you I said earlier what'd I
28:46say
28:46earlier change that umbrella did I tell you that right after you said you loved me you said to change
28:53the umbrella we had it happen before we did we had we had and we spent hours hey Al you
29:03great give
29:04me a longer screwdriver we got yeah so right now we're just basically cleaning the bike up a little
29:20bit and I think that pretty much we're ready to drop it down see if she starts
29:58it's been cool man this you know these past six bikes it's been a trip we've had a lot of
30:03laps
30:03you know some fun times it's great to see Paul again I'm glad he reached out and asked me to
30:09be
30:09a part of this you know it's a big thing man it's something to be proud of yeah so tomorrow
30:14morning
30:15I'm gonna go pick up the diamond check it out make sure everything's good and we're gonna head up to
30:18the house and surprise her she thinks everyone's coming over for her birthday but little does she
30:21know a bike and a new ring are coming so I'm really excited to see what she thinks about both
30:27the
30:27other day I was in the shop and they showed me something they said what do you think and I
30:32said
30:32I don't like blue hold it here and opens this one I would open it the other way I know
30:57and it's
30:59already 310 by 345 start to get the bikes what happens around four good job all right I'll take
31:06care of her sometimes you might say it's a love it might be a love hate relationship but you know
31:12the the bottom line is um she's always been there for me you know about two weeks ago Paul said
31:18I have
31:18to talk to you you just know like as a as a wife right when your husband says I have
31:22to talk to you it's
31:23usually not good and he said okay so here's the deal there's like 120 people coming and uh I don't
31:29know what I'm supposed to do or what we're supposed to do and I said where are they coming assuming
31:34that
31:34we were going to do it at OCC and he said no they they wanted to do it at the
31:38house I said Paul we live
31:40on a farm we don't have parking where would you put 120 people at a small farmhouse you know so
31:46actually it was pretty funny because he's like well I just know that you always figure stuff out so this
31:51whole thing um was probably the biggest stress bomb dropped on me did anybody see the liquor guy
31:57seriously the liquor guy oh everybody's in panic over here right yeah everybody's starting to shake
32:06he says he's gonna be here it's also uh in 90 days we've had three days of rain it's a
32:12dirt fest so
32:13you're not getting out of here with clean feet that's all I can tell you I'll be right back all

32:18I'm gonna bring I'm gonna bring the bike back yeah no no we're good they got they got

32:43there were so many people from various parts of my life you know there were people here friends of
32:49mine from when I was 14 and 15 it was definitely moving I think as you move on in life

32:56I think that you really appreciate relationships and good people um and to look around today my my
33:02friends from down here it was awesome feeling to just see all these people from all walks of life
33:08here you know to celebrate with us I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came to celebrate
33:13her birthday uh she really appreciates it I know a lot of people traveled long and far to be here
33:18and we actually have something that we wanted to share Paul has actually has a surprise for her so
33:23Joan mom I'll let her do the thanking herself as well thank you guys this is amazing I really um
33:34can't I look around and I see all these people from different walks of my congress in the back
33:43so actually uh we all know each other since we are 14 years old back there we've made some great
33:49new friends down here as well we have some of our friends that came in from back home in New
33:54York over
33:55here in the upstate New York so when I look around I see all the facets of our life and
34:01and all of the
34:02people that have come out today and I can't thank you enough because it's been awesome and we're having
34:06a great time and I hope you're having a great time too and don't worry more liquors on the way
34:12but in the meantime since we're holding out on that you can take a step this way there's a surprise
34:17for you
34:35so the best is happy birthday thanks I had no clue like honestly Jim was showing me a fender or
34:43something and I was like oh it's pretty cool I don't know I don't really like blue but it's pretty
34:47cool the other day I was in the shop and they showed me something they said what do you think
34:53and I said I don't like blue
34:57Sarah you look a lot better now that it's on the bike just for the record
35:03it does look good actually really good she keeps asking where are my choppers all the time where's my
35:08chopper and we've been uh you know doing the show and we've been like really busy I really like the
35:13bike I think that my mom's gonna like it I love the color I love the gas tank I love
35:17everything about
35:18it I like that it's low to the ground it's an easy ride um just kind of waiting for when
35:22he's gonna
35:22build me one just like it I just figured this would be a good birthday present yeah
35:30by the way I like that color blue I really screwed up on that one last week so I'm not
35:37done yet here
35:41so we we spent a lot of time riding bikes together every day and um so
35:49I can't help it I just think it's funny but um but so we used to ride past the um
35:59the justice of the peace every day you know and every once in a while we would like look
36:05really like look over there and we'd both say no no that's not happening man never again never again
36:11so one day um they had a cell remember they had a cell yeah it was a cell on marriage
36:19license
36:20so anyhow we said I'm gonna say she said let's go but she's gonna tell you that I said let's
36:28go
36:28so but anyhow so yeah so we go in there we fill out the papers real quick sign her name
36:34get up there
36:36I do you do and and there was like a plastic bouquet of flowers in the vlogs and I gave
36:43her that
36:45and uh we we uh we went to lunch and that was like yeah we never really uh had a
36:50wedding uh or
36:52anything like that you know so I figured I figured I figured I'd get you something
37:04is it blue I can't open it your daughter showed me how to open this there it is oh my
37:12god thank you
37:33so I just want to say that I really love my wife but what I like more about her that
37:39she puts up with me
37:42thanks for coming everybody I appreciate it
37:47and definitely had no clue about the ring he did a pretty good job on that today
37:53um ring bike come on he worked hard at it so I got to give him a couple of points
37:58a motorcycle and a ring what would it count it must be special that's for sure well thank you again
38:07for all of you being here to be a part of this figured that uh my daughter Sam probably had
38:13a
38:13hand in this but I was like there's no way that he does by himself for Paul getting this ring
38:19honestly
38:20was a surprise to me because he's not really romantic I pick out the Christmas gifts the birthday gifts
38:25forget valentine's day he doesn't even remember when it is so this to me when he asked me to come
38:29and do it I was like all right that's really nice for my mom because he doesn't do a lot
38:32of nice things
38:32like that like he's he'd give her the shirt off his back but he definitely doesn't think proactively on
38:37gifts or things like holidays so it was really nice thanks for coming and let's go have a good time
38:44I'm on a farm so there so maybe what they'll do is me feeding lines and then cut my daughter's
38:50like oh my
38:50god I told you to get a manicure oh my god your feet are filthy I'm like well I have
38:54been out on
38:55a farm all day like they're not going to be clean show us the ring
39:05very pretty it was so funny because you go to all these unveils reveals and like you can't wait
39:11to see like what the people's response are you know I think it's a gift that Paul has always had
39:17I think uh I think she liked it I think she liked the ring you know happy days right big
39:23big rock
39:24no it's nice Paul did a good job the bike is beautiful the ring came out great Paul didn't
39:30you know didn't lose it which was amazing also and uh on all a great day with some great friends
39:34and family I mean it's a great day weather's perfect you know everyone here the love is in
39:39the air and good vibes he's breaking his chops I said to him you know what just thought on me
39:46you never came and asked me for my daughter's hand in marriage
39:51yeah well I think the main thing she was surprised that's for sure um yeah so I think it was
39:57good I
39:58think it was good I'm not like I don't know I'm not really good at that kind of stuff you
40:02know so
40:04um so I did pretty good for not being so good at it very nice celebration and we were happy
40:10to be a
40:11part of it very happy and I wish you all the best to Paul and Joan thank you for letting
40:18me be a part
40:19of such an amazing project and uh we're looking forward to season two baby we're having a great
40:24time Paul's great Joan is great family's fantastic it's a beautiful day and uh thank you for the invite

40:38Bob do you have crazy friends or what oh my god did you see how close that was surreal that's
40:45surreal what a season if you'd told me 20 years ago that we would have been doing this
40:50I don't know I guess I probably would have believed it because we do crazy stuff
40:55so doing six bikes in such a short period of time and then being filmed all day while you're doing
41:00it it's a little frustrating a little hectic uh but it's a challenge we all took on when we started
41:05this
41:05the great thing about doing it this time is Paul owns 100 of the show the editing the production the
41:11stories come from the customer and Paul so it's OCC his way and our way because it's a team effort
41:17when
41:17you see the bike finished and the unveil it's worth it
