Omar Majed appeared before Birmingham magistrates after a Peter Kay show at Utilita Arena was evacuated. He gave no indication of plea and has been remanded in custody.

00:05In Birmingham, thousands of Peter Kay fans were evacuated from the Utilita Arena after an alleged bomb hoax.
00:13A 19-year-old has appeared before Birmingham magistrates.
00:17Omar Majid from Saltley gave no indication of plea to a charge of communicating false information to police.
00:25He was remanded in custody and is due in Birmingham Crown Court on the 1st of June.
00:31The charge has not been proved.
00:34The court heard prosecutors allege Majid entered the arena without a ticket on Friday.
00:40They said he indicated to a police constable and others that a bomb may have been left inside the venue,
00:46leading to an evacuation.
00:49Prosecutor Ros Butler told the court the alleged hoax had serious repercussions at an event with an expected crowd of
00:57almost 13,000 people.
00:59During the hearing, District Judge Michelle Smith repeatedly asked Majid to remain quiet and seated.
01:06He was removed from the court before the end of the hearing after protesting that proposed bail conditions were not
01:13acceptable.
