00:01When people ask why we do the Dakar, usually we talk about speed, drivers tearing through surreal, cinematic landscapes, but
00:14the real truth is a tiny bit different.
00:19More than anything, the Dakar is a legendary and inspiring love story. A love story that begins and ends with
00:30sad. Lots. And lots. And lots of sad.
00:40OK, fine. It's true. Sometimes, way too much sand. You would think that after all that, we'd deserve a nice,
00:52relaxing bath. Oh, how little you understand.
00:57Wow, what is it?
01:00Whether it's dust clouds reducing visibility to zero, or flooded rivers threatening to wash you away.
01:08The Dakar way is to find a way. To think outside the box. You do not give up.
01:22No need to go over the top though, mate.
01:26Sometimes, it can get too much. This guy this morning left in a race car. Now, all that's left is
01:36a door, which he's pulling through the empty desert like taking a pet for a walk.
01:42So what do we do when we feel like throwing in the towel? You just got to get up and
01:49get moving to that funky Dakar beat.
01:53We can dance. We can crossfit. Build desert paddle courts. Even squeeze in a bit of surfing.
02:02But there is nothing that digs you out of a hole quite like digging your bike out of a hole
02:08in 40 degrees.
02:12All the time knowing, you'll probably have to do the same thing again soon enough.
02:19We are suckers for punishment. Motorbite masochists.
02:28Don't tell anyone, but we welcome the suffering and bring on the pain.
02:34But beware. Sometimes, the desert bites back.
02:41And in case you were wondering, yeah, that really did bloody hurt.
02:46But remember, every Dakar story is a love story.
02:51And we never feel it more than when one of us is in trouble.
02:56In the desert, we may be adversaries.
02:59But when someone needs help, we stop.
03:04When one falls, we all pull them back up.
03:08Because out here, we are Dakar brothers and sisters.
03:12Back at the bivouac swapping stories, while mechanics are working miracles.
03:18We tell tales of triumph and disaster and treat both impostors just the same.
03:25And there are always reasons to laugh. Reasons to cry.
03:29Memories forged and lessons learned that will last a lifetime.
03:36So yes, we really are here for love.
03:39Love of these moments.
03:42Love of this spectacular scenery.
03:45Love of the drama.
03:47The joy.
03:48The pain.
03:50For the love of these comrades.
03:54And for the love of life itself.
03:57Why do I do the Dakar?
04:00There are too many reasons.
04:02Too many wonders.
04:04Too much to tell.
04:05To feel.
04:06To treasure.
04:09And soon, we will come together again.
04:13To light a new fire.
04:15And to write a new love story.
04:19Because soon, the Dakar returns.
04:25The Dakar.
04:37Let's read anointed words.
04:37Gracias por ver el video.
