00:00A woman who brandished a knife at the Rain Rave Water Music Festival in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
00:06has been referred to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta to undergo psychiatric evaluation for 30 days.
00:13Shannon N. Uy, 27, was charged this morning with carrying an offensive weapon in a public place
00:19for unlawful purposes under Section 6, subsection 1 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances
00:25and Offensive Weapons Act, 1958.
00:28The charge is punishable by up to two years in prison and whipping upon conviction.
00:34Dangwangi Police Chief Sazali Adams said the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates Court ordered the accused
00:40to be sent to the psychiatric hospital for evaluation as it was suspected that she had mental health issues.
00:46In a statement, he said the court fixed June 4th for case mention.
00:51A video which went viral showed members of the public disarming a woman
00:56who had pulled out a knife during the music festival on Saturday night.
