La tensión en las relaciones transatlánticas ha alcanzado un nuevo punto crítico durante la cumbre de la Comunidad Política Europea en Ereván. El secretario general de la OTAN, Mark Rutte, ha asegurado que las naciones de la UE han "captado el mensaje" de Estados Unidos y del presidente Donald Trump, comprometiéndose a cumplir con un gasto en defensa del 5% y a aplicar los acuerdos bilaterales sobre el estacionamiento de fuerzas. Sin embargo, esta aparente unidad se resquebraja ante la firme negativa de España a ceder sus instalaciones militares para el conflicto en Irán.

00:14But I would also argue that what I'm hearing from all my contacts with European leaders
00:20is that European leaders have gotten the message.
00:25They heard the message from the U.S. loud and clear.
00:27And we have seen all these countries now participating with their bilateral agreements,
00:32making sure that when it comes to basic requests and all the logistical support, this is delivered.
00:37I would argue that, yes, there has been some disappointment from the U.S. side,
00:42but Europeans have listened to the message from the U.S. and from the U.S. president,
00:48like they did last year when it came to the NATO summit and the 5% spending commitment.
