00:02No passengers allowed on this first run.
00:05I got to get used to this boat before anybody rides in it.
00:09The boat stalls out, you want to have something to paddle with.
00:12Otherwise, you're up a creek with no paddles.
00:18Courage, don't leave me.
00:20All right, sayonara.
00:23We're going to hang back, follow him.
00:25So if anything does go wrong, we're there to help him out.
00:30This is an intimidating river.
00:31Things go wrong in this river, it gets bad real quick.
00:34Y'all ready?
00:34Hell yeah.
00:35Now it's time to go mining.
00:56God dang it.
01:00We have no power.
01:02It's spitting and sputtering, backfiring.
01:05Mayday, mayday, mayday.
01:07Miners are in trouble.
01:08This is Paul.
01:09I'm in trouble.
01:11Oh .
01:13We got electrical trouble.
01:15Whoa.
01:16West.
01:18God dang.
01:20God dang.
01:22Oh .
01:23Hey, miners are in trouble.
01:25Miners are in trouble.
01:26West fell out of the boat.
01:27We are in trouble.
01:32We are in trouble.
01:34It's very important that we find bold, because this is not a hobby.
01:38That's our future.
01:39There's logs.
01:40Y'all get out.
01:40Get out.
01:41Everything wants to kill you around here.
01:44Heads up.
01:45Heads up.
01:48Heads up.
01:49I gotta channel my inner Fred.
01:51Just put some tape on it.
01:53Keep going.
01:56Upstream.
01:57So much store attention or cut your damn head off.
02:02Holy .
02:07Standing on the hard track.
02:08And red rocks underneath.
02:10I feel like we're really close right now.
02:12Holy .
02:13Man, look at that.
02:14This whole area's frickin' good, dude.
02:15It's loaded, bro.
02:16It's one of our most productive days ever.
02:19We're gonna have tons and tons of gold.
02:38You gotta make sure your teeth are clean.
02:41Nobody likes a rotten smile.
02:49Good morning, everybody.
02:51You guys ready to dive?
02:52Sorry I can't go down there with you.
02:54Who's diving today?
02:55Me and James.
02:56Okay.
02:56Hopefully I can get this thing healed up before the end of the season and dive.
03:00I've been trying to design, like, a glove that'll keep those fingers straight.
03:03He's got a mechanical hand, dude.
03:04It's just a hook.
03:05That's all I need is a hook.
03:07Hey, Dustin, you've got a mosquito on your face.
03:13Despite his injury, just over a month into the season, Dustin Hurt and his crew are on the
03:20gold.
03:21So it felt like yesterday, guys, we were finally getting into, like, that groove.
03:24Mm-hmm.
03:25We just got it started.
03:26And I think it felt pretty good, yeah?
03:28Yeah, yeah.
03:29You got gold, buddy!
03:31Yeah!
03:31On the last dive, James discovered their first nugget of the season.
03:38That was a hard dive, but it was worth it.
03:42There's gold down there, so thank you for proving that because now we know we're in the
03:46right spot.
03:50I need to succeed.
03:51We have to be able to financially support this adventure.
03:56Mm-hmm.
03:57Hopefully we can keep this going.
03:58We're just, let's get, build off of yesterday.
04:01Let's get some momentum going.
04:02Yeah.
04:03All right, let's get to it, y'all.
04:07Now in his third season at Nugget Creek, all of Dustin's savings are dried up, and he's
04:15deep in debt.
04:16If the crew doesn't hit it big, it could be their run.
04:21So today, we're gonna go up and see if we can get some real progress.
04:28Nugget Creek, it destroyed my bank account.
04:31We might as well just throw all this money just out the window if we don't get enough gold
04:35to pay for all this.
04:38I don't want that to happen, so.
04:44I know Dustin's dressed out right now.
04:46I know he's spent a lot of money.
04:47It definitely takes its toll on you.
05:01Whoo!
05:02Mama, mama, can't you see?
05:06What Nugget Creek has done to me?
05:11The crew are mining The Wall dive site.
05:15And to increase their gold haul, they've built a revolutionary double dredge.
05:23Double the power.
05:24Double the progression.
05:26Double the might.
05:28It allows the divers to suck up twice as much painter into the sluice boxes, where the riffles
05:35will trap old chunky nuggets.
05:41It's a new dredge this year, the Deuce Loose.
05:43I combined a bunch of pieces together to make this dredge.
05:45It took a little bit to get it dialed in, but I think we've got most of the bugs worked
05:49out of it.
05:51Last week, while firing it up, excess pressure damaged the dredge.
05:58Oh!
05:59It blew the foot valve off.
06:01It's gonna be a one-diver day today.
06:03Forcing them back to one diver.
06:08As soon as I get the current, it takes me away.
06:11And the raging whitewater made diving a losing battle.
06:18This is so much to ask to just chill out for a day, water!
06:25Now with the dredge fixed, to get back on the gold, the crew must figure out how to tame the
06:32ferocious current.
06:34What do you think, Paul?
06:35Just get to these boulders, try to make our weir up here on that other side.
06:39Try to shoot the water on that side?
06:41Yeah.
06:41We can make a wall.
06:42Let's just make another wall.
06:44I need to slow it down.
06:45Uh, you can't dive in it.
06:47Not like this.
06:48No.
06:48So let's prepare for that.
06:49Let's do it.
06:50All right.
06:51Let's move some rocks.
06:52Yep.
06:52Rocks.
06:53Let's, uh, slow this water down, guys.
06:57To protect the divers and the dredge from the full force of the thousands of gallons a second of whitewater,
07:07they will build a weir wall of rocks above the dive hole out into the center of the creek.
07:16Slowing the water will allow both divers to dredge again for double the gold.
07:26So right now we're just trying to slow down some of the whitewater.
07:29We won't ever stop it.
07:31But we can slow it down enough to work in it, because right now it's getting out of hand.
07:48Let's find as many slings as we can.
07:50We're going to be pulling some big rocks, Al.
07:53Let's grab it.
07:55Oh, yeah.
07:56It's got it.
08:01Perfect.
08:04Next thing you know, we'll start diving soon.
08:07Right there is our money maker.
08:09This is how we make a living.
08:12It's very important that we find gold, because this is not a hobby.
08:17That's our future.
08:24Actually, those little rocks are locking in nice.
08:32Looks like it's working.
08:34There it is.
08:36Look at it.
08:39Watch yourself.
08:40Watch your toes.
08:44Yeah.
08:45Oh, he slowed it down big time, dude.
08:48Yeah.
08:48Heck yeah.
08:50Oh, look at that.
08:54Oh, my gosh.
08:56That is one big boulder.
08:58Constructing the weir wall has lowered the water level and revealed a massive boulder blocking
09:05them from the gold below.
09:08So, check this out, guys.
09:10All we're trying to do is get as much of this rock cracked.
09:14Now, let's get this thing out of here.
09:15Thanks, guys.
09:16Yep.
09:19We are going to blow that boulder to smithereens.
09:23What a great word, smithereens.
09:26What does smithereens mean?
09:28Smithereens means to make little ones from big ones.
09:31Let's do it.
09:32The crew will use explosive charges drilled deep into the boulder to blast it apart.
09:50That boulder's been there for a long time.
09:52There's no telling what's underneath it.
09:53We've heard in the past, some of these guys have got 30, 40 ounces underneath one boulder.
10:04All right.
10:05I think we're ready for a pop.
10:06Yes, sir.
10:07Let's do it.
10:08Fire in the hole.
10:09Three, two, one.
10:12It worked.
10:13That one sounded good.
10:15Well, we got a pretty good crack out of the first one.
10:18We're going to have to keep this going.
10:19We're on our way.
10:21Fire in the hole.
10:22Three, two, one.
10:25Yeah!
10:26That worked out great.
10:32The hole is the best at drilling and locating the areas where these things go.
10:36If you don't read the rock properly, you could just, you could throw a thousand of these things
10:41at them and it just chips away at it and does nothing.
10:44If you read it right, one will do the whole damn thing.
10:51Remember, man, when you were a kid, you had that loose tooth and it's just wiggling and
10:55it won't give.
10:57And then at that one moment, we just give up, it just falls out.
11:01Plop.
11:03Hello, tooth fairy.
11:04Money, money, money.
11:06It's the same concept, man.
11:08What's lying beneath this frickin' boulder?
11:11Here we go.
11:12Fire in the hole.
11:13Three, two, one.
11:15Way better.
11:17Way better.
11:18That was a pop.
11:19That split in half.
11:20Yep.
11:20Look at that.
11:21It did.
11:22Awesome.
11:22Oh, wow.
11:24It broke it.
11:26It broke it all the way across this way, that way.
11:29It's all shattered right there.
11:31Nice.
11:32This rock is out of my life.
11:35We're about to get gold.
11:39So we got that rock cracked.
11:41We got to use the winch to pull those rocks out.
11:45All we got to do is yank it out of the hole and there's all kind of things that can
11:50go wrong.
11:53All right, let's hook up some rocks.
11:56Carlos, you're up, buddy.
11:57Let's start lassoing.
12:02This rock's huge.
12:05Let's get it out.
12:07That should do it.
12:11Up slow.
12:13Up slow.
12:14There's so much stored tension in that right now and it'll cut your damn head off.
12:20Up stream.
12:23Up stream.
12:24It's going to pop loose.
12:25It's going to pop loose.
12:27Watch out.
12:28Watch out.
12:28Watch out.
12:30Holy .
12:50That could have killed somebody.
12:53At the wall dive site, James narrowly misses being sliced in two by the tensioned cable.
13:00The first hook didn't go so well and I think they'll do better from now on because they don't want
13:06to go through that again.
13:09Yeah.
13:10That's a nice piece.
13:11That's a good one.
13:12Nice wrap, Carlos.
13:15Oh, look at that.
13:16That's perfect.
13:18That was actually really awesome.
13:20Really awesome.
13:24We won the battle and the war continues.
13:27Boulder's gone.
13:29Now it's time to get in the water.
13:32Uh, who's diving today?
13:34They're going to go down Paula James.
13:35They're going to continue.
13:39After spending half the day prepping, Dustin can now send down two divers to make up for lost time.
13:48Okay, so the last dive, I managed to pull up a piece of gold, a nugget, and I was really
13:54happy.
13:54Let's hope that we can find some more of those.
13:58Let the gold hound find some more gold.
14:00What did Robbie die?
14:06All right, get you in the water, man.
14:10All right, I'm trying not to kill you today.
14:13If I can keep my shit straight, uh, you won't die.
14:16Oh, my gosh.
14:21Good job!
14:23Woo!
14:25Look at all the pretty rocks!
14:28Woo!
14:29Finally diving!
14:32The water is much, much, much, much better compared to yesterday.
14:38There's so many basket rocks down here.
14:42It's going to be basket rock after basket rock after basket rock.
14:52James will start at the creek edge, where he found the nugget on his last dive, and follow the bedrock
14:59wall down.
15:00While Paul digs down beside the weir.
15:06Double dredging should get the divers down in record time to the red hard pack layer, and then, beneath it,
15:15a pile of bedrock nuggets.
15:23Hey, what's it look like underneath that boulder?
15:26It looks like, uh, good material underneath it.
15:29Sounds damn too good to me.
15:31I hope there's some big nuggets underneath where that rock was.
15:34All right, guys.
15:34Just let me know when you're ready for another basket.
15:37Copy that.
15:38I'll use one any time.
15:41Right there.
15:42Ah!
15:44Ah!
15:52I think our basket's full, isn't it?
15:56All right, basket's lift up.
16:04Everything seems to be going really well right now.
16:06We've got a damn good dive hole going.
16:09The dredge is running.
16:10Everybody's in good spirits.
16:11Now all we need to do is find some gold.
16:16We're rocking now, dude.
16:20Over the next four hours...
16:23How's it going?
16:25Oh, it's a deep, real estate.
16:28Perfect.
16:31James and Paul battle the frigid 33-degree water, removing over 3,000 pounds of rock by hand.
16:45Hey, James!
16:47How deep is that?
16:48It looks like it's about three foot deep.
16:51Really interesting area over here.
16:54The material's starting to look different.
16:57What does it look like?
17:00A little bit of clay, a little cobble.
17:06Oh, that's good material.
17:09We're already at four feet right there.
17:12Man, there's a piece of size holder that's locked in, the hard pack.
17:18Hell yeah!
17:19That makes me happy.
17:23At just four feet down, James reaches the hard pack layer.
17:28We're making great progress right now.
17:32He could be inches from bedrock gold.
17:38I'm standing on the hard pack, and the bedrock's somewhere underneath.
17:43It's close.
17:44I hope there's gold entered there, bro.
17:46There should be.
17:46This has been one amazing day.
17:49James made it down to hard pack.
17:51It's probably one of our most productive days ever.
17:54At this pace, we're gonna have tons and tons of gold.
18:21It's pretty cool experience in this hard pack.
18:25I hope there's gold entered there, bro.
18:27There should be.
18:27There should be.
18:30At the wall, James and Paul are over four hours into the dive.
18:36They're game-changing double dredge, removing material in record time.
18:43We're making great progress right now.
18:46James' discovery of a hard pack layer means he could be inches from the gold.
18:56It's pretty neat.
18:57There's a little rock hammer over there.
18:59Can I get that one, Bill?
19:00I see it.
19:01So the question is, do I throw it like a tomahawk, or...?
19:04Yeah, right here.
19:08Can you find it down there?
19:10Yeah, it's right in here somewhere.
19:12Perfect.
19:17There you go.
19:18There you go.
19:21Using the rock hammer, James can now remove the hard pack, locking the rocks together.
19:30Cranking up a big hole here, and we're starting to feed away and haul away from zero.
19:37Some of these rocks are peeling right out of it.
19:42Really good indication that we're close to bedrock.
19:48We know there's always gold on the bedrock.
19:52We're after the very bottom because we're looking for the ancient gold that was set down by the glaciers in
19:57the past.
19:59That's a challenge for me, and I love it.
20:08Tiring!
20:09Whoo!
20:13It's not easy underwater.
20:17It's gonna get more and more difficult the more we clean it out.
20:22But, uh, I feel really good.
20:26We actually got somewhere today, for sure.
20:33I think we've made a lot of headway.
20:35I know we got some depth.
20:37Well, I think when we started out, we might have been at three feet.
20:39I think now we're probably down to five feet feet.
20:42Uh, it's definitely going down.
20:57Water's changing colors.
20:59Well, I thought it was getting dirty down here.
21:08Hey, guys.
21:09We're getting dirty water.
21:10We're getting dirty water.
21:12Look at this.
21:12We got debris.
21:13We got debris.
21:16I see logs coming down the river right now.
21:19Divers up.
21:20Divers up.
21:21Divers up.
21:21Let's go, guys.
21:21Divers up, man.
21:25There's logs.
21:26Y'all get out.
21:26Get out.
21:30Must have had an ice cream break up there.
21:32Y'all hurry.
21:33Get, get, get, get.
21:36Get right there.
21:36Right there.
21:37Right there.
21:37We're good.
21:39That stuff is coming down fast.
21:42All right, fellas.
21:43Let's get out of those suits, man.
21:44Let's call it.
21:45There's so much debris coming down right now,
21:48it's absolutely messed up.
21:49But I'm pulling you because, well.
21:52Safety is used.
21:52I get it.
21:53Just safety, bro.
21:54Sorry.
21:54Just how it is.
21:55You guys come on up.
21:57Get dressed.
21:58I had to pull the divers.
21:59One of those logs or trees comes through here
22:02and catches one of my guys in a dredge.
22:04We're done.
22:07I'm not taking any chances,
22:08because I know what this creek can do.
22:11Check the box.
22:13You guys dug one hell of a hole.
22:17After a solid shift building the weir wall,
22:20plus a five-hour double dive,
22:23the crew are pushing into overtime
22:25and desperate for a paycheck.
22:29All this frickin' hard work needs to pay off.
22:35I don't see anything obvious.
22:38If there was any in here,
22:39it should be back here.
22:41Unless there's some in the inspection, Matt.
22:45I don't see anything.
22:48I'm not seeing any gold right now.
22:55Got lots of pyrite.
22:58Look at all the pyrite.
23:01He got into something good.
23:02Get some big chunks of pyrite.
23:04Man, look at that.
23:05Look at that .
23:07That is huge.
23:08There's gonna be some big nuggets here.
23:11The discovery of pyrite is a great sign.
23:15It's often found near deposits of big gold.
23:19This whole area's frickin' good, dude.
23:22It's loaded, bro.
23:25It sucks we don't have gold in the box yet,
23:27but the amount of pyrite that's in the box,
23:29it's leading us in the right direction.
23:30We are so close to being on that gold.
23:33It was a long frickin' day.
23:36If I was getting paid overtime, I'd be a rich man.
23:39We're gonna do the same thing tomorrow.
23:41It's gonna be wash, rinse, repeat.
23:44With the two sluices going,
23:46it's just gonna be a matter of time,
23:47and we're gonna be able to get some really good gold.
23:49Been a huge day today.
23:52It's been a lot of work, but it's all worth it.
23:54I feel like we're really close right now.
24:17This rain is not letting up.
24:19It's been raining all night long.
24:21Everything is saturated.
24:26Overnight, an unexpected storm
24:28dumped two inches of rain on camp,
24:30and even more in the mountains above.
24:36All right.
24:37So, we're in flood warning everywhere right now.
24:40Yeah.
24:40All the way around us.
24:41We're gonna try our hardest to dive today.
24:44Yeah.
24:44I'm tired of worrying about it,
24:46because when I go outside of my place
24:48in the middle of the night,
24:49I can hear the river just go...
24:52Ooh!
24:53I'm like, oh, my God.
24:54I don't know what that boat's doing.
24:55I worried about them all night last night,
24:57because I listened to that rain.
24:58I was like, .
24:59Let's get after it.
25:00I know it's gonna flood today,
25:01so everybody just be on point.
25:04Copy that.
25:17Man, there's a lot of debris.
25:23Holy .
25:25Look at that.
25:28Wow.
25:29Weir's holding up.
25:30That's good.
25:32Hell, yeah.
25:34Woo!
25:34Hell, yeah.
25:35The dredge made it.
25:36Dredge made it!
25:39The dive site and Weir are undamaged,
25:42but the high water is still a major concern.
25:47My worry is, if we get any kind of surge,
25:50it's gonna knock that wall in on us.
25:51That's what I was thinking, too.
25:52Just one log come down, hit one boulder,
25:54open that up.
25:55Not even.
25:56It's done.
25:56The problem is, when it goes,
25:58it goes so big,
25:59and it's gonna hurt somebody bad, bad.
26:02I can't have that.
26:03Let me think on this for a minute.
26:07The colossal force of the raging water,
26:11along with any logs it launches down the creek,
26:15has the wrecking power to smash the Weir to pieces.
26:20If it can't withstand the attack,
26:23any diver dredging below would be instantly crushed.
26:34We're being cautious.
26:36We're supposed to get better weather, hopefully.
26:38Then we get in the water.
26:46Oh!
26:47Heads up!
26:48Coming down!
26:49Holy!
26:50Dude!
26:51That almost hit West.
26:52You see that?
26:53That's the problem with the water coming down the mountain.
26:57That could have killed somebody!
27:00The saturated cliffs above, now crumbling,
27:03have unleashed a deadly hail of skull-crushing rocks.
27:10This is why it just came down off of the wall.
27:12This, this, this, this, and this.
27:20All just came off of the wall from way up there.
27:24When the mountain gets saturated,
27:26the dirt gets too heavy and it just wants to slide down.
27:29That was close.
27:30Everything wants to kill you around here.
27:36I have to watch out for the safety of everyone here.
27:38This is part of my job, is keeping everybody safe.
27:42I have to call it.
27:47Carlos, let's get the hell out of here.
27:48Yes, dude, it's not worth it.
27:50It's not worth dying, man.
27:51Let's get the hell out of here.
27:52For what?
27:52That was too close right there.
27:57Forced to evacuate the dive site,
28:02the miners licked their wounds.
28:06So I busted my hand.
28:08A little bummed out about it.
28:11Went to the doctor.
28:12They gave me this finger splint thing to keep on.
28:17And it keeps the finger straight.
28:19But I can't work with this.
28:21Bought some stuff from the store.
28:25Hopefully I can make a brace that supports that finger and I can do my job.
28:35Fred, my father, would injure himself all the damn time.
28:39And he was one of the tougher fellas that I've ever met in my life.
28:43Everybody wants to know what's wrong with my leg.
28:45Other than the fact that leg is bent, twisted a little bit, and shorter,
28:51there ain't nothing wrong with it.
28:55I worked in refineries.
28:57Construction work, nothing slows me down.
29:05He had that old school, doctors of the devil, fix it,
29:11just rub some dirt in it, keep going type stuff.
29:15I'll give you an example.
29:16When I was nine years old, I cut the end of my finger off with a bandsaw.
29:20So he used tape and toilet paper when my mother came home
29:24and saw that my finger was off.
29:27And I remember him making the argument,
29:29oh, he's fine, he'll do just fine.
29:32Just leave him be, it'll heal back on.
29:34My mother took me and I got 12 stitches in my finger.
29:38They reattached my fingertip.
29:43Oh, Dustin, it's just a little injury.
29:46Just get over it, just keep going.
29:47Wrap it up, it's all right.
29:50Every now and again, I gotta channel my inner Fred.
29:55Just put some tape on it, keep going.
30:05That's pretty treacherous up there.
30:07Every day we take a chance with our lives, trying to get to this gold.
30:11We find the gold, but are you gonna be around to spend it?
30:14Hopefully this calms down and we can get back to it and hit it hard.
30:19I just hope this means that there's a bunch of gold, I hope.
30:22We've gotta find all the rest of the brothers and sisters that go to the one that James found that
30:26first dive.
30:27I mean, one nugget is not gonna pay all the bills.
30:33I would love to see us get down to the bottom and see what's in the bottom of this hole.
30:38They wanna find the gold just as much as I do.
30:44I think that'll work.
30:47All right, let's see if this thing fits.
30:52There you go.
30:54See, I can bend those fingers like that.
30:57It doesn't hurt as long as I don't bend like that.
31:01I think I can work in this.
31:03But we're gonna run out of fuel in a day or two.
31:06So we're gonna head back to town.
31:12Up ahead.
31:14Nervous.
31:15Better be nervous.
31:16This is scary.
31:20This thing's really hard to control.
31:27Engine died.
31:30Mayday, mayday, mayday.
31:31Miners are in trouble.
31:46I don't know what we were thinking.
31:47Thinking that the water was gonna go down while we were waiting there with it still raining.
31:52That's how bad we wanna get in and dredge.
31:54I mean, because, oh, we found gold right off the bat.
31:56And then, you know, it's one stray nugget there that we found and we gotta work for the rest of
32:00them.
32:00But, man.
32:01That happened to me in Nome, Alaska.
32:03Yeah.
32:03We went 30 miles out and we stayed in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains.
32:08Picked a spot and pan and I found a nugget.
32:10And then, for a month, we couldn't find after that.
32:13I was so devastated.
32:14Yeah.
32:15You just never know.
32:17Gold does weird things, man.
32:18It does weird things.
32:36We're gonna try to get to camp today.
32:39I gotta get some supplies and gas and head on out.
32:44We can't afford to lose any more time.
32:49So, now I'm looking for 25 gallons, basically.
32:54With Nugget Creek too deadly to dive, the crew have made a vital 30-mile supply run to Hanes.
33:03Every time we come in, I grab two barrels of fuel.
33:06This is the only way we can get fuel up there right now.
33:10Camp doesn't run off of nothing.
33:12It runs off of gasoline.
33:13Right now, regular gas is $5.10.
33:19This is 110 gallons of gasoline.
33:23Then I gotta fill this thing up, which is 50 gallons.
33:28And it starts to add up pretty damn quick.
33:32It's right there.
33:33Sweet.
33:34All right.
33:35Well, everybody knows what we're doing.
33:36Yep.
33:37We're going out to the boat launch right now.
33:38Yep.
33:38Check it out.
33:39See what the situation is.
33:40Well, James' situation is gonna be way different than your situation.
33:44All right.
33:44Just hit us up.
33:45We'll know.
33:49To get to camp, James recently bought his own airboat.
33:54And today is the first time he'll pilot it 13 miles up the treacherous Serku River.
34:06I'm a little nervous on how this is gonna go.
34:09I've only tested it for about 20 minutes.
34:14It's very important to have another boat up in Nugget Creek because, you know, if there's somebody that needs to
34:20be rescued or taken out, we can hop in my boat and get it done.
34:24So I'm heading to the landing and hoping nothing bad happens.
34:28Over the last two seasons.
34:31It's gonna take us right into that wall.
34:33Hold on.
34:35Ah, you .
34:38The power of the mighty Serku claimed three airboats.
34:43In this freaking crazy strong current, everybody almost nearly died.
34:51Now, in case of emergency, James' extra airboat could be the difference between life and death.
35:01What's up, man?
35:02What's up?
35:03I'm nervous.
35:05Hell yeah, you are.
35:07Better be nervous.
35:08This is scary.
35:10Good for you.
35:12Pushing your limits.
35:14What's next?
35:15Let's get that boat in the water and see what you got, man.
35:18Hmm.
35:23This boat is a 14-foot custom-made boat.
35:30This has got a 0320 Lycoming four-cylinder.
35:34It's out of an airplane Cessna.
35:37It's a little hot rod.
35:38It's running probably about 150 horse.
35:46Here we go.
35:47All right.
35:49We're gonna hang back, follow him.
35:51So if anything does go wrong, we're there to help him out.
35:56This is an intimidating river.
35:57Things go wrong in this river, it gets bad real quick.
36:01I've got a 20-foot boat.
36:04Paul and Wes have a 20-foot boat.
36:07And this one is 14.
36:09It's basically a sports car.
36:11What I have is closer to a haul truck.
36:19No passengers allowed on this first run.
36:23I've got to get used to this boat before anybody rides in it.
36:27The boat stalls out, you want to have something to paddle with.
36:30Otherwise, you're up a creek with no paddles.
36:37You should give him a goddamn call sign, you know?
36:40From here forth, you shall be named the Crimson Hound.
36:50Courage, don't leave me.
36:52All right. Sayonara.
37:08Let's get out of here.
37:13Keeping a close eye behind rookie James is Dustin and Carlos.
37:22Y'all ready?
37:23Hell yeah.
37:24Now it's time to go mining.
37:25With brothers Paul and Wes taking the rear.
37:54This thing's really hard to control.
37:58I've got to watch out for big rocks, logs, and walls.
38:09I'm scared.
38:11Oh, man.
38:24Engine died.
38:28Engine pisses me off.
38:33we have no power two miles from camp paul and wes's engine stalls trying to see if i can get
38:42us
38:42on shore they are now at the mercy of the mighty circle river we definitely got to get it going
39:00again well i made it rookie james survives his first run
39:14that was scary i thought i was going to be stranded out there i was going to need some help
39:21i think that engine's done it was stumbling bad something's wrong
