00:01Massive stone temples, believed to have been constructed by giants.
00:08A mysterious megalithic city that rises out of the ocean.
00:13And a colossal pyramid thought to predate the great flood of the Bible.
00:36All around the world, we see the magnificent ruins of cultures that existed thousands of years ago.
00:43And even today, archaeologists still don't know how sites like the pyramids of Giza,
00:50the temple at Baalbek, and even Stonehenge were built.
00:54For ancient astronaut theorists like me, these places are even more compelling
00:59because the local mythology claims that they were constructed with otherworldly assistance.
01:06Perhaps one of the best examples of extraterrestrial engineering can be found atop a vast plateau in the Andes Mountains,
01:15where dozens of megalithic blocks appear to have been carved with laser-like precision.
01:25The Inca Empire, Peru, 1549.
01:30High in the Andes Mountains, Spanish explorer Pedro Cieza de Leon is searching for the Inca capital of Cuyasuyu.
01:40Just south of Lake Titicaca, at an elevation of nearly 13,000 feet,
01:45he comes upon extraordinary ruins covering roughly two and a half square miles.
01:51It is the ancient settlement of Tiwanaku.
01:56De Leon spends many months investigating the site and writes in his chronicles.
02:01The Tiwanaku contains impressive stone walls, idols of human figures, and great doorways.
02:10He also writes about an area south of the main archaeological site called Puma Punku, or Gate of the Puma.
02:18It features stone blocks so enormous, he does not understand how they could be moved by humans.
02:25And they are carved with a precision that, according to De Leon, could not be accomplished with the tools available
02:32to the Inca.
02:33Pedro Cieza de Leon says that the local population, which was Inca, told him that this place was not built
02:44by the Incas, but it was built hundreds of years before.
02:49If the Inca themselves have said that it was not the Inca, well then who were the pre-Incas?
02:57And there we are confronted with a gigantic question mark.
03:01What the giant blocks formed is completely unknown.
03:05And nearly five centuries after its discovery by De Leon, Puma Punku remains as mysterious as ever.
03:14It's out in this really open, high plains.
03:19Most of the stones in Puma Punku are huge.
03:23The biggest is 130 tons.
03:28There's another one that's 85 tons.
03:30Even the small ones are multi-ton.
03:33So these are huge.
03:35The Platform Alitica is in the center of Puma Punku, and it's in fact the foundation.
03:40So it consists of enormous slabs of red sandstone that were brought from a quarry eight miles to the west,
03:48over two mountain ranges.
03:49So how that was accomplished, I have no idea.
03:53Another really fascinating aspect of the Puma Punku site is the distribution of these blocks.
04:01Some of them are still upright in the position that they were originally constructed in.
04:06Most of them are strewn about.
04:08It looks like you're in a child's playroom, and blocks have just been knocked over from some sort of a
04:14structure that was built.
04:15It looks like it's been destroyed by a kind of tsunami or something.
04:20It's got mud piled up everywhere, giant stones sticking out of it at crazy angles.
04:28It remains unknown whether the structures of Puma Punku were destroyed by a cataclysm,
04:34or if the construction project was simply abandoned before it was finished.
04:40But the roughly 150 megalithic blocks that can be found at the site today reveal that the builders possessed astounding
04:48stone-working abilities.
04:51Puma Punku has these megalithic blocks that are perfectly cut, that all of their angles are completely right angles.
05:02There's these ones in particular called H blocks that look like a big capital H.
05:07They have kind of fade lines going in where they carved the same shape in a couple of different layers,
05:17deeper and deeper into the stone.
05:20And its precision is really mind-boggling.
05:23There are grooves that are cut with perfect 90-degree angles.
05:27It looks like they were so precise that they were done with modern-day milling machine tools.
05:36There's stones there too that have a lot of drill holes and saw cuts and things like that in them.
05:44It's an amazing piece of engineering that is beyond its time.
05:50Predominantly we have two types of stone at Puma Punku, and that is red sandstone and gray andesite.
05:59They have found tools made of copper and of iron and bronze at Puma Punku, and with those tools you
06:08can absolutely cut the sandstone.
06:12However, you cannot cut the gray andesite blocks with bronze or with copper or with iron.
06:21What's interesting too is that the stone blocks that we find at Puma Punku, the surface is as if you're
06:29touching glass.
06:30It is perfection.
06:35In 1903, Arthur Posnansky, an Austrian engineer, explorer and amateur archaeologist, traveled to Puma Punku, which by that time was
06:46located in western Bolivia.
06:49Posnansky began the most thorough study of the site ever conducted.
06:54Arthur Posnansky was born in Vienna, Austria in the 19th century, and in his early 20s he moved to South
07:00America.
07:01But very soon after that he became fascinated by Puma Punku and spent almost the rest of his life studying
07:07and researching that location.
07:10Arthur Posnansky lived and researched at Puma Punku from 1904 until 1945.
07:20He was there for 41 years and he absolutely fell in love, not only with the landscapes there, but also
07:30with that culture that put a spell on him and it was his biggest siren call.
07:36When speaking with the Aymara elders, they speak very, very fondly of the archaeologist Posnansky because he respected them and
07:46he respected their culture and he talked to them about what they knew about these sites.
07:52And one of the places that they're in agreement is that the site is much older than it's believed to
07:56be by mainstream archaeologists.
07:58Mainstream scholars believe the site was originally constructed about 1500 years ago.
08:05But Posnansky proposed that Puma Punku was much, much older.
08:11By examining the structures and what he believed was their original alignment with the stars, he dated the ruins to
08:1915,000 BC.
08:21Arthur Posnansky suggests that Puma Punku would line up with stellar objects about 17,000 years ago.
08:29The local indigenous people, the Aymara, they actually have a mythology that Puma Punku has been around for maybe as
08:40much as 17,000 years.
08:42The Aymara people have occupied the area of modern-day Peru and Bolivia for at least 800 years and lived
08:50alongside the Inca when Pedro Cieza de Leon arrived at Tiwanaku in the 16th century.
08:56Both the Inca and Aymara told De Leon and other Spanish chroniclers not only that Puma Punku was built long
09:05before their time, but also that it was the work of the gods.
09:11The locals said it was not us who made this, it was the gods who did it in one night.
09:19The gods who descended from the sky. So normally, every culture says, oh yes, we did it, we had the
09:28knowledge, we were strong enough.
09:30In that case, Puma Punku, the locals say it was not us who made these platforms, it was the gods.
09:39Which gods? Extraterrestrials.
09:46In the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, the tiny island nation of Malta is home to some of the best
09:53examples of what ancient astronaut theorists considered to be extraterrestrial engineering.
10:00The megaliths of Malta are some of the oldest in the world and many weigh more than 50 tons.
10:07But what's even more intriguing are the local legends that claim that these sites were built by beings who came
10:15from the stars.
10:19The Republic of Malta.
10:22Situated across the island nation's 122 square miles, sit the remains of seven megalithic sites.
10:32These include the two temples of Gigantia, Hajarim, Emnidra, Tarshan, Tahajrat, and Skorba.
10:46These marbles of ancient construction were all built with the same type of Maltese limestone, which was extracted from local
10:55quarries.
10:56The fact that they were moving around these multi-ton blocks, building these temples, and actually, when you look at
11:05them, moving the blocks within very, very narrow confines.
11:09Okay, it's one thing to move a block out in the open that's multi-ton, but to then place it
11:16systematically and very carefully next to another one, next to another one, next to another one, to form these beautiful
11:24temple structures.
11:26That's a real engineering feat.
11:30While there are some researchers who believe that Malta's megalithic temples could be as much as 12,000 years old.
11:39Mainstream scholars believe they were created no earlier than 3600 BC, during what is known as the Neolithic Age.
11:49And they also theorize that the massive structures were built by a human culture that used only primitive stone tools.
11:59Archeology suggests, at the time, we barely invented the wheel, we barely had tools, there was no known language, and
12:10we had no writing.
12:12Well, let's step back for a moment and think about this.
12:15From an evolutionary and technology perspective, that makes no sense, because you begin with simple, you continue bigger, bigger, and
12:25then biggest, but you start small.
12:28What we have in the case of the multi-structures is that the biggest are the oldest.
12:35So that makes zero sense from a logical perspective, because there was no evolution in technology.
12:43The archaeologists, they agree with this.
12:48To construct similar temple after similar temple, with the same material, without evidence of writing, shows a high degree of
12:57communication.
12:58And we find terracotta models, in fact, of temples.
13:04And archaeologists have suggested perhaps that this is an early architect's rendering.
13:09This is more evidence of the high-level thought and ability that went into the construction of these temples.
13:19No written records have ever been discovered to explain who built the megalithic temples in Malta.
13:26However, local traditions of the Maltese people have offered a stunning possibility.
13:33They claim that the massive structures were built by a race of giant beings who came to Earth from the
13:41stars.
13:43There is a story that a meteorite came down from the heavens and turned into a goddess, a giant named
13:51Sansuna.
13:52And the locals, of course, were terrified of this giant.
13:55But at a place called Giantia, she started building a temple and moved stones much larger than any human could
14:03ever move and assembled the structure that was so massive.
14:08It remains to this day still a place of mystery, still a giant's construction.
14:16When you see these cyclopean stones, some of them weighing as much as 50 tons, you can appreciate why we
14:25have the story of this giantess Sansuna.
14:27The local legends of Sansuna may sound incredible to some.
14:33However, in the 17th century, a Maltese nobleman named Gianfrancesco Abella claimed to have found forensic evidence that these legends
14:43may have been based in fact.
14:45In the early 1600s, Gianfrancesco Abella was living on the island of Malta.
14:51And he actually wrote about the fact that giants were involved in the construction of these sites.
14:59One of the reasons he wrote this is because he said he found bones, skulls and even giant teeth all
15:07across the island.
15:08And there were other reports of them coming forth at this time.
15:12In order to investigate the local legends connecting giant extraterrestrial beings to the massive structures on Malta.
15:22In 2022, ancient astronaut theorist Giorgio Suclos traveled to Malta's oldest megalithic structures, the temples of Gigantia on the island
15:34of Gozo.
15:36There, he met with Franz von Avendank.
15:39I'm Giorgio. Pleasure to meet you.
15:42An expert in Maltese history, who has lived on the island since 1991.
15:49Look at this. I mean...
15:51Gigantic.
15:51It is gigantic.
15:55Gigantia means the giant goddess.
15:57And it makes sense. Why?
16:00Because right now, I feel like an ant.
16:03We are so small, and especially when you're right next to it.
16:07It's very impressive.
16:09And, uh, in my opinion, still a massive question mark.
16:14There are still questions, yeah. Definitely.
16:17What can you tell us about the dating?
16:19Well, when it was excavated, because we don't talk about discovery, it was always visible.
16:24People thought it was a Phoenician temple.
16:27Okay.
16:27Much later, they realized it must have been prehistoric.
16:30So it was put in the 2000s before Christ.
16:33Then it moves back to the 3000s.
16:35Now we're saying 3600 at least.
16:38Technology has improved.
16:40Different ways of looking at things.
16:41So, therefore, they're getting older.
16:43They were built much earlier than we thought before.
16:47When viewed from above, the two adjacent temples of Gigantia are designed with large abscess
16:53resembling a cloverleaf.
16:55Each housed an altar.
16:58And artifacts suggest a wooden roof covered the entire temple.
17:02Many of the stone blocks stand 20 feet tall.
17:06And some weigh in excess of 50 tons.
17:10Is it possible that we've lost some type of masonry knowledge?
17:15Because you could create it using smaller stones.
17:21Clearly, this required planning.
17:24It required logistics.
17:26Yes.
17:26In my opinion, master builders were at work here.
17:30And mainstream archaeologists are suggesting that whoever built this did not have any writing.
17:34Well, not only would it require writing, but you have to have calculations.
17:39And leadership.
17:40Exactly.
17:41With the evidence of how old or when it was built, who built it, and how it was built.
17:48It might be there, but we haven't found it yet.
17:51I can imagine that people saw this and thought, this must have been the work of a giant.
17:56Right.
17:58Throughout the Mediterranean, you see an association with giants constructing megalists.
18:06For instance, in Mycenaean Greece, there is a structure called the Lion's Gate.
18:13Aristotle mentioned that this construction style was called Cyclopean masonry because of the large stones.
18:20The ancient Greeks figured that only a giant called Cyclops could have had the strength to move these.
18:26The same sort of Cyclopean masonry is present in the Maltese temples as well.
18:33These stories of giants have been an integral part of our entire human history since the beginning of time.
18:44So, is it possible that the reason why we have these stories of these giants is because at one point
18:54they actually existed?
18:56And the answer to that is yes.
19:02Not every example of extraterrestrial engineering are gigantic structures.
19:08Sometimes they're so small, they can fit in the palm of your hand.
19:13Like in the case of a fascinating discovery under the ruins of Teotihuacan in Mexico,
19:18where archaeologists found mysterious golden spheres.
19:29Teotihuacan, Mexico.
19:32This ancient pyramid site was once home to a mysterious civilization dating back to the first century AD,
19:40a time long before the Aztec arrived in this region.
19:46Since the early 1990s, archaeologists have been exploring the dozens of subterranean rooms, tunnels and pathways that lie below this
19:56eight square mile complex.
20:00They've been doing a lot of excavations to understand the nature and the relationship of the different pyramids.
20:08And they're exploring underneath the temple of the feathered serpent.
20:12And so they've made some really nice maps of the pathways and such that are underneath the temple and exposed
20:19caverns in areas that they didn't know existed.
20:22In May of 2013, researchers working beneath the temple of the feathered serpent employed a small robot called Talalak 2TC
20:33to explore the recently uncovered area.
20:37Inside one chamber, archaeologists made a curious discovery.
20:42They found more than a hundred gold-colored metallic spheres.
20:47These tiny balls are probably anything between an inch to about five inches in diameter.
20:56And what we can say is that when they were actually put in place, probably about 2,000 years ago,
21:05you would have had this incredible shining gallery of lights as you went down it.
21:12They appear gold, but when you look at them under chemical inspection, it appears that that gold color is a
21:19mineral pyrite.
21:22The Mexican archaeologists are completely perplexed.
21:25They haven't seen anything like this before.
21:28They haven't seen anything like this in their explorations of the other temples.
21:31So there's lots of questions to be answered still.
21:39Archaeologists retrieved several spheres from the chamber.
21:42And when they analyzed them, they were amazed by what they found.
21:47The sparkly spheres that were found in Teotihuacan really are an enigma.
21:53As far as how they were made, men definitely made them.
21:58We have looked at those spheres and they are clay.
22:01They are like sun-baked clay that was then rolled in pyrite dust.
22:07That's why they have that kind of yellow color.
22:10Why they did it, I don't know.
22:14Nobody knows the purpose of them, why they were made, or even who made them.
22:19But the fact that they're there tells us they are of utmost importance to what went on at the temple.
22:27The golden spheres found under the Temple of the Feathered Serpent are a mystery to archaeologists.
22:34But some believe they may be representations of celestial bodies observed in the night sky.
22:42But ancient astronaut theorists suggest the mysterious spheres could have served a more profound purpose
22:49and point to another discovery made in 1906.
22:55At Teotihuacan, huge mica seats have been found beneath a layer of stone flooring that were 90 feet square.
23:06And they were placed directly on top of each other.
23:10And yet you couldn't see them.
23:12So they clearly weren't decorative or aesthetic, they were clearly functional in their use.
23:21So what were they doing there?
23:24We use mica today in spacefaring technology.
23:28It's a heat shield for high, very, very high temperatures.
23:34What is it doing at Teotihuacan?
23:36What's also fascinating is that throughout Teotihuacan, you see burn marks on the walls.
23:44So at some point, Teotihuacan underwent a gigantic fire.
23:51Or was it something else?
23:54Was it some type of a blast?
23:57Was it some type of an exhaust?
24:01Curiously, mica wasn't the only unusual substance found within the ancient structure.
24:08They actually found mercury under some of the pyramids as well.
24:12So what does this all mean?
24:13Well, mercury is used in different electrical components and it conducts electricity.
24:19So can we suggest that they were using this for some advanced technological purpose?
24:26Mercury itself is very special.
24:28It's a metal, it's a liquid, it's an electrical conductor.
24:32Mercury can be used for many, many devices, all of which are high tech.
24:36So you have to wonder what is going on here at Teotihuacan.
24:41Do these small balls and the mica and the mercury and other facets of the pyramid,
24:49are they all working together to create some kind of electrical device that's doing something?
24:58That would seem to be the case.
25:01Does the discovery at Teotihuacan of both mica and mercury, two substances with high-tech applications,
25:10indicate that an advanced technology once existed in this ancient Mesoamerican city,
25:16one that involved the mysterious spheres found under the Temple of the Feathered Serpent?
25:23We've often suggested that ancient structures may have been used as some type of energy capacitor.
25:32An aeronautics engineer has suggested that the Great Pyramid of Egypt or the whole Giza complex
25:39may have been some type of a giant power plant.
25:43Well, what if Egypt is not the only place where they had something like this?
25:54How do you explain an ancient structure where the walls are built from 20-foot-long basal columns stacked more
26:03than 30 feet high,
26:04all in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?
26:07For ancient astronaut theorists, this place called Nanmedal is a perfect example of extraterrestrial engineering.
26:19Pompeii, Micronesia.
26:22Located roughly 2,500 miles northeast of Australia, lie the ruins of Nanmedal.
26:29This 11-square-mile complex was built out of more than 250 million tons of basalt,
26:37with some blocks weighing upwards of 50 tons.
26:40In 2019, ancient astronaut theorists Giorgio Tsoukalos and David Childress,
26:48along with Micronesia's National Historic Preservation Officer, Gus Kohler,
26:54traveled to Nanmedal to investigate this megalithic site.
26:58Also joining them was structural engineer Dr. Henry Burton.
27:05This thing, it's supposed to be the biggest of all the stones here.
27:11Henry, do you think you can calculate the weight of this?
27:14Yeah, we can certainly estimate it.
27:16I have a measuring tape.
27:17We can estimate the volume and we know the density, so that can give us the mass.
27:21All right, let's do that.
27:23Yeah, so this is about four meters.
27:26All right, here's the far corner here.
27:29Using the dimensions and the density of one of the basalt stone blocks,
27:34Dr. Burton calculates its weight.
27:36250.
27:37Two meters 50.
27:38All right, so based on the measurements, you're looking at a weight of about 54 tons.
27:4154 tons.
27:43So 50 tons, give or take.
27:44And you have one, two, three, four of those monoliths essentially stacked on top of each other.
27:51Mm-hmm.
27:51At a height of 40 feet.
27:53So Gus, what is then the oral history of moving this stone on the island?
28:01Well, according to the legends, the stones were flown up here.
28:07Rocks were brought from the north and they were flown up here.
28:10For generations, the people of Pompeii have told the story that Nan Madal was constructed by strange visitors through a
28:19process of levitation.
28:22It is this legend that is suggested to ancient astronaut theorists that Nan Madal is not only an ancient megalithic
28:30structure, it is also an extraterrestrial one.
28:34Well, we have in the oral traditions a story about two brothers, Olisopa and Olisipa.
28:42They managed to construct what you know today as Nan Madal.
28:47According to oral histories, the stones flew to the Nan Madal area.
28:53How did they fly there? We don't know.
28:56The two brothers who started Nan Madal, according to Bunpen legend, were foreigners.
29:01They were not from here, so we don't know where they were from.
29:05According to legend, the twin sorcerers who created Nan Madal were of giant proportions.
29:12Much like the legends of Easter Island, where it is said that giants magically floated the stone Moai statues into
29:20place.
29:22Similar stories involving levitation are associated with numerous other megalithic sites.
29:28Like Stonehenge in England.
29:31The Great Pyramid in Giza, Egypt.
29:34The Uxmal Pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula.
29:37And Pumapunku in Bolivia.
29:41There are other stories around the world that say the exact same thing.
29:47How gigantic stones were moved into place as if by magic.
29:53And you have to ask yourself, is there a connection?
29:56Did all of our ancestors receive the same knowledge from the extraterrestrials?
30:01And the answer to that is a resounding yes.
30:05We've done scientific studies and 40% of the rocks that comprise this site here came from the north.
30:12So it does kind of collaborate our oral legend that it came from the north.
30:18The other 60%?
30:19I think they don't know where it came from.
30:21But it's not from here, right?
30:23Nobody's been able to source that.
30:25So yeah, 60% of the stones, they don't know where they came from.
30:28That's incredible.
30:30The 60% is essentially still a mystery, yes?
30:34Huh.
30:37For decades, mainstream archaeologists have been frustrated by their failure to identify the source for much of the basalt used
30:45in the construction of Nan Madal.
30:47But recently, a growing number of scientists have become convinced that it came from a volcanic outcropping,
30:54located 25 miles northeast of Nan Madal, called Huisin Malaq.
30:59The unusual formation extends over 400 feet into the air.
31:03And incredibly, the rock used to construct Nan Madal appears to have been extracted from the least accessible part of
31:10the mountain.
31:11The very top.
31:13But how?
31:15According to the oral history of Pompeii, the basalt was taken by what the natives referred to as a giant
31:21bird.
31:23There's one story that says that at some point there were these giant roosters that lived on top of that
31:31mountain.
31:31And this rooster took these basalt blocks and flew them over to Nan Madal.
31:39Now, monster roosters do not exist, so my mind always goes to misunderstood technology machines that were provided by the
31:50extraterrestrials.
31:57When it comes to extraterrestrial engineering, look no further than the great pyramids of Giza.
32:04For ancient astronaut theorists, these colossal structures are the perfect example of how humans constructed an extraordinary site with the
32:15help of otherworldly technology.
32:22Jerusalem, 2016.
32:26Researchers with the Israel Antiquities Authority studying the Dead Sea Scrolls make a major discovery.
32:34Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, they uncover a passage of ancient text previously unseen by the naked eye.
32:42These researchers have discovered a new passage in the Dead Sea Scrolls that indicates that Noah's Ark wasn't in the
32:50shape of a ship at all, but was in the shape of a pyramid.
32:56Curiously, this is not the first time that Noah's Ark has been depicted as a pyramid.
33:01In the 15th century, Italian artist Lorenzo Ghiberti created his masterpiece.
33:10A series of 10 panels that depict scenes from the Old Testament.
33:17The Italian sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti was selected to create the doors going into the new Florence Cathedral, the Il Domo.
33:26These doors are called the Gates of Paradise.
33:30And something that is very extraordinary about them is that in one instance he shows Noah's Ark as a pyramid
33:36that resembles the Great Pyramid of Giza.
33:39Is it possible that Lorenzo, while he was working for the church, learned about the true nature of Noah's Ark
33:48and then depicted it in his sculpture?
33:55According to historians, the Pyramid of Giza, constructed in 2600 BC, was the first pyramid ever built in Egypt.
34:04And the Great Pyramid was built 100 years later.
34:07But the dating of the Great Pyramid, and the two smaller pyramids that stand next to it, is a point
34:14of major contention.
34:15With many researchers suggesting they were built much earlier.
34:23Egyptologists often assume that the older pyramids are less well created and smaller, such as Zoser's pyramid.
34:35And that ultimately their building got better and better until they finally built the Great Pyramid as their final construction
34:42masterpiece.
34:44But it may be completely reversed of that, and that the Great Pyramid, which is by far the best of
34:49all the pyramids, is actually the oldest of the pyramids.
34:55Two and a half thousand BC, according to archaeology, humans made the Great Pyramid.
35:00Now, in old writings, especially in the Book of Enoch, and in the so-called Hittat, which is a book
35:06from an Arabian writer, they say the Great Pyramid was constructed before the Great Flood.
35:12What if the Great Pyramid existed perhaps even for millennia before the Zoser Pyramid?
35:18Then the Egyptians come along, discover it, and decide, hey, maybe we can make one of those too.
35:23And that's when they build the Zoser Pyramid.
35:25Perhaps the most similar common motif or style is the pyramidal shape that seems to exist throughout the world.
35:36In Egypt, in Mesoamerica, in China, giant earthen mounds in the shape of pyramids. Why pyramids?
35:43Is it possible that pyramids were built by cultures all around the world because they were trying to recreate much
35:50older structures that survived a Great Flood?
35:53Ancient astronaut theorists say yes.
35:56And some researchers have even suggested that those pyramids that were built by pre-flood civilizations represent a form of
36:04lost technology.
36:06In his 1998 book, the Giza Power Plant, noted machinist and engineer Christopher Dunn proposed that the shape, positions of
36:16chambers, and proximity to underground rivers indicate the Great Pyramids of Giza functioned as power plants.
36:25I personally think that the pyramids were some kind of energy generators.
36:31And here we have the strange idea that the ark itself wasn't a boat type shaped thing, but it was
36:38actually a pyramid.
36:40So is it possible that whoever built the pyramids of Egypt was doing so to try to preserve their technology?
36:55One of the oldest structures on earth is a megalithic site in Ireland called Newgrange.
37:01What's remarkable about this ancient passage tomb is not only its age, but the mythology that says it was engineered
37:10by an otherworldly being to be a home for the gods.
37:14And it's a great place.
37:18Count Neum, Ireland.
37:22Here in the Boyne River Valley, a large circular mound rises out of the earth, the Newgrange Passage tomb, built
37:31around 3200 BC.
37:33It was constructed with over 200,000 tons of stone
37:37quarried 75 miles away
37:40and contains one passageway
37:43that leads to a centralized chamber.
37:47New Grains is one of the most important sites in all of Europe.
37:51It was possibly a stone circle with 36 or 37 stones.
37:55Only 12 of these still remain.
37:57And after that, a huge mound made of stone and earth
38:02was built within the stone circle itself.
38:05Within this, we have a huge chamber,
38:08which is a cruciform shape or a cross.
38:10It's got some beautiful carvings on the 97 kerb stones
38:14that go around the edge,
38:16as well as on the main entrance stone
38:18and within the chamber itself.
38:20Mainly zigzags and spirals
38:23and most notably a triple spiral
38:25at the back of the main chamber within the actual site itself.
38:31New Grains was designed to honor the winter solstice.
38:35But according to a book published in 2012
38:37called The New Grains Sirius Mystery,
38:40the entire mound was also built
38:43to align with the star Sirius A in the night sky.
38:47The declination of Sirius is the same
38:50as the winter solstice sunrise moving across the sky.
38:53And through the light box,
38:56which is a rectangular area,
38:58just above the main entrance,
39:00this is where you witness
39:01not only the sunlight coming through,
39:03also later in the day,
39:05Sirius light coming through as well.
39:10The Dogon of Mali in West Africa
39:13claimed that their gods came to Earth
39:15from the star Sirius B.
39:19Ancient astronaut theorists
39:21connect these visitors to gods
39:23with similar names all over the world.
39:28But they also point out
39:30an intriguing connection to New Grains in Ireland.
39:34In addition to being in line with the star Sirius,
39:38legend says that this megalith
39:40was built by a Celtic god, Dagda.
39:43The main god that's associated with New Grains
39:46is called Dagda.
39:48So here, once again,
39:49we have this same word
39:51that appears to mean something
39:53about gods coming from Sirius.
39:56The god known as Dagda
39:58was said to be the leader
39:59of a group of otherworldly beings
40:01called the Tuatha-de-Danaan.
40:04So the Tuatha-de-Danaan
40:06were this renowned fairy race
40:08that arrived mysteriously in Ireland
40:11many thousands of years ago.
40:12The supreme deity
40:14of the Tuatha-de-Danaan
40:16was Dagda, or Dagda Moore,
40:18and he was a renowned god.
40:21He was said to have built
40:23and lived inside New Grains.
40:26They had very advanced weaponry
40:28and different types
40:30of what sounds like machinery.
40:32Also, they toured
40:33the high arts of civilization,
40:35and they were said
40:36to be almost like
40:38the shining ones
40:39of the biblical tradition.
40:40It's almost like
40:41a science fiction movie
40:43when you start looking
40:44at these ancient Irish myths.
40:48Could New Grains
40:50have once been
40:51an alien outpost on Earth?
40:54It's certainly
40:55an intriguing possibility,
40:56and just one of the many examples
40:59of diverse ancient constructions
41:01that defy our current understanding
41:04of just how and why
41:06they were made.
41:08From the megalithic temples of Malta
