00:18his money
00:211985 ford 82 10 tractor oh what a machine you're sat in here you look out and you've got a
00:28nice
00:29dead street bonnet a massive pipe and you think that's cool that fantastic car she's a phantom as
00:35you can see unbelievable condition absolutely superb yeah cover some miles in the day compared
00:41to a horse and garage didn't you 45 now the speedo is quite accurate it's lovely
00:49the matthewsons a dynasty of classic car auctioneers 55 the joys of an auction most
00:57people will go to us out with something in mind but come away with something different
01:01the fun is the chase we'll have a look and we'll advise you from there you just don't know what's
01:06on the end of the phone what you're gonna find when you open them doors this is a family's love
01:10affair with motors that have lived a life testing testing most people will buy a car because they
01:17can relate to it maybe a car that dad had you're selling dreams right here we go
01:41it's a busy week with motors coming and going just tow it around the car park put it in the
01:47back
01:47corner out the way and the team swap reading speedometers for water meters have you rubbed it with
01:54your finger yeah uh three three nine three three three nine three three one eight that's it
02:01how many how many threes have you got in there three three nine which ones are red and which ones
02:06are black oh god three one eight's red all right perfect marvelous can you do the same on the next
02:12one as well you're joking aren't you times are hard are they the jobs that you've been resigned to
02:18now i know i thought i was moving up in world but i'm clearly not am i a sphinx in
02:23there
02:28in thornton le dale dave's getting match fit for his latest collection where you're heading
02:35acrington not acrington stanley i always remember that on the football results they used to read them
02:39out on television and i always remember acrington stanley i can just sort of see these like 1970s
02:45footballers in my head you know god knows why yeah so we're going down to meet diane she's had the
02:49little car for i think more years than she'd care to admit she sounds lovely nice day little jolly over
02:57to rackington one car to pick up what could possibly go wrong hopefully nothing other than i've already
03:02forgot to bring the tire inflator but i'll rustle up one of those from somewhere and you've got your
03:07tom cruise aviators i know just found them in my land rover you look at them cool ain't they
03:12hey that takes 10 years off me didn't it takes 10 years off me anyhow i'll go i'll speak to
03:17you later
03:27me husband had a cake shop and i wanted a second car for work so i used to see this
03:32car pass every
03:32day oh i thought hey that's appealing because we had a couple of grand to spend you know there was
03:37a
03:37for sale sign up the back and we tried to follow it down the back streets of all of acrington
03:42and
03:42then we found it in the paper and paid 1200 pounds which was a lot of money really tucked away
03:49behind
03:49the terraces in acrington is diane graham's morris mini traveler a small car with big memories
03:57i'll notice that the garage door isn't fully open doesn't been open for years how does dave get a car
04:03out well we need 10 strong men to come and help us i think to get the garage door open
04:08well as dave you
04:09can count me out because obviously i'm filming so we might have a bit of a problem right we'll see
04:13i'm strong and obviously the tires are all flat and worn out so all in all then dave's in for
04:20a bit
04:20of an afternoon he is he's gonna make his money former practice nurse diane used the almond green
04:30mini as a daily driver but with a move to lytham st anne's on the horizon it's time to say
04:35goodbye
04:37i used to deliver the flu jobs around the nursing homes i didn't do a lot of miles it was
04:43only in
04:43the local areas reliable no no necessarily that's surprising for a minute the car been in the garage
04:53for how long i would say since 2007 that was the last tax disc i used to run it up
05:00and down the back
05:00and then obviously because it wasn't going anywhere i just closed the door on it you did well to close
05:06the door i know the door was all right at the time oh sorry that succumbed to rust as well
05:11as yes along
05:12with the car it was immaculate when we bought it but obviously wear and tear and we had to have
05:19it
05:20resprayed and that's how it was it was immaculate i actually did the wood myself i varnished the wood
05:26myself with york varnish this is my daughter natalie in the swimming costume it must have been a nice
05:33day like it is today she used to love it she used to pretend to drive it didn't like it
05:38when it broke
05:38down and how old's daughter there i would say she's about eight and how old daughter now she's 34. so
05:45it's a few years ago then yeah definitely obviously it was different to the rest on the road and it
05:52was
05:52used to be admired quite a lot i used to get notes put on my window screen all the time
05:57asking if it was
05:58for sale i want it to be brought back to life and used bring it back to immaculate what do
06:05you think
06:05it might be worth today i don't know i really don't know i've seen one for sale on ebay 25
06:13000
06:13i think i had a cooper s engine in though so a sporty model yeah but obviously you appreciate
06:20there's a lot of hard work that needs to go into oh of course yeah so probably safe to assume
06:26it might
06:26not do 25 000 i don't think so if it did i'd be very happy
06:39i don't think so if you want to buy them all i have yeah yeah
06:53probably a ford escort gtr and you want the morris ice cream
06:58home what a collection i know you've got to buy them all oh yeah yeah
07:04amongst the lots a car that's sure to be right up someone's straza looks a nice straight genuine
07:12old car this one doesn't it and when they're right like this here looks to be the electric eater on
07:18the
07:18dash hmm this 1976 1600 vw beetle has just landed when they're right i think they're a great old car
07:31really they're a good driving car aren't they i mean they're bound along they're long-legged just a
07:35really good easy to drive long distance sort of cruiser really in saloon form they were bought and
07:41probably used and abused a bit the soft tops were bought by a different person who would nurture it
07:47high days and holidays a toy and therefore generally speaking there's more of these survived and
07:53survive better it wants a bit of a cleaner tons up and odds and sods but generally speaking it is
07:59very it's very straight and very presentable inside's lovely hood fits good i think whoever buys it
08:06will have a load of fun out of the old car money-wise it's going to do sort of somewhere
08:11around sort of
08:1210 11 grandish which isn't a lot of money for a classic tour is it you know four seater at
08:16that
08:17you know so all right there's not acres of room in the back is there but there is a back
08:21seat and you
08:22get the kids in can't you what do you have one not really me if i'm honest no they don't
08:26float my boat
08:27really that said if it had a load of petrol in it and and somebody said you can use it
08:32for a few days
08:32like today i'll go in with it tonight it wouldn't bother me
08:53dave's arrived in accrington not for a match but for a motor
08:58pleased to meet you oh good to see you yeah diane graham's morris mini traveler has been
09:04languishing in the garage since 2007 behind a door as temperamental as the car
09:14clearly dave's had his weetabix it's kept quite well really it does yeah so what you just fell out
09:19of love with it or got something else or well i've got a regular car it's just you need money
09:24to throw at
09:25it we've kept it up to immaculate for so long and then our mechanic retired so ah that's yeah that
09:32was it really you used it a fair bit then obviously oh yeah i used to take my daughter all
09:37over when she
09:37did her acting and singing and oh she's definitely been part of the family then oh yeah definitely
09:42i'm really sad for it to go but common sense has to prevail i'm moving to st anne's you see
09:47oh blimey
09:48are you going there yeah my daughter lives there so i'm selling the house you don't you don't buy houses
09:52as well do you have you not auctioned a house before no i don't think we've done a house i've
09:58always wanted an estate agency though yeah i always fancied doing it yeah you can sell anything yeah
10:03i think it's kept real well i've got a big file full of paperwork that i've spent on it in
10:09the past
10:10and what we're doing with 4981 that's my private plate you can sell that as well and that no good
10:15to
10:15me now really you know are you groveling on the board i'm groveling just to see we'll see it better
10:21in the minute when it gets out on the back of that lorry but yeah typical little little mini there's
10:27a
10:27lot underneath that needs a bit of addressing yeah someone will take it on you mark my words it will
10:33be
10:34a pit for money it'll be like the fourth road bridge once it started it'll be like oh my word
10:40uh i'm gonna just see if we can get a little bit of air in the tyres just five or
10:44ten psi be better
10:45than zilch and then when they don't i'm gonna go back to plan b uh it's always good to have
10:51a plan b
10:52and then yeah and then back down and put the winch on it and press the button is that plan
10:56b
10:56that's plan b do we go beyond that or no we'll see how those two go first and then we'll
11:01worry about
11:01see later on yeah helpfully dave's left his tire inflator back in thornton the dale
11:08so plan a translates as borrowing kit from damien next door don't put a load in though just put like
11:1510p's iron yeah just enough to get yeah yeah just if i'm being a bit optimistic here like 10p's right
11:21we might get two out of four that one's completely finished as well yeah and that one's leaking i can
11:26hear that one coming out oh well we'll make the best of it they're only flat at the bottom they're
11:31only
11:31flat at the bottom there you go brilliant she's a little bit tender bless her he's called morris
11:41yeah well morris is just a little bit soft underneath here don't we're not quite on plan c yet just
11:46open
11:47that the subframe doesn't come out and the car stays in the garage while dave ponders why he didn't
11:52send jack on this job diane's neighbor damien is back with some more gear ain't got a flat screwdriver
11:58over damien have you just to pop these tubes off it's worked out all right yeah yeah are you gonna
12:04take any tools they were there's no need because damien's next door with with a van for the tour the
12:08wife known as lucky day but anyway i thought you'd have got all this ready for us dying to be
12:13honest
12:13with you but anyhow you can do it just like he's done it before isn't it yeah i think he
12:28knows what
12:29he's doing so morris has seen the sun for the first time in a long time it's sad it's going
12:35to the right
12:36place and hopefully a new owner and a new lease of life definitely that's what i'd like for it
12:42getting it on weren't so bad getting it off could be fun
12:59every year thousands of lots pass through the auction and each one has a story to tell
13:05rally champion charlie has grown up with diesel in his dna
13:09and this 1985 ford 8210 tractor couldn't be closer to home
13:16his dad's tractor he's had it four or five years now he bought it and it wasn't painted
13:22had no bonnet no grill it was with it but not on it all the cab was different colors the
13:26fellow
13:26that owned it never got around to actually getting it finished prepped and ready to paint
13:31so we had it painted and funny enough it's the first vehicle and thing and anything that's dad ever
13:38sent away to be painted and it was mainly because we didn't have anywhere to do it at that time
13:42and if it had been a year later we could have done it that has to be my favorite pick
13:47purely and simply
13:48because i can relate to it i absolutely love it i think i've done more hours in it than dad
13:53has to be
13:53honest with you it's lovely it really is and the only thing that really lets it down is the interior
13:59but that's all original and to be fair we didn't really want to mess with it and make it too
14:03nice
14:03because then we wouldn't use it i find that nice to look at i really do yes it's got a
14:07bit of mud on
14:08it that was me but it's almost cruel to put it in a shed like this when we had it
14:12we were working it
14:13well i was working it and it's all well and good because they get used and it's better to be
14:18used
14:18than just to be stood so what sort of features are really cool about these sorts of tractors for me
14:24it's sound because they all sound so nice the naturally aspirated ones sound lovely but the turbo ones
14:29just sound beautiful like turbo's just there look you can see the bottom half of it and that exhaust
14:34goes straight out of there and straight up there no no silences no no nothing and they sound so nice
14:40they really really do we've had a few counties in the the flat bonnets the slopey bonnets the slopey
14:45bonnets obviously do more this won't do county money because it's an 8210 but it is a gen one
14:50because the gen twos have lights in the top of the cabs and there's quite a few of them around
14:54i don't
14:55really know what it'll do to be honest with you dad doesn't really want to sell it i don't really
14:59want them to sell it because you know i'd get in it and go anywhere it'd be very slow and
15:03it'd take
15:03me very long but i'd get there and probably a lot of tanks are diesel what it's worth and what
15:08it'll
15:09do are probably two different figures aren't they but i would have thought it would be worth somewhere
15:13between 16 and 18 somewhere there whether it'll do that i don't know it's not a tractor sale is it
15:19it's a vintage vehicle sale more than anything that's far quality that joe
15:26oh yeah solid as a rock man there you are look that's got to sell it handbook so talk me
15:32through
15:33what's nice about driving a tractor you go that's slow you've got loads of time to react that's the
15:39good thing you're sat in here you look out and you've got a nice dead straight bonnet a massive pipe
15:45and you think all right that's cool you can drive these quite young can't you 16. i turned 16 on
15:51the
15:51first of january i had my test on the 16th passed it and i did it in this i did
15:56my testing this there
15:57is something special about them i really don't know what it is but i think it sort of spells from
16:02that
16:02big growly straight six up the front i think and while most teenagers dream of supercar speed
16:09there was only one choice for charlie's end of school celebration prom was in scarborough but
16:15maybe sort of 10 mile from where we live and it took me 55 minutes to get there 55 minutes
16:22and i was
16:22flat out all the way i thought i was going to be late at one point but i wasn't all
16:26right
16:27it's a pretty thing it is isn't it as far as tractors go
16:32yeah you're gonna miss it yeah i think i will it might not sell yet you don't know do you
16:38but
16:38i think i will yeah it's um
16:43yeah and i think i will miss it
16:49selling it provisionally for the first second third and last time provisionally it's auction day
16:55and upstairs in the office jill's wondering about a different kind of beetle mania
17:01they were really rattly weren't they that rear engine was like they have a a certain tone
17:06served petrol years ago we had a customer had a jeans beetle it was like orange and it had jeans
17:10on the bottom in a black line every time he came in wanted to fill in up and check the
17:14oil check the
17:15water and like blow the water check the water yeah really i think he might have been having a wind
17:20up
17:21with you no honestly that was every customer yeah i know but beetles were air-cooled
17:24it wasn't him then that's why he never gave me a tip that's why you've never checked his water
17:31bloody things 1976 volkswagen 1303 biebel oh a nice car this proper car this right here we go
17:41convertible beetle whereabouts then come on six we're away and a quarter and a half six five seven
17:46fifty six seven fifty good value that six thousand seven hundred and fifty provisionally only six
17:52seven fifty my advice is keep it to the next sale six seven fifty the beetle owner was hoping for
17:59a bit
17:59more and the next day a surprise offer is made hello it's jill here at matthewson's he's offering nine
18:07thousand five hundred for it i oh she's chuffed oh let's ring the man who's bid on it yeah i'm
18:16just
18:16ringing to tell you that it's been accepted don't tell me that 82 and naked in the shower and like
18:25well you wouldn't be clothes on in the shower would you why would you answer the phone in the shower
18:35it's time for charlie's prompt ride to head into another sunset
18:411985 ford 82 10 tractor oh what a machine what a machine it's away lovely
18:50superb charlie likes this and what's going to be 10 grand 10 000 5 11 000 5 11 5 12
18:57000 pound and going
18:58then 12 000 pound got more on my sheet here 12 and a quarter 13 13 13 000 i've got
19:04on the internet
19:0413 yeah internet yeah 13 the quarter 13 500 750 13 750 mark's telephone 13 7 14 internet 14 do
19:17you want
19:17a quarter mark it's only money tell him 14 and a quarter right 14 5. all right she's going to
19:2314 5.
19:24five cheeky cheshire just sneaked in you know what they're like down there 14 500 submitting for the
19:30first second third and last time only joking cheshire thank you for your bidding paul was hoping for a
19:37bit more and it later sells for 17 grand you're taking me baby are you i am and the ford
19:4682 10 tractor
19:47is offering new life as a left field limousine you can't keep them all can you you've got to move
19:54on
19:54it's a good tractor and a special old thing and um yeah it's um you know it's
20:03charlie's done more in it than i have to be honest i bought a john deer with a loader on
20:06which is a bit
20:07more used to me and i'm not scared to use the john deer whereas this yeah i didn't really want
20:12to use
20:12it not really work it you know it's a show tractor in it so away it goes manchester way somewhere
20:18cheshire is it cheshire is it yeah well it's manchester way from here well it's going to a
20:24wedding spot by the looks you're not going to get that that much call for it on the old wedding
20:28front
20:29i wouldn't have thought but you never know dear to get one that has been nurtured is far between simple
20:34as
20:48they were the ultimate car probably in the day for somebody who wanted a status symbol a statement
20:54of quality and what have you statement of success as well i suppose i can't remember the exact number
20:58of phantom ones made they didn't make a lot of them and the reason is because they were hugely expensive
21:03i gather they cost roughly the same as a large country house so it wasn't for everybody
21:08in ledbury classic car collector chris spate is having a clear out soon he'll be downsizing
21:15and this 1929 rolls-royce phantom will need to find a new custodian
21:23it just makes you feel special it takes you back in time as well it makes you think about an
21:28era when life was clearly very very different and people that were in a position to be able to
21:32afford a car like that how fortunate they were i've been thinking about how sad i'll be when it goes
21:38but i'll also feel really privileged to having owned it for four years and it's been an amazing
21:43experience and had it not been for the fact that i'm not going to have space for it in the
21:48future
21:48it definitely wouldn't be going anywhere after a 30-year stint as an exhibit at the prestigious
21:54martini motor museum in switzerland chris bought the phantom as a non-runner and set about having
22:01it fully recommissioned i think it's about 18 19 foot long so it is quite large as far as we
22:07know
22:07that's the original pillar light it's got uh twin spare wheels uh side mounted spare wheels the body
22:13work is a barker it's a pullman sports limousine it's the original body original engine obviously as
22:19far as we can tell the car is almost completely original apart from the color so what happened
22:24with the color it was restored in switzerland um by a chap who was a bugatti restorer as we understand
22:29it and we just wondered if he had a bit of bugatti blue left over because it certainly looks that
22:33sort
22:34of color to be honest when i first bought the car i didn't like it and my wife loved it
22:37so naturally
22:38it stayed that color and uh it's grown on me and i really like it now it seems quite popular
22:43this was built in the day when henry royce was still alive and the build quality is just
22:48unbelievable you know if they looked after properly they will last forever this car's 95 years old
22:52i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't live another 95 years who knows
22:59before there was the phantom there was the ghost putting rolls-royce on the map as the makers of the
23:04best car in the world the silver ghost biggest moment came in the 1913 alpine trial 1800 miles of
23:13mountain passes and steep climbs where they didn't just finish they dominated
23:20its successor the phantom was a gargantuan seven-seater constructed in derby uk and springfield
23:27massachusetts owned by dukes diplomats and hollywood royalty marlena dietrich's one was unearthed in a barn
23:34in 2007. fast forward a century and the phantom still making headlines with actor jason momoa transforming
23:45a 1929 rolls-royce phantom 2 into a fully electric vehicle the most ambitious and complex eb conversion
23:53ever undertaken
24:00the engine is just under eight liters it's a six-cylinder engine on this car you have to move
24:05the mascot to clear the bonnet
24:09that is the engine it's again largely original it is fitted with electronic ignition which is quite unusual
24:16and not original but it runs very well with it never caused me a problem it was on the car
24:20when i got it
24:21never need to adjust the points or anything like that it's almost too beautiful to tell i'm really
24:27wrestling with it it's been a hard decision it's taken about a year to come to the decision but
24:31i am retiring we're downsizing housewives i just won't have anywhere big enough to store it
24:36regrettably it's going to have to go but it will be sadly missed hopefully somebody will see it and love
24:40it and bid on it and still got time chris to hold on to it don't tempt me in the
24:47ideal world i'd love
24:48it to go to somebody who understands them who wants one who can afford to look after it properly and
24:54i
24:54don't mean somebody with lots of money who can put it into somewhere to be done but somebody who can
24:58afford the time if he hasn't got the money to do it himself and has the knowledge and the ability
25:02i'm hoping it'll find somebody who's enthusiastic about it and just loves the fact that it's so
25:07beautifully original
25:13as auction time approaches the browsers are out in force
25:18i've always liked the 914s this has got the fuchsia lois red tiger top it's absolutely mint do you
25:26approve of this purchase i do you do i do so which one do you prefer the blue capri i
25:32think it looks a
25:32lot cooler that's all i know he's in charge she's in charge really i i prefer the porsche because they're
25:41cool there's red and you like stuff in the 70s don't you she's a big black sabbath fan
25:49and there's also a secret shopper nosing about this undercover boss may think he's incognito
25:56but those brogues are a dead giveaway here we have a little traveler that's a nice original interior
26:02a little bit of an upgraded dashboard and such like people didn't like the wood they maybe do now
26:07but they didn't really like the wood on the morris minor traveler there ain't much purpose really i
26:12think it's cosmetic it's just as easy to press out a flat panel for one of these there and not
26:18bother
26:19with the wood but they are pretty quintessential british it's only the british that would retain
26:24something like that i think the americans and any foreign manufacturers would probably make
26:28an all-steel body and stick the wood on we go that bit further and actually make it an integral
26:34part of the vehicle in my opinion they're super looking little thing they're lovely
26:38the 1968 morris traveler is crying out for a bit of tlc and a lot of welding but also sitting
26:46pretty inside is an austin mini countryman same iconic dna less rust when this model came on the
26:56market little estate car look that was really popular really really popular what do you reckon
27:05the one that we'd all want one that i'd want one that most other people would want the old woody
27:10i think will do extremely well he looks to me like a very very honest car i personally think it'd
27:15do
27:16five or six grand a really lovely one could do 15. this one eight grand you'll have more bidders on
27:22that you will this loads more loads more loads more that will create a lot of interest and do all
27:28right
27:32the dawn of another auction day the above dealer sign look at the sounds of that
27:37well i know you've got a big garage 400 for the second third and final time
27:43from a heavyweight sign to a mini with a soft underbelly and now we have a 1968 mini traveler
27:50lovely little uh mini there now we went down and collected the car two or three weeks ago
27:56diane's owned the car forever district nurse bless her so where are we going to be who wants to start
28:00me then the little morris mini who's going to start me at four thousand pound please ash four thousand
28:04pound as a launch anyone going to start me at four thousand pound then four thousand pound that's
28:09the probably the value of the number plate i would think nope no one on there nope have a word
28:13with
28:13the office upstairs and it's here to be sold so they'll try their very best to put a deal together
28:18for you i'm sure despite derek's prediction that there'd be tons of interest diane's mini doesn't get a
28:25look in however it later sells for four thousand pounds to a serial collector in northern ireland
28:32who also scoops up an austin mini countryman and some memorabilia
28:38as for the well-turned countryman that derek looked at six two for the first second third last time
28:52with several minis making their way out that leaves just enough space for one massive motor and derek's
28:59arrived in ledbury to collect the 1929 rolls-royce phantom from chris spate morning chris nice to meet you
29:07lovely to meet you mate lovely to meet you all right this is a beast isn't it yeah the big
29:11old lump
29:12isn't it isn't she just hey yeah and it's about 1929 yeah very very last of the phantom ones a
29:17picture
29:18of it when it was brand new oh that's the actual car is it yeah and it was black all
29:23over yeah i don't
29:24like it quite being in your lounge better than being in your lounge guys like chris and i we should
29:30really
29:30put a television there you know leave the family in the house of a night and come out and just
29:35sit
29:35in the car and watch dad's army that's really what we should be watching shouldn't it absolutely
29:41wonderful it's just pure luxury isn't it yeah incredible those people that had the money to
29:47enjoy something like this sometimes the full history of a vehicle isn't easy to come by
29:53especially for cars of this vintage but oh the stories this one could tell
29:59the original owner was captain bowls apparently he was a decorated world war one hero that fell
30:05on hard times a little bit and he got into drink and gambling and all this type of stuff and
30:10he then
30:10somehow hooked up with john factor i think he was the half-brother of max factor oh yeah yeah but
30:16he
30:16was the exact opposite he was absolute crook apparently and then you've got they got involved with this
30:20massive share fraud which even the royal family was sucked in on apparently and yeah there's an article in
30:25the paperwork is that right yeah and that brought in this car he only had the car a couple of
30:31months
30:31so we think whether he bought it with the proceeds and then got arrested and it got seized or whatever
30:35i have no idea i can imagine that yeah lovely bit of history yeah it is remember a quick look
30:41at the engine
30:42yeah of course yeah again it's not a mint thing but it's enormous isn't it great lump in it wants
30:49to be an
30:50aeroplane didn't it half a merlin yeah not quite because they're 28 liters on the one thing it's
30:56not original it's got electronic ignition oh really and he had it when i got it it works perfectly you
31:01still have to advance and retire it it's obviously a fixed one and the magneto doesn't work i've never
31:05bothered to look into why because that works so well even the fuel gauge works does it which is a
31:09little pump on the dash pressurizes and then the gauge comes yeah yeah they're remarkable yeah it just
31:16needs a certain type of owner doesn't it it does you know like you yeah is there another one out
31:22there do you think another fruitcake like me well there is yeah there's oh well we're all you know
31:26wired up wrong aren't we there's no question about that um it's just questioning the finding one that
31:30wants the rolls what do you think it'll do oh i'm gonna upset you now what 35 to 45.
31:36uh you're probably not wrong yeah you're probably not wrong if you fancy just driving around the
31:41village run if you want to yeah just start incredibly well hot and cold it always starts
31:47immediately it was lovely well you should do shouldn't it yeah cover some miles in a day
31:53compared to a horse and garage didn't it 45 now the speedo's quite accurate it's lovely
32:06beautiful beautiful car absolutely stunning drove really lovely the car performed perfectly
32:11as always it's going to keep it in the car for now the idea was to take them off so
32:14if you leave
32:15the car parked in the town or something nobody steals it because they're worth a good thousand
32:18pounds hold it there chris hold it there happy with that or not bloody big isn't it
32:27just come on a touch but only a few inches yeah steady that'll do yeah it's like picking up a
32:35tractor ain't it right yeah i'm done all right right on we go yeah thank you have a certainly thank
32:40you
32:41sorry to see it go but we all have to move on don't we hope the next owner enjoys it
32:45as much
33:02i think you're going to need a bigger bottle well then i'd have to do more wouldn't i have to
33:07finish with an end spot so in fact no i'll just keep going with this little one some cars are
33:13easy to
33:13miss in the packed showroom but this rare survivor is winning hearts all over pickering
33:19i think they are fantastic they really are a work of art and such good value for money now the
33:26quality
33:26of fittings and workmanship i think it's just amazing i mean look at that look at it if you'd
33:32have said to me up until five years ago do you want one of these others no no you're okay
33:37i find
33:38myself now leaning towards them i could see myself in something like that the only thing you have to get
33:43the right model because obviously these were predominantly built for passenger comfort
33:50not driver comfort so you've just got to make sure you've got the right model because there isn't
33:58actually acres of room for the driver and obviously i'm a driver i'm not going to be driven about am
34:02i
34:03because i get the enjoyment out of driving the millionaire rolls-royce owner in 1929 it was obviously
34:09just all about comfort in there so yeah it's they're not the it's easier to get into a lotus really
34:17than it is but it is one of these but she's lovely but i like to sit way i like
34:24to sit right back
34:25and recline a little arguably probably not quite the model for me but nonetheless i think it's fantastic
34:35i mean there i mean i mean it's just yeah it's just a different world in there it really is
34:43a
34:43different world it's just lovely it's not particularly challenging sat in the back here if i'm honest
34:48if i didn't enjoy driving so much then it is the ultimate carriage isn't it really if i ever win
34:55the
34:55lottery and i become a billionaire i think i'll have to buy one and just occasionally just be chauffeured i
35:01think and just enjoy the experience i think i was born for the back of a rolls-royce wouldn't i
35:06might
35:06have been conceived in one but i don't know if i was born for one but uh and yeah there
35:11you go that
35:11might be my connection with it fantastic car she's a phantom as you can see unbelievable condition
35:21absolutely superb very interesting providence on it in as much as it was bought by a fraudster start me on
35:27that lots of interest with me 25 26 27 28 29 30 30 with me 30 31 absolutely for nothing
35:3632 000 pound can i
35:38say three 32 5 i've got do you want three ireland galway 32 500 provisional keys there we are 32
35:485.
35:49at seven and a half thousand under its estimate the offer is accepted the phantom's next chapter begins
35:56in ireland
36:01starts in gear as well starts in gear yes make sure you've got your foot on trade right okay
36:09a couple of years ago serial collector alan chambers bought a dutch-built daf marathon 66 from the auction
36:17there's a very few of them about and i don't know if there's any in northern ireland i don't think
36:22so
36:25a few years on and the daf and alan are still very much together
36:30it starts every time it sets and you go back to it six months later turn the key away it
36:36goes it's a
36:37great car it's very easy to drive if you remember there's only two pedals basically once you select
36:43the gear forward gear put your foot in the throttle where you move off it can be tricky if you're
36:49doing
36:50a hell start you have to rev the engine quite a lot to get to move off it's quite lovely
36:54to drive on the
36:55road now the daf's been joined by a few more auction treats from across the water including the fina glass
37:02petrol pump globe the rally sign and the 1961 austin mini countryman that's the one i was after
37:10the 61 restored very rare car the very early travelers had the petrol tank on the pasture side
37:17internal tank so there's very few like that thought it needed a wee bit of work but the more i
37:22looked at
37:23the pictures realized hadn't an awful lot of work required so then i discovered there was a 68 morris
37:30traveler as well which need restored so i brought the two home joining alan's collection of minis is his
37:37four grand impulse buy along with a free pallet i like being my nice i like more rare cars i
37:45wanted
37:46something to start restoring that there wasn't an awful lot about and lucky enough i got it nobody else
37:53seemed to be interested in it so yeah it's come my way so what do you think not too bad
38:00we'll see what
38:01like when we put it up on the left but i think it'll need a bit of work a lot
38:05of welding required
38:06i think might have to call on a proper welder hmm but we'll see a bit of a hole here
38:13a bit of walk required
38:15here what to be expected some frames quite quite bad i think the hardest job in this car is getting
38:26started
38:27it's a sinking feeling that's our restoring classics team know all too well so a few cobwebs the looks of
38:35it
38:36i see you know some woodworm too has come across as well so i'll have to deal with that it's
38:41looking
38:42good you know it's growing on me the fact that it's here now i'll enjoy working on it i can't
38:48see any
38:48reason why of itself just keep it so it's a keeper it probably is probably is get at it and
38:54get stuck
38:54in as i say the biggest job is probably getting started
39:04beautiful bit of river but the fishing is wonderful we've done france spain places like that
39:12but it's an actual treat to come to southern island i've been wanting to come for a long long time
39:18we're delivering this beautiful rolls royce phantom one to its new owner and so we're looking forward
39:24to see his reaction and i know it's a good car i know it drives nice but he will need
39:28to do a tiny
39:28bit of recommissioning when a vehicle of 95 years old is transported you generally get a lot of oil
39:34splashing around and of course every old car is built to leak anyway
39:39in county galway kevin cunningham also finds himself at the end of another long journey
39:47i sold a 1919 buick just pre-covered i've been looking for a new car since
39:52i just saw this car and i just fell in love with it and it has a great history file
39:57to it and we
39:58intend to add more history to the car lovely little stores little petrol pumps outside red diesel
40:07on tap and i've passed three lovely little pubs which i'd love to be in each and every one of
40:14them
40:15but one is great to have the weather that has been delivered on a sunny day in ireland which is
40:19great and i'm very excited to meet derek as well i'm looking forward to the spirit of ecstasy it hasn't
40:25got it on at the minute it's supposed to be in the car but they have what they call a
40:28town cap and
40:29that's what's honored at the minute terek you're welcome to mount value lovely to see you hey up dog
40:34what do you call her riley oh lovely lovely lovely lovely there she goes then mate isn't she magnificent
40:40eh yeah look at them headlamps yeah the marshall headlamps yeah beautiful aren't they you know and
40:45what we do when i let you down i want you in it just in case something gives you know
40:49yeah yeah and get
40:50the brake can't you okay yep by crumbs this heavy damn thing you know it's like two cars on there
41:01straighten her up yeah you're fine yeah keep it going yep lovely that'll do yep a little lovely
41:12we'll get on the spirit of ecstasy before you go yeah nula will you put it on one lady to
41:17another
41:23perfect look at that
41:28beautiful well done absolutely brilliant lovely
41:33it's a beautiful body isn't it hey wait you see this yeah look at that
41:38it wants to be in the spitfire doesn't it yeah and this here it's all set up oh she's
41:42she's in it already she's in it already stay where you are stay where you are that should be the
41:47only
41:47one that you'll switch on ignition like that but anyway you'll sort that out and the wood
41:52look at this beautiful and there that's more comfortable than your settee i'll tell you now that
41:58is that this is more comfortable than ours she's beautiful stunning look at that i want to make them
42:03look at that they've moved in already moved in they've moved in no i'm so looking forward to
42:07getting it started and taking her for a nice casual run you'll be absolutely delighted
42:12riley hop in the car riley just loves the car beautiful care and such a beautiful color i think
42:18it's going to turn many ahead see it's a work of art the timber work the roof lining the glass
42:25the french
42:26headlamps which was an extra as well plan we'll do a few of the shows we always end up doing
42:31a few
42:32charity runs for different organizations and the odd family wedding as well you know it's a foot starter
42:38so there's a lot of things to learn and when they start you have to turn certain things off but
42:43we just
42:43have to to learn the procedure i think i'll be driven rather than be driving it quite comfortable in
42:50rolls-royce thank you mate thanks for super to meet you really really good and really enjoyed it it's
42:58been a lovely trip bye bye now met the most superb family there and it's so rewarding to see his

43:16job worthwhile
43:51you
