00:01:45A nice calm spring evening on the outside.
00:01:48But inside the Target Center, it is loud.
00:01:51And a raucous sellout crowd for Game 4.
00:01:55A chance for the Timberwolves to take a 3-1 lead.
00:01:58A chance for the Nuggets to even things up.
00:02:00Tonight's starting lineups powered by Shopify.
00:02:02And the number one story for Denver, Aaron Gordon returns after missing Game 3.
00:02:08He is a vital piece to their puzzle on both ends of the floor.
00:02:12And for the Minnesota Timberwolves, this starting five was terrific with their start the other night.
00:02:17They all started and scored in double figures.
00:02:20They weren't even the leading scorer.
00:02:21It was a great balanced attack for Minnesota to take the 2-1 lead.
00:02:26And for the first time tonight, let's check in with Lisa Salters.
00:02:29Hey, Lisa.
00:02:29Hey, Mike.
00:02:30Well, David Alleman told us that even though Aaron Gordon may not be 100%,
00:02:34just the fact that he will be on the floor tonight should be huge for the Nuggets on both sides
00:02:41of the ball.
00:02:42After missing Game 3 because of left calf tightness, Gordon was questionable for this game.
00:02:47This was about an hour ago.
00:02:48He was out on the floor pregame, testing that left leg, trying to get an honest feel for what he
00:02:53could do.
00:02:54But even if he's limited, David Alleman said Gordon will have an impact, especially offensively.
00:02:59Because he can play the point and allow Jamal Murray to play off the ball, which Alleman said calms down
00:03:04the Nuggets offense.
00:03:05So Gordon, he's going to get it to go.
00:03:07He missed a lot of time this season because of injury.
00:03:09He missed Game 3 up there.
00:03:11He missed it, but he will be trying to play for tonight.
00:03:13He's trying to help the Nuggets even up this series.
00:03:17All right, Lisa, wow, is it loud in here.
00:03:19The Nuggets were the number one rated offensive team in the NBA during the regular season.
00:03:24But in Game 3, their worst shooting performance of the year, 34% from the field.
00:03:29They never led in the game.
00:03:31It was a domination, and the Koliokic really struggled.
00:03:34But this is the beauty of the NBA playoffs, the chance in the next game.
00:03:38And watching the response, especially the team with championship pedigree, is always fascinating, Richard.
00:03:43No, it is always fun.
00:03:45And again, when you talk about the three-time MVP struggling, we said it in the open.
00:03:49He had 27 and 15, and it was his worst possible playoff game.
00:03:53So to see a champion and an MVP answer the call, that's what I'm excited about.
00:03:59Minnesota with a signature game.
00:04:01They threw down the gauntlet.
00:04:02They challenged Denver, first with words, and then with a dominant victory.
00:04:07As we're sitting and underway here in Game 4.
00:04:10McDaniels had a great two-way game.
00:04:12Randall guarded by Gordon.
00:04:13Gordon, an excellent defender.
00:04:15Randall gets the first shot to go down.
00:04:17Nice little flex action right out of the gate to get Julius Randall on that baseline cut.

00:04:24Not much Aaron Gordon could do.
00:04:26But more importantly, they were testing out Aaron Gordon on the very first play of the game.
00:04:30And will continue to do that throughout.
00:04:33Jokic had a horrific shooting performance.
00:04:35Many shots he normally knocks down.
00:04:37Murray really struggled shooting as well.
00:04:39His first shot won't go.
00:04:40Fight for the rebound.

00:04:46Dante DiVincenzo was such a spark.

00:04:56Edwards didn't even have to have a good game in what was a dominant victory.

00:05:23And Steve Vincenzo calling for someone to come out.

00:05:26They don't see it.
00:05:27And now they do.
00:05:29The Nuggets can inbound.
00:05:31They're going to blow the whistle now.
00:05:34Grabbed his Achilles.
00:05:35When he first went down, he reached down and grabbed that area right where his Achilles tendon is.
00:05:43So they rush now to try and help Steve Vincenzo.

00:05:52Back in Minneapolis, Dante Vincenzo.
00:05:55You see number seven or number zero.
00:05:57And you see that right leg right away on the push off.
00:06:02He grabbed the right calf, right Achilles area.
00:06:05Stayed down.
00:06:05Now he did get up and walk back to the locker room.
00:06:10And was able to put some weight on it.
00:06:12And there was he was calling the team to come out and call a timeout.
00:06:15And this was him walking out.
00:06:16Obviously a limp.
00:06:18And so Julius Randle and everybody just sick to their stomach, hoping that it's not a serious injury.
00:06:25But Steve Vincenzo back in the locker room.
00:06:27As soon as we get any update, obviously we'll just pass it along to you.
00:06:32Aaron Gordon.
00:06:33His jumper comes up short.
00:06:35And Randle the rebound.
00:06:37Now Sumo, who comes in, he was the star of game three.
00:06:40Gets it back.
00:06:41The ball hit the baseline.
00:06:43Sumo had 25 points, nine assists off the bench.
00:06:46One of the great bench performances in Timberwolves' playoff history.
00:06:52Always you think about for the team that loses the player who's back in the locker room,
00:06:55how does that impact them emotionally right now, guys?
00:07:00No question.
00:07:01Listen, that's so disheartening.
00:07:02And we're all praying it's not the worst case scenario.
00:07:04But, you know, when you come off of game three and the vibe that you had as well as your
00:07:09team is playing to go through something like that this early in the game, there's no doubt.
00:07:14Not only an emotional jolt to the team, it's an emotional jolt to the building as well and the electricity
00:07:19that was in here at the start of this game.
00:07:21Well, ironically, DiVincenzo, Richard, all 82 games he started, one of only four players in the league who started every
00:07:28single game during the regular season.
00:07:30Well, we met with him right before the game.
00:07:32One of the league's good guys.
00:07:33But also, I think, as the fraternity, the Denver Nuggets players get affected by seeing stuff like that.
00:07:40Jokic gets that first one to go.
00:07:42None of those shots fell the other night.
00:07:44His first attempt goes down here in game four.
00:07:47And the Timberwolves bench is screaming for three seconds because Jokic posted up twice and he never really left the
00:07:54lane.
00:07:54Very difficult fadeaway from deep over Gobert.
00:07:58Ramble misses.
00:07:59Brown the rebound.
00:08:02Brown, like many of his teammates, struggled in game four.
00:08:05Jokic finds Gordon.
00:08:06Gordon, corner three, too strong this time.

00:08:10And it looks like Aaron Gordon is still kind of being tentative, like he's not exploding.
00:08:14On that pull-up there, it was short, and it's a 10-foot shot.
00:08:18He doesn't look like he trusts it quite yet.
00:08:20Hopefully, he'll get more comfortable as the game progresses.
00:08:22It's a left calf for Gordon.
00:08:26He got cleared to play.
00:08:28Obviously, now we're going to post up McDaniels.
00:08:31The spin move just kind of flips it up.
00:08:33You can see he's not bouncing right.
00:08:36Yeah, and that's the flip-up.
00:08:38That's normally when he explodes.
00:08:39One of the most athletic guys in league history.
00:08:42Looks like he can't explode with that same type of confidence.
00:08:45When he spun, he had perfect leverage to go up, jump off two feet, put that hand up by the
00:08:50square and lay it in.
00:08:51Clearly didn't have full confidence that he was going to be able to get off the ground.
00:09:06And that's why we were saying we don't, we're not used to seeing him be inefficient.
00:09:12He has the ability to make bucket after bucket in such unique ways.
00:09:16It was a stunning performance as McDaniels drills that one.
00:09:21Jokic was just 7 of 26 from the field.
00:09:25But he's hit two of his first three.
00:09:27Minnesota, though, leads by three.
00:09:29Cam Johnson backdoor.
00:09:31Lost it out of bounds.
00:09:33They say last punch by the sumo.
00:09:35The crowd doesn't like it, but the sumo's not arguing.
00:09:38But this is Jokic at the top of the key working.
00:09:40He gets it up and then offensive rebounding over two players and just that water polo touch.

00:10:15So I think there's a good chance there was some contact on that right there.

00:10:22Still able to concentrate through that shot.
00:10:26They're leaving Gordon wide open.

00:10:34Well, Gordon 0 for 4 to start.
00:10:37He's so important to this team defensively and not just scoring-wise,
00:10:41but he's one of the real playmakers for them.
00:10:43He is.
00:10:43And if you don't think the Dante DiVincenzo injury just now
00:10:47and seeing a player go down that and you're playing hobbled,
00:10:49if you don't think that that causes a ripple effect on both teams through this arena,
00:10:55Aaron Gordon is a soldier.
00:10:57We saw him last year in Game 7 come out and play against OKC.
00:11:01You know he wants to be on the floor,
00:11:03but also you can tell he's playing with caution.
00:11:05David Alleman, the coach of the Nuggets,
00:11:08as Christian Brown gets inside, layup too strong.
00:11:11He was saying that he still can't believe Gordon played in Game 7 of that series last year.
00:11:16He goes, that injury was a 4 to 6 weeks recovery, and he played the next game.
00:11:20Randle misses, but draws the foul.
00:11:25Round call for his first personal, and Randle will shoot too.
00:11:29And that was just determination on the part of Julius Randle.
00:11:31I mean, he had that ball at about 35, 40 feet, knew that he was going to get single coverage,
00:11:36put his head down, and then just knew he was going to put his shoulder into Christian Brown.
00:11:41You see right here, he's surveying it.
00:11:43He comes out of that spin.
00:11:44And nobody really stepped into that driving lane,
00:11:47so he was able to take it all the way to the rim.
00:11:50Randle, 15 points in Game 3, 24 in Game 2, 16 more in Game 1.
00:11:56That's a superb regular season.
00:11:58It's obviously his second season in Minnesota since the acquisition from the Knicks.
00:12:04Had some very big playoff games last year.
00:12:07Those are the numbers so far through the first three games of this series.
00:12:15Team Wolves here at home during the regular season, 26 and 15.
00:12:19This building the other night, I got it to town early and watched the game from the stands.
00:12:23It's one of the loudest buildings I've heard all season long.
00:12:26Now in the open, they were all standing up.
00:12:29This is the first time I think I've seen him sit down since this game started.
00:12:34Jamal Murray, the spin move, now shoots over McDaniel, gets it a go.

00:12:40That was nice.
00:12:41He used his speed as he turned the corner.
00:12:43He knew that McDaniel was retreating, was not going to be able to stop and then recover
