00:10Summers are brutal with the heat.
00:13It'll melt your shoes, your skin, it'll tear you up for sure.
00:18If it's too hot outside, the bad guys don't want to go out and commit crimes.
00:22When the nighttime comes, the freaks come out.
00:26Put your pants off!
00:28When that sun's gone, people think they can hide the bad stuff in the dark.
00:31This is the I don't believe face.
00:34One team, one family, we always pull together.
00:39Get a bunch of bags!
00:41What the f*** am I in handcuffs for?
00:45It's very dangerous.
00:46Backup isn't always closed.
00:50Not an emergency.
00:52You're gonna kill me.
00:54Assaults, robberies, shootings.
00:57It's lawless out here.
00:58It's gonna get hot tonight.
00:59A little bit of spice is always good.
01:01Stop having sex.
01:02Put your jeans on.
01:04See you in the wild, wild west, Tucson.
01:07It's the witching hour.
01:08Don't tap out on us yet, okay?
01:29I'm gonna hit 20 years in March.
01:31I could just retire at that time.
01:33You would think you would get tired of it, but I love it.
01:36And I still can't get enough of it.
01:41Who knows what tonight will bring?
01:43That's the best part of this job.
01:45Keeps you guessing.
01:48Hello?
01:49Hello, this is 911.
01:53911, 911.
01:54911, 911.
01:57911, where's your emergency?
01:59The girl just ran through my front door screaming.
02:04She looked like she was coming through my doorbell,
02:06but she kept running.
02:08911, you're still screaming outside.
02:10Okay.
02:11We have deputies on the way.
02:17Thank you for your assault.
02:18I'm awesome, man.
02:22To assault a female walking down the street,
02:24that's somebody that we need to go get,
02:26get them off the street.
02:32Ma'am, can I talk to you real fast, please?
02:35I'm a detective.
02:37So, I know something traumatic happened.
02:41Are you okay now to talk about it?
02:43Yeah, I'm good.
02:43Okay.
02:44If I'm able to drive you over there,
02:45would you be able to show me exactly where it happened?
02:47Yeah.
02:47Okay.
02:48All right.
02:50This young lady,
02:51we do have to collect her items of clothing,
02:54so we can take them for DNA.
03:00Right here at this thing is where he grabs me.
03:02Right here?
03:03Right here.
03:04All right.
03:04If you don't mind, if you can,
03:06we'll get out and you kind of show me what happened.
03:09I do want to start from the beginning, okay?
03:11So, I was walking and for some reason,
03:14I kept feeling like someone was watching me.
03:16As I'm turning this side of the school,
03:19he's walking this way.
03:21So, he grabs me.
03:22Uh-huh.
03:22I start screaming and he realizes
03:25I need to cover her mouth, I'm guessing.
03:27Okay.
03:27So, he has one hand holding me
03:29and one hand covering my nose and my mouth.
03:31I was thinking, I'm going to die.
03:33I'm not going to see my daughter.
03:34That's the only thing I could think of.
03:36And do you remember what kind of clothes he was wearing?
03:38He was wearing a long gray shirt to his knees, maybe.
03:41That long, big, baggy, long gray shirt.
03:44He was like a big circle.
03:46Like overweight?
03:47Yeah, he was chunky.
03:49Okay, and then you said that, uh,
03:51that's when you started running this way?
03:52Yeah.
03:52So, he grabs my mouth and I do a turn like that
03:57and I see him and he's just standing like how you are
04:00and I just start running.
04:02So, I'm like tripping and no one's answering their doors
04:05and I don't even know if he's following me
04:07or running away or staying where he's at.
04:10I was screaming my head off.
04:12My heart was telling me from my first round
04:13that it had something to do with the semi.
04:16Do you know if anybody was in the semi?
04:19I turned on and I was screaming.
04:21How did they not get out of the car?
04:23I just don't understand.
04:24We're going to do everything we can, okay?
04:26Let me get you home.
04:39She's pretty certain this thing was involved,
04:41but we don't know.
04:43It's still on,
04:44so we're trying to make contact with who's driving it.
04:48But because there's a cab in the back,
04:50I don't know if he's in there,
04:51if he's hiding,
04:51if somebody is even in there
04:53or if this semi's even involved in any way.
04:57It could have been a coincidence.
04:58We don't know.
05:03Is that them?
05:03The truck driver.
05:11Well, we need to talk to the owner of the semi.
05:14Is he at your house?
05:16Does he normally leave it on?
05:22Okay.
05:23I'm going to go with you over there
05:24so you can talk to him, okay?
05:25Yeah.
05:34That truck is yours, you said?
05:35Yeah.
05:36Okay.
05:38Maybe about 30, 40 minutes ago,
05:40did you go out there and turn your truck on?
05:44I haven't been around the truck since...
05:47Who turned it on because it's on right now?
05:49No, the reefer's on.
05:50The reefer has been on since I got here.
05:54It hasn't been turned off at all?
05:56Okay.
05:58The individual who we're talking about, right,
06:00says she heard it turn on.
06:02So I'm trying to verify
06:04when did the truck turn on,
06:07where were you at,
06:08have you been inside the whole day
06:09or were you out,
06:10did you go turn it on,
06:11come back inside,
06:12what happened?
06:14Inside?
06:14Yeah.
06:17Hello?
06:18Hello.
06:19Hey, I don't know if this guy matches.
06:21He's not chunky.
06:23Okay.
06:24Can you just do a good, basic,
06:25where were you,
06:26what's going on timeline?
06:28Yeah, he says that truck has been on
06:30since 2 o'clock this afternoon, so...
06:33Okay, and he's saying
06:33that he was never in the truck?
06:35No.
06:36He says it's been on.
06:37He's like,
06:37I was sleeping, he said,
06:39because I'm getting ready
06:39to leave to L.A. right now.
06:41Okay.
06:42We don't have a reason to keep him,
06:43but try to get as much out of him as you can.
06:46Okay.
06:47All right, thanks.
06:48Oh, thanks.
06:51I want to go over to the street corner
06:53where the victim pointed out
06:56where she first saw the suspect
06:57and see if they have any cameras over there.
07:01This could be a potential kidnapping.
07:04Somebody who's going to do this
07:05to a woman in the middle of the night,
07:06walking,
07:07probably has a propensity
07:09of serious violence.
07:11We need to find this guy.
07:14Hello.
07:15Sorry to bother you so late.
07:16Oh, you're fine.
07:18So we had an incident.
07:19Do you have cameras
07:20that would face right here?
07:22Yes, we do.
07:23So we have the camera
07:24that's going to get all the way to there.
07:25We have the camera over here
07:27and a little bit over here is locked.
07:29Okay.
07:29Is there a way we can take a look?
07:31Yes, I can look at it
07:32and send you all angles.
07:34Thanks so much for your help.
07:35You see that white sign right there?
07:37That she said it happened
07:38the next white sign
07:39in front of that one.
07:41Okay.
07:41And I can see the cameras?
07:42Okay.
07:42Does that pick up anything this way?
07:45Once you get to the cement here,
07:47it'll work.
07:48We're hoping maybe
07:49the guy ran this way
07:50and he passed your house.
07:51Can you have him?
07:52Look at my face.
07:53Okay.
07:57The victim seems to be
07:58in complete shock,
07:59but she's with family right now.
08:01We've taken her clothes
08:03and we have checked
08:05ring cameras around the area.
08:08There's a lot going
08:08through my mind right now.
08:13Hello?
08:14Sorry, check the video.
08:16There is a man
08:17that you can see on the video.
08:19Okay.
08:20Let me pull over.
08:20Hold on one second.
08:22Okay.
08:23Go ahead, ma'am.
08:24You can see the man
08:25walking by.
08:26I mean, the camera
08:27was a little dark,
08:28but I don't know.
08:29The guy was wearing
08:30like sweats or something,
08:31but you can't see him
08:32on the camera.
08:33Okay.
08:34It's not a very good picture,
08:35but if she recognizes him,
08:37it's something obvious
08:38that you could recognize
08:39the person.
08:39Okay.
08:40Wow.
08:41I should just give you
08:42my detective badge.
08:43I appreciate your help.
08:45No worries.
08:47That's what we're here for.
08:48Thank you, community.
08:50I love it when
08:52we have very good witnesses
08:55that are concerned
08:56about their community
08:57and step up.
09:00This guy is definitely
09:02a person of interest
09:03in this case.
09:04This is a serious incident
09:07and we need to
09:08do everything we can.
09:25You can definitely
09:26sense a different feeling
09:27in the air.
09:28It's transition time
09:30from summer into fall.
09:34Summer's wrapping up
09:35out here.
09:35Our temperatures are finally
09:37starting to drop a bit.
09:41For me,
09:41it's my favorite time of year.
09:44You know,
09:44the kids are going
09:45back to school.
09:45College kids are coming back.
09:47If there's going to be
09:48a week in the party,
09:49it's probably going to be
09:50this coming weekend.
10:12There was a collision
10:14at a gas station.
10:15We're going to rush over there
10:17and see what's going on.
10:21And you think he's been drinking?
10:24Yeah.
10:25He thinks he's at home.
10:27I don't know if he's going
10:28to try to drive off.
10:32We're getting updates
10:33from the caller
10:34saying the mail appears
10:35to be angry.
10:41Go ahead and step
10:44out of the car for me.
10:47Step out of the car.
10:49Lock the car.
10:55You're going to step
10:55out of the car, okay?
10:56Lock the car.
10:58You're not your house.
10:59Unlock the car.
11:01I'm investigating a crime
11:02and you're my lead suspect.
11:04What we're going to do
11:05is you're going to
11:05step out of the car, okay?
11:07Put your hands behind your back.
11:08Yes, sir.
11:08Put your other hand
11:10behind your back.
11:11I'm sorry, babe.
11:12I'm sorry.
11:13An ambulance is on the way.
11:14We're going to get you
11:15checked out.
11:15Then we're going to
11:16do our investigation,
11:17all right?
11:18Yes, sir.
11:19How can I listen to you?
11:21So you think it's okay
11:22that you're crashed
11:23into a hole?
11:24You're covered in blood.
11:25You smell alcohol.
11:26I'm homeless.
11:27This is my house.
11:28What did you want?
11:30You see that pole?
11:31Yes, sir.
11:32You hit that pole.
11:33All right?
11:36Hey, bud.
11:38What's your name, man?
11:39Can you talk to me?
11:41You want me to check you out?
11:43Why the f*** are I here?
11:45I don't know, man.
11:45I'm trying to figure it out.
11:46I just got here.
11:47I'd really appreciate
11:48if you let a fire
11:49help you out here.
11:50You've been in
11:50a pretty serious collision.
11:53Can we clean you up?
11:54You got some blood.
11:54Okay, but hey.
11:55Yeah.
11:57Can you tell them
11:58that they're blaming me
11:59for a f*** that I do, dude?
12:04I'll watch them.
12:05You want to stay home?
12:06Okay.
12:08I'm trying to go.
12:10I'm trying to go.
12:11Just take a second
12:12to get your foot in, man.
12:13Just make sure you don't get dizzy
12:14or fall over or nothing,
12:15all right?
12:16If I ask you to walk
12:17in a straight line,
12:18do you think you'll be able
12:19to do that physically?
12:20I don't know.
12:21No?
12:21Okay.
12:22What about standing on one leg?
12:23You think you'll be able
12:23to do that?
12:25Okay.
12:26I'm not...
12:26Don't get old, though.
12:27Can you see the tip
12:28of my pen?
12:29Yeah.
12:29All right.
12:30So I'm going to have you
12:31follow this with your eyes
12:32and your eyes only.
12:33All right.
12:35If you need to lean
12:36against the car
12:37to help you out a bit,
12:38that's fine by me as well.
12:39Yeah.
12:41Good.
12:42All right.
12:42So follow this
12:43with only your eyes, okay?
12:50You want to lean
12:50against the car
12:51so you don't lose
12:52your balance?
12:54I'm going to be placing
12:55you under arrest
12:55for the U.S.
12:56Okay?
12:57I'm going to wait.
12:59Take a seat
12:59inside my car.
13:01If you spit on me,
13:02you're getting
13:02an additional charge.
13:03I'm tougher.
13:04Get your leg
13:05in the car.
13:06I'm just going to put
13:07a spit hood on you
13:09because I don't want
13:09to be covered in blood.
13:12He could have caused
13:12a major collision.
13:15And apparently
13:16you wouldn't have
13:16even known
13:16because he's that
13:18intoxicated currently.
13:27Navy County Sheriff's
13:28Department.
13:29I have an unoccupied
13:31home.
13:32I have a car parked
13:33in front of it.
13:34It's been there
13:34for about 30 minutes.
13:36I'm not sure
13:36what's going on.
13:43There's a suspicious
13:44vehicle on the hilltop.
13:46It's a private road.
13:47There's not a lot
13:48of traffic.
13:49So we don't know.
13:50It could be a burglary
13:51or something else.
13:57You're going to roll
13:58down this window
13:58for me, bud.
14:00I believe it hits
14:01and any searches
14:01or seizures
14:02that you got for me.
14:03OK, noted.
14:04So the car rakes
14:05like marijuana.
14:07All right,
14:07you want to step out now?
14:10I'll have you do this
14:11then.
14:11You want to step out?
14:16All right,
14:16you're just hanging out
14:17on that wall
14:17with the rest of them.
14:19Are there any weapons
14:19or anything that's
14:20out of the vehicle?
14:20No?
14:22Do me a favor,
14:22just while we're talking,
14:23doing our investigation,
14:24go to hang out this one.
14:25Thank you,
14:26I appreciate it.
14:26I'm going to call you
14:27Baghdad.
14:30We're just kids.
14:31Free to weed.
14:33Do you guys have
14:34any weapons?
14:35And guns?
14:37Knives?
14:39What's up?
14:43Who's actually
14:43got any weapons?
14:44They're not.
14:46You were scared
14:47so you lied to me.
15:00It's a shotgun.
15:02Mossberg 20 inch.
15:07It's a loaded shotgun.
15:12Chamber's empty.
15:17Weird knife.
15:20Open container too.
15:23Marijuana.
15:26It's a bullet.
15:27It just doesn't
15:29go to a shotgun.
15:31Oh, that came
15:32with the car.
15:32I just got the car.
15:34Because you lied
15:34to us once, right?
15:35So, and then I find this,
15:37right?
15:37No, I don't know.
15:40Did you see that sign
15:40when you pulled up?
15:41Uh, I don't know.
15:44No?
15:44I mean, it's pretty big,
15:45you know?
15:46Well, uh,
15:48I've stayed with you.
15:50Okay.
15:52And they're all?
15:5318.
15:54Uh, 16.
15:55Drivers, 18.
15:57Rear passenger.
15:59Uh, 20.
16:02Hi.
16:03Come on.
16:04To one of them.
16:05This way.
16:08What were you doing?
16:10One, two, three, pops.
16:13What were you doing?
16:17No, I'm waiting for you
16:18to tell me.
16:19What were you doing?
16:22Seriously,
16:23I raised you better.
16:26Don't go down.
16:28Don't go down.
16:29This situation,
16:30it's so unacceptable.
16:32You're a dumbass.
16:41It's always a good feeling
16:42to get a gun off the street,
16:44especially when, uh,
16:46kids are involved.
16:47Someone sees it as kids
16:48getting harassed by cops.
16:50That's what the narrative
16:51usually is.
16:52But in this case,
16:53probably prevented something,
16:54something bad from happening.
17:03As we, uh,
17:03we kind of creep out
17:04of the peak of our summer,
17:06we're getting into, uh,
17:08cooler weather.
17:09There's more activity outside.
17:10There's a lot more people
17:11trying to, uh,
17:11pursue crimes of opportunity.
17:13A lot more interactions,
17:14a lot more potential
17:15for things to escalate
17:16between people.
17:17So, yeah,
17:18we'll definitely try
17:18to be pretty vigilant tonight.
17:28I don't know,
17:28where's your emergency?
17:30Hi, somebody's just
17:31hopped over our wall.
17:32Are they in your backyard?
17:34They were.
17:35And then they saw us,
17:36and then they jumped back over.
17:39Okay.
17:39Did you see any weapons
17:40or anything?
17:41No, no.
17:42No, I couldn't get a look.
17:44It's just right now,
17:44like, you know,
17:45less than a minute ago.
17:47I'm not gonna be heading
17:48out there right now, okay?
17:49Okay.
17:54We're gonna head over
17:55to a suspicious individual call.
17:57Uh, somebody called
17:58about a, uh, male subject
18:00who just jumped
18:00over their residential wall
18:02into their backyard.
18:07We have an additional
18:11reportee from a separate address
18:12reporting a suspicious individual
18:14that came up to their door,
18:16uh, knocked on their door,
18:17and then ran off
18:18the toilets have washed.
18:20We're going to, uh,
18:21want to get into the area
18:21pretty quickly
18:22and see if we can locate him
18:23before he ends up running
18:24straight into somebody's house.
18:32Hey, were you guys, uh,
18:33one of the houses
18:34that had this guy run up to him?
18:35Yeah.
18:35Okay.
18:37He ran that way over?
18:39Okay, did you guys have a video
18:40or a photo or a photo or anything?
18:41Yeah, my casket, hold on.
18:43One of the 1017s has a video or a photo.
18:49What was he doing?
18:50He was just standing.
18:52Okay.
18:54I just asked him
18:55what did he do?
18:56He started running.
18:58He ran up the road here,
18:59and then...
19:01He's like, watch right there.
19:02He went into the wash?
19:03Okay.
19:03Trying to get...
19:05Okay.
19:06652 updated descriptors.
19:07Number one, male.
19:08Sleeve tattoos on both arms.
19:10A dark-colored tank top.
19:12I know he hopped into
19:13somebody else's yard right now, too,
19:14so I think he's running around.
19:15Probably a little tweaked up.
19:19Survey copies.
19:20We are active surveillance.
19:22We're pretty confident
19:23that it's the same suspect
19:24moving from house to house.
19:26People were pretty shaken up
19:27even as we were talking to them.
19:30He's walking northbound.
19:32You asking any northbound?
19:35Our air unit has eyes on somebody
19:37they think the subject
19:38is matching what we have
19:39from our videos.
19:46He's walking northbound.
19:54Yeah, yeah, this is him.
19:55There's 26.
19:57What's going on, brother?
19:58So now you put both your hands
19:59behind your back for me.
19:59What's going on?
20:00There you go, brother.
20:01There you go.
20:02What am I doing wrong?
20:04Do you have any weapons on you, man?
20:06Knives, guns?
20:07No, man.
20:08Nothing like that.
20:09Just right here.
20:17He's not doing too much.
20:18He's doing his job.
20:19Okay.
20:20You get searched
20:20after you get arrested.
20:22When you get to the jail,
20:23you get stripped out,
20:23but we're still responsible
20:24for doing a search in the field.
20:26All right?
20:26You can't walk into the jail
20:27with a gun
20:27or a bunch of drugs
20:28stubbed in your crotch
20:29or something, right?
20:30So we're doing our job.
20:38Okay.
20:38Well, you are the one
20:39that made this situation, man.
20:41We didn't put you in this.
20:41I was just trying
20:42not to get hurt.
20:43All right.
20:43You can grab a seat back
20:44in the car, man.
20:46We're positive
20:46this is our guy
20:47that we were looking for.
20:48He's still very erratic.
20:50We're trying to make sense
20:51of some of the stuff
20:51he's staying.
21:05The video and photo
21:06for this case
21:07really was a game changer.
21:09We have a really good relationship
21:11with our community out here,
21:12and I think that's what
21:13might have helped.
21:15We're glad we got him
21:16off the streets.
21:17You know, who knows
21:17how many more yards
21:18he would have went into.
21:20Just another day
21:21in good old Pima County.
21:35So there's a report
21:36of a malnourished horse,
21:39and Deputy Reid is en route,
21:41and we'll go over there
21:43and see if it indeed
21:45looks emaciated.
21:47We do get a lot
21:48of these animal cruelty calls
21:50with horses.
21:51I don't know why people
21:52want to have horses,
21:54yet they don't know
21:54how to take care of them.
21:56A lot of them
21:57just sit and bake in the sun.
21:58They don't have any shade.
22:01So these are important
22:02calls to go to.
22:11Okay, so this gray one
22:13right here,
22:14you can see the ribs,
22:16clearly.
22:18I don't see any water source,
22:19I don't see any food.
22:21Yeah, we just want
22:22to get the horse some help.
22:24Hey.
22:25If they want to self-surrender
22:26the horse,
22:28then good.
22:29But if he's going to be
22:30a jerk about it,
22:32then it might be a call out
22:34where we have to get
22:34a search warrant.
22:35Got it.
22:37I'm a detective
22:38with the sheriff's department.
22:39Okay.
22:39Is that your horse?
22:40Yes.
22:41Is that your horse?
22:51Is that your horse?
22:54Is that your brother?
22:55No, no, no, no.
23:00I'm ready to get
23:02to get the horse.
23:03I'm ready to get
23:04This is your boy.
23:05It's not your boy.
23:13All right, so they are okay with you coming to come pick up the horse?
23:18Sounds good.
23:18Thanks, Ted.
23:19All right, bye.
23:24Hopefully now this horse will be properly taken care of, bed, water, and around other
23:31horses and just live out its days and just be happy.
23:49I have seen and done things that I never knew I was going to get into when I signed up
23:55for this job.
23:56I had no idea.
23:59I love being out in the field.
24:01I feel like this is where I can do my best work.
24:04It's just going to be hard when I have to walk away from it.
24:21760, traffic.
24:26This is a 25 and 35 down this road, and this guy revved up his engine pretty hard.
24:30It was going way faster than that.
24:35Hello, I'm Deputy Lane with the Sheriff's Department.
24:37Let me take a guess of why I'm pulling you over here.
24:40Speeding?
24:41Yeah.
24:41Yeah, boy, you hit the roundabout, man, and you kind of gunned it.
24:45Do you know what the speed limit is right here?
24:4625.
24:47Yeah, 25 and 35.
24:48Depending on where you're at, because it's all residential.
24:51Did I go over 35?
24:52You were going well over.
24:53I had to go like 55 to even catch up to you, and I hit the roundabout right after you
24:57did,
24:57man.
24:57Yeah, I didn't realize that's why I got that.
24:59All right, man.
24:59I'm going to cut you a break on it, okay?
25:01Just going to get a warning for it.
25:03All right, man.
25:03Slow down for me, and you guys have a good night, okay?
25:05Yep.
25:07It seems like he was showing off for his friend and the girls that were in the backseat
25:13of his car.
25:14We cut him a warning for the speed.
25:16It wasn't an unbearable amount.
25:19It's a good stop to at least talk to him and tell him to slow down a little bit.
25:25You know, I'm coming up on two years on patrol, and it's been nothing but a great experience.
25:31I've learned a lot.
25:33I love being able to patrol the roads that I used to drive my first car when I was going
25:38to high school, or do a bunch of these firsts that I had in life.
25:43In two years, I've had several unpredictable calls.
25:46One of the probably most memorable was at the Whiskey Roads bar, so my first assumption
25:52is somebody's going to be slumped at the wheel, you know, in their parking lot when
25:57they just left the bar there.
25:58So as we're driving over, we got an update, and it sounds pretty serious.
26:05911, what is the location of your emergency?
26:08In front of the Whiskey Roads, I have a lady.
26:12It looks like she hit her head and passed out.
26:15She's not responding to any of my calls.
26:24Ma'am, are you okay?
26:26We have an ambulance on the way.
26:27They're right around the corner.
26:28Ma'am.
26:30She's my friend.
26:31We drove here together, and she took a few shots by these guys, and I guess she's, like,
26:36wasted.
26:37I don't know what's going on with her, but I'm worried about her.
26:41Do you remember walking out here at all?
26:43A little bit.
26:44What do you remember, like, like?
26:46I remember us being used to a country vibe.
26:51Can you let that just...
26:53I'm literally okay.
26:54Okay, baby.
26:55Just want to make sure you're okay.
26:56We don't want you to fall.
26:56That's all.
26:57Yes.
26:59100%.
27:00So, we're like, cool.
27:02If she's good, then, you know, we can kind of stand by and just make sure that she gets
27:06in her Uber or gets her ride safely, whatever it may be.
27:10We watch them walk through the parking lot and just trying to kind of keep an eye on them
27:12because they had already fallen once.
27:15Both her and her friend get in the car, and then we see the car turn on, and we watch
27:21them
27:21put it in the drive and start driving away.
27:24Turn the car off.
27:26It's off.
27:27I'm not in touch.
27:28Okay.
27:28Go ahead and step out.
27:29We're going to verify it.
27:35Come on over back here.
27:37Why the f*** are you arresting her?
27:39Why the f*** are you arresting her?
27:42Why are you arresting her?
27:44What the f*** are you doing?
27:46All right.
27:47So, you're going to take nine heel-to-toe steps.
27:49You're going to turn, and you're going to take nine heel-to-toe steps back.
27:51Okay?
27:53One, two, three, four.
27:58Five.
27:59She could walk on that s***, right?
28:02Just like I'm doing.
28:05Go ahead.
28:07Yeah, I need a little sister.
28:12Four, five, six.
28:16You're making me very anxious.
28:19I've just never done this before.
28:21She's okay.
28:23We're figuring that out.
28:24Hold up, kids.
28:24We're okay.
28:26I'm sorry.
28:28One thousand and one.
28:29One thousand and two.
28:30We literally went two feet.
28:33It doesn't matter.
28:34It's stupid.
28:35Alcohol.
28:38That f*** has been out here since that f***.
28:41Like, it's fine.
28:42So?
28:42So, why are y'all regulating it?
28:46Regulating driving in front of me.
28:48That's good.
28:49Okay, okay.
28:50All right.
28:50So, this one, you're just going to blow into it like you're blowing up a balloon, okay?
28:54Can I just Uber home at this point?
28:56No.
28:57So, we're past that point.
28:58We gave you that option.
28:59No, you guys didn't give me that option.
29:00And then you drove your car down.
29:01I'll Uber home, please.
29:03We're past that point.
29:03Do you want to do this or no?
29:05No.
29:05Okay.
29:07All right.
29:08So, I'm going to put your hands behind your back.
29:09Wait.
29:10You're going to be placed under the S-D-U-I.
29:16With the FSTs, obviously, it's showing us that you're impaired at home.
29:21Okay.
29:21I think that she's affecting my resolve.
29:28I don't give a f***.
29:30It's f***.
29:30I don't mean nothing.
29:32Don't mean nothing to me.
29:34Do you think I'll be let go before 9 a.m. tomorrow?
29:37You're going to be let go in like an hour and a half.
29:40I have work in the morning.
29:41We're not taking anything to jail.
29:48If they would have just gotten their Uber or, you know, had a friend pick them up or anything
29:51right then and there, it would have been a 10, 15-minute call.
29:55I was pretty shocked.
29:59When I became a cop and started seeing DUIs 24-7, doesn't matter the time of day.
30:05The reason I like doing them is definitely feels like you're preventing something worse
30:09from happening.
30:10It saves lives.
30:21We're in monsoon season.
30:24I don't mind the rain.
30:25I'm definitely used to it.
30:26Back when I was living in England, it was like, oh my God, it's raining again.
30:30But now it's like, oh, it's not 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
30:38It will just chuck it down in big, fat, heavy raindrops.
30:44It can either be you're in the middle of a microburst and 10 minutes later it's sunny
30:49again or you'll slap bag in the middle of a monsoon.
30:52It's going to be a couple hours until you're good.
31:03I don't think it's going to be a couple hours.
31:09You don't know.
31:10or...
31:10con la lluvia un muchacho del moto se
31:13cayó y la moto está...
31:15el muchacho está como cortado.
31:19Está...
31:19No podemos...
31:47So a call's just come in basically saying that a motorcycle's spun out on the road,
31:51and it's super close to us.
31:55Swerved off to the side of the road, possibly pinned under the motorcycle.
32:0020 degrees into 52 inches.
32:09How's it going, guys?
32:11So, what was going on?
32:14I thought it stopped time.
32:16Back tires gave out.
32:23I'll just get you something right now.
32:29And then just hold that.
32:30Sure.
32:31It's a pretty f***ing job, but it'll cover it for right now.
32:34How fast do you think you were going?
32:36No, I'm not going to get you into trouble.
32:37It's just a genuine question.
32:40Um, 45.
32:4245.
32:46Got a helmet on?
32:48What else did you have on?
32:51Nothing else.
32:57Sometimes when it's raining, people not knowing how to slow down a little bit.
33:00So when he's slamming the brakes, he's spun out into the roadway,
33:03and so he's got some pretty decent road rash, which does look like it stings.
33:09Could have been a lot worse.
33:11If other cars were around him, they could have run him over.
33:13He's definitely lucky to be up, talking, coherent, moving around.
33:20And you definitely see people not being used to driving in the weather,
33:24especially because when it's peak summer and the roads are nice and dry,
33:28you can make those sharp turns.
33:29You can brake really quickly.
33:32And we're in the midst of monsoon season,
33:34people not used to driving in this weather.
33:50Summer vacation's winding down, but the crime doesn't really stop.
33:54It just finds a new way to continue.
33:58Traffic stop is definitely like a jack-in-the-box.
34:00You never know what you're going to get.
34:01Most of the time, you're hoping it's going to be peaceful,
34:04and you can just have a conversation, potentially educate someone.
34:07Other times, people are going to bail out and chase them on foot.
34:11But this guy, right now, they're not failing to maintain their lane,
34:15but they're kind of swerving within their lane.
34:18I'm going to keep following them.
34:19Maybe they were distracted on their phone.
34:24And that license plate is destroyed.
34:26All right, that's more than enough.
34:28682 traffic.
34:35Car's coming to a slow stop.
34:38Hey there, I'm definitely going to call the Pima County Sheriff Department.
34:41The reason I'm pulling over is because you're kind of driving all over the road.
34:44Why are you driving that way?
34:49The time and the music.
34:51All right.
34:52Well, your car smells a lot like weed, man.
34:53When's the last time you smoked anything?
34:57This morning.
34:59Are you sure?
35:01All right, man.
35:02Let me go over and get your license registration and prove insurance.
35:07What's up with the blunt right there, man?
35:09That's tobacco.
35:11That's tobacco?
35:12That looks like a rolled-up blunt, bro.
35:14Do me a favor.
35:15I just need you to step out real quick.
35:18We're going to do a little DUI investigation, okay?
35:23I am going to tell you, though, I am a little tired.
35:25I do work.
35:26Okay, that's fine.
35:29All right, I'm going to ask you to complete some tests.
35:31Is there any reason you would not be able to complete these tests?
35:34Tired, dude.
35:35You're tired?
35:36Okay.
35:37But are you so tired you can't walk in a straight line or stand on one leg?
35:42Yeah.
35:43You're that tired?
35:44Yeah.
35:44If you're that tired, do you think you should be driving?
35:47Well, I just had to get a step to go to work in the morning.
35:50Stand with both your feet together.
35:51Raise either leg approximately six inches off the ground.
35:5511,000.
35:5611,000.
35:5811,000.
36:0011,000.
36:01Okay, so you can go ahead and put your leg down.
36:05Go ahead and put your hands behind your back.
36:07You are under arrest for DUI at this time.
36:11I'm not intoxicated.
36:12That's going to be up to a judge.
36:15682.
36:16We'll start a call number, 1055.
36:18Okay.
36:20Well, here, we'll pull up your pants for you, man.
36:22You need a belt.
36:23You need to buy a belt, buddy.
36:26As soon as I got up to the window, I could see his eyes.
36:28They were red, watery bloodshot.
36:31They were glazed over, you know, classic weed smoking symptoms.
36:35He was staggering when he walked.
36:37He was swaying.
36:38There's no way in hell he should have been driving.
36:42You know, he's a pretty young kid.
36:44Hopefully, this will be the one and only wake-up call he needs.
37:02There's somebody in our house.
37:04They're trying to open our doors.
37:05Is there somebody trying to break into your home?
37:07Yes, yes.
37:08He followed my mom home.
37:09It's just me, my sister, my mom.
37:12He's in our backyard.
37:13Yeah, he's in our backyard.
37:15Oh, my God.
37:18Please hurry.
37:18Please hurry.
37:19Please hurry.
37:20Please, please, please.
37:27There's somebody in our house.
37:29They're trying to open our doors.
37:30Is there somebody trying to break into your home?
37:32Yes, yes.
37:33I'm sorry.
37:34I'm scared.
37:35It's okay.
37:35I have deputies that are almost there.
37:40So, right now, we're en route to assist patrol.
37:44It sounds like somebody followed this female home.
37:55I'm hearing stimulus from the back.
37:57Sounds like the dog's getting them.
37:59What?
38:00Show me your hands!
38:12Hey, what happened?
38:14What is wrong with your face?
38:15Who would attack you?
38:16Oh, God!
38:18All right.
38:19All right.
38:19All right.
38:20All right.
38:21All right.
38:21We're going to get you to an ambulance, but you've got to work with us, okay?
38:29They have somebody detained, and they were asking for an ambulance because the person they
38:35have detained is all bloody in the face.
38:49I've got medical professionals here.
38:51They're going to check you out and make sure you get stitched up, all right?
38:56He's going to the hospital right now.
38:57He's not talking.
39:04Let's see what they got.
39:09So, we arrived.
39:11The information that we got was a man's following a woman home.
39:14We surround the property.
39:15We hear screaming in the back.
39:17And now see this guy, and there's a vicious dog in the backyard with him.
39:23The first officer goes inside, and there's blood all over the place.
39:27He's literally on the ground screaming, saying, don't touch me.
39:29Get away.
39:30And then we're able to get him in the cuffs and get the ambulance started.
39:35Does he seem tweaked out?
39:37Oh, yeah.
39:40I'm sorry.
39:40I'm sorry, ma'am.
39:41Go ahead.
39:41Come on.
39:41Come on out.
39:43I'm a detective with a night detective unit.
39:45I just got a couple follow-up questions.
39:48This dude, what was he doing?
39:51Well, when I first came in, when I first got here, because he was right behind me.
39:55And I heard he got in the door, and I locked it.
39:57And he came up, and then he sat right here.
39:59And then I ran in, but I told my girls.
40:01We got into the room.
40:02I called him, and then we told you guys.
40:04But he was sitting here for, like, maybe four minutes.
40:07And then he got up, and then that's when we started hearing him.
40:10He's banging hard on the door.
40:13So, we could hear him from our door being shut in there, being back in our room.
40:18He was banging on it.
40:19Okay.
40:20So, how did this all make you feel?
40:22Terrific.
40:23Yeah, okay.
40:25All right.
40:27She has no idea who this person is.
40:30Followed her all the way to the house, up until the point she got inside.
40:35And the children actually saw the suspect on the roof through the skylight.
40:41Scared him to death.
40:43The female's calling her husband frantically to get over there.
40:46And ultimately, somehow, the family dog ended up biting the suspect.
40:57I'm glad that we got there when we did.
41:00And we've got the bad guy in custody.
41:03He followed this woman home, trying to get inside the residence.
41:08If I were that husband getting the frantic phone call from my wife and my kids, I don't know what
41:15I would do.
41:30This is definitely one of those cases where I find peace knowing that we did our job.
41:35To put them behind bars.
41:39When I retire, I'll have these moments in my job that will become precious memories to me.
41:47Truly feel in my gut that we really made a difference.
41:53That day will come where I have to hang up my hat and let the new generation take over.
42:01You really couldn't ask for a better team of deputies.
42:04It's a very special bond that you have.
42:06This department, there's nothing quite like it in the entire world.
42:14This department, there's nothing quite like it in the entire world.
