Organizers of the World Coffee Championships say changing Taiwan’s designation on their website to “Chinese Taipei” was an administrative decision aligned with international sporting conventions. The issue emerged after Taiwanese barista Bala won the World Latte Art Championship in San Diego, California. The competition website originally listed him as being from Taiwan, but was later updated to say he represented the “competition body of Chinese Taipei.”
