02:15lying right there we have the guy identified the victim 29 year old Andre
02:26Jones worked as a logistics specialist for a freight company he had been
02:31staying at the hotel where he was killed but was in the process of moving out to
02:35live with his mother Andre had eight siblings it was the proud father of three
02:41young boys
02:46through and through Andre was shot twice in the chest there's a couple of cell
02:53casings right here the casings are both nine millimeter
03:01cameras filming down this way we can upload the video yeah I got a good
03:08witness to talk to as far as the other witnesses good luck yeah because there's
03:12about 30 of them out here yeah and nobody saw anything so I think he's the most
03:17important one right now I'll go do that now
03:23what's up I'm detective early can we go talk over there I just want to hear what
03:27happened from your standpoint he knows the victim Andre as Tess so I came down he
03:43wanted me to go to the store for actually I've been in store for when he started
03:48walking towards this direction I was walking I looked up I see two guys with a hidden gun
03:55and they jumped off from the car right now when I had a forest in the car right now and
04:00I can't
04:01remember the other one was going off the car probably they had a mask they both had masks on
04:06that's right that's all he knew because when he seen them jump down he dashed towards me they
04:12basically just like did like this and walked past us was he mad at them or anything or did he

04:18say hey you know like he's like what's up you know so me and him walking behind them take something
04:24went that way and by the time we got returned they come back so when they passed us I took
04:32on one
04:33because I don't think the kid behind me yeah so then I took around he's going back this way
04:37and again so I said hey Tate what's up he's like he's talking around kind of speedy up towards me
04:44gave me y'all say just go to the office and give me a soda I said I got you

04:49you see me now turn around ah ah shot I didn't see this baby took off and anything the second

05:08there yeah did he call them by any kind of nickname or anything all right man appreciate you hanging
05:28around hey hey lead detective Julie Price arrives on scene someone came up to York about somebody to
05:36look into I was like would you at least talk to one of my people now and she's like no
05:42I don't want
05:43to name him wrong while sergeant Dallas York was canvassing the hotel a guest said the man staying
05:49in room 243 may be involved but according to the manager the man in that room checked out this
05:58morning but I think we're going to have to regroup and put all the video and everything together yeah
06:05the manager gave York the names of all the hotel guests for that day thank you
06:17this hotel shares their cameras with Gwinnett police department so I go back to headquarters and just
06:24review a bunch of video yeah so the car comes and stops on 85 so here's the hotel stops right

06:49the team pulls up the security video from around the time of the murder they get off the exit ramp
06:55on 85
06:56right there behind horizon it sits up here with its hazard lights on six minutes before the shooting
07:03the suspects car stops on the side of the highway they both come down the embankment
07:15there's no cameras back there the one on the back side down so they're in the back
07:26orange hoodie and then the dark hoodie with bandana print sleeves that's a victim in the white hoodie
07:57the guy in the bandana print hoodie pulls his gun fires two shots
08:03they take off it looks like he was targeted
08:11they come running back up
08:15you see him go back across the back of the car with his orange hoodie
08:21so we got some good clothing to look for if we can figure out where to go
08:25yeah so they have a camera that points basically at the roadway
08:32and that's him pulling through
08:35so that's the car right there that's the car
08:38it's gonna be a dark car definitely dark it's definitely a sedan
08:45and there's nothing there's no cameras up there that we can see which way that car goes
08:50that's right now
08:54some girl gave a room number and said you need to look at this guy
08:58johari johari the man in room 243 whom the tipster said may be involved
09:04is 28 year old johari foster
09:08there's no vehicles that look good that are associated
09:12and he also just checked out that morning
09:14but johari doesn't drive a dark colored sedan
09:17and he checked out of the hotel 12 hours before the shooting

09:25right now i don't have any suspects
09:29i'm hoping that somebody will call and just give me some little kind of detail
09:34in order for me to run with to figure out who these guys are

09:51a guest from the hotel comes forward with information about andre's murder
09:56lieutenant just told me that you have some information
09:59they killed my friend last night

10:29she says andre came into possession of a stolen gun
10:32and was planning to return it to the owner
10:34but you know he stole that gun while tess was leaving
10:40and he sold it before tess was leaving back to do
10:44that's why the shooting happened
11:04okay so he had the gun initially is what he told you
11:07he got it however tess that i fell asleep and he stole it and now i gotta steal it back
11:33she says the owner of the gun

11:48she doesn't know the gun owner's name but gives the room number that was registered

12:10so the rumor mill is that all of this is over a stolen gun
12:15she said that andre wasn't the one that stole it but somehow the gun owner believed that andre was the
12:19one that stole it
12:21she also provided the same room number as the other tipster that jihari foster was staying in
12:27later that afternoon

12:41so yesterday when we came in uh we started looking back through some of the video from the other camera

12:48after combing through more of the hotel's surveillance video the crime prevention unit has a lead
12:55ricketts pulled footage from earlier in the day and actually located the guy in the orange hoodie
13:00so once we found him we explored a lot more of the video and we actually identified them parking at
13:08the rooms to go
13:08walking over to the horizon earlier in the day kind of scoping things out
13:14five hours before the homicide three men appear to be casing the hotel
13:20the subject with the orange hoodie actually obtains it from a female
13:23um on the second floor as he's walking in
13:26you see the female with the orange hoodie just walking down the hall
13:30he literally just walks up the stairs she's already walking down the hallway with it
13:34it's just a pass off and she walks one direction he walks the other
13:45do y'all recognize that female at all no i was trying to get a better picture of her face
13:54when this one earlier we actually get a decent shot of his face
13:59he walks this way
14:02and then they kind of stopped and they were talking to each other
14:06it looks like jahari
14:07price believes the suspect with the orange hoodie is the man who rented room 243

14:15the two other subjects that he was with um come around the back side of the building
14:20they've already got their hoodies up
14:23the second guy actually like pulls his drawstring tight to conceal his face
14:34they go up they're up there a very short time they kind of walk around and then they come back
14:39down
14:42so this is the subject in the gray hoodie
14:45he's gonna be the actual shooter
14:47because he's wearing the same handkerchief looking hoodie during the homicide
14:57he meets up with the other two
15:01once they are leaving
15:05they walk right back to the car that they came from
15:09and then a few seconds later
15:11you'll see the black passenger car
15:13and the rooms to go parking lot come around the left side of the building
15:19we ended up identifying the vehicle as a ford 500 passenger car
15:27this is the ford 500 leaving rooms to go
15:34once we had this video we pulled the flock kits and um moon was able to identify the tag
15:40the car is registered to 35 year old tyrus lane from dekapp county
15:46he's got a very long and interesting room
15:50tyrus has several prior convictions including armed robbery and aggravated assault
15:56the way it looks in one of the views from the night of the inside
16:00it almost looks like there's brake lights on before they get up to the car
16:03it almost looks like there was somebody still in the car
16:07officers believe tyrus could be the getaway driver
16:12the car seems like it doesn't come up here very often
16:15it seems like it tends to stay down
16:16it's not like dunwoody and uh doraville area

16:23right there at the motel 6

16:29after the homicide
16:30the suspect vehicle was captured by traffic cameras
16:33at a motel in chambley
16:34about 20 miles west of gwinnett

16:55the team takes a closer look at the hotel surveillance video
16:58from around the time of the murder
17:01she's wearing the same
17:03that's the same it's the same female

17:06when they first come
17:07she hands the suspect which looks like jahari

17:16and then during the homicide
17:19she's standing there on her phone
17:23it's like she's looking and waiting

17:37i don't see how she's not a participant
17:40if she wasn't a part of it

18:06she's been here they said for like the last three or four days

18:17so at this point i believe that the person in the orange hoodie is jahari foster
18:22however i need somebody to id him and tell us who the other two suspects are

18:30that's just not gonna hold up that far in court

18:49for video footage
18:50see if we get a clearer picture of their faces
18:53the team heads to the motel
18:55where the suspect vehicle was captured on traffic cameras after the homicide
19:07they asked the motel manager to pull up video from that night
19:15we got them

19:21look at them showing up immediately after the homicide

19:41there's three of them
19:43two of them come out
19:49my man still has the orange hoodie
19:51fifteen minutes after the murder
19:53two of the three suspects are seen getting out of the suspect vehicle at the motel in chambly
19:59in the driver's seat
20:01that's probably more than likely the registered owner

20:09you see them hanging out in the corner
20:11and uh talking for a couple minutes smoking a cigarette
20:15but you don't see what room they go in
20:18the suspects disappear into one of two rooms off camera
20:22so this is the room roster for everyone who's rented the room here at the studio six
20:28on the night of the murder
20:30both rooms out of camera view were rented by women
20:33price can look at this

20:43according to swaza they go into room like 214 or 215
20:45both registered to females
20:47so i gotta see who they're connected with
20:50price researched the women in the two rooms
20:52but has been unable to find a link to the suspects
20:56i have to think that's jahari there
20:59the driver i think is going to be registered owner
21:02still trying to figure out who this guy is
21:04but those are the same exact shorts and same pumas as a shooter
21:09i think he's got the actual hoodie balled up in his arm right now
21:14so i've done two out of three
21:15but i still don't know who my shooter is

24:00he points to johari fosters photo and says him
24:04i got enough to pull warrens now
24:06he will be here wednesday 8 a.m
24:10johari's next scheduled shift is in two days
24:14i mean there's no reason not to hook him on wednesday

24:22the manager said he contacts johari through facebook
24:26so that was golden
24:28i just would like to have a name of the third guy

24:41early gets a lead on the third suspect
24:45so i just went to johari's facebook

24:49and just looked at the two people that liked it
24:51and one is this guy

24:58yeah he's got the long beard that the shooter had

25:53he has an active warrant for violating his probation

26:07where the suspects were dropped off after the murder

26:42our gang unit was able to go out to the
26:44studio six motel in chambley
26:48looking for one of our suspects
26:51they were able to lay eyes on him
26:53and watched him go back into room 214
26:56they came back out a short while later
26:58and they were able to jump out and grab him
27:00and place him under arrest for a probation violation warrant that he has
27:04the suspected shooter

27:07is on his way to headquarters for questioning

29:36looking for in casey caesar shows dad and was like hey i know pretty much everybody here and everybody
29:42around but i don't know who this is maybe this is her and he goes yeah that's my daughter the

29:48scene handing johari foster the orange hoodie in the surveillance video has been identified as a
29:53teenage runaway but her location is unknown so now we have vice unit special victims unit narcotics
30:02they're all looking for her and i do have active warrants out on johari foster we were told that johari
30:11works tomorrow at 8 a.m hopefully we'll get him tomorrow morning
30:21the next morning fugitives just texted me saying uh that johari is 10 90 uh he's arrested
30:29the plan is for them to bring him up here so we can attempt to interview him
30:34if anybody's gonna talk it's i think it's gonna be johari
30:52on his way into homicide johari foster asked for a lawyer
30:58he's like where are even my charges i told him malice murder felony murder and he's like what
31:04and i was like listen i want to talk to you about him but you already want a lawyer and

32:2311 days later so the female miner that we were looking for got picked up the teenage runaway seen
32:32on video handing jahari the orange hoodie was tracked down and interviewed by the special victims unit
32:38they did a forensic interview with her she ends up talking about the shooting in detail
32:44at first she says that um jahari believed that it was his ex-girlfriend that stole his gun
32:51he heard later then that it was a male and then she was supposed to run around and try to
32:57figure out
32:58who the male was but he he supposedly figured it out first she knew jahari was looking to fight
33:03um but after the shooting she then realized it wasn't to fight it was to actually shoot him
33:09um because she she flat out asks said what's his plan and he eventually confesses that it was planned
33:16and then she talks about how afterwards at the hotel she's with jahari and bush and um bush starts
33:24talking about his body count and how he just killed somebody but the miner couldn't call police at all
33:31about anything because she was on the run herself being a runaway the young female will not be charged
33:38and has been released unfortunately she didn't mention anything about a driver in her interview
33:45so at this point we're still trying to figure out how to tie tyrus to the murder and we're still
33:51trying
33:51to locate his car a month later so we're headed down to clayton county tyrus has a meeting right now
34:09with his probation officer so we're headed down there to hopefully intercept him the team plans to confront
34:16tyrus after he meets with his probation officer i have plenty to take his car i just can't say that
34:23he's the one that was driving it but if we go down here and he says i'm the only person
34:28to ever drive my
34:28car nobody drives my car that kind of stuff that would be golden i would be comfortable pulling warrants

39:09while his car was parked in the exit ramp near the crime scene

39:17then just like an hour or so after the homicide he's searching google help to delete his browser

39:37price will wait for the district attorney to decide if there's enough evidence to charge

41:47vengeance I'm trying but I can't believe someone stole his life like that there are days when I
41:53just can't breathe and I literally break down someone told me that our children are not ours God gave
42:01them to us forever long and he's called him back home so if I look at it like that then

42:15wanted me to do pick up
42:16that mantle and make change help with reform so maybe that's my purpose now and he gave it to me
