00:10Summers are brutal with the heat.
00:12It'll melt your shoes, your skin, it'll tear you up for sure.
00:18If it's too hot outside, the bad guys don't want to go out and commit crimes.
00:22When the nighttime comes, the freaks come out.
00:26Put your pants off!
00:28When that's undone, people think they can hide the bad stuff in the dark.
00:31This is the I don't believe face.
00:34One team, one family.
00:36We always pull together.
00:39Get a bunch of bats!
00:41What the f*** am I in handcuffs for?
00:44It's very dangerous.
00:46Backup isn't always closed.
00:509-1-1 emergency.
00:52You're gonna kill me.
00:54Assaults, robberies, shootings.
00:57It's lawless out here.
00:58It's gonna get hot tonight.
00:59A little bit of spice is always good.
01:01Stop having sex.
01:02Put your jeans on.
01:04See you in the wild, wild west, Tucson.
01:07It's the witching hour.
01:08Don't tap out on us yet, okay?
01:21When we hit the triple digits,
01:26we know it's gonna be consistent heat
01:28until God blesses us with the monsoons.
01:33The mirages you see,
01:35the heat waves coming up from the asphalt.
01:37My daughter calls them heat snakes.
01:42Typically in your daytime shift,
01:44you're handling a lot of car accidents.
01:47And then dusk settles,
01:49and out of nowhere,
01:51it just pops off.
01:539-1-1, where's your emergency?
01:56I'd like to report an accident.
01:57I just saw in West Valencia.
01:59It looked like one rammed the other in the back.
02:039-1-1, where's the emergency?
02:05Black car got away,
02:06but these other two cars hit each other,
02:09going eastbound,
02:10and I don't know that there's anybody hurt.
02:146-5-2-10-5-2.
02:15We have a crash appeared in Valencia and Cardinal.
02:20Trying to clarify how many vehicles are involved.
02:23We're pulling up right now,
02:24and it looks like two vehicles at least.
02:30She's saying somebody just hit her, right?
02:31She doesn't have front-end damage?
02:33No.
02:33Oh, God.
02:34She's got the rear-end damage.
02:35She was just traveling,
02:36and she said she was just suddenly hit from behind.
02:39He was saying that she suddenly stopped.
02:42What's going on, sir?
02:43This is you.
02:44Yes, sir.
02:45Can you walk me through this?
02:47They were racing kind of with me and stuff,
02:50and they jumped in front of me.
02:52Who's they?
02:52Did you know them?
02:54Back hard.
02:55There.
02:55No, I don't know them.
02:57And then they just kind of
02:59threw their brakes on in front of me.
03:02You know how fast you guys are going?
03:05I really don't.
03:06All right.
03:07All right.
03:07Okay.
03:08I know one thing, though.
03:09They were being very aggressive.
03:13Were you guys both in this car?
03:14No.
03:15The lady's in there.
03:16Okay.
03:17All right, ma'am.
03:18Do you know what happened?
03:20Call ended.
03:219-1-1-6-5.
03:23I actually went against the windshield.
03:27After I got hit, and I kind of came to,
03:30I saw a black corridor just running past me in this lane.
03:41We've watched it happen.
03:42Okay.
03:43Yeah, what?
03:43Yeah.
03:44I mean, he was totally speeding.
03:45Probably 70 miles an hour.
03:47He was tailing a black car, like, you know,
03:49right behind his bumper, and then the black car
03:51moved out of the lane.
03:51And it was a black car, huh?
03:52Straight into this.
03:56While you're doing statements,
03:57is there anything I can do?
03:59I got stuff for a crash report,
04:00and we're her towed out of here.
04:04Did you say you have a tow truck coming?
04:05I honestly have no idea.
04:07You want me to call who we use?
04:09Yeah.
04:09We'll give him a call.
04:10He started 926 for the Ford four-door.
04:22Oh.
04:25Shooter right there.
04:29Anything to drink today?
04:31Earlier in the day, I did.
04:32Earlier as in?
04:34Like, 1 o'clock.
04:36That's right.
04:37Okay.
04:38All right, man.
04:39But I was at my house when I did that.
04:41Yeah.
04:43Gotcha.
04:43And I didn't drive for hours after that, so.
04:47Okay.
04:49Gotcha.
04:51We're going to be checking on this driver's ability
04:53to even be on the roadway.
04:55There's signs of intoxication.
04:57It's a pretty bad accident.
05:00Deputy Carter's out here by himself.
05:03Came out here to help him as best I can.
05:05And where's the shooter that was on the floorboard?
05:07Where'd it go?
05:09I have no idea.
05:10You didn't grab it out of your car right now?
05:12No, I didn't.
05:13Okay.
05:15Oh, there it is.
05:18You just dropped it out here, man.
05:19You can't be littering like that, dude.
05:24Okay, well, it was sitting in your driver's seat before.
05:30I just don't throw that out there.
05:32Got you.
05:33Okay.
05:34Well, I have a body cam.
05:35It's going to show me looking at it sitting on your floorboard.
05:37Get that out there.
05:38Okay.
05:39I'm going to have you walk up to my vehicle, okay?
05:42Well, I'm going to run you through some filter priority tests.
05:44Is there any reason you wouldn't be able to complete these tests?
05:47No?
05:47All right.
05:49Hands down at your side, okay?
05:50Go ahead and begin the test.
05:58Okay, I'm guessing.
06:00Impairment.
06:01All right.
06:02This second test is going to be a one-leg stand test, okay?
06:05Go ahead and begin the test.
06:11All right.
06:12Just put both your hands behind your back.
06:13Just like that.
06:13I appreciate you.
06:14So right now, you are under arrest.
06:15They're driving under the infant.
06:18He gives us a plethora of cues, a real staggered step, odor of alcohol in his breath.
06:23I add all of that in with he had a shooter right there in plain view on his floorboard.
06:32Most of the drunks are out at night, and here we are.
06:36It's the middle of the daytime.
06:37We have somebody incredibly intoxicated.
06:47We're just lucky he didn't kill anybody.
06:50A lot of people think, oh, I can drive.
06:52I'll never know.
06:53Nope.
06:54Of course, alcohol is a big challenge for law enforcement, but there's a drug epidemic happening
07:00here, and it's spiraling out of control.
07:03We're a border town here in Tucson, and we're also along some of the biggest drug trafficking
07:09corridors in the country.
07:12Tucson's a big hot spot.
07:14You've got to think of Tucson as where our drug epidemic is stemming from.
07:18A lot of people go down the wrong path in life because they get on something like meth or
07:23fentanyl.
07:26It's a constant game of cat and mouse.
07:29You arrest one drug dealer, two more pop up.
07:32I have kind of like a zero tolerance.
07:34If you have a small amount or if you have 40 grams, like, I'm still going to treat you
07:40the same.
07:51Yeah, so we'll drive down and head down to our usual spots, so we'll see if we see anybody
07:57rolling about or any traffic.
08:05How are you doing, sir?
08:12How are you, officer?
08:13I'm pretty good, mate.
08:14You know why I pulled you over?
08:15I'm just going to fall in it.
08:16Oh, it's because you just blatantly ran a red light.
08:19You're looking for 10-7-8, sir, okay?
08:23You guys have pulled the car over.
08:26I need help.
08:28It's 7-4 out there.
08:33What's your pulling for?
08:34You just ran a red.
08:36Hey, man, do me a favor.
08:37Step out of the car, okay?
08:40You want to fix that way for me?
08:42You're going to put your hand-cars right now, right?
08:44What?
08:44You got a meth pipe in your car.
08:47You have anything about that?
08:48Yeah.
08:49Hmm?
08:50Where is it?
08:51Yeah, it's in the door.
08:53What's that about?
08:56I have some girl in my car.
08:58Some girl in your car?
08:59That smokes meth?
09:01It's not good company, brother.
09:05Deputy guards have pulled this car over inside of the door.
09:08It was a glass meth pipe.
09:13Bing bong!
09:14That'll do it.
09:16What, you got needles in it?
09:21You've got G right here.
09:24It's not a lot, but it's G.
09:27Huh?
09:28It's G.
09:28Yeah.
09:29Oh, that's loaded.
09:31There you go.
09:32How many of these are loaded?
09:33That's H.
09:33Those are loaded.
09:37You can see a bunch of syringes with what looks like possibly heroin, which we call H, and then
09:44a small baggie with a crystal-like substance, which is likely going to be methamphetamine.
09:50I got arrested two years ago for the same s**t.
09:53I was trying to get clean after that, but I haven't been able to sleep on it.
09:57I had some job interviews and wind up, and I thought I was heading in the right direction,
10:01but I can't stop using it.
10:05Like you said, you've already been down this once already, and you are again doing this
10:10s**t.
10:10I don't want to be a felony.
10:14Stop doing felony s**t.
10:16I know, but...
10:17I mean, easier said than done, but come on, man.
10:19I'm like, how many changes?
10:21All right.
10:42Balenciano-Galas Highway.
10:43I have a SUV westbound 142.
10:53A plane survey came up over the radio and said that they got some dude doing about 120
10:57westbound on Valencia.
11:03Let's see if maybe we can intercept this dude.
11:09There's a lot to go wrong here, trying to position yourself.
11:12Well, right now, I'm thinking this is my prime position, considering its last known direction
11:16on Valencia.
11:18We're going to get into some kind of pursuit here.
11:20I'm set up at West Dover in Valencia.
11:24Still headed our way, so we're going to sit here and try to intercept him.
11:31Gotcha.
11:42734, I believe I'm behind the beam.
11:45Most reassent, Cardinal Sapa.
12:02Hey, how's it going, sir?
12:03Where are you coming from tonight, dude?
12:05Uh, I was in my girlfriend's house.
12:08Your girlfriend's house?
12:09I gotcha.
12:10Anything to drink or smoke tonight?
12:12No.
12:12Okay.
12:13Is there a reason why we were speeding down Valencia, dude?
12:15Uh, I had to take a s*** to be honest.
12:21You had to take a s***?
12:22Okay.
12:23Do you know how fast you were going?
12:25I'm not sure.
12:26Okay.
12:27Then we'll pull 26.
12:29Here, step out for me, man.
12:31Do me a favor.
12:32Turn around.
12:33Turn around.
12:33Play your hands behind your back.
12:34What?
12:35Play your hands behind your back.
12:36Don't tense up on me.
12:38Don't tense up, dude.
12:41All right, come back to my car with me, man.
12:48Anything on you, dude?
12:49Anything in your pocket?
12:50Okay.
12:51Go ahead and take a seat for me.
12:53He said like 120, right?
12:55Down Valencia?
12:57Nice.
12:58He was well over the speed limit.
13:00This isn't the first time I've heard this, but his excuse was that, uh, he needed to take a s***.
13:06Which I don't think is a very good excuse to drive 121 miles an hour past, like, four different gas
13:12stations to get home and s*** coming from girlfriend's house.
13:17Yeah, he will be going to jail tonight.
13:19And on top of that, we are going to tow his car.
13:23Hey, so we're going to switch you to this other car right now.
13:25I am going to let you know, while we're right here, though, you are going to be under arrest for
13:29criminal speeding, okay?
13:31Can I make a call?
13:34Not right now.
13:35Eventually, you'll be able to, but that's not a priority right now, okay?
13:38This isn't like the movies.
13:40With how reckless he was driving and how fast he was going, he might end up getting into a collision
13:45to kill someone, a fatal accident.
13:49So, uh, definitely not getting let off with any kind of warning or anything like that tonight.
13:58Apparently s*** was about to happen, and we've prevented that, so hopefully we can get him through this so he
14:05can do his business here in a little bit.
14:09What's up?
14:10Nicely done.
14:29So we're going to go to a suspicious vehicle.
14:32There's several vehicles parked in front of the reporter's address, including a travel trailer.
14:40How's it going?
14:41They have parked cars parked all along here.
14:43It changes.
14:44They have people coming in and out.
14:46It becomes crazier and crazier and crazier here.
14:49This is my tenant, by the way, is not very happy.
14:51Okay.
14:52There's been about a thousand people.
14:54They park all the way up here and all the way around here, and they're out here digging out here
15:01and everything else.
15:02Okay.
15:03Now, this has got to stop.
15:04This has really got to stop.
15:06I've been watching for two years.
15:07They're out here with flashlights.
15:09You guys can't just keep coming out here, standing around, pretending like you're going to do something about it.
15:13Someone needs to do something about it.
15:14Okay.
15:14Well, I'm trying to figure out what's going on.
15:16I'm working with you, but...
15:17Well, then you need to do something about it.
15:17Okay.
15:18Well, I can't when you're yelling at me, so let me figure out what's going on.
15:21You can tell me what's going on.
15:22This is my first time coming out, man.
15:24Oh, what are we going to do?
15:26Oh, what do we do?
15:28What do we do?
15:29We're helpless.
15:30No, that needs to stop.
15:31Okay.
15:32You're not the victim.
15:32I'll have your information, and then I'm going to go try and talk with him like we talked about, though.
15:36This is ridiculous.
15:39Hey, Sheriff Armand.
15:41Hi.
15:41Hey, how's it going?
15:42Good.
15:43How would you end up here?
15:45Like, are you living here?
15:47What's your situation?
15:48No, I'm not living here.
15:49I'm just staying here until I get to the first of the month.
15:52Have you talked with anyone about parking here?
15:54Because you're on the road.
15:57Not exactly.
15:59Okay.
15:59So what's...
16:00So you're just parked here?
16:03All right.
16:04And the first of the month.
16:05So you know tomorrow is the first of the month, right?
16:07Right, right.
16:08So you have someone coming to move this trailer?
16:10No, I have somebody to move it, yes.
16:12But if we come back tomorrow afternoon and it's still here, okay, we're going to have this together.
16:17Obviously, the neighbors around here don't want you here, so they're going to keep calling
16:19us, and you're not supposed to be here on the side of the road, okay?
16:23Sounds good.
16:24Well, I'll get out of here, okay?
16:25All right, thank you.
16:27We're going to give him the benefit of the doubt, let him stay here for the night.
16:30You know, he's probably hard on life.
16:31He's doing the best he can.
16:33It's going on 10 o'clock.
16:34He's not going to have anywhere to go.
16:35We'll leave it at that.
16:36If he doesn't move it, then we'll come back here and tow it.
16:40Hello?
16:41Hey, so I spoke with the guy.
16:43He's leaving in the morning.
16:44Okay, I appreciate you coming out.
16:46I'm sorry my tenant got upset with you.
16:48It's all right.
16:48It happened.
16:49Thank you very much.
16:50No problem.
16:50You have a good one.
17:06Make sure my red dot's working.
17:129-1-1, what is the emergency?
17:14There's a car parked in front of me watching my house.
17:17And how long has he been there?
17:18For two hours.
17:19Sheriff's department, how can I help you?
17:21Hi, I've seen a police officer to kick on a guy that's parked on the sidewalk.
17:27It's a red Mustang.
17:31I'm going to go check out this suspicious vehicle.
17:34There's a red Mustang occupied by one male that's been there for a couple hours.
17:38So, see if this dude's okay.
17:41Could be sad, could be passed out, could be dead, could be anything.
17:44So, it's going to be a red Mustang.
18:01It's going to be a red Mustang.
18:06Hey, brother.
18:08Hey.
18:09You all right?
18:20Hey, my man.
18:21You all right?
18:21I'm right.
18:22What's going on, dude?
18:24Hi.
18:24Police.
18:24Police.
18:25Stop reaching.
18:25What's going on?
18:27I'm good.
18:28Okay.
18:28How are you?
18:29Good.
18:30What's going on?
18:32Okay.
18:33Why are we passed out in our car, dude?
18:36Hey, buddy.
18:38Hey, do you need an ambulance?
18:40No?
18:42Where are we coming from?
18:47Are you able to step out of the car, dude?
18:48Yeah.
18:49Okay.
18:49I'm going to have you step out, brother, okay?
18:51Just because I'm a little worried about you, all right?
18:53One of your shoes is on the outside of the car here, man.
18:55You want that?
18:57These are your glasses too, brother?
18:59I'm going to have you step out until we figure out what's going on.
19:02Hey, I'm going to have you face the car.
19:04I need you to put your hands behind your back.
19:05Right now, you're being detained.
19:09Have you had anything to drink tonight?
19:12A little bit.
19:12A little bit?
19:13Okay.
19:14Go ahead and hop in there for me.
19:16How much have you had to drink tonight?
19:18A little bit.
19:18A little bit?
19:19A little bit.
19:20Okay.
19:20How many drinks would you say?
19:22Four.
19:23Four?
19:24Four.
19:24Okay.
19:25I got you.
19:26Four.
19:26Were they like beers?
19:28Beers.
19:28Beers?
19:29Beers.
19:29All right.
19:30On a scale of one to ten, one being you're sober enough to go to church and ten being you're
19:35blitzed off your mind, where would you say you are?
19:37I'm going to church.
19:38You go to church?
19:39I'm going to church.
19:39You're a one?
19:40No.
19:41Clearly.
19:44According to him, he's sober enough to go to church, but I think he'd probably be bursting
19:48into flames if he went to church.
19:54He's got a big old ****.
19:59He's parked, like, in a random spot in a residential neighborhood.
20:02This dude's drunk as can be.
20:04I wasn't driving, man.
20:06I was parked.
20:06That doesn't matter, man.
20:08Your car was on.
20:08It was running.
20:09You had the ability to drive.
20:10It's called actual physical control.
20:12Um, so that constitutes a DUI.
20:15Oh, it's getting home already, bro.
20:17Okay.
20:17Well, you're not home, dude.
20:18You're parking on the sidewalk, brother.
20:20You didn't make it home.
20:21Home is not that far, bro.
20:23Okay.
20:23Well, it doesn't really matter.
20:24Even if you were home, it'd still be a DUI right now, okay?
20:29Typically, we'd run him through standardized field sobriety tests, like the walk and turn.
20:33I don't think he has a safety awareness for us to be able to do those, so we'll see if
20:36he's going to do a blood draw.
20:38Will you consent to a test of your blood, determining your alcohol concentration or drug content?
20:43Yes or no?
20:43I don't mind, bro.
20:45We're just finding a vein here on you, all right, brother?
20:48Any numbness, tingling, dizziness?
20:50Feeling okay?
20:51Dr. DeWars.
20:53Yeah, I know, right?
20:54You should come to me for your blood work, huh?
20:56Hey, man, how many tubes of toothpaste am I holding up?
20:59Two.
20:59That's not toothpaste.
21:01I mean...
21:02I'm just messing with you, brother.
21:04I'm just messing with you.
21:06It's going to be a side release, and we'll make sure he gets home.
21:08Man, this is your citation.
21:10Like I said, you're being arrested for DUI.
21:12I need you to sign right here.
21:13I was in DUI, bro.
21:15I was in DUI.
21:17Look, man, I've already explained it.
21:18Dude, if you want to go home, I need to get your signatures.
21:23I was literally parked.
21:25I was not driving.
21:26Like, driving while you're driving, that's a DUI, bro.
21:30I was literally parked.
21:31My car was turned off.
21:32Either way, my lights were on.
21:34Okay, so...
21:35It doesn't mean my car was turned off.
21:36So that's 100% wrong, and you can go read that statute right there, and it'll explain it, okay?
21:42You don't need to be driving to get a DUI.
21:43Now, let's step out and go make sure you get with your sister.
21:51What's your key?
21:52They're with the tow truck driver.
21:54They go with the car.
22:03Luckily, we were able to get that dude woken up, make sure he wasn't dead or dying.
22:08It's really mind-boggling how many people get plastered and then go booze cruising through Tucson.
22:22A lot of people don't consider drug DUI a bad or violent crime unless somebody gets hurt.
22:29You don't know if you are going to hurt or kill somebody when you make the poor decision to get
22:35behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs.
22:38There was this one call about a couple years ago.
22:43It was a Tahoe that was just swerving all over the road.
22:46When myself, another deputy, tried to do a traffic stop on the driver of that car, he ended up taking
22:52off from us.
22:54Usually, people that run from us have something that they want to hide.
22:57They could be under the influence.
22:58They could hide drugs.
22:59They could hide guns.
23:00This person may want to do me harm.
23:03It was a full-on pursuit.
23:06Running red lights, driver ends up bailing and lets the car run into a guardrail.
23:11I was able to jump out of the patrol car and try to catch him.
23:27Police, stop!
23:336-140, cross-back time.
23:39Get on the ground!
23:43Get on the ground!
23:45I'll just shoot you!
23:45Don't move!
23:47Oh, your stomach!
23:52Oh, my God.
23:55He tossed a bit over there!
23:57What did you toss?
23:58I saw you toss it.
24:02Stand up.
24:05What did you take today?
24:07I don't do drugs.
24:08Did you see us behind you?
24:09Why didn't you stop?
24:13I have a warrant for DUI.
24:14I didn't go to court.
24:16Okay, you're under arrest.
24:17For a lawful flight, and also you're under arrest for DUI.
24:20DUI for what?
24:21I think you're impaired.
24:22Dude, no.
24:23Why would I be impaired?
24:24In what, though?
24:25You tell me, man.
24:26I saw you toss something.
24:27We're going to find it.
24:28Find it.
24:28I'll find it.
24:29All right, I'll find it.
24:31Just drop me off at home.
24:33Not where we're going tonight, man.
24:35F***.
24:40Work with me, guys.
24:41What did you toss?
24:42And I want you to be honest with me.
24:44Toss nothing.
24:45I just don't want a kid to eat it, okay?
24:47What if that happens, man?
24:48You don't feel bad about that?
24:49F***.
24:50Yeah.
24:50What was it?
25:01Found it.
25:02Give me a little baggie of something.
25:03Oh, man.
25:07Okay.
25:09So just being transparent, we found it.
25:12Oh, what?
25:13Well, you're tough.
25:16So why'd you lie to me?
25:18Because again, I knew.
25:19I was just doing all the f***ing.
25:20I was praising for drugs, man.
25:23F***.
25:23I was a little bit of a...
25:24I was a little bit of a...
25:27So when was the last time you did coke?
25:28Probably like at 10 in the morning.
25:30We're going to get out of here.
25:31So we're going to buckle you in.
25:43Playing the scenario over in my head,
25:46it felt like a 15, 20-minute incident,
25:49but everything elapsed over the course of just two minutes, really.
25:53And it just goes to show when the adrenaline's running,
25:57the mind is racing,
25:59the reality just slows down.
26:08Part of proactive policing is getting into the areas where crime is often happening.
26:13The area we're in, we actually call it gunslingers.
26:18682, traffic on a bike.
26:22Number one now, white over black.
26:25Milton and Holly.
26:31Hey there, buddy.
26:32Do you mind putting the bike down?
26:33Yeah, there you go.
26:34All right, man.
26:35So the reason I'm talking to you is because you don't have a rear reflector,
26:37you don't have a headlight,
26:38you're out here in a pretty bad neighborhood with a mask on.
26:41You see what I'm saying?
26:42Can you take your hands out your pockets?
26:43Are you okay, man?
26:46You look like you're having a kind of hard time coming off your bike and all that, bro.
26:49It's because the handlebars, they're not tied on all the way.
26:52Okay.
26:53You want my name?
26:54Yeah.
26:54Hey, it's it.
26:55It's it.
26:56All right, give me one second.
26:58The name you gave me isn't coming back to anyone in Arizona.
27:01So are you lying to me about your name?
27:03No, no, no.
27:04Okay.
27:05Either my system's wrong or you're lying to me about who you are.
27:08I swear I'm not.
27:09There's no lying.
27:10Okay.
27:11I'm going to ask you again.
27:12Do you have any kind of drugs or active warrants?
27:17Maybe.
27:18Okay.
27:19I'm going to go ahead and ask you to put your hands behind your back.
27:22Give me your hands.
27:27Come on, bro.
27:28Okay.
27:29So were you lying to me about your name then?
27:31Yeah.
27:32All right.
27:33Perfection.
27:38Well, that's a good amount of blues.
27:44When did you start using them again?
27:46Three weeks.
27:47Three weeks?
27:48Yeah, it's trying to stay out of trouble and I relapsed, you know?
27:50Mm-hmm.
27:51I get it, man.
27:52I don't want to catch any charges.
27:53Life is hard out here.
27:54It's rough.
27:54I completely understand.
27:56Can you give me a real social now, bro?
27:58Yeah.
28:03That would be why he lied about his name.
28:06He has a felony warrant due to armed robbery.
28:10There's not a single day in this job where you're not getting lied to by someone for something.
28:18So your main thing is going to be the DOC violation, but you're going to get an additional
28:21charge for the blues.
28:23So.
28:24Speaking of violation, bro.
28:27I got to do you for the blues, bro.
28:28But I also see you have a lot of money and small bills.
28:31Are you slinging?
28:32No, it's just money.
28:33Okay.
28:36All right.
28:40We got about 40 or 50 fentanyl pills off the street.
28:43Fentanyl's killing hundreds, if not thousands of people every month.
28:49He wanted us to drop off his belongings at his mother's house.
28:53Oh, there it is.
28:55Sheriff Department.
28:58Hello.
28:58Like, he's not here right now.
29:00Oh, no.
29:02Well, he's arrested right now.
29:03We're just dropping off his personal belongings.
29:06Yeah.
29:06You haven't?
29:07Not right now.
29:08He's already on the way to jail.
29:10So he asked us to drop his stuff off here.
29:13What for?
29:14His parole violation as well as possession of narcotics.
29:18So he will be most likely going back to DOC.
29:20We found 40 or 50 fentanyl pills on this person.
29:23I was waiting for it.
29:24I was waiting for this day.
29:26And I'm just glad you guys got him and he's not out there dead somewhere.
29:32It seems like he has a pretty decent family here.
29:35And they were seriously worried about their son and brother.
29:37It just goes to show that us doing our job could even help a family member sleep better
29:43at night because at least they know where their family member is rather than doing God knows
29:49what on the streets.
29:52I've had family members overdose.
29:54I've had family members die from drug use.
29:57And being able to say I'm doing something to actually help, you know, I'm taking these
30:03drugs off the streets where they can be used by anyone is definitely something I take pride in.
30:23This car is kind of a little bit all over the road.
30:26682 traffic.
30:29Suspended plate as well.
30:31So we're going to see what happens here.
30:35682, we're coming to a stop just south of the intersection.
30:39The reason I'm pulling over is because you have a suspended license plate.
30:44Oh, oh, really?
30:46Also, is there a reason you have open containers in the car?
30:49Oh.
30:56All right, man.
30:57Can you go ahead and step out the car for me?
30:58Have you been drinking?
31:00Um, I did earlier.
31:07Hello?
31:09Sorry.
31:09Do you mind just walking over here with me real quick?
31:13Place your right foot ahead of your left foot, touching heel to toe just like this.
31:17And have your arms out of your shoulders.
31:23Are you able to get in the starting position at all?
31:27My balance is off.
31:30And I know that I was drinking early.
31:33I haven't been drinking, but I do.
31:37So, yeah.
31:39So, I could see they had a fresh pack of tall boys.
31:42They had another set of empty ones on the floor.
31:45And then as I walked around to the driver's side and saw the driver get out,
31:50she started trying to push beer cans under her seat.
31:53Okay.
31:54Big deep breath.
31:56And block.
32:03No, please.
32:04Do you want to turn it off for me?
32:05Okay.
32:05Because I'm going to place you on the rest for you.
32:06Oh, I ain't.
32:11Fortunately, we got to them before they hurt anybody.
32:14Seeing a car with a lot of alcohol like that is kind of insane.
32:17Because when you're driving, you don't expect the people next to you to be completely blitzed
32:22and actively drinking and driving.
32:25It's definitely concerning to me, especially because my friends, my loved ones drive these roads.
32:32And it's a shame people don't consider that.
32:36Not only are they putting their own lives in danger,
32:39but they're putting everyone else's lives in danger, too.
32:43If you want to go wait with your friends.
32:47All right.
32:48Good luck.
32:49Tonight, she's going to be going home and getting a ride with one of her friend's mom,
32:52like she should have in the first place.
33:10748, 285 vehicle.
33:14748.
33:151012 on the 28th.
33:19You guys good?
33:21Right there.
33:22Where?
33:25What road?
33:27Nadito.
33:28At the stop sign, we got to go right.
33:30I mean, I can get another unit over here,
33:32and he can literally drive behind us,
33:35and we can just push the thing the hallway.
33:36You want to do that?
33:38Oh, we can do that.
33:41He's having some kind of car trouble.
33:43Some have another unit come,
33:44make sure we don't get ran over while we push it.
33:46This house is like right around the corner.
33:48It's not even that far.
33:49Just follow behind us.
33:50Are you ready?
33:52Are we going to push it all the way there?
33:53We'll just push it.
33:54It's not going to start, right?
33:55No.
33:56We'll just push it.
33:59Please, dude.
34:02You're welcome.
34:05You want to switch?
34:08A free mid-shift workout?
34:10I mean,
34:11I can't really complain.
34:13How far now, bro?
34:14Oh, just on here.
34:15Just on here.
34:16It sounded a little closer than he said it was,
34:18to be honest.
34:24Brother, if you would have pushed this from down there,
34:27you would also.
34:30Now what?
34:31Let me see what I did.
34:34Yeah, right there.
34:35That one?
34:36Yeah.
34:37Oh, my God.
34:39On the right?
34:39On the right?
34:43Oh, my.
34:46Scruciating my arm burn.
34:47My leg's on fire.
34:49Never again.
34:51I will not push another car.
34:53Thank God for police.
34:55Now you like cars?
34:57Nice to meet y'all.
34:57Thank y'all.
34:58I appreciate it.
35:00You don't need me sweating.
35:04Ended up pushing the car maybe a mile.
35:07A lot further than I thought it was going to be.
35:10We got the guys out of the road.
35:11We got the car out of the road.
35:12So, yeah, we're all good.
35:209-1-1, what is your emergency?
35:23Hi, I am the manager of the Red River Bend.
35:26We had a disgruntled employee fired a few months ago
35:31that has been reported to be in one of our vacant rooms.
35:35I'm checking camera footage now.
35:39All right, we'll send up and he's over.
35:52We have a former employee possibly swatting in the vacant room.
36:00We have a trespass call at a Red Roof Inn
36:03and they're saying it's a former employee who's in one of the rooms.
36:11So why are you on property right now?
36:12I was trying to meet up with a friend.
36:15Were you in any of those other rooms?
36:17I was just a friend.
36:19Well, let me verify with them, see what the deal is.
36:23And what's your friend's name?
36:25Um, Mary.
36:26Mary? What's Mary's last name?
36:28I'm not sure.
36:30When were you terminated?
36:31It was a few months ago.
36:34Did they fire you or did you just not come back to work?
36:37We, like, mutually parted ways, I guess.
36:40That's kind of weird.
36:41Can you go ahead and stand up for me?
36:43You are being placed on the rest of the trespassing.
36:47So my understanding, you've been told multiple times
36:50after being fired that you can't be here.
36:53I've never had a paper.
36:55If someone has asked you not to be here
36:57and you continue to cover your location
37:00where you're supposed to not be,
37:01that is trespassing.
37:05They believe that he was going to vacant rooms.
37:08Because it sounds like he's doing some shady stuff here.
37:11Yeah.
37:12So from here on out,
37:14you're out of the trespass
37:15and I can just say let me do that.
37:17Oh, yeah.
37:18I'm going to remove those spous
37:19and then get off the property.
37:21Okay.
37:28Let me say this.
37:29I don't believe your story whatsoever, okay?
37:31I think you're here up to no good.
37:33So your best bet,
37:35unless you want me to build a case on you,
37:37is to never step foot on here again.
37:38Do you understand?
37:39I have no intention to.
37:40I'm telling you,
37:41unless you want that heat on you,
37:42stay away from here.
37:43No, I...
37:44Okay?
37:45All right.
37:46Get your stuff.
37:50If we see him on property,
37:51we'll just take him to jail every time.
38:01I've been working this area,
38:03had a lot of fruitful things come from it.
38:06It's just trying to catch the people
38:09actually selling drugs
38:10versus people buying the drugs.
38:13This is one of the roads
38:14where I had one of my biggest drug busts.
38:16It was a normal night shift.
38:18I think we were just coming in to shift,
38:20maybe around 8 p.m., 9 p.m.
38:25Our surveillance plane picked up some cars racing.
38:28Northbound out on through our O2 vehicles drag racing.
38:32This gentleman was going at a very high rate of speed.
38:35Speeds reached at 111 miles per hour at one point.
38:39Thinking this car has already been driving
38:41over 110 miles per hour,
38:43there's no reason he wouldn't try to escape.
38:46Still continuing.
38:47Speeds around 80.
38:48Passive traffic.
38:50I got on the road and started driving after it
38:52while the plane was giving us directions
38:54where it was going.
38:55The car does a weird U-turn,
38:58which isn't normal.
39:00So in my mind, I'm thinking,
39:01okay, it's going to take off.
39:03However, you know, surprisingly,
39:05he pulled into a parking lot.
39:14Never really know how people are going to react.
39:17Hello.
39:18Hello.
39:18Deputy McGinnis, the sheriff's car.
39:20Go ahead and take that in for a minute.
39:22What?
39:23Took out my stop sticks
39:24and threw them under the car
39:25just in case he was trying to lull us to sleep.
39:35You're under arrest for street racing.
39:37Don't pen test.
39:38I do arrest.
39:43As we're searching the car,
39:45we look under the sea
39:46and we find a huge amount of trucks.
39:49Probably one of the biggest stops
39:51I've been a part of.
39:52And they're all packaged, baggied,
39:55obviously for sale.
39:58He had over 120,
40:00maybe 140 grams of meth,
40:02over 700 fentanyl pills on him.
40:06He also had something we don't see at all these days,
40:09black tar heroin.
40:11Then find a pretty large sum of money as well.
40:15We have 100, 200, 250, 3.
40:20There's strokes?
40:23It's a friend's car.
40:24It's a friend's car?
40:25Yeah.
40:26Okay.
40:26I just pick it up like,
40:28what, like, probably an hour ago?
40:30Do you realize you're under arrest
40:31for intent to distribute drugs?
40:33Intent to what?
40:34Intent to distribute drugs.
40:36I didn't know the drugs were there, bro.
40:38Like, honestly, bro.
40:39So you hopped in the car
40:40and there's a ton of cash
40:41just sitting in the middle console
40:42right there in the open
40:43and you didn't think anything was weird?
40:45That's my cash, bro.
40:47That's your cash?
40:48I just catch it.
40:49I check this in the middle.
40:50Okay, so is that from your employer?
40:52Yeah.
40:53Where'd you cash it at?
40:55At PLS.
40:56At PLS?
40:57Yeah.
40:57Okay.
40:58Why would they give you
40:58a whole bunch of, like,
40:59used ones and fives and tens?
41:02I don't know, bro.
41:03That's how they give you the money.
41:05I don't know.
41:05That's how they give you the money?
41:06Okay.
41:16We didn't get any intelligence.
41:17There wasn't a tip.
41:18Someone didn't call us and say,
41:19look for this car on this road.
41:21It goes back to the theory
41:23of enforcing small things
41:24leads to bigger things.
41:26You know,
41:27we stopped them for street racing
41:28and we end up getting
41:29a very large quantity of drugs
41:32off the street.
41:33These drugs are killing people.
41:35They've been killing people
41:36for a long time
