The man wanted over the death of a 5-year-old girl has been moved to Darwin after being beaten by an enraged mob in Alice Springs overnight. Alleged murderer Jefferson Lewis is finally in police custody after 5 days on the run. The arrest triggered a riot in Alice Springs with several police and emergency workers injured and their vehicles damaged.

00:18Springs, that he was given a fit for custody check. Police told us today that his injuries
00:24were not so severe that it would warrant him staying in hospital. So we do know that he is in
00:30police custody and charges are yet to be laid, but we are expecting charges sometime in the next
00:3524 hours over or over the coming days. We don't know exactly what those charges are going to entail,
00:41but we do know that police have been very clear about their allegations against 47-year-old Jefferson
00:47Lewis. They have alleged that he is responsible for the abduction and the murder of Kumanjaya
00:52little baby. Exactly what his charges will be just remains to be seen.
