08:501 minute and 10 seconds now but actually the breakway seems to be working really well together
08:55and they've got some real horsepower in there scotland's mark stewart as well also in that
08:59in that move for the modern adventure pro cycling team as we get a sight of the
09:04the group behind and the standard squad putting a lot of riders on or near the front i wonder
09:09what their plan is today mula brahan is close to the front for them he's their best placed rider
09:15on general classification well actually he's not quite the best placed rider he's nikola vinikorov
09:19one of three riders from the astana squad in the top 10 overall mula brahan's gained a few bonus
09:24seconds in the intermediate sprint a little earlier on evan sosa safely close to the front david
09:30ballerini is is going well as this climb starts to take its toll on a few riders in that group
09:38having
09:39a little look across to see what sort of effort is making and well he's asking equipo karen farma to
09:45set the tempo and he's got a rider in the break so maybe thinking well i'm not going to do
09:48it
09:48exactly and that's the kind of thing when you get to the front of the group and you're setting this
09:53pace that maybe he's starting to find a bit tough he's looking for cooperation from other teams and it
09:59looks like it's not really coming for all that the gap has dwindled but the huge chunk that they took
10:08out of the advantage of this breakaway group it was what about a half a minute in the space of
10:13just a few
10:13kilometers on the approach to that climb that has that flow has been stemmed somewhat as we get
10:20another look at one of these impossibly beautiful lycean ports and villages that have sprawled and
10:28mushroomed into major tourist destinations every piece of of rock outcrop seemingly an opportunity for
10:38for development now speaking of development front of the peloton looks like it's getting very busy
10:44indeed ricard still setting steady tempo on the front of this uh of this breakaway group but the
10:49peloton are lurking and there's it looks as if they're coming across to them pretty soon yeah and
10:54total energy are just absolutely lighting it up they've got someone from cairo rail right in their
10:59wheel but they are really putting in an effort to make this climb as hard as possible maybe to
11:04shell out some of the sprinters on this climb and to just keep it a tough tough pace you can
11:09see
11:09the xcs astana henoch mulbran there in in third wheel and he's really grimacing to stay with the
11:15this total energy and uh caro rider yeah counter attack here from the peloton is it uh perhaps shagat
11:22who's decided to launch interesting move really they have of course fabian dubai in the break but the
11:27break looks like it's on borrowed time meanwhile uh mulabrahan and vinukurov trying to make their
11:34way across in the company of the aforementioned jordan jagar so changing personnel in prospect now dubai
11:41has a little look over his shoulder and what does he find out well he sees a teammate about to
11:46arrive so
11:46he's not going to contribute to the pace of that break he's just going to wait a moment
11:49then this will be a useful ally for the fast arriving jordan chicago i think it's chicago at
11:58any rate the man who was 10th in the tour de france in 2025 yeah absolutely it's strength in numbers
12:04once he gets across to that front group and it looks like it's going to happen very imminently
12:09and i think they're going to inject a bit of pace into it as well
12:14rickhart toiling on the front on helen just uh waiting and looking anxious about the arrival
12:20look at this steam train up on the outside jagat has dubai dubai actually is just going to try and
12:27assist this one dubai just took a moment like go to the front the total energy duo putting it up
12:33to
12:33them as this uh peloton also starting to dwindle in numbers quite the fracture and still 1400 meters of
12:40this climb remaining yeah it's completely splitting apart in the peloton i think a lot of sprinters are
12:44going to have been shelled already and it's going to be a real race of attrition coming to the top
12:48of
12:48this climb luckily they do have a long downhill afterwards so it does give a chance for riders
12:53who have been dropped to come back but i think the pace that's being set now is going to do
12:57some real
12:58damage to that top top in power a lot of sprinters are going to be feeling this one for sure
13:02we haven't
13:02seen too much sight sightner sound indeed of late of the uh the green jersey of tom craba
13:08now anilkovski as well sanoslav anilkovski no sign of him so far in this group or lately at any rate
13:15and said you can't dubai put a little daylight between themselves and the the other riders from
13:21the breakaway frustrating a little bit you might say for timo de jong finds himself in no man's land
13:27in between yeah it could be a dangerous duo to let get away these two total energy rider riders up
13:33the
13:33front and if they can work together and continue making this gap bigger they could be a really
13:38dangerous uh dangerous duo to let away inside 40 to go and inside about a kilometer from the top of
13:45this uh climb which is the final climb of the day there is a long ramp down a short little
13:50drag but
13:51not a particularly long one and then that takes them down to a further uh descent down to within 16
13:56kilometers at the finish line that's a way to go now look at this this is the overall race leader
14:01even evan sosa is in a bit of problem here he's got uh well a bit of daylight to cover
14:07he's got a
14:07teammate coming back to him that's uh yvonne ruiz ruiz has a little look over his shoulder dutiful and
14:13attentive but this is a a surprising situation developing here for evan sosa moments in attention
14:19or the legs not quite there today yeah it's hard to know what could have happened here i'd say
14:23maybe being a bit further back in the peloton didn't help matters but it might also just be the
14:27toll of five days of stage racing catching up to him and uh ahead of tomorrow's queen stage it's the
14:33last thing he'll want yeah a lot of pressure on evan sosa with the turquoise jersey of overall race
14:39leadership on his shoulders but he's trying to recover here as they roll around a couple of uh
14:45dropped riders still a bit of daylight between themselves and the rest of this group this group
14:49fracturing on the climb contrasting gears isn't it as evan sosa on the small ring it's a bigger gear
14:57being churned by his uh his teammate yvonne ruiz meanwhile look at that crocodile formation up to
15:03the top of this climb the distribution of uh of points will be made looks as if potentially indeed
15:10it is uh yana gear i think has scooped that one again so useful hall of points for him today
15:15he claimed top points of both climbs has now moved into um what the top three or four riders in
15:21that
15:22uh king of the mountains classification but i think he's thinking perhaps more about trying to
15:27infiltrate something a little bit special yeah absolutely he's probably seeing how well jordan
15:32jagat is pushing and thinking let me sit on his wheel and see what kind of result i can get
15:37out of a
15:37day like today especially seeing the distance that they're putting between the peloton and even sosa
15:43they're obviously riding at a super hard pace sosa's in trouble sosa is in trouble here he's out the
15:48back again and he hasn't quite managed to put that one together up and over the top of that climb
15:53still ruiz is continuing to encourage his race leading teammate to hang on in there and plenty of
16:00time to fix this one over the top of the climb and there's a long long way to go from
16:03here but the
16:04riders on the front particularly total energy sitting third overall remember with brujar and an opportunity
16:11perhaps to really deal a hammer blow now it's uh it's not a completely catastrophic situation here
16:18for even sosa but nonetheless this is sort of danger signals really for his general classification
16:24ambitions yeah and a team like harrow who are putting on the front here will love to hear that
16:29even sosa is in a bit of difficulty will give them a chance to claw back the 13 seconds that
16:34said berwick
16:35is down in second place on gc so they'll be doing their best to make sure that they keep pushing
16:40keep
16:40the pace really high in the peloton second place sebastian berwick's in the red jersey the red
16:45mountains jerseys put two teammates on the front he's sitting about 10th wheel in that group and
16:50sitting pretty at the moment meanwhile even sosa still not quite on it's uh it's tantalizingly close
16:56and it looks as if ruiz is going to close the gap here should be okay a couple of riders
17:00maybe to uh to
17:01assist looks a bit like submitio the cofidus rider has uh has rolled through to assist also willing to to
17:09contribute i think that could have been mark stewart who was in the early break now finds himself off
17:13the back and now finds himself how quickly things can change on this mountain yeah absolutely and
17:18just having a moment of weakness like maybe what even sosa had there it can really change the whole
17:23race for you and he might have just been behind a wheel that left a gap and all of a
17:27sudden you're
17:28left chasing for five ten minutes and it will be energy he really would have wanted to save for
17:32tomorrow yeah sosa is he's on the river doesn't he's absolutely pell-mell to stay in the wheel of
17:40mark stewart who managed to grab a bag at the feed zone close to the top of the hill meanwhile
17:44piling
17:45on the cold on the front is the astana squad they clearly have uh big ambitions today and a big
17:50agenda and multiple representation in this somewhat thinned out peloton the peloton nothing like as big as
17:56it was at the outset of today's race and well it's the astana squad that believed that they can deliver
18:02something special yeah astana are really pulling on the front here and they've got that peloton really
18:07pulled out in the line and you'd think that they're probably working for for their sprinter davide
18:13ballerini who i'm assuming might have made it over that couple of climbs today with them yeah he looked
18:18good didn't he on the climb just looking for others to contribute to the pacemaking but safely in there
18:24we believe at the moment is davide ballerini looking for another top 10 finish maybe a little bit more
18:31than that for the much uh much traveled italian all-rounder now the team picnic post nl inside
18:4210 kilometers of the day remaining and they've got casper van uden number 26 where he needs to be
18:47number two is davide ballerini the astana man has certainly survived this group and the astana squad
18:53have plenty of reason to to invest in his potential to convert for a glorious victory for the astana team
19:01today levgon of just in front of him behind cc rider muller brahan yeah and it would have been big
19:09work
19:09on behalf of the picnic post nl team and the xcss diana team to get their sprinters over those climbs
19:15and
19:15to make sure that they were coming into the sprint of today feeling comfortable uh so really great team
19:21right there from both teams casper van uden looking for his and indeed his team's first victory of the
19:27year down towards the concluding moments inside three kilometers remaining and a big charge on the
19:34front for the mbh squad they've got martin buszynski sitting in the in the line at the moment stefano
19:39aldani is uh is freelancing by the looks of things for the carrera squad the team picnic post nl team
19:45have no less than four riders to assist casper van uden in his bid for glory this hairpin bend is
19:52the final
19:54bend in the road the final impediments to the straight line progress of the riders to the finish
19:59line today yeah and that would have been a really big fight for a position coming into that 180 bend
20:04in the road and you can see that the mbh bank team took it really well they're out there leading
20:09the
20:09peloton uh with xcs astana following close behind and the whole picnic post nl team really lined out
20:15behind that modern adventure port cycling also trying to uh to move up we see representation of the
20:21borgesport pellet bh team they've got cesar matthias where he needs to be at least where he hopes he
20:27needs to be at any rate penial ver perhaps for team palti visit malta the left-hand side of picture
20:33in
20:33those red shorts white jerseys green sleeves the stana team now starting to assemble ballerini
20:39in in position and well is he in position is he where he needs to be at the moment he's
20:44on his own
20:45he's got muller brown just behind him and as we race under the kite into the final thousand meters
20:50team picnic post nl will have the honors of leading this one out they've still got three riders
20:54in front of kasper van huden looking good ballerini has got the wheel of the uh of the dutchman and
20:59ballerini looking to time his run to absolute perfection bardiani as well what uh what chance
21:05have they got as they put zvekov into prime position now waiting to launch 500 to go ballerini
21:12finds himself a little bit squeezed out of it so it's kasper van huden third in line
21:16uh march and buschinski sitting on his wheel dvetkov is waiting to launch as well as the
21:21istana team looking to put their lead outs into position on the right hand side of the road here
21:26comes ballerini up on the rails on the left hand side van huden is on the tail of a teammate
21:30and about
21:31to come off his wheel so it's one-on-one for stage honors here as ballerini gets just over a
21:35bike length
21:35advantage on the team picnic post nl man buschinski in position as well it's ballerini running out of gas
21:41here here comes kasper van huden through to the line for the team picnic post nl squad
21:44pushinski off his wheel but he's not going to get there it's kasper van huden that's going to get
21:48the victory let's see what that means to him it's a sensational success on stage five for the team
21:55picnic post nl squad first victory of the season for kasper van huden and that is a source of ecstasy
22:02and relief in equal measure for the team picnic post nl team as kasper van huden delivers a slam dunk
22:09victory it's more clenched fist celebration as he arrives at his team helper and well well there's
22:17a that's a that's a massive result for kasper van huden and a huge result for the team picnic post
22:22nl team after a really really great lead out yeah absolutely they worked together so well you could
22:27see it from about two three k out how they all found each other and just moved up that peloton
22:32in
22:32a real solid line and to be able to deliver and give back to his teammates at the end of
22:36the day and to
22:37all of the staff i'm sure that's exactly what it's all about for him yeah they'll be partying tonight
22:42i think the disco lights are going to be on in the van and back to the hotel after that
22:45one
22:46yeah and a great prep as well ahead of uh the giro coming up so you can see it here
22:51how it all
22:52transpired ballerini goes for a long one looked to catch out the team picnic post and else just for
22:58a moment but in effect uh provided a nice leader yeah absolutely and the way that kasper van huden
23:04saw that happening he just jumped onto ballerini's wheel and then got in the slipstream and use it
23:09to his advantage to take this incredible win pacinski gets up and over ballerini who's also swamped by
23:16others in the uh in the dash to the line spec off i think potentially getting up for the final
23:23podium
23:23position but no doubt whatsoever but kasper van huden would claim success in the presidential cycling
23:32tour of turkey stage five
23:41delighting khmer for the dutch registered team with their dutch sprinter and as you say off to
23:48the first grand tour of the season in giro d'italia yeah so taking the win the week before will
23:55have
23:55just given him the the confidence boost that that every sprinter needs and wants
23:59ahead of the victory ahead of martin buchinski he was absolutely delighted about that one
24:05yeah i feel really happy i think the first few days were a bit of a struggle
24:10yeah i'm afraid to say it i was maybe too scared in the first few stages in the beginning i
24:16had a lot of
24:17pressures already this year so i had to find my feet again a little bit but no the boys they
24:22kept
24:22believing in me the team kept believing in me and i showed them again that i can do it so
24:26it's nice
24:28to reward all their confidence in me and all their hard work you had a lot of hiccups before your
24:34giro d'italia win last year again since does it make the win sweeter yeah i think it just feels
24:40really
24:41good just to be able to give back that's what i like most give back to the boys for all
24:45the hard work
24:45give back to the staff for all the hard work everyone at the races and also back at the hq
24:50i
24:50think it's really nice to reward them for for all their hard work and also reward myself for the hard
24:55work well it's reward given in various different forms holiday to turkey is in prospect for the top
25:06three finishers asper van uden the happiest of all general classification no change after that little
25:15scare for ivan ramiro sosis he carries a 13 second advantage into the stage six summit finish big gc
25:22appointment coming up uh tomorrow briar still in good shape as well fancello and the rest another
25:28turquoise jersey for ivan sosis he looks forward to stage six of the presidential cycling tour of turkey
25:34from antalia to feshnikhan
25:38he's running with this lovely turquoise jersey leader of the general classic game
