00:1880-year-old Suu Kyi was originally sentenced to 33 years on charges ranging from corruption to inciting election fraud.
00:26Following the 2021 military coup that ousted Myanmar's civilian government, her term was later reduced to 27 years and then
00:36cut further under a Myanmar New Year amnesty in April.
00:39The latest reduction follows a broader decision by authorities to commute sentences for all prisoners.
00:46Suu Kyi's whereabouts remain unknown and she has not been seen in public since her trials.
00:51But Myanmar's president Min Aung Leung recently said she is being well looked after.
00:55His government has been facing continuous pressure to release political detainees as it seeks to re-engage with ASEAN.
