00:00Last week, Otani had his worst week as a Dodger offensively.
00:04He was 3 for 23, I think it was.
00:06He had 9 strikeouts. He didn't have a home run.
00:08He didn't have an extra race hit.
00:10Even beyond the numbers, he just looked terrible.
00:12Right. A certain columnist might have suggested he's going to have a 200 strikeout season,
00:17both as a hitter and pitcher, which is like the most backhanded of backhanded compliments.
00:22I think you could have given him.
00:25And to me, it was a sign, and if you talk to people around the Dodgers,
00:29they pointed to this, too, that, hey, he's like a full-time two-way player again.
00:35There is so much more that goes into what he's doing this year
00:38than even compared to last year when he was going two innings and three innings
00:42and four innings in his start.
00:43He's throwing 100 pitches at full intensity.
00:46I think in all of his starts, we've kind of seen him have even more edge and focus
00:51and fire than we have seen out of him as a pitcher the last couple years with this team.
00:58That takes a lot out of you, and I think a question that is going to linger over him all
01:03year
01:03is how much all of that impacts the hitting.
01:06Now, Dave Roberts said it's only common sense that it will a little.
01:09You know, Miguel Rojas and Freddie Freeman both talked about how, like, they can tell,
01:14like, he has to put so much more focus into the pitching side.
01:16So it was important to me to see that, you know, he still could come back,
01:21contain his slump to one week, and then have back-to-back nights where he looked really good
01:27and contributes to a walk-off inning here.
