00:00Hey everyone, it's Bebe Rexha, and you're watching The Hot 100 Show.
00:06Hey, it's Katzai.
00:08Hey, it's Tate McRae.
00:09Hey, what's up? It's Serena Carpenter.
00:10Hey, we are BDS.
00:12This is my team star.
00:14Girl, we did it, baby.
00:16Hey, it's Megan Trainor.
00:17And this is The Hot 100 Show.
00:20Hey, what's up? And welcome to another episode of The Hot 100 Show.
00:23That's right, we got my girl Bebe Rexha on today.
00:26And of course, all your charts and the New York team to discuss it.
00:29So let's jump into numbers 10 through 8.
00:32Down to 10 is Folded.
00:38As is Golden to number 9.
00:48Coachella brings Daisies back to 8.
00:55That's the beginning of our charts.
00:57New York, what do you guys think?
00:59All right, well, we've got to talk about Beaver, right?
01:02You were just at Coachella.
01:03I was at Coachella, but then we also have to talk about Folded,
01:06and we've got to talk about Golden,
01:08because I'm going to get to see them live in a few days for WIM.
01:12Oh my God, of course.
01:13Oh, that's right.
01:14K-pop Beaver 100, our Women of the Year.
01:16Our Women of the Year making history as the first group
01:19to obtain the honor of Women of the Year.
01:23Women, not just women.
01:24Women.
01:25We love plurals.
01:26We love plurals around this camp,
01:28and we will also see a live performance of Folded.
01:33So I'm actually eating very good over here.
01:36I'm three for three.
01:37I love this for Huntrix, too,
01:39because I felt like the Oscars were like,
01:41you know, everything was coming down to that,
01:42and that was like the big finish of their big campaign,
01:45their big year, the whole run.
01:47But now, like, this is like another thing
01:49that we get to award them with something,
01:51and this might be the icing on top of everything.
01:54So, yeah.
01:55Yeah, and of course, with Kehlani,
01:56the album, Kehlani, self-titled, came out just last week.
02:00So Kehlani's in a big season again,
02:01obviously Folded, still to be in the top ten.
02:03It's one of those things that, you know,
02:05when this record came out,
02:06it's sort of part of that R&B renaissance
02:08that we saw with Mud as well,
02:09where Mud, it took a long time to get there.
02:11Folded got there a little quicker.
02:12But I don't know about y'all,
02:13I'm impressed that Folded is hanging on as well as it did.
02:16I knew it would have a run and a window,
02:18but here we are, you know, at the end of April.
02:20I mean, this song really broke out around November last year.
02:23And so just to continue to have that milestone for Kehlani,
02:26and then, of course, we'll see what the album does.
02:28There's a lot of big features on there,
02:29everybody from Clips and Missy and Lil Wayne
02:32and probably ten other guests that I can't even name right now.
02:35But we'll see, you know, as big as the lead-up is for this album,
02:38hopefully that can continue the momentum for her.
02:40And so between, you know,
02:42just these powerhouses of Bieber coming off Coachella,
02:44you've got Huntrix, Women in Music,
02:47and then Kehlani with this big album.
02:49I mean, all three of these people in the top ten,
02:51they are, as Delisa likes to say, they are eating.
02:53They are eating, they are eating.
02:55And I think a big thing about Kehlani
02:57and also the K-pop Demon Hunters with EJ's storytelling
03:01around the song that we got to see from this latest album run,
03:05it really is all about your timing.
03:07So to be able to see Kehlani, who had her career really pop younger
03:12and probably like, what, would it be like eight years ago?
03:16Am I tripping on the timeline?
03:17It's been a while.
03:18It's been like, we first, she came to our consciousness,
03:21we were excited about Kehlani,
03:22and then she took the time to continue to hone her craft,
03:24folded, getting celebrated,
03:26this new Kehlani album being celebrated,
03:28also with EJ talking about her kind of journey through the K-pop world
03:32and not feeling like she belonged,
03:34and then all of a sudden getting this massive, massive, massive film
03:37and massive success based off of her writing and her storytelling.
03:42Both of these women are true testaments to staying in your time,
03:46so I'm excited to celebrate them in just a few days.
03:49Yeah.
03:49Do want to give a shout-out also,
03:51I know we're talking about Bieber and Daisies,
03:52obviously with Coachella coming up in the past week,
03:55but obviously with Daisies having been a more recent song.
03:58That catalog really, though, is continuing to show
04:00in a way that we really haven't seen a Coachella performance
04:03do this kind of lift for any artist.
04:05We've seen it after the Super Bowl,
04:06obviously Bad Bunny this year had a huge run,
04:08we saw with Kendrick Lamar last year,
04:10sort of the same thing.
04:11But when you look at, you know,
04:12what the Bieber catalog's doing,
04:14Beauty and a Beat,
04:15the one with Nicki Minaj from,
04:16I mean, at this point it's almost 14 years, I think,
04:18is right just outside the top 10,
04:20number 11 this week.
04:21It is number one on the Billboard Global Excluding US chart,
04:25so taking outside the US,
04:26really one of the biggest songs in the world,
04:28and just, you know, not Bieber's sort of signature song,
04:31not this one that you'd expect to be blowing up.
04:33The fans really, you know, really supporting it out there.
04:36Of course, Barb's Nicki Minaj,
04:37you know they're going to be a big force behind it.
04:39So to see, you know,
04:40some of these tracks that are over a decade old
04:42getting this kind of love
04:43and continuing to get it,
04:45it's not just sort of this one two-day bump.
04:46Here we are, you know,
04:48two weeks from the first performance,
04:50the one that was really, you know,
04:51so buzzed and talked about.
04:52I mean, just to see this little Bieber-sance moment,
04:55it is something, again,
04:56that you just would not have expected,
04:57but it's always cool to see this kind of thing happen.
04:59Yeah, and we saw even more gains from the,
05:01like his second weekend performance,
05:03where he brought out, you know,
05:04SZA and Billie Eilish and all these other people.
05:06Like, it's really amazing.
05:07I think on our global chart,
05:08he had over 20 songs charting at the same time.
05:11So I think having that live stream
05:13where everybody can tune in from around the world
05:15was, it really paid off for not just Coachella,
05:17but for Bieber and his catalog as well.
05:19Good to hear from you guys.
05:21As always, let's jump into the next part of the chart.
05:24So Easy slips to seven.
05:32With Ordinary to number six.
05:41Be Her to five.
05:48And Man I Need to number four.
05:56And that was number seven through four.
05:58What do you guys think?
05:59Double Dean.
06:01Yeah, we got a little,
06:02we got a little bookend with Olivia Dean
06:04in this section coming in at four and seven.
06:07So Easy to Fall in Love.
06:08Number one this week on the pop airplay chart.
06:11So a big radio win for that song this week.
06:13It continues to climb up the Hot 100 a bit.
06:15I don't know about y'all.
06:17I mean, with Man I Need there,
06:18you know, so easy to fall in love.
06:19It's a different kind of sound.
06:21I'm a little surprised that, you know,
06:23impressed that people are still kind of,
06:24like, like,
06:25matching on to this in this kind of way.
06:27It's so fun.
06:28Have y'all ever seen the wedding date
06:29with, um, Deborah Messing?
06:32No?
06:33No.
06:33Wedding planner check.
06:35Like, wedding crashers.
06:36But wedding dating.
06:38Okay, so there's a moment in the wedding date
06:39where Michael Buble starts to play.
06:41And that's what this So Easy to Fall in Love
06:44really gives me.
06:45It gives me cinematic.
06:47It gives me main character,
06:48which I think Olivia Dean's music
06:49just leans toward a main character energy.
06:51Yes.
06:52And so it makes actually all the sense in the world for me
06:55that So Easy to Fall in Love is getting this,
06:57this wind.
06:58I think, obviously, Man I Need open the door
07:00for a lot of people to say,
07:02who is Olivia Dean?
07:03And I think the more and more you listen to her track list,
07:05the more bright spots really start to emerge.
07:07And I think that's the great thing of a breakthrough single
07:10is, like, it breaks through your discography
07:12to more and more people
07:13so that they can find other, you know,
07:16hate to be this, more songs to love.
07:18So I think So Easy to Fall in Love
07:20is definitely one of those ones that you,
07:22if you are in a Nancy Meyers movie
07:26and you are the main character waking up
07:29to start your day with a cup of coffee
07:30and you're beautifully outfitted home
07:33even though you're a writer of only one book,
07:35that is the perfect soundtrack for you.
07:38So love it.
07:39So true.
07:39I hope that this is, like,
07:41this is just the beginning for So Easy to Fall in Love
07:43where maybe it can still continue to climb.
07:45Man I Need was just so massive
07:47that I think it's still getting so much radio play
07:49and so many streams where it's been in the top 10
07:52for months now.
07:53So I know it might be a little tougher
07:55to have another Olivia song,
07:56maybe outshine it and climb even higher,
07:59but I don't know.
08:00I guess we'll just have to see.
08:01Yeah, I think with So Easy to Fall in Love,
08:02it's kind of, I mean, the video I think definitely has
08:04that kind of main character vibe
08:06and it's really fun to watch.
08:08You know, it also has this, like, flair
08:10at the same time at Risk It All,
08:11Bruno Mars is coming up.
08:12It kind of reminds me, like,
08:13we're in this little pocket where,
08:15especially when I think summertime comes up
08:16and people kind of want that,
08:17you know, just that little fresh sound
08:19that really accompanies that season,
08:21that that could really kind of drive it up
08:22a little more.
08:23But also, huge shout out for Olivia Dean
08:25to sort of get out of the one-hit-wonder conversation
08:28very quickly.
08:29So Easy to Fall in Love has been a hit on Hot 100
08:31for a while now,
08:32so it's not like she was really,
08:33you know, has not been in danger of that
08:34for a long time.
08:35But certainly when you get that second top 10
08:37to follow that first one,
08:38you know, nowadays the critics on the internet
08:40are so quick to pigeonhole you and say,
08:43okay, you got Man I Need and Great,
08:44like, but what else?
08:45What else you got?
08:45What else you got?
08:46And she's like, oh, I got this
08:48and I got probably some more on the way.
08:49Certainly, I know people are looking at her
08:51as a huge Grammy contender.
08:52We're already more than halfway through
08:53the Grammy season on the calendar next year.
08:56So yeah, a lot of things can continue to happen
08:58in the summer and the fall for Olivia.
08:59So, I mean, shout out to her for just keeping it going.
09:02Shout out the Brits.
09:03Shout out the Brits.
09:04And then we also have another Ella Langley
09:06mentioned here.
09:07Beat her.
09:10Loving this pocket that Ella is really heading down.
09:14I think we talked about this maybe like
09:17the first time we had this show,
09:18but just I really appreciate this lane
09:21that Ella Langley is carving out for herself.
09:23I'm excited to see her play.
09:25I think we've seen it in country artists
09:27like a Kacey Musgraves,
09:28who really figure out their signature
09:30really quite early on.
09:32I think Ella's doing that.
09:33And I think it's showing with how well
09:36her music is being received.
09:38But she's got a pocket and I'm liking it.
09:42I think what's so crazy too
09:43is that she just played stage coach
09:44this past weekend,
09:46but she wasn't even a headliner.
09:47I think she was on the second or third row
09:49of that lineup.
09:50And obviously if they were making the lineup
09:52like today,
09:53easily be a headliner.
09:54And she's been so massive,
09:55but she was playing in the afternoon
09:58and obviously played Jews in Texas,
09:59which we'll get to,
10:00and be her.
10:01And coming off of a win
10:03with a two-week number one album,
10:05Dandelion,
10:06it's a good time to be Ella Langley.
10:08That just goes to show also
10:09how early these festivals are booked
10:11because the fact that like,
10:13you know,
10:13of course,
10:13yeah,
10:14like any sort of regular goer
10:15is going to be like,
10:15oh my God,
10:16they messed up by not putting.
10:17It's like,
10:17yo,
10:17we signed this contract
10:18like six months ago.
10:19How would they know?
10:20Before we were,
10:21you know,
10:21yeah.
10:21So.
10:22How would they know?
10:23How would they know?
10:24I know y'all saw Zara Larson
10:25was on the college tour.
10:26Did you see her respond?
10:27And she was like,
10:28guys,
10:29they booked me a long time ago,
10:30but baby,
10:31I'm seeing it through.
10:32And I love that.
10:32I really appreciated that.
10:34She was like,
10:35I signed something.
10:36I'm going to commit to it.
10:37I'm going to honor it.
10:37Right.
10:38I mean,
10:38get your tickets now
10:39because you might not see me
10:40in this space again
10:41for a long time.
10:42So,
10:43you know,
10:43just see that glow up
10:44in real time was cool.
10:45Yeah.
10:46And also got to give a shout out
10:47to our dude,
10:47Alex Warren.
10:48I think I called it
10:49maybe when we first started this.
10:51I was like,
10:52I think we're going to be talking
10:52about this song
10:53for a very long time.
10:54Number one on Hot AC Radio
10:55for I think an 11th week.
10:58Yeah.
10:58Okay.
10:59It's been there.
10:59It's still hanging on.
11:00I mean,
11:01remember,
11:02this was the song
11:02of the summer of 2025.
11:04Here we are in late April.
11:06We're not far from,
11:07you know,
11:07starting the song
11:08of the summer 2026 conversations.
11:10And this song,
11:11you know,
11:11at least be in the contention,
11:13you know,
11:13to be in the top 10
11:14two consecutive summers.
11:15And really,
11:16I mean,
11:16I know we have Iceman on the way.
11:18I don't know.
11:18I feel too much other stuff
11:20that looks like it could really,
11:21you know,
11:22clog up some spots.
11:23Olivia Rodrigo
11:23a little further down the summer.
11:24But I mean,
11:25Alex has survived.
11:27Maybe.
11:28Yeah.
11:28We have a Sabrina Carpenter song
11:30with Madonna.
11:31I was saying,
11:31is Madonna coming?
11:32Okay.
11:33We've got some contenders.
11:34But you know,
11:34Alex has survived.
11:35I mean,
11:35look,
11:36he survived Bruno.
11:36He survived Harry Styles.
11:38K-pop Demon Hunters.
11:39He survived K-pop Demon Hunters.
11:40He survived
11:40Life of the Showgirl.
11:43Yeah.
11:43He, I mean,
11:44He's still there.
11:45Anybody's, yeah.
11:46Look at him.
11:46He's a Marvel cinematic character
11:48at this point.
11:49No ordinary things
11:50to say about Mr. Alex Warren.
11:52I'm curious
11:52what his follow-up
11:53is going to be.
11:53If he has,
11:54I'm sure he has some plans
11:55that his team are in the works
11:56to create,
11:57you know,
11:57what his comeback
11:58is going to be
11:58with a new song
11:59that's going to
11:59maybe even bigger
12:01than ordinary.
12:01But I guess we'll just
12:02have to wait and see.
12:03I mean,
12:04no rush
12:04the way this song's going.
12:05So just keep riding this out.
12:07Take it to him.
12:08Okay,
12:08enough opinions for now.
12:10Bebe Rex is here.
12:11Let's check out
12:11her new single.
12:17Well,
12:18look who I have here
12:18at the Hot 100 show,
12:20the Dirty Blonde herself.
12:21Hey, Bebe,
12:21what's going on?
12:22Hi, Tetris Kelly.
12:23How are you?
12:24I'm good.
12:25You've been so busy.
12:26Yes.
12:26And I love this rollout
12:27because it's so
12:28including the fans.
12:29Yes.
12:29So tell me,
12:30how has it been
12:31to have the fans
12:31like involved
12:32with the whole rollout
12:33for Dirty Blonde?
12:34It's been,
12:34I mean,
12:35I love it
12:35and especially
12:36being independent.
12:37It's fun,
12:38but then also
12:38have received
12:39some threats.
12:40Threats?
12:41Well,
12:41when we did
12:42the voting thing,
12:43when we were doing
12:44the voting
12:44and I was going to
12:45like pick a single
12:47or whatever
12:47and they were like,
12:49if you don't pick
12:49New Religion,
12:50like we are going
12:51to stop standing you
12:53and it's over
12:53and I was like,
12:55heard you loud
12:55and clear.
12:57Got you.
12:57Well,
12:58I mean,
12:58you did pick a good one.
12:59They picked a good one.
13:00We'll give them
13:00the credit for this.
13:01they did.
13:02They did.
13:02So New Religion,
13:03how has it been
13:04to get that response
13:05for this song?
13:06I mean,
13:06people are DJing
13:07and doing their sets
13:07and stuff.
13:08So the community
13:09is ready to kind
13:09of embrace you with it.
13:11You know,
13:12I was kind of scared
13:13because the sample
13:15is such an iconic
13:16dance sample
13:18and, you know,
13:19for a lot of,
13:20like I remember
13:20playing it for David Guetta
13:21and he was like,
13:22this is dangerous territory
13:23because it's such,
13:24it's like a religious song
13:27for, like it's such
13:28an important song
13:29for the dance community
13:30and I said,
13:31well,
13:31I'm doing it
13:31with Faithless
13:32and they've got,
13:33given me clearance
13:33and they've never cleared
13:34it in like 30 years.
13:36Wow,
13:36that's insane.
13:36About 30 years
13:37and I was shocked
13:39when they cleared it
13:40and for me,
13:41what I'm thinking
13:41to myself is
13:42I just wanted
13:43to do the best version
13:45and be respectful
13:46and include them
13:47because especially
13:48as a songwriter,
13:49I'm also very skeptical
13:50when people do remakes
13:52and especially
13:52after I'm good,
13:53I was like,
13:53I don't want to do another,
13:55you know what I mean?
13:55But it just happens
13:56so naturally
13:57and the fans love it
14:00and yeah,
14:02I mean,
14:02the way that I think
14:03about it too
14:04is that now
14:05I feel like
14:06the younger generations
14:07are hearing it
14:07and be like,
14:08I've heard this,
14:09I don't know what this is,
14:10this sounds like,
14:11I've heard this before
14:12so I think that's
14:13like a really cool
14:14part of it.
14:15Yeah,
14:16a certain bop.
14:17Check it out.
14:23So good
14:23and I mean,
14:24we got to talk
14:24about the new one,
14:25Hysteria.
14:26Yes.
14:26And I love again,
14:27dropping with visuals
14:28at the same time,
14:29so exciting.
14:30So how was it
14:30to film that
14:31and how's the reaction
14:31been for that?
14:32It's been amazing
14:33and you know,
14:35we shot 13 visuals
14:36in three days
14:36Wait,
14:37you did it all
14:37in three days?
14:38Yeah.
14:39Yes.
14:39There was a lot of,
14:41it was crazy.
14:42It was crazy.
14:43now you got to tell me
14:44right away,
14:44what was one of the
14:45craziest moments
14:46that you happened on set?
14:47Like hair,
14:48makeup,
14:48all this stuff.
14:49I mean,
14:49cause 13 visuals
14:50in three days
14:51is wild.
14:52I think I had,
14:53I counted like
14:53all the black and blues
14:54on me.
14:55I have a video of it.
14:56Like I put in my
14:57dressing room,
14:58it was,
14:59I had paper cuts,
15:00I had nails
15:01falling off consistently.
15:03I had like,
15:03no more nails.
15:04I had like black and blues.
15:05I just kept,
15:06you know,
15:06falling cause we're,
15:07you know,
15:07we were really trying
15:08to give each video
15:09like an hour and a half tops.
15:10Wow.
15:11So it's like,
15:11we were back to back to back,
15:13but it was a fun experience
15:15because like every different song,
15:17we got to change up the outfit,
15:19different location.
15:20So it was really,
15:21it kind of reminded me
15:22of back in the day,
15:23like when I was doing things
15:24and it was like,
15:25you know,
15:26like it was more guerrilla style
15:27and you just needed
15:28to figure it out
15:29and that kind of
15:30was invigorating for me.
15:32I mean,
15:32well,
15:33now that hysteria is out though,
15:34what do you feel like
15:34is one of these visuals
15:35that you're the most excited
15:37for them to see?
15:38The way I want you,
15:40which is me in the shower,
15:41but it's like a really
15:42like deep song
15:43and I think one day
15:44is going to be really good
15:45with me and the bodybuilder.
15:47It's just funny.
15:48Wow.
15:48You shower,
15:49you are doing the most girl.
15:50I know.
15:51I'm always doing the most.
15:53And we love that about you.
15:54So what would you say
15:55the overall theme
15:56for Dirty Blonde is?
15:57Like what is the vibe
15:58for the album itself?
15:59For me,
16:01I've always,
16:02you know,
16:02especially with my story
16:04being a songwriter
16:06and trying to find my voice
16:08and having songs
16:09and, you know,
16:10having to give songs away
16:11with my,
16:11like with my career.
16:13But I had to do that
16:14to get to where
16:14I needed to get to
16:15and to get the voices
16:16and the eyes on me
16:17when it came to the industry.
16:20For me,
16:20I also felt for a very long time,
16:22like who am I
16:24trying to fit a mold?
16:25And I think I've come to a point
16:27for Dirty Blonde.
16:28Dirty Blonde for me
16:29is like being unapologetically yourself
16:30and not asking for permission.
16:32So if I want to put on
16:34a country jersey bounce song
16:36like Drinking a Little Love,
16:37I'm going to do it.
16:38If I want to do
16:38The Way I Want You,
16:40which is,
16:41starts out with acoustic guitar
16:42into a rhythmic verse
16:43and then big guitars
16:44and then into a dance song,
16:46I'm going to do it.
16:46And I think for me,
16:48this is more so
16:49the feeling of like,
16:51I don't want to fit into a box.
16:53I just want to be me,
16:54you know,
16:54like unapologetically,
16:57not unauthentically,
16:58authentically myself,
16:59you know?
17:00And not asking for permission.
17:02It just feels so good,
17:03you know,
17:03being independent,
17:04doing what I want,
17:06putting the music
17:06that I love out,
17:07putting the visuals
17:07I love out,
17:08having a whole new team
17:09of people that believe in me.
17:10It just like really feeds my soul
17:12and then seeing
17:13how the fans are reacting,
17:14like just,
17:18I'm happier.
17:19I'm like happier
17:19than I've ever been.
17:20Listen,
17:20we're proud of you
17:21because I think
17:21that's what makes you great
17:22is how you can do
17:23so many different sounds.
17:24I'm a mess.
17:25It's different from meant to be.
17:26It's different from I'm good.
17:27You know,
17:28you can kind of dip in all those.
17:29And the fans are supporting you
17:31through this.
17:31So can you tell me
17:31how that's been specifically?
17:33That like,
17:33I feel like the Twitter community,
17:35all the online community
17:36was like,
17:36we need to get her
17:37out of the asylum.
17:37Oh yeah.
17:38And they're like,
17:39let's do it.
17:39It's a team effort.
17:40It's a group effort.
17:41I'm like, babes,
17:41whatever makes you happy.
17:42I was like,
17:43we can be in,
17:44we can be out.
17:45But as long as you're
17:45talking about me,
17:47then I'm doing something right.
17:48You know,
17:49you know what I mean?
17:49And I feel like an old person
17:51because you tell me like,
17:52you know what I said?
17:53Can I tell you what I said?
17:54Where is the,
17:55the Kaya Asylum,
17:56Kaya Asylum,
17:57where is it for the men?
17:58Hello,
17:59put them in it.
18:00Where are the men?
18:01Where are the men?
18:02Tell me,
18:02where are the men at?
18:03Why is it only the girls?
18:04Because I didn't even,
18:05to be quite honest,
18:06everybody's been saying this.
18:07I didn't even know
18:08where the saying came from.
18:09Like,
18:10I know where the saying came from,
18:11but I don't want to like,
18:12get into it
18:12because I feel like
18:13it's kind of disrespectful.
18:14Okay, good.
18:15See, I don't know,
18:15I gotta go do some big names.
18:16To the other artists
18:16who I think is incredible
18:18and,
18:20you know,
18:20I just think it's culture
18:21and people like to have fun
18:22and people like to,
18:23you know,
18:24joke.
18:24And I like to be,
18:25I think for me,
18:26in this era,
18:27I'm like,
18:29I want to make fun of myself.
18:30I don't think anything
18:31is that serious.
18:32It's not.
18:32You know,
18:33and I think we live our lives,
18:34like we never know,
18:35like everything is do or die
18:36and like really nothing
18:37is do or die.
18:37Like we're on a floating planet.
18:39And I mean,
18:40how do you feel
18:40with the fame,
18:42how long you've been
18:42in this game?
18:43Like,
18:43how do you approach it now?
18:45Reading online comments,
18:46any of that kind of stuff.
18:47I love the video of you
18:48in Beverly Hills
18:48the other day,
18:48like running.
18:49You're like,
18:50it's from the paparazzi.
18:51I was dying.
18:52I was like,
18:53this girl was living.
18:54Let me tell you,
18:57I,
18:57I swear I had a feeling.
18:59I was like,
18:59should I look cute today?
19:00Oh,
19:01this is,
19:01you're like,
19:01I was like,
19:02should I look cute today?
19:03I was like,
19:03nah.
19:04I was like,
19:04I'm going to like a deli.
19:05Like I went to a deli.
19:06You know,
19:06I was like,
19:07I'm going to a deli.
19:08I'll wear like my leggings
19:10and like whatever,
19:12any hoodie I could find.
19:14Of course,
19:15like that one day.
19:16There they are.
19:17And everyone's like,
19:18oh,
19:18she called the paparazzi.
19:19I was like,
19:19you think I would call
19:20the paparazzi looking like that?
19:22Like I was in leggings
19:23and a hoodie.
19:24Like if I call the paparazzi,
19:26you know,
19:27I would like be looking like
19:28head to toe,
19:30like,
19:30you know,
19:31fire.
19:32So when I saw them,
19:33I don't know my reaction
19:34because they came at me like,
19:35like in two different directions.
19:37And I was like,
19:37ah,
19:37and I just ran.
19:38I was like,
19:39I was like.
19:40Because that's what I think
19:41about all the time.
19:42Like you guys' life
19:43isn't real to us.
19:44So it's like,
19:45how do you even process?
19:45Like I just want to go
19:46to the grocery store,
19:47but now I'm getting chased down.
19:48The thing with me is though,
19:49like people are,
19:50they do clock it.
19:51Like some celebrities
19:52will call paparazzi
19:53for certain things
19:54or you go to certain areas
19:55where you know
19:56the paparazzi's at.
19:57That one area,
19:58like I would never think.
20:00Never think.
20:00Yeah,
20:00because I was just going
20:01to a deli.
20:02Like,
20:02you know,
20:02I was trying to get
20:05like just chill
20:06and hang out with my friends.
20:07And then I'm like,
20:08yeah.
20:09I was like,
20:10ah,
20:10I knew I should have
20:10wore something cute.
20:12Well,
20:12you always look good.
20:13It's all good.
20:14I mean,
20:14when you think about your career
20:15and like you got this new era,
20:17you're putting out new music,
20:18you've accomplished so much.
20:19So what is there left for you?
20:21Like what is,
20:22what are your goals?
20:24You know,
20:25with my journey,
20:25it's been really interesting
20:26and that's why I'm like
20:27really grateful for my fans.
20:29You know,
20:29I've had a lot of ups and downs
20:31and,
20:32you know,
20:33there's been a lot of tough moments.
20:35And with the highs and lows
20:36and now putting out
20:37this new music
20:38and feeling the energy
20:39kind of reinvigorating
20:40the fan base
20:41and building new fans,
20:42that kind of gives you
20:43a life within itself.
20:44And I'm just,
20:45I'm honestly just really excited
20:47to see like how it rolls out.
20:48And what my goal is,
20:50is to feel that fire again.
20:52I've been,
20:52I've been feeling like it
20:54in my,
20:54in my gut,
20:55like,
20:56you know,
20:56like the embers are starting
20:57and they're starting to burn.
20:58But I want to feel like
20:59that full fire of like,
21:01you know,
21:01like the love
21:02and like building the world.
21:03And I think it's going to take
21:04a lot of work
21:05and I'm ready for it.
21:07And even though I've done
21:09and been in this industry
21:10for,
21:10I don't know,
21:1113,
21:1114 years,
21:12for me,
21:13it's like,
21:13I just love what I do.
21:14And the fact that I could be here
21:15even talking to you,
21:17like still in the mix,
21:19that's a blessing for me.
21:20And I think everything happens
21:21for a reason.
21:22You know what I mean?
21:23Especially seeing like
21:24all the girls,
21:25like Zara,
21:26Ray,
21:27like Charlie,
21:28like the way that Sabrina,
21:29like the way that they're able to,
21:31you know,
21:31they,
21:32I remember doing all of the radio shows
21:34with Sabrina a while back
21:35and we were all like grinding.
21:37Like we were all grinding,
21:39doing what we could do.
21:41And that's,
21:41what I'm seeing with them
21:43is just a testament of
21:44you just never have to give up.
21:46And when the timing is right
21:47and it all connects,
21:49then it connects.
21:50So I'm going to just keep doing
21:52what I do
21:53and making the best music
21:55I can make,
21:55putting music I love out.
21:57And then the rest is up
21:59to the universe.
22:00Yay!
22:01I'm so happy for you.
22:02And I mean,
22:03you are here at the Hot 100 show.
22:04So since you're a songwriter,
22:05I do need to get your opinion.
22:06Like how do you feel
22:07about the charts right now?
22:08We got BTS Swim
22:09that's been in the top 10.
22:10Honestly, love.
22:11You're like done.
22:12Like love, love.
22:13And then you talk about
22:14women killing it.
22:15Great, great, great, great record.
22:17Let's talk about
22:18I was going to say
22:18Lividim or Ella Langley?
22:20Oh my God,
22:21Ella Langley.
22:21Both.
22:22Because Ella's been
22:23on the top of the charts
22:23forever right now.
22:24No, but I honestly saw
22:25an interview about her
22:26the other day
22:26and I'm obsessed with her.
22:28Like obsessed.
22:29Like she's so cute
22:29and all her songs are great.
22:30You know what I mean?
22:32I saw Olivia Dean
22:33at the Brit Awards
22:34and I was,
22:34I fell in love with her
22:35because I saw her everywhere
22:37and I loved her music.
22:37But then when I saw her live,
22:39just something about her
22:40is so likable.
22:41Like if somebody doesn't like
22:43were not to like her,
22:44I would think there was
22:45something wrong with that person.
22:46100% that.
22:47Like legit.
22:47I'm like,
22:48she's so sweet
22:49and I just think
22:50Zara,
22:51Pink Panther.
22:52Oh yes,
22:53Stateside.
22:53Like Stateside is a bop
22:54and then now they do
22:55Tyla and Zara
22:56and it's giving me
22:57like that whole
22:57Shakira Beyonce thing.
22:59Yeah.
22:59I'm obsessed.
23:00Oh, see I love this.
23:01The girls are killing it.
23:01The girls are killing it.
23:03I'm like, yeah.
23:04Well, let's see how
23:05they're doing on the chart.
23:06Let's check out
23:06numbers three to one.
23:08Bruno Mars is locked at three.
23:18While Choosing Texas
23:19is out of the number one spot.
23:21Drinking Jack all by myself.
23:25Cause Choosing Texas
23:26I can tell.
23:28So debuting
23:29with her fourth number one
23:31is Olivia Rodrigo
23:32with Drop Dead.
23:38And that is
23:39the Billboard Hot 100
23:41Top 3.
23:42New York,
23:42what are your thoughts?
23:44So this is Olivia Rodrigo's
23:45third album.
23:46All three lead singles
23:47from those albums
23:47have debuted at number one
23:48on the Hot 100.
23:49So we had
23:50Driver's License
23:51ahead of Sour.
23:51We had Vampire
23:52before Guts
23:53and now we've got
23:54Drop Dead from
23:55You Seem Pretty Sad
23:56for a girl
23:57so in love.
23:58Like she's the only person
23:59to debut
24:00their first three
24:01lead singles
24:02from their first three albums
24:02at number one.
24:03I think she was the only person
24:04who's done it
24:04twice even.
24:06Two albums
24:06and now she's done it
24:07three times.
24:08Like it's unbelievable.
24:10The hype is just
24:10always there.
24:11Yeah, it's really
24:12quite interesting to me.
24:15I think we were
24:15talking a little bit
24:16to start this chart
24:18conversation
24:18about the people
24:19who their journey
24:21took some time, right?
24:22They popped
24:23and then like
24:24they needed to
24:25kind of go back
24:26and recenter
24:27and then come back
24:28and well maybe
24:29I don't know
24:29there's some conversations
24:31that could be had
24:31about never changing
24:32but you know
24:33what I'm saying.
24:34It's interesting
24:35because that never
24:36happened to Olivia.
24:37Like quite literally
24:39never happened
24:40to her
24:41and I think
24:41that's wild.
24:42Yeah, Driver's License
24:43was just like
24:44it was a storm
24:45out of nowhere
24:45and it was so huge
24:47and then obviously
24:47got another one
24:48with the second single
24:49Good For You
24:49and it's just like
24:51it's never stopped.
24:52Every time she
24:52you know
24:53announces an album
24:54and releases a single
24:55all of the fans
24:55are there
24:56and everyone
24:57turns up for her.
24:58It's really amazing.
24:59Yeah, also should note
25:00I mean she's had
25:00those three number one
25:01debuts obviously
25:02has a fourth number one
25:03Good For You
25:04which also debuted
25:05at number one
25:05so even though
25:06it wasn't the lead single
25:06every time Olivia Rodrigo
25:08has had a number one hit
25:09it's been a song
25:10that has debuted
25:10at number one
25:11so that just goes to show
25:12you know
25:12how anticipated
25:13her albums are
25:14how big events
25:14they are for her
25:15and her fans
25:16and they really rally
25:17to make sure
25:17that these songs
25:18are supported
25:19you know
25:19whatever versions
25:20they're out there
25:21but really making sure
25:22that that machinery
25:22is turning
25:23and getting her
25:24to number one
25:24at a time
25:25when getting to number one
25:27is really hard
25:28I mean we have
25:29we have another
25:29runaway contender
25:30that's been up there
25:31for several weeks
25:32Olivia
25:32one of the only songs
25:34that's been able
25:34to take Ella Langley's
25:35Choose in Texas
25:36out of number one
25:37since it got there
25:38at the top of the year
25:39and it just you know
25:40when you're able
25:41to take out a song
25:42as massive as Choose in Texas
25:43you know you got a big hit
25:44but of course
25:45that already sets the stage
25:46up for week two
25:47two people wondering
25:47okay now we've got a new
25:49number one is Olivia
25:50going to be able to hang
25:51on or is the Ella Langley
25:52train just so strong
25:53that it feels like one
25:54of those things where
25:55you may get her for a
25:56minute but you will not
25:57get her for more than a
25:58week also with Bruno
26:00at number three too like
26:01that is like at number
26:02two and number three are
26:03both former number one
26:04songs heavy hitters
26:05these are heavy hitters
26:06with Bruno and Ella
26:07right now like the fact
26:08that Olivia was able to
26:09debut at number one
26:10ahead of both of those
26:11like man like that
26:13it's a very anticipated song
26:14like her fans really showed
26:15up and I think she's doing
26:17a really great job with
26:18this rollout I think
26:19sometimes we forget and I
26:20don't think that Olivia
26:21Rodrigo has ever approached
26:23her rollout lightly I think
26:25she's always had a really
26:26really strong approach and
26:27we're seeing that here now
26:28she was just at Pete's
26:29candy store in Brooklyn so
26:32she builds her momentum
26:34really really well I think
26:35it's something that like
26:36even some of the biggies do
26:38like the people who are you
26:39know like the Beavers and
26:41the Bruno Mars is and the
26:44Drake's and the the bigs
26:46of the world Olivia does
26:48that really really well
26:49she does that really strong
26:50so I'm not surprised to see
26:52this number one and I
26:53wouldn't be surprised if
26:54we're talking about her
26:55next week and the week
26:56after because she knows how
26:57to build a rollout I thought
26:59one cool thing she did too
27:00was the day I think the day
27:01after the song came out she
27:03performed it live with
27:04Addison Rae at Coachella
27:05too yeah yeah I think there's
27:06some overlap in those fan bases
27:07so I'm sure when Olivia came
27:09out all of the fans there
27:11were just went crazy and it
27:13was really special so I
27:14thought that was a very fun
27:15way to perform it for the
27:16first time and build some
27:18extra hype around it and show
27:20that she's back and she's in
27:21Texas I think at Stagecoach
27:23yeah we were just talking
27:25about her but she also is
27:26continuing to breathe more
27:29and more life into this
27:29Choose in Texas world her
27:31music video dropped about two
27:33or three weeks ago and that
27:37was something that everyone
27:38was waiting for and it did not
27:39disappoint and obviously we
27:41her performance at Stagecoach
27:44I think she brought Theo Vaughn
27:47she had some little really
27:49bright spots and bright moments
27:50so what she's been able to do
27:52with Choose in Texas is really
27:53really something special to watch
27:56I'm loving this Choose in Texas
27:58dance that we're doing on on the
28:00little I hate to be so cheesy but
28:03it's like a little do-si-do
28:04what are we gonna do?
28:04what are we gonna do?
28:04what are we gonna do?
28:05what are we gonna do?
28:06what are we gonna do?
28:06what are we gonna do?
28:07what are we gonna do?
28:07I can do a little some, some, some
28:08a little over time
28:09check our socials after
28:10just step from the studio
28:11exactly exactly but I am I'm a
28:14big Ella Langley fan I'm really
28:17excited to also see her at
28:19Billboard Women in Music
28:20we're gonna see her take the
28:22stage as well we just getting
28:24everybody hot it makes it makes
28:28sense and I am just a lucky girl
28:30because I get to watch these
28:31really really incredible
28:32performances and also be able to
28:34see that how it's connecting with
28:37people because the reason why it's
28:38connecting with people is because
28:39of the world that they're building
28:41so we'll get to see that at WIM
28:42and I'm really excited thank you
