00:00King Charles is here in New York today marking the first visit by a British monarch since his
00:04mother Queen Elizabeth stopped by back in 2010. The monarchs are visiting the 9-11 memorial before
00:09splitting up their duties so the king can visit an urban farm and the queen can celebrate the
00:13100th birthday of Winnie the Pooh. I genuinely want to know who's responsible for their schedules
00:19because I have a few questions. The king and queen will also attend a reception here in town
00:24honoring the organization The King's Trust, which helps young adults build confidence,
00:29get a job, or start a business. On Tuesday, President Trump pulled out all the stops to
00:34welcome King Charles and Queen Camilla in an official ceremony at the White House and fed it with a
00:39fabulous state dinner. In between, though, the king pushed back ever so gently on some of the
00:45president's disagreements with the UK and other allies. Here's King Charles addressing Congress
00:49on Tuesday afternoon. I pray with all my heart that our alliance will continue to defend our shared
00:57values with our partners in Europe and the Commonwealth and across the world and that we
01:03ignore the clarion calls to become ever more inward-looking. As for the rest of their trip,
01:08after New York City, the royals will head back to the nation's capital to pay a visit to Arlington
01:12National Cemetery and will then stop by what is being described as a block party celebrating
01:17America's 250th birthday, otherwise known as the 250th anniversary of our messy breakup with England.
01:24The king and queen will depart the U.S. and stop in Bermuda on the way home to the U
01:28.K.,
01:28not for a vacation, mind you. The island nation is one of Britain's overseas territories.
01:33Dr. Anthony Fauci has a pardon in his pocket protecting him from federal prosecution,
01:38but his former senior advisor does not. The Justice Department has officially indicted that advisor,
01:44David Morens, for allegedly concealing records from investigations into the origins of the COVID-19
01:49pandemic. Morens and two unnamed accomplices allegedly, quote, concealed, removed, destroyed,
01:54and caused the concealment and removal of federal records. The DOJ believes all of this cloak and
02:00dagger business around the records was done in order to evade both the Freedom of Information Act and
02:05Federal Records Act. Morens served as a senior advisor to Fauci from 2006 to 2022, the end of his
02:12tenure, of course, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, as I said, Dr. Fauci has a literal
02:18get-out-of-jail-free card, a pardon that blocks him from federal prosecution. But could Morens' issues
02:24somehow become Fauci's issues, even with that pardon in hand? To help me answer that and more,
02:30I'm joined by the Post's D.C. Bureau Chief, Josh Christensen. Josh, does Morens' indictment signal
02:36that Anthony Fauci may not be totally out of legal trouble despite that pardon? The reason that
02:42Fauci is of particular importance when you read through the indictment is that Morens was a senior
02:47advisor to Fauci for almost 20 years from around 2006 to 2022 when Fauci left. And many of the
02:56emails that are cited in the indictment and were previously the subject of a congressional inquiry
03:00show that he was, on behalf of Fauci, operating what he called a, quote, secret back channel. And this
03:07was all part of an effort to get these grants refunded that could look into bat coronavirus research.
03:15And millions of taxpayer dollars eventually found their way to what we now know as the infamous
03:21Wuhan Institute of Virology, the epicenter of the lab leak theory for the COVID pandemic.
03:28Now, there was another high-profile charge released by the DOJ on Tuesday,
03:32a fresh indictment of former FBI Director James Comey. I feel like we've been here before.
03:37Now, what are these new charges and how does it all differ from the ones that were dropped just
03:41earlier this year?
03:43They're very different and they come after a recent assassination attempt against President Trump.
03:50These charges, which were unsealed, show that Comey was indicted by a grand jury in North Carolina
03:57for allegedly threatening to kill President Trump.
03:59This was an Instagram post that he made in May of 2025 when he arranged seashells on a beach
04:07that's had the letters 80s or not the letters, the numbers 86, 47, 86 being slang for getting rid of
04:15something, 47 being the numbers that we identify President Trump by.
04:19Yeah. Anyone who's worked at a restaurant knows what 86 means. But 86, 47 shells.
04:25This feels wild to me. He's former FBI Director. Am I thinking this seems crazy and it's not?
04:33It's something that, you know, acting attorney Todd Blanche in this press conference he gave
04:39Tuesday was saying that the Justice Department is always going to take threats against the
04:44commander in chief seriously. He noted a recent indictment against somebody who threatened
04:50President Biden, somebody else who threatened even other administration officials like Tom
04:55Homan, the border czar. And it's something that since he's taken over, he's been very serious about
05:02bringing charges against people who are going to make violent threats against their political
05:07opponents.
05:08And mind you, this is a president that has had multiple attempts on his life, but you just mentioned
05:12the acting attorney general, Todd Blanche. And I want to ask you about him. What do these
05:18indictments tell us about the DOJ under Todd Blanche? Is it fair to say this is his audition,
05:25for lack of a better word, to get the gig permanently?
05:29He's certainly doing a lot of press conferences and he has a very kind of combative style when he
05:36comes up and he does these. He's frequently correcting reporters about the legal process for the cases
05:43they're asking questions about. In today's press conference, for instance, he noted that we didn't
05:48send an arrest warrant. The grand jury sent an arrest warrant for James Comey. And he's talking about the
05:54different procedures that were happening. He's also very brief with any kind of discussion about
06:01details in the investigation until it actually goes into a courtroom. And so he's definitely auditioning in
06:08some sense in that he's getting out there. He's getting in front of the cameras. He's fielding a lot
06:11of questions. And a lot of the cases that are being brought out are things that would accord with
06:18requests Trump has made that the Justice Department would do, such as prosecuting people like Comey.
06:23So it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes down. Josh, thank you so much.
06:28Thanks for having me.
06:30The FBI raided more than 20 child care centers in Minnesota on Tuesday. It's part of the wide-ranging
06:36federal investigation to root out fraud from U.S. social services. Governor Tim Walz, who previously
06:41referred to the fraud investigation as, quote, white supremacy, struck a more supportive tone
06:46on Tuesday, writing, quote, if you commit fraud in Minnesota, you're going to get caught. And that's
06:51exactly what we saw today. Tuesday's raids included Quality Learning Center, a Minneapolis daycare that
06:58misspelled the word learning in its signage. The not-exactly-high-quality learning center
07:04collected a staggering 95 violations from the State Human Services Agency between 2019 and 2023.
07:10The latest fraud investigations were launched during February's State of the Union address,
07:15after which President Trump asked Veep J.D. Vance to lead a task force on it. The Trump
07:20administration estimates fraud in the state of Minnesota alone to be about 19 billion bucks.
