00:04Well, I read the first book that I read of García Várquez,
00:08and it was 100 Años de Soledad,
00:10it was in the time of the franquism,
00:15and then a friend of mine had to escape from Madrid,
00:19he had to go to France,
00:20he was persecuted by the police,
00:21and he left a box with his books,
00:24and on the books was 100 Años de Soledad,
00:26of an author that I had never heard of.
00:29Well, I took the book, started reading it,
00:34and from there, I read almost all the books of García Várquez.
00:39I think that it's not a part of the author,
00:41it's an author of an originality, it's a self-love.
00:47In literature, it's always very appreciated,
00:51it's a self-love, very different,
00:53very different, very imitated later,
00:55but he introduced a voice,
00:58a voice, a way of narrating,
01:02and, also, he was that,
01:04he was a sculptor extraordinaire,
01:08his books, his stories, his brief stories,
01:13they trap the reader,
01:16it's the same thing that you think,
01:18you think, you think, you know,
01:20you always get caught up in it.
01:24He's always one of those authors
01:26who, once you know him,
01:28he's forgets.
01:30Then there are others that you like,
01:31others that you like, others that you like,
01:32but this, García Várquez,
01:33you won't forget him.
