00:59We can make diamonds, yes.
01:05Lab-grown diamonds are the same as earthmine diamonds.
01:22Diamonds were never precious.
01:31When you're born in this business, you're going to be in this business.
01:35This is exactly what my grandfather told me when I was in my 20s.
01:43The rarity of diamonds was a myth.
02:30As far as manmade diamond production, that technology has actually existed since probably the 1950s or 1960s.
02:45But about four or five years ago, we started to see advancements in technology that allowed for production of gem
02:52-quality diamonds that are manmade and high enough quality to be used in jewelry.
02:58We take a slice of an altercreated diamond, and it's arranged in a proprietary chamber.
03:04You arrange those seeds almost like a waffle, and you close the chamber.
03:10You raise the temperature inside while pumping a combination of propriety gases.
03:15When the temperature is in the mid-13 to 1500 degrees centigrade, methane splits, and the pure carbon that is
03:25separated starts bonding.
03:27This bonded carbon starts connecting with the seed that's sitting at the bottom of the chamber, and diamond grows layer
03:36by layer.
03:40Every other girl has one.
03:58You can only cut a diamond with a diamond.
04:27You can only take some extra
04:31Is it better than silicon? Anything of the week.
04:34Well, was it affordable 10 years or 20 years ago? No.
04:40These higher tech applications represent a very, very small part of the industry at this point.
04:47We still could be decades away, but I think we're going to see Diamond used in a lot more of
04:54the products that we use on an everyday basis.
04:57And let's not forget, we're no longer needing to mind.
