01:27Шампенни, defender flies by, gives it up, Castle's 3, no good.
01:34Still plenty of time for Portland, but just 5-25 from 3.
01:39They need this one here from Grant, and they get it.
01:48Here's 12 out of Syracuse for Jeremy Grant.
01:57And they sag off of Castle, now Holliday goes to greet him at the three-point line.
02:01Johnson going baseline, round the defender.
02:04Shot clock down to 3.
02:06Castle kicks it out.
02:09Harper got it away in time, and it goes to 3.
02:16He's got 12 on a very efficient 5-for-6 shoot at Harper.
02:21He and Castle have combined for 27, an 11-of-16 shooting.
02:27Grant's 3, no good that time.
02:30And Klingon and Castle, college teammates battle for the loose ball, out of bounds to the Spurs.
02:35Sometimes you catch a grenade late in the shot clock.
02:38Dylan Harper does not have a lot of time.
02:40He's got to not only get himself behind the line, but get himself on balance.
02:45Jeremy Grant decides he's going to try to go to the cup,
02:48and Mr. Wimanyama gets block number 4.
02:52This is why you think and think again about whether or not you want to go in there.
03:01Pedestrian numbers if you look at what he's done so far in the series
03:04with each game better than the next.
03:08And things we just rarely see in the history of the NBA,
03:12what he's been able to do so far in the postseason.
03:16And his debut, he had 35-21 in the first half.
03:19That was an NBA playoff record for a debut.
03:22And then his first road game of his playoff career was remarkable
03:28with 27, 12 rebounds, 7 blocks, 4 steals.
03:36San Antonio trying to get some rest, close out the Blazers tonight,
03:39see what happens in the Denver-Minnesota series on Thursday
03:42as the Nuggets look to even that series, go back home for game 7.
03:48He hasn't had to dominate or hunt shots tonight
03:52because we've seen him show a level of aggression he has not tonight.
03:57But think about it.
03:58You've got three double-digit scorers,
04:00another four or five guys with a minimum of five points.
04:04We went into half with one double-digit scorer,
04:07and they had 65 on the board.
04:10He hasn't needed to be assertive, looking for his own.
04:14He's played good defense, rebound.
04:17Kept alive underneath, last touch by Portland.
04:21And Drew Holiday trying to get the bench to look at it and challenge.
04:24They can't get Tiago's attention.
04:27And Denny Obdi is actually, along with Tiago's splitter,
04:31very upset at the scores table.
04:32I think it's why Mark Davis just blew the whistle
04:35because they, I wonder if splitter tried to get it in
04:40and wasn't getting acknowledged by the officials.
04:45And now he's saying, can I challenge it?
04:48They're going to let him.
04:53I don't know if Obdi was going to come into the game,
04:55and that's why he was at the scores table
04:57and then was upset that they did not allow them to get the challenge.
05:00It felt to me like the bench was trying to get Tiago's attention
05:03to challenge it.
05:08So it is a coach's challenge with 531 to go in the third quarter.
05:14Ruling on the floor is off of Holiday.
05:22Welcome back to the NBA Playoffs,
05:24presented by Google in San Antonio
05:26for the first round, presented by Popeyes.
05:28A doubleheader game six this Thursday night on ESPN.
05:31The Hawks and the Knicks from Atlanta
05:33with New York up three games to two.
05:35Can Denver, against a depleted Wolves team,
05:37even that series at three apiece?
05:40That's at 930 Eastern.
05:42Ruling on the floor has been overturned to a jump ball,
05:46they say, simultaneous.
05:49So it's a successful challenge,
05:52simultaneously touched out of bounds by both guys.
06:0076-55 the score,
06:02five and a half to go in the third quarter.
06:03The Spurs looking to eliminate Portland tonight,
06:06win the series at five,
06:08and then await the Denver, Minnesota winner.
06:14Wolves will not have Anthony Edwards,
06:16obviously Dante DiVincenzo out as well
06:18for the game six against Denver
06:20in the Twin Cities Thursday.
06:22Holiday going baseline,
06:24weaving through traffic,
06:25tries to force it underneath,
06:27and it was kicked by San Antonio.
06:30Look at Luke Cornett.
06:32Get down in a stance
06:33and contend with Drew Holiday.
06:35Never let him get a great angle
06:37to make that pass.
06:41Just watch.
06:43I mean, he's got to deal with Drew.
06:45He's got to stay tagged on him
06:47and just trying to take away any vision
06:50to get it to the mismatch.
06:52A really underrated pickup
06:54by San Antonio coming from Boston.
06:56Helped them win a championship.
06:58He fouls Grant there.
07:00That looked like the right call from Rhea Costa.
07:02There was clear contact.
07:07At least that's what you thought so.
07:09I didn't.
07:10I did not.
07:11I thought.
07:15I mean, oh.
07:18Okay, he's not moving.
07:20Their feet get tangled.
07:22Shows a trip.
07:22Yeah.
07:23Third foul.
07:26On Cornett.
07:27Penalty situation for the next five minutes
07:29for Portland.
07:30So if they can hit some free throws,
07:32at least get to the line,
07:33something they haven't really done.
07:34They're just four or five at the line.
07:36Chance to still chip away here.
07:43That was a 41-second possession.
07:55Fox going to get it.
07:57Cornett setting the screen.
07:59Obdi retreats.
08:00So Fox splits the double,
08:02gets deep in the lane,
08:02puts it up.
08:04He's fouled.
08:09Just five points,
08:11but eight assists for De'Aaron Fox.
08:12We were talking with Mitch Johnson
08:14before the game as I think he took a shot
08:15to the head there accidentally.
08:17You know, Mitch was an assistant coach
08:19here for a number of years,
08:20so a lot of the young guys he worked with
08:21prior to getting the head coaching job,
08:23but he said the last
08:26year and a half of getting to know De'Aaron Fox
08:28and how closely aligned they are in terms of how they see the game.
08:32He said it's been really a great blessing.
08:35He's dealing with an adult 27 years old.
08:39He was Keldon Johnson's development coach.
08:42And obviously you're coaching very young guys in Harper
08:45and Stephon.
08:49That trade to bring Fox to pair him with all the young guys
08:53has ended up paying big dividends.
08:55Obviously, we'll see how far the Spurs go in the playoffs,
08:57but if they win the night,
09:00they'll have gone further than any Spurs team since 2017.
09:03A turnover here by San Antonio
09:05or by Portland, rather.
09:10As Holiday picks up the foul, his third.
09:14So at the end of that drive,
09:16Holiday, I think, just hooks him a little bit.
09:18He's trying to get past.
09:21So, let me see.
09:26It was an 11-point lead or 12-point lead
09:29after the first quarter, 20 at halftime
09:31as Cornette gets the backside board
09:33but lost the handle, gets on the floor and tied up.
09:37They're going to say it was out of bounds
09:40off of Portland.
09:44Five on the shot clock.
09:45When are you going to come in?
09:46Nice little target to have
09:48and then underneath out of bounds.
09:51Here comes the lob
09:53or at least a lob threat at the rim.
10:01He's only played 19 minutes tonight.
10:05That's one way to keep him from getting a lob,
10:07just knock him down,
10:08which Williams did, makes a nice steal.
10:11Grant
10:12and Wemenyama gets the deflection
10:15and tried to save it but stepped out.
10:18Boy, what's the fan thinking
10:19when he comes at you
10:20looking like he's going to type
10:22and try to save it?
10:23He just gets a hand on the ball
10:25then, like, the ability
10:27at that size
10:28to change directions.
10:31She can't believe it.
10:32That's too great.
10:34Like, the young man was more worried
10:35about getting his beer knocked over
10:36than anything else.
10:40Oh, they don't see the kick there,
10:41I think.
10:42So, no reset.
10:43No dead ball, obviously.
10:46Another deflection.
10:46It somehow ends up
10:48in Holiday's hands
10:49who gets it out to Kamara.
10:50Boy, nobody can put it
10:51in the bucket here
10:52in the second half.
10:5312 points for each team
10:54in the third quarter.
10:56The cell misses again.
10:57Rebound Harper back up.
10:59No.
11:00Boy, it looks like a foul.
11:01I absolutely thought he got fouled.
11:06Some opportunities for the Blazers.
11:08Oh, how about the put down
11:09by Williams on the reverse
11:11with Webin-Yama challenging.
11:13Fassel fouled by Grant
11:14on the other end.
11:21His presence.
11:23I don't know that numbers do justice
11:26because his ability to
11:28make you try to become a passer.
11:30He gets a block on the pass there.
11:35And then Williams able
11:36to finish around him.
11:38Robert Williams has had
11:39a really good series.
11:4011 points, 5 rebounds.
11:42The guy that's had
11:43some serious injuries.
11:45He played 59 games this year
11:47after 26 the previous
11:48two years combined.
11:50He played well
11:51for the most part in Boston.
11:52He did.
11:53He did.
11:55Think about game 4.
11:56He played 26 minutes
11:57to Klingens 14.
11:58Now, that's reversed here.
12:01We asked Coach,
12:03would he think about
12:03starting Robert Williams?
12:05But again, you referenced it.
12:07He wants the threat,
12:09even though it's been
12:10a struggle for Klingen,
12:11he wants the threat
12:12of that shooting bid.
12:15Williams has actually shot it
12:16better from 3 in the series
12:18than Klingens.
12:193 for 8.
12:22Klingen 0 for 3 tonight
12:24and 3 for 21
12:25in the series
12:26from behind the arc.
12:283-minute mark here
12:29in the third.
12:30It's still a 20-point game.
12:32Grant into the lane,
12:33falls away.
12:35And Wembenyama
12:36with his 8th rebound.
12:38He'll bring it up the floor.
12:39Fox hangs
12:41and puts it in.
12:47Blazers come right
12:48back down court
12:49and a foul
12:50that will send Grant
12:51to the line.
12:53So what does it look
12:54and feel like?
12:55We asked Denny Obdia
12:56that question.
12:58Grant's going to take him on.
13:00Just watch the wingspan.
13:02One hand up to challenge.
13:04He's actually,
13:04look at him.
13:05He's trying to
13:07get his hand
13:08in the face of the guy
13:09with the ball.
13:09So impede his vision
13:11both as a shooter
13:12and a passer.
13:14The wingspan is ridiculous.
13:18When you're growing up,
13:20didn't they say,
13:20ball you man?
13:21Yes.
13:21With one of these,
13:22it's ball you men
13:22because he can cover
13:23so much ground
13:25on defense.
13:26And what do you do
13:27if you're
13:29the guy with the ball
13:30in his hands?
13:30Why do we call him
13:31the alien?
13:32Look at the size
13:33of the hand.
13:39When we're done,
13:40Ernie, Kenny,
13:40Charles, and Shaq
13:41will be back
13:42on Inside the NBA
13:43to talk about
13:45Billy's win on the road,
13:46what the Knicks did tonight
13:47and also this game
13:48here in San Antonio.
13:52The lead is 21
13:53for the Spurs.
13:54Denny Obdia
13:55has 18 points
13:56for the Blazers,
13:57but he scored
13:58on the first possession
13:59of the quarter
13:59and has not scored since.
14:01Meanwhile,
14:02San Antonio
14:03with just tremendous
14:03balance scoring,
14:05Champagny 16,
14:06Castle 15,
14:07Harper 12 off the bench.
14:09Shooting 58%
14:11and 44% from three.
14:32Fox drives past
14:34Williams lost the handle
14:35but saves it
14:36to Johnson
14:36in the corner.
14:39Shot clock down
14:40to five.
14:42Vassell puts it
14:43on the floor,
14:44timer at two,
14:45turns, fires,
14:47front rimmed it,
14:48offensive rebound,
14:49Castle.
14:51Wembenyama
14:51thought about the three,
14:52spins,
14:53hangs,
14:54got it,
14:55and one.
15:12What do I got to do
15:13to get a big time
15:14reaction?
15:15The spin,
15:16the contact
15:16off the window.
15:19Pops is like,
15:20this is ho-hum.
15:21Have you not seen my son?
15:23He's number one.
15:25Look out.
15:27MVP chance
15:28and look,
15:29it's not out of the realm
15:31of possibility.
15:32He is a finalist.
15:34The winner will be
15:35announced soon.
15:36Sheik Gojus Alexander,
15:38the presumed favorite,
15:39the reigning MVP,
15:40but if Wembenyama
15:41doesn't win it this year,
15:43he's going to be in the mix
15:44for a long time.
15:45Oh, yeah.
15:53He's got ten points,
15:55eight rebounds,
15:56and four blocks.
15:59Jump shot goes,
16:00but with two minutes to go,
16:02it's 84-63.
16:19Johnson botting with Abdiah,
16:21can't get it the first time
16:23or the second
16:23or the third,
16:24bat it out to Williams.
16:26You saw that exact matchup
16:28in the first half,
16:30and Johnson won it,
16:31scored a tough two,
16:32couldn't get that one.
16:34Holidays three,
16:35no good,
16:35and Sissoko pushes Wembenyama,
16:40and those guys are old friends,
16:42both from France.
16:46And so Wembenyama
16:47will shoot free throws
16:48on the other end.
16:49Drew Holiday just won
16:50for 12 in this game.
16:52Do you think they're
16:53speaking French there?
16:57Would imagine.
17:00It's the language of trash talk.
17:02It's universal.
17:06Crosses all language barriers.
17:10Second free throw attempt
17:12for Wembenyama tonight.
17:16He's 22 years old,
17:19third NBA season.
17:23I can't get over
17:24how smooth the rotation
17:27of the ball is
17:29off the fingertips
17:30here at the free throw line.
17:31Just watch how pretty this is.
17:40So I know it's a different era,
17:42clearly,
17:43but in 374 career playoff games,
17:47Tim Duncan and David Robinson
17:48hit a combined six threes.
17:50Wembenyama in four career playoff games
17:52has made seven.
17:53Wow.
17:53Again, it's a different era,
17:55but totally different area.
17:56Yeah.
17:57The shooting stroke
17:58is what you touched on,
18:00and it was there
18:02before he even got
18:04to San Antonio,
18:04but it has been developed
18:06through tremendous hard work.
18:12Theibel's three off target.
18:15Abdiah,
18:15another pass attempt
18:16batted by Wembenyama,
18:18but kept alive for Williams.
18:20And off the heel.
18:22Here's Kraychee,
18:23who hit a long two,
18:24and now missed a three.
18:26Wembenyama gets his ninth rebound,
18:27but gives it away,
18:28and Theibel with a left.
18:33Technical foul.
18:35Just have to lay a game.
18:37Oh, fixing the clock.
18:38Yep.
18:4057 seconds remaining
18:41in the third quarter.
18:47Here's Castle.
18:48He's got 15 points on the night.
18:51His first postseason
18:53experience,
18:54second-year player
18:55out of Connecticut,
18:56helped him win a title,
18:57and won Rookie of the Year
18:58last year with San Antonio.
19:01Working on Williams,
19:02who forces a turnover.
19:20Abdiah got rid of Castle
19:21with the body,
19:22missed the shot,
19:24and Wembenyama
19:25with his tenth board.
19:29Nine-second difference
19:30in the game
19:30in shot clocks
19:31here at the end
19:31of the third quarter
19:32with the Spurs
19:33leading the series
19:33three games to one,
19:34awaiting the winner
19:35of Minnesota-Denver.
19:363-2 Wolves
19:37in that series.
19:39Castle rocking it,
19:40now driving
19:41on the baseline,
19:43falling away,
19:43no.
19:44Kraychee rebounds,
19:45final seconds
19:46of the third.
19:51They'll blitz Abdiah,
19:53and Robert Williams
19:54is still in the backcourt,
19:55now comes back
19:56into the picture,
19:57did not get it away
19:58in time.
20:02So Victor Wembenyama,
20:05this guy on the spin move,
20:08takes the contact,
20:10going to give us
20:11a little bit of a smile.
20:13We need a poster
20:14of this young man.
20:15Give me the alien
20:16on a poster.
20:20Come back to the NBA
20:22first round
20:22presented by Popeyes.
20:24The Spurs with a 21-point lead
20:26as we head to the
20:26fourth quarter.
20:27We asked Spurs
20:28head coach Mitch Johnson
20:30earlier today
20:30what it's like
20:31coaching this young,
20:32talented group.
20:33He told us
20:34he has a tough line
20:35to toe
20:35in making this group
20:37understand
20:38they need to execute
20:39the fundamentals
20:40on both sides
20:40of the ball.
20:41He says when they do that,
20:42they're as good as anyone
20:43in the league
20:44in a given game.
20:45The other side
20:46of that coin is, though,
20:48their personality
20:48exudes confidence
20:49that borders on arrogance,
20:51really.
20:51And that edge
20:52is also something
20:53he feels they need
20:54to reach
20:55for the heights
20:55that they need to reach
20:56as they expect
20:57as a franchise,
20:58which is a championship,
20:59of course.
21:00First world problems
21:01for the Spurs
21:02and this young coach
21:02there, David D.B.
21:03There's no question
21:04in terms of focus
21:06and preparation,
21:08this is new
21:09for a lot of these guys,
21:10but look,
21:10they got down
21:11by double figures
21:11the last three games
21:12in the second half
21:13and had to fight
21:14back one,
21:15two of those.
21:16Webinyama was holding
21:17his tailbone
21:17after he got knocked
21:18to the ground,
21:19by the way,
21:19but it seems to be
21:20all right.
21:20And it's Johnson
21:21keeping him in the game.
21:24What great player
21:25in this league,
21:26you know,
21:27doesn't have
21:28that fearlessness,
21:30that arrogance
21:32will contact out front
21:33on De'Aaron Fox?
21:35Like,
21:36you have to have it
21:37if you're going
21:38to be great.
21:43Johnson told us
21:44the mood
21:45is always really
21:45lighthearted
21:46around the team
21:47and again,
21:49Oklahoma City
21:50kind of has
21:50the same demeanor
21:51but both teams
21:52when it comes
21:54to taking care
21:55of business,
21:55they've been able
21:56to do that
21:56despite their youth.
21:59Raychee
22:00gives it up
22:01to Sissoko.
22:02It knocks down
22:03a three.
22:03I thought his foot
22:04looked like it was
22:05close to the line
22:06on that.
22:1286-68.
22:14Wembenyama
22:15has it knocked away.
22:17Raychee
22:17in the open floor
22:18waiting for some help.
22:23About six minutes
22:24of continued
22:25great play here
22:26to make sure
22:27Portland thinks
22:28it's done.
22:30See,
22:30Klingon wants
22:31no part of
22:31shooting shots
22:32anymore from three.
22:33and Theibel
22:34really struggling
22:350 for 5 now
22:36from three-point range.
22:37They are 7 of 35
22:39as a team.
22:45Pierre and Fox
22:46now with 10 points.
22:49The fifth
22:49spurred double figures.
22:54Ten and a half
22:55minutes away
22:56from moving on
22:56to the conference
22:57semifinals
22:58to face either
22:58Denver or Minnesota
23:00as Klingon drills
23:01a three.
23:03San Antonio
23:03San Antonio
23:04went one and three
23:05against Denver
23:06during the regular season.
23:07Now,
23:07one of those losses
23:08was the last game
23:09of the year.
23:09Wembenyama didn't play.
23:11But the fact
23:12that over the final
23:1334 regular season games,
23:15San Antonio
23:15went 30 and four
23:17and three of those losses
23:18were against Denver.
23:19They also went one and two
23:20against Minnesota
23:22as Harper gets two.
23:24And the Wolves
23:24currently lead the Nuggets
23:253-2,
23:26but it will be interesting
23:27with the Minnesota injuries.
23:28What happens going forward?
23:32Obdiah fouled by Fox.
23:34Obdiah didn't like it.
23:36He gets up,
23:37Klingon his teammate.
23:38Trying to keep him
23:39from going after Fox.
23:42And now Obdiah
23:44trying to plead his case
23:46to Mark Davis,
23:46the crew chief.
24:01the official signal for a
24:03technical.
24:06It's going to be
24:07obvious that gets the tee.
24:17So Fox,
24:18I think he objects
24:19to Fox's extension
24:21of the arm
24:21and the glare
24:22at him after it.
24:24And he,
24:25Obdiah thinks
24:26that that play
24:28sort of rose to the level.
24:30My guess is he thinks
24:31that that play by Fox
24:32sort of rose to the level
24:34of something more
24:35maybe than a,
24:36just a personal foul.
24:39Just,
24:39just watch the end of this.
24:42So it's the extension
24:44and that glare
24:46initially
24:47I think this is just
24:48a personal foul.
24:51Obdiah hit his head
24:52hard on the deck too.
24:53You wonder
24:53if he's reacting
24:55too after that.
24:57But,
24:57so you remember
24:58the play last game
24:59with Stephon Castle
25:00putting the ball
25:01in his chest.
25:02He called it disrespectful.
25:04Both guys got teed up
25:05for it.
25:10And Rhea Costa
25:11I think was looking
25:11at Mark Davis.
25:12Do we,
25:12do we give him the tee?
25:13Yeah.
25:15And they did.
25:16Now he hits
25:16the free throws
25:17for the personal foul
25:18on Fox.
25:19It's 91-73.
25:2618 points for Obdiah
25:28and an over and back
25:30violation.
25:348-second violation
25:36on San Antonio.
25:41They got some careless
25:41turnovers here.
25:42It's a little
25:43human nature, right?
25:45You've been up for so long
25:46by 20-plus.
25:50There's still a lot of time
25:51although Obdiah turns it over
25:53dribbling it off his foot.
25:54Theibel knocks it away
25:55from Harper out of bounds.
25:56We'll stay with the Spurs.
26:00San Antonio has had some
26:01moments here in the second
26:02half where they've given
26:04opportunity for Portland to
26:06make a run.
26:07The Blazers just haven't been
26:09able to do it.
26:12Either missing threes or
26:13turning the ball over.
26:21He's got the Jackals.
26:22Those are the
26:24section of the
26:25Frostbank Center fan base
26:27going nuts as Shams
26:28Petty's shot almost hit the
26:29shot clock.
26:30Klingin rips it away from
26:31Harper.
26:33Klingin just got up so high.
26:37Klingin launches.
26:38That's good.
26:39There he is.
26:40You know, it's taken him
26:41all series to find it.
26:44But breathing a little bit
26:45of life into his team.
26:46A couple of threes now.
26:48That will change a little bit
26:50the level of Wembing having
26:52to get a little bit further
26:53away from the paint.
26:54You see De'Aaron with the
26:55challenge.
27:00NBA first round is
27:02presented by Popeyes.
27:03Love that chicken from
27:05Popeyes.
27:07Tonight's chill performance
27:09brought to you by Coors
27:10Light.
27:11So, Donovan Klingin has
27:14finally started to make a
27:16couple of threes.
27:17It had been such a bad
27:19stretch he stopped looking
27:21at it.
27:22So, ain't nobody going to
27:25come rescue them but
27:26themselves.
27:27Shaka Khan in the house.
27:30And I'll say this about
27:31Portland.
27:32They have stayed a very
27:34physical defensive basketball
27:36team throughout the course
27:38of this matchup.
27:39They don't, I don't think
27:40they have enough shooting
27:41and their offense can
27:43struggle if they're not
27:44in transition but they have
27:45fought in this one.
27:47And that's a credit to
27:48obviously the players but
27:50also Tiago Splitter.
27:51The interim head coach might
27:52be his last game.
27:54He told us before the game as
27:56Portland has the ball that
27:57he has been told nothing
27:58about his future.
28:00He does feel like he will get
28:02an interview and be in the
28:03mix for the head coaching
28:03job but acknowledges that
28:04others are being talked to as
28:06well.
28:09So, it's a huge possession
28:10here.
28:12Brachie gives it up.
28:13Kamara wide open and can't
28:16get it.
28:16A foul underneath those Klingin
28:18gets pushed.
28:20Speaking of Tiago Splitter,
28:22here he is miked up tonight.
28:26Keep fighting.
28:27Keep fighting.
28:28Momentum's gonna come.
28:29Come on.
28:30Keep fighting.
28:30All we need is a couple of
28:31shots to go in.
28:32Be good.
28:33We're in the game again.
28:34Okay.
28:36What a championship as a
28:38player with the Spurs 12 years
28:39ago.
28:40Career cut short because of hip
28:42injuries.
28:44But a bright young coach in the
28:46NBA.
28:46Holiday for three.
28:47Got it.
28:48Drew Holiday with his first
28:49three of the game.
28:50He was one for 12 before that
28:53shot.
28:53It's a 12-point game.
28:55They have now made 10-3s so
28:57they have matched the Spurs
28:58from that.
28:59Listen, the Spurs intensity
29:01hasn't been the same.
29:02A little bit of focus.
29:03A little bit of drift because
29:05you've been up so much for so
29:07long.
29:07Of course, they have more
29:08turnovers than baskets this
29:09half.
29:10Cox misses the bank.
29:12Rebound Kamara.
29:13A chance to get it to 10,
29:15maybe 9.
29:16And he got two guys on the
29:18floor.
29:19Krejci and Sissoko have only
29:21played a combined four minutes
29:23in this series prior to
29:24tonight.
29:26Sissoko will try the three.
29:28It's good.
29:29It's a nine-point game.
29:30The Blazers aren't done yet.
29:32We've got eight minutes to go.
29:35They were down by 28 at one
29:38point this half.
29:39Today, about four minutes ago,
29:40you said the three ball could
29:41change things.
29:43All of a sudden, shots starting
29:44to fall for Portland.
29:46Drew Holiday matched up against
29:47the big, not taking him inside.
29:49I'm going to take the three.
29:51And then this young man played
29:53hard all night.
29:54Now gets him closer.
29:58After becoming the third team in
30:00the last 20 years to lose
30:01consecutive home playoff games
30:02when leading by 15 or more,
30:04games three and four, this team
30:06could have easily quit.
30:07but they have bounced back down
30:1028 at one point, now trailing
30:12only by nine.
30:13The last time it was in single
30:15digits was with four minutes to go
30:16in the first quarter.
30:18Feels like San Antonio lost not
30:20only their edge, but any momentum
30:22they had.
30:23Crowd trying to get into it here.
30:26Since that technical by Abdi,
30:28they've outscored San Antonio
30:29nine-nothing.
30:32And Splitter's going to keep
30:33Brachy and Sissoko, two guys
30:36that were out of the rotation,
30:38on the floor.
30:39Shot clock inside at 10.
30:42When Minyama back in the game,
30:43timer down to four.
30:45Vassell fires and gets it
30:48from 15 feet.
30:50Well, he's got a knack
30:51for timely buckets, that guy.
30:56Ten points for Vassell.
30:59The sixth Spur in double figures
31:01tonight.
31:01Portland has three.
31:03Klingens hit a couple threes,
31:05he'll try it again.
31:06Not that time.
31:07The tip won't go either by Sissoko.
31:12Spurs trying to close out Portland.
31:14What a no-look pass by Castle
31:17and finish from Winminyama.
31:19Four quick points out of the timeout,
31:21the lead back to 13.
31:24Great, he'll rise up
31:26over Winminyama, off the heel.
31:28That hit Castle last,
31:30and Vassell trying to save it
31:31and gets a timeout call.
31:34How about the hustle?
31:35Vassell, dead sprint.
31:39Wow.
31:43Let's watch Victor Winminyama
31:45running the floor.
31:47Another little Area 51 connection.
31:50Great little time by Stefan Castle.
31:52Sir, we see ya.
31:56Game fives tomorrow on ESPN at 7.30.
31:59It is Toronto and Cleveland.
32:00That series tied at two apiece.
32:01Can the Lakers close out Houston?
32:04And the second game of our doubleheader
32:06at 10 Eastern,
32:06it all starts at NBA tip-off at 6.30.
32:10Portland trying to force a game six
32:12pass back at home.
32:15You bring, sorry,
32:16if you bring Obvia back in here,
32:19gotta make another push.
32:23Down 13,
32:24as that was kicked by Kamara.
32:28Not ruled a kick, though.
32:29I guess they're saying it just was
32:31incidentally off his leg.
32:33So the shot clock clocked at 12.
32:35Now they're saying it is a kick,
32:36so it just adds two seconds to the
32:37shot clock, put it at 14.
32:44So after Portland cut it to nine,
32:46back-to-back buckets by the Spurs,
32:49to regain a 13-point advantage.
32:58Again, they back off of Castle.
33:00Here's Keldon Johnson,
33:01the sixth man of the year,
33:02gets into the lane,
33:03goes up,
33:04and he's fouled.
33:05As Sissoko and Klingen
33:07both challenge the shot.
33:11So this is when Portland got within nine
33:14and San Antonio called the timeout.
33:16Keldon Johnson,
33:17the longest tenured Spurs
33:19in his seventh year,
33:20he went through a pair of 22-win seasons,
33:24a 34-win season this year,
33:26but an enormous part of the 62-win campaign
33:29and one of the team leaders.
33:30It cuts both ways with the guy,
33:33meaning he keeps it light,
33:35he's got the music going,
33:37but he also is going to be the voice
33:39who gets on them when it's required.
33:42They had lost their edge,
33:43and he got into them a little bit.
33:45Here's George with more.
33:46Another note on Johnson, guys,
33:48is prior to this series,
33:49he was the longest tenured Spurs
33:52to never reach the postseason
33:54up until this year.
33:55Think about how many years
33:56this franchise has been in existence.
33:59And he's done a tremendous job
34:02as a role player.
34:03Didn't start a single game,
34:05but played all 82.
34:06One of 18 players to play all 82 games
34:08as Wembenyama's called for the foul.
34:10That's only his first of the game.
34:14Team foul number three.
34:17It'll be a side out of bounds.
34:24What did we see down the stretch of this game?
34:28Any Fox, Wembe, pick and roll
34:30when Fox comes back in.
34:32Sissoko with the throwdown
34:33and a foul on Wembenyama.
34:37A chance to make it a ten-point game again.
34:40City Sissoko, third-year player out of France,
34:42who did not, he played a lot
34:44during the regular season,
34:45but didn't play in the postseason
34:47until the last four minutes of game four.
34:48He's earned some minutes here late
34:50in game five.
34:51Well, this is a complete breakdown.
34:52And the three guards,
34:54Kelton, Johnson, Castle, and Fox,
34:56were all in a row discussing this
34:58visible frustration amongst the three of them.
35:01That's too easy.
35:02For a flagrant foul.
35:03So they're looking to see
35:04if this should be upgraded
35:06to a flagrant foul.
35:10Which could really
35:13provide some momentum here
35:14for the Spurs trying to
35:17cut into this deficit.
35:19He's got eight points in the quarter, Sissoko.
35:2210 for the game.
35:27So it's, I mean,
35:29absolutely no fear attack in the bucket.
35:31Were they looking to see
35:32if there was contact
35:33on the head?
35:35I think that's what they're looking at.
35:36Yeah, so it's contact on the head, exactly.
35:39And does that
35:40rise to the level of
35:42flagrant one on this?
35:43It has been determined
35:44that none of the elements
35:45of a flagrant foul present themselves.
35:47Therefore, this will remain
35:48a common foul
35:49to shoot one free throw.
35:50All right.
35:50So Sissoko,
35:52again, with a chance here
35:52to tie the game.
35:53Wimbledon Yama's going to get a breather.
35:56And Cornette will check in.
35:57Well, he's clearly trying to
35:58block the shot, right?
35:59So I think the criteria
36:01he's talking about
36:02that we always talk about
36:03are wind-up impact foul three.
36:05He is clearly trying
36:06to go for a blocked shot.
36:17And he completes the three-point play.
36:20Sissoko has as many points
36:22this quarter
36:22as the Spurs do.
36:24Nine apiece.
36:25We've got a game.
36:26Midway point of the fourth quarter.
36:28San Antonio up ten.
36:29Trying to close out a series.
36:31It's hard to do
36:32in any series,
36:33especially for a team
36:34that hasn't been
36:35in this position before.
36:36They've got a veteran in Fox, though.
36:38And he comes through
36:39with the foul line jumper.
36:46Abdi has got 20 points
36:48a game high.
36:49Holiday on the drive.
36:51Works into the lane.
36:51He's fouled.
36:52Count the bucket.
36:53A chance to make it nine.
36:54They continue to foul here
36:56in critical situations
36:57in both teams, right?
36:59Both teams so young.
37:01Every experience here
37:02is a learning experience.
37:04The elder statesman
37:06of the group, Drew,
37:07feeling the contact,
37:09leans, holds his body
37:11just enough to get Harper
37:13to get the whistle
37:14against him.
37:15Spurs are over the limit,
37:17so the Blazers
37:17will shoot free throws
37:18the rest of the game.
37:20Holiday, 84%
37:21during the regular season.
37:23He completes the three-point play.
37:25It's a nine-point game again.
37:28It was a 28-point lead
37:31in the third quarter
37:32for San Antonio.
37:37Shot clock inside a 10.
37:39The Spurs have kept it
37:40above the three-point line
37:41the entire possession.
37:43Now Fox 4-3 over Sissoko.
37:45It's good!
37:46Boy, every time
37:47San Antonio needs a big shot.
37:49And what did they do, Dave?
37:50They went right back
37:51to the thing that killed
37:52Portland in the second half,
37:54the Wemby Fox pick-and-roll.
37:57Klingin looking to answer.
37:59Way short.
37:59Rebound.
38:00Wembenyama, his 13th board.
38:02And I gotta believe
38:03you're gonna go right back
38:04in that direction.
38:05The pick-and-roll
38:06with Wemby and Fox
38:08in the second half
38:09of Game 4
38:09was devastating
38:10to this group.
38:1215 points,
38:14nine assists for Fox.
38:15He drives here
38:15and scores!
38:17Like Game 4,
38:18De'Aaron Fox
38:19take it over
38:20when San Antonio
38:21needed the veteran
38:22to do it in the fourth.
38:25Lead back to 14.
38:27Does Portland have
38:28one more run in it here
38:29with 4.40 to go?
38:32Obdi bumped off his spot
38:34by Castle
38:34and that's a foul
38:35on Castle.
38:36That's 5.
38:42And that will send
38:43Obdi to the line.
38:44Technical foul
38:44is just on Stephon Castle.
38:47There's the pick-and-roll
38:48with Wemby.
38:49Switch happens.
38:50It gives Fox
38:50enough time
38:51to dial it up
38:52from 3.
38:53And just a different angle,
38:54right?
38:56Line it up.
38:57Fox so comfortable.
38:58So Obdi is going to
39:00miss the first.
39:01The technical now
39:02he'll get two free throws
39:03from the personal.
39:06He's 5 of 7 tonight.
39:09This goes just
39:11to Georgia's report
39:12which was so timely.
39:14Sort of balancing
39:16confidence,
39:17fearlessness,
39:18and arrogance
39:19with making sure
39:21you're playing smart
39:22within the fundamentals.
39:24Not fouling too much.
39:26Keeping your composure.
39:29And it's been De'Aaron Fox
39:31in crunch time
39:32with the ball in his hands
39:34leading the way
39:35for San Antonio.
39:36Rachey's going to come back in
39:37as Tiago Splitter
39:38keeps a lot of the
39:41key players
39:42that have been
39:43in the rotation
39:43on the bench
39:44like Scoot Henderson.
39:44We haven't seen him
39:45in the fourth quarter.
39:46We haven't seen
39:46Jeremy Grant.
39:48Well,
39:48for Scoot,
39:50he has had a tough stretch
39:52just 2 for 6.
39:53Oh, wow.
39:55And Castle just fouled out.
39:58Just picked up
39:59a sixth foul
40:00trying to get
40:01the offensive
40:02or defensive rebound
40:03rather.
40:04Going to be more free throws
40:05for the Spurs.
40:07Or for the Blazers
40:08rather to try
40:09to get it down
40:09to 11.
40:15Still plenty of time
40:16and 4.36 to go.
40:22Castle just tying up Kamara.
40:26So it's two in a row.
40:28You think about
40:29the contact with Denny.
40:31It was one-on-one
40:32top of the floor.
40:34I mean,
40:35in direct line
40:36of the officials,
40:37this isn't somebody
40:38cutting through the lane
40:39and you can get away
40:40with a subtle bump.
40:41Those are two young fouls.
40:45Seven turnovers.
40:46And six fouls
40:47for Castle.
40:48Kamara gets the first
40:49free throw.
40:50And his competitive
40:51toughness
40:52is to me
40:53one of his great strengths.
40:54His fearlessness,
40:55his toughness.
40:57But you're walking
40:58the line here
40:59and he stepped across
41:00it on both fouls.
41:02It's a learning experience
41:04for a young team.
41:04If they do win this game
41:05and close it out
41:06in terms of how
41:07they handle things
41:08here in this
41:10elimination game.
41:11Right,
41:11and this is massive,
41:12right?
41:12Every one of these
41:13experiences matter.
41:14You do this
41:15in the next series?
41:17That's a problem.
41:18Against either
41:18Minnesota or Denver,
41:20a Denver team
41:20that's won a championship
41:21in Minnesota
41:22that's been the
41:22back-to-back conference
41:23finals.
41:25Shot clock down
41:26to three.
41:27Fox gets past
41:28Klingan floats it up
41:29and good.
41:30He's got 11 of the
41:3118 points for San Antonio
41:33in the quarter.
41:37Where would they be
41:38without De'Aaron Fox
41:39the last two games?
41:42Kamara's three
41:43off target.
41:45Knocked out of bounds
41:46by Klingan.
41:48My goodness.
41:49De'Aaron Fox
41:50for the experienced
41:51player on the floor.
41:53How about the finger roll
41:54going downhill left?
41:56Just Bates Kling
41:57and the stand up
41:58just enough
41:59with that Hezzy.
42:01That is so nice.
42:03He's got 14
42:04in the second half
42:05after 18
42:06in the second half
42:07of game four.
42:09He'll put it
42:09in his hands again.
42:10His team up 13.
42:13Fox against Grant.
42:14Fires away.
42:16Three no good.
42:17And good block up
42:18by Holiday.
42:19Out of bounds.
42:21The officials
42:21have not signaled yet.
42:23Now they do.
42:23It stays here
42:24at the Spurs.
42:25Boy Holiday.
42:26Holiday just has to battle
42:28Wendy on the weak side.
42:29But look at what Fox
42:31has done in the fourth.
42:36Only been in one
42:37postseason
42:37as Wemben Yamas fouled.
42:39That was with Sacramento
42:40in a seven game
42:41first round series
42:42a few years back
42:43with Golden State.
42:44So it's not like
42:45he's got a ton
42:45of postseason experience.
42:47But in comparison
42:48to just about
42:49everybody else
42:50in the roster
42:50save Cornette
42:51it's that valuable
42:53experience you have
42:54to imagine
42:54has really paid off
42:55and helped
42:57him settle down
42:58everybody else
42:59with big shot making
43:00in the last two games.
43:03So as we come down
43:04the stretch here
43:05both teams
43:05in the bonus
43:07Blazers have
43:08two timeouts
43:09Spurs one.
43:12Wemben Yama
43:12five of five
43:13now at the line
43:14back to a 14 point lead
43:17that Felix
43:20I think I'm going to
43:20take a picture of my son
43:21shooting his free throw
43:39up to 17 points and the lead
43:41is 15 now for San Antonio
43:44with three and a half to go.
43:46Wemben Yama's also got 13 rebounds
43:48and four blocks to go
43:50with those 17 points.
43:51Oh my goodness!
43:53Spiked
43:53into the 15th row
43:56even his dad says
43:57wow!
43:59I was going to say
44:00he might be the
44:01all-time tough grader
44:02if this doesn't get a reaction.
44:04Denny gets an angle
44:05you think
44:06and Victor
44:07oh my goodness!
44:11Entry pass to Grant
44:15and a foul call.
44:1812 blocks
44:19in the last two games
44:20for Victor Wemben Yama
44:22the defensive player of the year.
44:23I mean
44:23the ability
44:24to just erase
44:26what looks like
44:28a real opportunity
44:30and a smile
44:31from Wemben
44:35that's too good!
44:40He's a tough grader
44:42if that's the only thing
44:43that's kind of reacting now.
44:44He had not reacted
44:45we've shown him
44:45a number of times
44:46tonight when Wemben Yama
44:47has made great plays
44:48on either end of the floor
44:49and
44:51that's really the first time
44:52we've gotten Felix
44:53to show some emotion there.
45:02Portland still within striking distance
45:04but needs stops
45:05to keep its season alive
45:07facing elimination here
45:08in game five
45:09trailing
45:09three to one
45:10in the series
45:11and now 14
45:13106-92
45:14in the game.
45:15Fox working on Kraychie
45:17gets downhill
45:18hangs
45:18banks it in!
45:19What a fourth
45:21out for De'Aaron Fox!
45:25And the Blazers
45:26throw it away!
45:31Can't say enough
45:32about
45:34De'Aaron Fox's contributions
45:37in the last two games.
45:40It looked like they
45:41were gonna lose that game
45:43and it was gonna be 2-2
45:45and they'd have to go back
45:47to Portland
45:47but Fox was great
45:49in the third quarter
45:50brought the Spurs back
45:52and when Portland
45:54made it close
45:56here tonight
45:57he put up 13 points
45:59in the fourth quarter
46:00to stretch the lead back out.
46:01Yeah, they realized
46:02all right, we gotta
46:03we gotta trap this guy
46:04somebody else
46:05has gotta beat us.
46:07Obdia misses
46:08Wembenyama secures it
46:10two minutes away now
46:12from advancing
46:13to the conference
46:15semifinals
46:15for the first time
46:16since 2017.
46:19It's the first
46:19playoff appearance
46:20for San Antonio
46:21since 2019.
46:25Harper passed
46:26his man
46:27layup no good
46:28but he was pushed.
46:32Victor Wembenyama
46:33has taken
46:33seven shots.
46:35That's it.
46:36Five for seven.
46:39He has as many
46:40field goals
46:40as blocks
46:41field goals
46:42made that
46:42as five.
46:52It's the look
46:53of resignation.
46:58But again
46:59showed a lot
46:59of fight
47:00here down the stretch
47:01you do wonder
47:02what's next
47:02for this organization
47:04when the decision
47:05will be made
47:06on the head
47:06coaching situation
47:11got Dame Lillard
47:12who
47:13should be healthy
47:14and ready to go
47:15for next year.
47:17I ran into him
47:18in the elevator
47:19and he's like
47:20I'm going to be good.
47:23I think he's
47:24very anxious
47:26to get back
47:27and show
47:27when he's got left.
47:28There's a lot
47:29of young talent
47:29around this team.
47:30Wembenyama
47:31just steals
47:32Kamara's soul
47:33and out of bounds
47:34San Antonio ball
47:37his sixth rejection
47:38and the crowd
47:39rises as one.
47:45He's just
47:46wiping things out.
47:53I would not
47:55venture
47:55into the paint.
47:56I don't think
47:57I'd venture
47:57into the zip code.
48:00Portland has called
48:01a timeout
48:02to initiate
48:02the coach's challenge.
48:03So Portland
48:04is challenging
48:05the ruling
48:06on the floor.
48:07154 to go.
48:13Victor Wembenyama
48:1417 points
48:1514 rebounds
48:17all on the defensive end
48:19and six blocks
48:20the last two
48:21utterly ridiculous.
48:27Upon review
48:28it has been determined
48:28there was no
48:29proximate foul
48:29in the play
48:30and therefore
48:30this is an unsuccessful
48:31challenge
48:32as the ball was
48:33thrown off the stanchion
48:35by Portland.
48:36They were looking
48:36to see
48:38as Portland
48:40challenged
48:40the ruling
48:41on the floor
48:41of the ball
48:41at a bounds
48:42off of Portland
48:44if there was
48:46a proximate foul
48:47meaning on the
48:47block.
48:48First of all
48:49the patience
48:50required for that
48:52play to develop
48:53and the official
48:54to just hold
48:55hold hold
48:56is the contact
48:58marginal
48:58all the things
48:59they're reading
48:59in real time
49:01it's ridiculous.
49:05Well Mitch Johnson
49:06the young head
49:07coach for San Antonio
49:08will use this game
49:09as a teaching experience
49:12an opportunity
49:13for his young team
49:14going into the next round
49:19where they will face
49:21either Denver
49:21or Minnesota
49:22game six Thursday night
49:24ESPN in Minnesota
49:25the Wolves up
49:26three two in that series
49:29San Antonio
49:30went one and two
49:31against Minnesota
49:31and one and three
49:32against Denver
49:33during the regular season
49:34they only lost 20 games
49:35five of them
49:36were against those
49:36two teams
49:37during the regular year
49:40Portland season
49:41will end
49:41but this is a team
49:42not many thought
49:43would make it to the
49:44playoffs
49:44especially after
49:45what happened
49:47with their head coach
49:49as part of the
49:50federal gambling
49:51investigation
49:52to be able to
49:53and with 30 and 21
49:54the final 51 games
49:56right around the time
49:59that Tiago Splitter took over
50:01won the plan
50:04in Phoenix
50:05to get the seventh seed
50:07and one game too
50:08here in Portland
50:09is when Benyama fouls
50:10Grant
50:10but then three straight
50:12losses
50:14the one that really hurt
50:15was Friday night
50:16for them
50:17without when Benyama
50:18to have a double digit
50:19lead in that game
50:20a chance to go 2-1
50:21in the series
50:21and they blow the league
50:22and it's played
50:24the way their season
50:25played right
50:25the turnovers
50:26the inability to execute
50:28in the half court
50:29the lack
50:30it's not for a lack
50:31of volume of three-point
50:32shooting
50:32it's a lack of
50:33being able to
50:35consistently hit them
50:36I mean even tonight
50:37they're 11 for 45
50:40from three
50:42they've got to find
50:43a way to execute
50:45be able to
50:45he was talking to us
50:47about pregame
50:47like all the things
50:48he's learned
50:49in this series
50:50how prepared teams are
50:52how physical
50:54the playoffs are
50:55how much they take away
50:56your greatest strength
50:57and how deep
50:58you have to execute
50:59into your stuff
51:00and that's the next step
51:01for Obdia perhaps
51:02who's been a really good
51:03player for a while
51:04but this is the first year
51:05he really got recognition
51:06he's got a chance
51:07to make an all-NBA team
51:08he was an all-star
51:09finished third
51:10and most improved
51:11player voting
51:12but barely over 30%
51:13three-point shooter
51:14that will have to change
51:16three-pointer for Champagny
51:18he started the night hot
51:21and he finishes with a three
51:23as Obdia shoved
51:25five triples for Champagny
51:28really impressive
51:29the way
51:30San Antonio
51:31they had lost
51:32they had lost
51:33their momentum
51:36and to finish this
51:38the way they did
51:39to respond
51:39I don't know
51:40what the run is
51:41from Keldon Johnson
51:42talking to over there
51:44at one of those breaks
51:45but it felt pretty big
51:48Portland cut it to nine
51:50but that got to Aaron Fox
51:51every time the Blazers
51:52got
51:53within striking distance
51:55Fox made a big shot
51:56both teams
51:57emptying the benches
51:59and the Spurs
52:00are moving on
52:01first playoff series
52:04victory
52:05since 2017
52:07they'll await
52:08the Denver Minnesota winner
52:11and a real threat
52:13the Spurs are
52:14to challenge Oklahoma City
52:16which is looking to repeat
52:18and be the first
52:18consecutive NBA champion
52:21since Golden State
52:22in 2017-2018
52:24you think about
52:26the speed
52:28the physical toughness
52:30the defensive tenacity
52:32of both backcourts
52:34pretty special
52:39weapon Yama finishes
52:41with six blocks
52:4217 points
52:4314 rebounds
52:51Kelly Olenek
52:53at the line
52:53as Murray just fouled him
52:54so that he could get
52:56Abdi out of the game
52:58he finishes with 22
53:04not many thought
53:07when the year began
53:09as good as
53:10Victor when Benyama is
53:12that the Spurs would be
53:13in the conference semifinals
53:14they won 34 games last year
53:17the jump was expected
53:19but a 28 win
53:21improvement
53:21and now
53:22a first round victory
53:25and looking like
53:27a real threat
53:27to maybe go all the way
53:29not many
53:30would have imagined
53:32but that's where we are
53:34closing in on
53:35May 1st
53:37and Fox
53:39showing you
53:40the ability
53:40to close games
53:42when required
53:43taking over
53:44for a four or five
53:45minute stretch
53:50when Benyama finishes
53:52the series
53:52averaging 21 points
53:54nine rebounds
53:55he had 16 blocks
53:56in the series
53:57he had 13
53:58the last two games
54:01but you're right about
54:02De'Aaron Fox
54:03all the big shots
54:04the last two games
54:05as the Spurs
54:06eliminate the Portland
54:07Trail Blazers
54:13San Antonio
54:15headed to the conference
54:16semis
54:22there's two tenths
54:23of a second
54:23they're going to have
54:24to inbound the ball
54:25here
54:28well this one's over
54:31first postseason
54:32win in nine years
54:33for San Antonio
54:34that year
54:34they went to the
54:35Western Conference
54:36finals
54:38and now
54:38it's a waiting game
54:39will Minnesota
54:40be able to close
54:41out Denver
54:41on Thursday
54:42will the Nuggets
54:42force a game
54:43seven
54:44the Spurs
54:45will play the winner
54:46of that series
54:50114-95
54:51the final
54:52and San Antonio
54:53wins this first round
54:54series
54:54four games to one
55:01college teammates
55:02Klingon and Castle
55:04embrace
55:07Castle
55:08even though he fouled out
55:09and had some turnovers
55:11in this game
55:14he had a terrific
55:15first quarter
55:16and was a big reason
55:17why the Spurs
55:18got out to that
55:18big lead
55:19and never relinquished
55:22it despite the
55:23challenge in the
55:24fourth by Portland
55:26they've got to do
55:27this beat the drum
55:28thing
55:28we're going to try
55:29to talk to Victor
55:29Wimbanyama
55:30and De'Aaron Fox
55:31but I think the
55:32drum ritual
55:32may come first
55:42nice exchange between
55:43those two guys
55:46so both Oklahoma City
55:48and San Antonio the one
55:49and two seeds in the West
55:50have advanced
55:51the Thunder await the
55:53winner of Lakers Houston
55:55game five tomorrow on ESPN
55:57the Lakers can close that
55:58series out
55:59Kevin Durant will not play
56:01so chance for L.A. to advance
56:04and now San Antonio awaits
56:06either Denver or Minnesota
56:16meanwhile in the east the one
56:17two have an advance
56:18we thought maybe Boston
56:19would close out Philly
56:20but the Sixers won the night
56:21so that goes to game six
56:23and Detroit is down 3-1
56:25to the eighth seed Orlando
56:26so while it was much easier
56:28for the one and two in the west
56:30the opposite of the east

58:21Mitch Johnson told us about all the conversations you and him had during the season about your role and impact
58:27on this team.
58:28How would you describe that?
58:29I mean, just try to use my gravity.
58:31You know, when I have the ball, when I don't have the ball.
58:33If I can get an open shot or get a teammate an open shot, that's what I try to do.
58:36Now, how would you describe the impact this man has and the radius and gravity he has on defense?
58:41It's like no one else.
58:43I mean, between probably him and Steph, like, those are the only guys that you see that have the type
58:47of gravity that they have.
58:49And it's amazing to play with, but with Steph, you can't just throw the ball to the moon.
58:53Now, again, Victor, with De'Aaron and his ability to finish games for you guys, particularly in the last two
58:59games, how would you describe his contributions?
59:02He knows how to step up in the right moments, for sure.
59:05And he knows how to share with teammates, so he's just versatile.
59:09All right.
59:09What are the plans now for the next couple of days?
59:12I don't know, watching every game, watching other games.
59:15Well, have fun doing that.
59:17Congratulations, guys.
59:18Thank you.
59:19All right, back to you, Dave.
59:20Well, they'll be certainly watching Thursday on ESPN to see who they might play if Minnesota can close out Denver.
59:26The Spurs advancing to round two of the postseason for the first time since 2017.
59:33They eliminate the Blazers by the final score of 114-95.
59:38Wembenyama finishes with 17 points, 14 rebounds, all on the defensive end, and six blocked shots.
59:46De'Aaron Fox, a team-high 21 points.
59:49Doris Berg, George Sedano, our entire outstanding crew, Dave Pasch, saying so long from San Antonio.
59:55We've got Ernie, Kenny, Charles, and Shaq in the studio.
