00:48foot space every day I think we're ready to make that leap back onto land let's go oh there we

00:55much of the bedroom yeah we're done for the day having a house we'll be able to have more places

01:53the Netherlands look at this water though go scuba diving right there skinny dipping oh for sure we're
01:59pros at that there you go how did you guys find Bonaire the pandemic started and they said you got
02:06to stay home I said no we don't we got a boat we've sailed through a lot of Caribbean islands
02:11okay and
02:11this one just checks all of our boxes we've been very blessed in that after the pandemic tourism has
02:17grown exponentially here and the market in Bonaire it's been booming within the last five years it's
02:23definitely a different lifestyle than Texas none of that like Russian around rum and sunshine you can't
02:29go wrong so now that we're looking to put our roots down in Bonaire we have decided that we're going
02:34to
02:34sell our house in Texas so that we can afford a little slice of paradise here we still own the
02:39home
02:39we rent it out James actually turned our entire backyard into this beach oasis we've got sand there
02:46we've got a deck that he built that looks like a dock it was our dream home but selling our
02:50house
02:50in Texas will allow us to have a bigger budget up to six hundred fifty thousand dollars we're thinking
02:55maybe a charter business here oh wow so we'd want something that we can I don't separate the work work
03:03for the boat and then have a place to live we plan to make money by chartering our boat day
03:09trip sunset
03:09cruises James is also a scuba instructor so we can start a charter business yeah teach scuba diving and
03:16we'll see where it goes from there I would love to have a pool okay I would love perhaps have
03:21two
03:21bedrooms and some outdoor space just for me so I can practice my yoga watch the birds I would like
03:28something like furnished so we don't have to import all our furniture and some storage area for dive
03:35gear boat parts maybe a nice kitchen because I do all the cooking oh wow I'm lucky there you go
03:41that's one of the reasons that he checked my boxes close to the boat you know close to the harbor

03:47this area it would be nice I don't want to be too far inland it's too hot I'd like to

03:53have to be on the water but I'd like to be somewhere where I can maybe hear the ocean and

03:57breeze what's your budget look like our budget is $650,000 okay I feel like between the two of
04:05us I'm more conscious of the budget I don't know if I'm ready to spend all of that money whereas

04:39area is called them them and we're about 18 minutes from the harbor I've been 20 minutes commute to work
04:47I mean a 20 minute commute it's a little further than I'd like to drive but you know that could
04:53be a good thing a little separation from from work so the house that we're looking at today it's a
05:00developing area some of the houses are still under construction we've got a lot of new buildings here
05:06and so this area is really up and coming and we've got new resorts close by that are really bringing
05:14up the
05:14value of Bell Nam there's a lot of unique history we have the salt pier it's close proximity to
05:21restaurants and we do have wild donkeys here so you might have donkeys visiting you guys sometimes oh I
05:29love that it's like Mario Kart you got donkeys running out you got shells and bananas so it does have

05:36pool ample storage and I think you're gonna like the kitchen jeans that is a lot of the boxes checked

05:42there right what happened to the roof I guess where we're going we don't need roads okay here we
05:50are this one is two bedrooms there is indeed a little bit of construction but walking distance to
05:59the ocean it's about five minutes that way I guess the big question is how much six hundred and forty

08:31concrete there's a lot of concrete doesn't feel very tropical I mean I love the pool yeah the pool's
08:38definitely a plus but this is a brand new build it's fully furnished it's got the two bedrooms and the
08:45pool so well I feel like if I'm gonna pay six hundred and forty five thousand dollars I want to
08:52have a little bit more because this is arid it's dusty you can't see the ocean in our house in
08:58Texas
08:58we had to create a tropical vibe so here in Bonaire I'm really expecting that wherever we live is going
09:03to have that naturally for us to have to sell our house in Texas our beloved home in Texas they
09:09trade up
09:09to this that's gonna I don't know if it's a trade-up that's yeah I think it's gonna be trickier

09:15anticipated to find the house that Julie and James are really looking for with that Caribbean vibe they
09:21would like to at least see the ocean I mean at the end of the day we live on an
09:24island right all right
09:26let's go the next one yes what I love about Bonaire is it's not over developed there's only 25,000
09:37people that live here I love these beautiful colored buildings look at us so quaint yeah I mean
09:44Texas we don't have anything like this here you walk in and it's bon dia you say good morning to

09:59can be the eye let's see yeah you can be the eye I would describe the vibe on Bonaire as

10:04it's colorful that's super cute I get to hang out with people that I would never have met in Texas
10:11ever when we are back in Texas I don't think we were actually ourselves we were you know putting
10:16on suits and ties and working here I just feel better about myself the stress just melts away here on
10:26air bon dia julia bon dia bon dia James bon dia so where we're going is actually not that far

10:34town 10 minutes or less from the heart of crawling dyke so you guys will have access to all the
10:41restaurants beach clubs bars yeah I know you like that that's why we're moving on land yes so I know

10:48wanted something more warm and inviting it has a lot of indoor outdoor living space it is two bedrooms
10:55fully furnished and move-in ready there's the pool look at the pool area really cool
11:09so based off yesterday it was a big lesson for me you're right on the water and it's only 15

12:08bring back that sense of community that I've been missing since we left Fort Worth and so I'm looking
12:12forward to finding friends getting to know people on the island and expanding our our network

14:08the top of our budget that's right and yeah we've got HOA fees around a little over ten thousand
14:14annually okay right that's the top of our budget there's additional cost with the HOA and still
14:22pretty far away from the harbor 650 is our ceiling and you know honestly I was hoping to come in

14:29little bit under that but this does have everything that I want right if we were to sell our Texas
14:35home
14:35this would deplete our nest and we still have another dream to fulfill with starting this business so it's
14:50so clear and beautiful yeah wait so boner is a secret gem it's divers paradise this move is
15:00going to bring some more balance back to our life when James and I were first married we were very
15:04independent I was a corporate banker he was working on oil rigs he'd be gone for anywhere between what
15:09three and thirty days in the water awesome there's a bunch of fish down here kind of went from one
15:15extreme to the other right we're gone all the time separate now we're way close together I'm really
15:20excited to get a place of our own on land oh are you ready to look at our forever home

15:36all right we're excited where are we going today well you asked for proximity to your boat yes so I've
15:46got a property right by this marina right over there oh my god we're at Harbor Village all right I've
15:52actually been really curious about this place so I'm really excited about this let's go let's do it
15:56that'll be perfect this apartment is within a resort okay great so you indeed have a beautiful
16:02pool you have beach access a sandy beach which is rare on bon air because we're surrounded by reef
16:08this is a one bedroom with a den it's fully furnished move-in ready it's been updated it has a
16:14spectacular
16:15ocean view it looks expensive yeah it sounds expensive but you're gonna be surprised at the price
16:21it's 595,000 595 is amazing price we've got HOA fees of around 10,000 annually not too bad for
16:30this
16:30resort living so let's go take a look all right take a look yourself okay let me know what you

17:15that so that's a big plus for me is that enough for you for all the dive gear might not

17:36that this vanity is gorgeous all right let's go check out the main bedroom it's nice look at the
17:43view beautiful this is amazing this is a fantastic view there's the boat wow yeah is this enough outdoor
17:50space for him ah I think that's all we got I mean yeah there's not a lot of outdoor space
17:56but this view
17:57is amazing well what'd you guys think I mean it's beautiful that's resort living I love the
18:10furnishings it's really contemporary modern the view is nice storage it has some but I don't think
18:17it's gonna be enough there is a dive area maybe we could negotiate some additional storage for you
18:23and although it's close to the marina I'm nervous it might be too close I don't know I think it's
18:29nice
18:29to be that close like I would love to just be able to just walk down to the boat and
18:33fix stuff and
18:35having eyes on it it's amazing I'm really looking for a sense of community and I'm I'm nervous about
18:42moving someplace and living amongst tourists and I really want a place that I can retreat to you could
18:47actually live at a resort I would love that living in a resort I mean it sounds like a dream
18:52and it looks
18:52like a dream but I'm just not sure if that's really where we want to be do we want to
18:56be living
18:57at a resort we could we could right there you could live at it yeah well we'll see well well
19:11we're about
19:12we're about to be landlubbers landlubbers I think this is a perfect island though so now the real
19:17question is which of the houses is worth selling the Texas home that might be like the hardest question
19:24I've had it's really difficult yeah like really the home in Texas is really special to me to us we
19:33put a
19:33a lot of love into that home I built that whole backyard as our vision board I like having a
19:39U.S.
19:39address for a few different reasons and one of the most important reasons is it's really close to my
19:43family and it's gonna be tough to give that up I feel like we have two that we like I
19:48have one that I
19:49love is there a world that exists where we don't sell the house and we have a place to land
19:53here we'll figure
20:00it out which home did we pick we chose none of the homes we decided to keep our house in
20:10Texas we did
20:11not sell the house so we could not then get one of the larger houses but we actually were able
20:18to check
20:18most the boxes off with this property last minute we found a property that was off-market under our
20:27budget the best part is the price 250 pounds and we get to keep our house that's making us money
20:37and
20:37it's close to my parents so I'm actually really thrilled about that I got indoor outdoor space I
20:42get to watch the birds and I get to do some yoga outdoors which I love play a room for
20:47storage of
20:48gear and boat stuff for the business moving ready fully furnished there's only one bedroom but we're
20:56already used to living smaller I didn't get my big spacious kitchen all right gonna roast some
21:01vegetables honey the only thing we're missing is a pool but we actually have a pool at the marina
21:07that's directly across the street from the beach close to the harbor I left my corporate job to focus
21:13100% on our business I keep the boat running and she keeps it booked yeah welcome to the lost

21:19so good to be here having the house has allowed us to have more balance in our relationship because
21:25we're not on top of each other all the time on the boat we're on top of each other a
21:29lot here but in
21:30different ways
