00:35the big potential of how both countries can deepen the relationship and i'm an honor to welcome you
00:41and joining us in the studio is russia ambassador naï latipov to unpack how these opportunities can
00:47translate into real impact thank you very much ambassador for coming here how are you thank
00:52you very much and thank you first of all i would like to thank you to express my gratitude for
00:57inviting me i'm for the first time in astrovani and for me it's an honor and pleasure would be today
01:02with here in astrovani and see i should start with this quoting that malaysia is time trusted and
01:13reliable partner for russia in southeast asia you have mentioned that next year we are celebrating 16
01:19years of our diplomatic establishing of our diplomatic relations malaysia is very important country for
01:29us in southeast asia and in the asia region as a whole and i should quote some malay proverb i
01:36don't know
01:37how it's i don't know how it sounds in bahasa malayu but the meaning is that malaysia is our friend
01:46who is
01:47uh far from our rice but very close to our heart for this um 16 years we develop our relations
01:56in
01:56uh different uh sphere first of all of course we're trying to increase our economic ties and of course we
02:05are trying to activate our diplomatic dialogue political dialogue on different levels and of course
02:11uh much more attention recently we are paying to the development human to human ties between
02:16our countries i think that we have some very good achievements in these 16 years and first of all
02:23i would like to mention that more than 6 000 malaysians studied in russia in medical universities and i think
02:32that in every malaysian hospital you can meet alumni of russian medical universities and of course i'm proud
02:42that we have a very good ties eco in economic sphere recently we're developing our cooperation especially
02:51in food security issues and in energy we have very good prospects in this uh spheres and we are ready
02:59to
02:59deepen our cooperation with malaysian partners in uh all these issues and of course i'm proud that we have
03:08a very good relations in military and technical cooperations we cooperation we are proud that
03:15russian jet fighters su-30 are defending malaysian sky in southeast asia in southeast asia and of course
03:24uh we are ready to increase our cooperation in all this fair and to develop new spheres of our in
03:31other
03:31another 16 years in another spheres of our mutual uh cooperation that could be another focus for another
03:3960 years and this is the milestone that we have achieved both for both countries ambassador before
03:44we get into cooperation with malaysia maybe you can share with us how are things in russia right now both
03:49both economically and socially you see we have uh till last year we have uh very good results in
03:59that's concerning developing our economy our economic growth was about three four five percent in
04:05in recent years despite all these uh so-called european unlawful european and western country sanctions
04:13uh we were managed to overcome all the difficulties and developing quite well because uh these sanctions
04:21uh influenced our economy but nevertheless we managed we managed to try to find some very good ways and
04:29out and developing our economy quite well of course there are some problems but there were some problems
04:38which we have already overcome and there of course there will be other problems but i'm quite sure that we
04:44will be able to overcome all these difficulties because we had we have a very good experience first of all
04:51and
04:51the second thing is i should mention that we have a lot of friends in different parts of the world
04:57and
04:57malaysia one of them which are helping us to overcome all these difficulties because from our point of view
05:06economic ties with russia in the benefits of russia and malaysia given that situation how does
05:13it shape russia's approach to partners like malaysia especially in terms of trade investment and long-term
05:21cooperation you see we should from my personal point of view we should find some uh important areas and
05:31which to which we should to which we should pay more attention we have already mentioned that we are
05:36working in full security sphere and the second thing i should mention is the energy of course we are
05:45ready to supply russian uh oil gas to malaysia and at the same time we are ready to work together
05:54with our
05:54malaysia partners in atomic energy sphere you know that russia has a quite a unique experience in this
06:02sphere and we are ready to share our experience and our achievements in this sphere with our malaysian
06:11friends and i think that the most maybe suitable form of our beautiful bilateral cooperation is to
06:19build small or small or medium scale atomic nuclear reactors in malaysia we presented our possibilities in
06:30constructing so-called floating nuclear stations near malaysian population near malaysian show near malaysian
06:39cost and i think it's a very reasonable solution for securing malaysian energy security in energy
06:47because you can build it very fast it's safe and you can move into because it's floating you can move
06:55it to any place of your country which you need to move and i think it will be very useful
07:01for malaysia
07:02because as i learned from the mass media malaysian government is paying a lot of attention of to
07:10create so-called data centers and they need a lot of of course water and of course electricity and as
07:18concerning electricity we are ready to help you to solve this problem with the help of this floating or
07:24middle or small scale atomic reactors and of course we are ready to invest to malaysian food security
07:34it is fair to the malaysian industries i t security i t technologies we have a very good experience in
07:42this
07:43spheres and we are quite open to work in these areas we established several years ago very i think effective
07:54mechanism for developing our cooperation i mean our joint commission on economic scientific and
08:02technical cultural cooperation with work with which are co-chair with the minister of higher education
08:08of malaysia honorable dat ozamri and minister of higher education and science of russia mr falcov
08:17they are on the same base base and i think in the framework of this commission will be able to
08:24find
08:24very important solutions and of course i should mention about our cooperation in education
08:31sphere i have already mentioned that a lot of malaysian doctors studied in russia this year we increased
08:39the number of the grants which russian government issued for malaysians and we are ready to host
08:46malaysian students in russia you are always welcome this year we have a lot of candidates but we have only
08:56for 40 grants for 40 grants for malaysian students hope next year russian government will will find an
09:03opportunity an option to increase this number and of course i should mention about people to people ties
09:13i think it's the most important i think in our relations
09:18last year more than 1050 russians thousands of russian tourists visited malaysia i should say to my
09:27comfort roads that malaysia is a very beautiful comfortable uh country with diverse culture nature
09:36beautiful malaysian food food and of course very friendly malaysians who are ready to welcome you to russia and
09:46uh to to malaysia and of course i will be happy if more and more malaysians will visit russia russia
09:55russia is a very big interesting uh country with diverse culture religion food nature and so on and
10:04i hope that more and more malaysians will visit and develop russia we know that other countries are also
10:12competing for investment and partnerships and these are some of the key elements that stood up for
10:17russia that we continue uh having this corporate having this cooperation collaborations uh but we know
10:25that in a global dynamic right now with what's happening in the middle east is definitely something
10:31that we need to factor in as well so what will you say especially to malaysian business that may still
10:37be
10:37cautious what assurance can russia offer in terms of stability and long-term commitment first of all
10:45i would i would like to stress that russia is very reliable and trusted partner it's quite a safe country
10:53with stable legislation with stable political system and we will be ready to welcome malaysian business
11:01uh to russia it's safe and i hope it will be very profitable for you because we have of course
11:10different achievements opportunities and we are ready to share our achievements and opportunities
11:16but on the same time we are eager to learn other countries experience and i believe we will be able
11:23to find some common ground common grounds for developing our cooperation in different spheres as i mentioned
11:29this energy including atomic energy uh it security it technologies food security and so on
11:40i also add on the younger generation we speak previously on how younger generation is shaping
11:47the next mindset the next growth of every business businesses socially economically so when we see that
11:55young engagement is growing how important is this in shaping the long-term ties between russia and malaysia
12:03see i think that yes it's very important to include young people to our bilateral ties and in this regard
12:11i would like to mention that i would like to mention that this year in the city of ekaterinburg there
12:17will be a very big
12:19we called it international youth festival in ekaterinburg and we invited more than 10 000 of young people
12:27from different countries of the world and i would like i'm happy to mention that we invited several malaysians
12:35to take part in this festival and hope that they will be happy to visit our country and i believe
12:44that it
12:45will be a very good chance for them to learn my country and then to use this experience for the
12:51further
12:51development of our relations and we are ready to invite young malaysians politicians to russia to meet
13:02our representatives of different circles we are ready to establish meetings with our mps with the leaders of
13:13young people movements in russia and also hope that this experience will be useful for
13:19our bilateral ties in the future and of course we are now living in a very dynamic
13:27world and we need young people we should include them to our relations because with young people i'm sure
13:36we will be able to learn maybe some new ideas some new approaches to our cooperation and i think that
13:45we
13:46desperately need such kind of new ideas and new approaches to our relations
13:51we have seen a fantastic journey for almost six decades six years and we're looking forward for another
13:58six years before we end our discussion uh your excellency if you have one message to malaysians
14:07about the future of russia malaysia malaysia relations what would it be
14:13see is concerning our future the first of all i would like to mention that we should bring our past
14:20experience to the future past experiences mean that we have a very good try and trusted and reliable
14:30partnership to the future and should base our future and should include to our future of course all the
14:37elements of uh modern uh world i mean it technologies uh ai technologies and uh other
14:48things without which is the future is unacceptable or unbelievable for us
14:54diplomatic ties may have started nearly six decades ago uh excellency but what we're seeing now is a
15:01relationship that is clearly evolving into something more strategy and forward looking between russia and
15:06Malaysia again i want to say to ambassador nael latipov thank you so much for your insight and hopefully
15:11we keep in touch in the future thank you again thank you definitely all of our uh valuable insight
