00:06Iran has consistently upheld maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf,
00:13Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman.
00:16For decades, Iran has fulfilled its responsibilities as a coastal state.
00:21Since 28 February, the United States and Israel have waged an unlawful war of aggression against Iran,
00:29in violation of UN Charter, disrupting maritime security and threatening regional peace.
00:37The United States has imposed maritime blockade and has engaged in unlawful action,
00:43including seizure of Iranian commercial vessels in international waters.
00:51Iran's lawful measures aim to strike an appropriate balance between security interests
00:58of the coastal state and the continuous safe conduct of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,
01:04in a highly volatile environment.
01:08These practical measures will be carefully examined in light of evolving circumstances.
01:15Iran is not a party to the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
01:20Accordingly, it is not bound by its treaty-based provisions except to the extent that specific rules reflected therein
01:30are universally recognized as customary international law.
01:34It is regrettable that some members, while asserting the navigational rights must not be treated deliberately,
01:43ignored the United States in position of a so-called maritime blockade that threaten international navigation.
01:50They have once again exposed their double standards.
01:54The concerns for maritime safety and freedom of navigation is neither genuine nor consistent with their action and positions.
