Sojan Joseph, Labour MP for Ashford, told us: "I still back the Prime Minister."

Meghan Shaw reports.
Transcript
00:00I still back Prime Minister. He has made it clear that if he had all the information before, then he
00:11would not have appointed him.
00:14Words of confidence from Kent's only Labour MP to express support for the Prime Minister when KMTV asked if they
00:22still had faith in his leadership.
00:24I made ongoing investigations into how Peter Mandelson was ever able to serve as British Ambassador to the United States,
00:32while being an associate of convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
00:37I should not have appointed Peter Mandelson. I take responsibility for that decision and I apologise again to the victims
00:46of the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein who were clearly failed by my decision.
00:51The Ashford MP has been a staunch supporter of his leader since the release of the Epstein files in February
00:57that found further correspondence between the disgraced politician and Epstein.
01:03Now, several senior cabinet members and civil servants have stepped down or been sacked, with the latest Sir Ollie Robbins
01:10fired after it was revealed he did not disclose vetting concerns around Mandelson's appointment.
01:16I contacted all of Kent's Labour MPs to ask if they still backed the Prime Minister, and no other MP
01:24got back to me.
01:26Opposition, both to Mandelson's tenure and Keir Starmer's governance, has been rife across all parties.
01:33His reputation is at stake. Everyone is watching. It is finally time for the truth.
01:39Yet, only Sir Roger Gale, the Conservative MP for Sandwich and Herne Bay, wanted to elaborate on camera.
01:47He has jeopardised the security of the United Kingdom from his position of Prime Minister and in appointing Mandelson as
01:57our ambassador to Washington.
02:00That is an issue from which he will never recover. His credibility will never recover.
02:06And that means that he has to go.
02:08But now that MPs are set to vote on whether the Prime Minister should face an investigation over his conduct
02:15during the Mandelson controversy, will their silence persist?
02:19Megan Shaw for Kame TV.
