00:00Is the era of money games over? India's online gaming sector will come under new regulation
00:06from May 1st. Here's what changes. The Online Gaming Act 2025 will be enforced by the Online
00:12Gaming Authority of India, which will act as a national regulator. Esports, casual games and
00:18social games remain unaffected. Buying skins, paying entry fees or taking subscriptions are
00:23still allowed. But gambling and all forms of online money games are explicitly banned.
00:29Publishers violating the rules could face outbans, block transactions,
00:33fines of up to one crore rupees or even jail time. OGAI will decide what counts as a money game,
00:41register esports titles, handle complaints and enforce regulations. The authority can summon
00:47individuals, conduct investigations and demand data from gaming companies. Permitted games will
00:54not require registration unless specifically mandated. Only esports will require mandatory
01:00registration, valid for 10 years. Several gaming platforms including Dream 11 and Mobile Premier
01:06League have already suspended real money features in 2025.
