Allergy season, meet your loophole. This pomegranate martini keeps it crisp, tart, and surprisingly gentle since both vodka and pomegranate are lower histamine choices that won’t stir things up. Finally, a cocktail that doesn’t fight back. 🍸❤️

00:10I've never made one of these. That's good. An antihistamine. This is bottoms up. Look at this
00:18mess. Happy hour hay fever. It's spring everybody. It's hay fever time. Which is great, but now we all
00:24sound like weirdos and we're sneezing and it's like oh am I sick or do I just
00:29have allergies? We do. We have allergies and so tonight we're gonna bring you
00:35bottoms up. It's a happy hour hay fever friendly situation. I learned a couple
00:41of things today you guys. What'd you learn? I learned that red wine is bad for
00:45histamine, white wine is better. If you have hay fever you should have three
00:49different liquors. Gin, vodka, and 100% agave tequila. Everything else is just
00:56shite. So like beer? No. Wine? No. And also I read too right here I'm gonna reference a
01:03little notes. The mixers. The mixers that you use? Mixers that you should not use
01:13that cause, that aggravates your hay fever. I'm aggravated. Oh! Grapefruit. It is hay
01:21fever. Pineapple. Tomato. Strawberry. Orange. Tomato? So instead go for these. Apple, blueberry,
01:28cranberry, grape, lemon, lime, small notes. Mango, peach, pomegranate. Which brings us too.
01:34Ah, pomegranate. Pomegranate. Hey. By the way, this stuff is super expensive. It's like seven dollars a bottle. It stains
01:44everything. So just you're
01:45booming. Careful. Okay. It's always nice when you can add pomegranate to your cocktail. Yeah. So all right. This is
01:50the
01:50pomegranate marks you need. This is for your hay fever, whatever. All right. Here's what I'm
01:54gonna do this. I put the ice in here. I'm ready. I'm all set. Larry, you've taken over. Yeah, I've
01:58taken over. Are you ready? Just move over, sir. Okay. So first we start with one and a half ounces.
02:05This is vodka. Where's my, where's my other guy? Oh, I don't know. Gee, I don't know. Wait, you're doing
02:09it. Where is it? Where's my other guy? I love my other guy. Oh, you love your other guy. I
02:13don't know. You took it away. I didn't take any? Yes, you did. Where's my other guy? You don't want
02:18me? There's my other guy. I love it. Right. Right where you put it. Right. Okay. So this is a
02:22lot. Dave. You don't want me to do anything. This is a lot of the stuff. I like to just
02:25read it. So this is one and a half ounces. Sometimes I like to put a little bit like two.
02:33Oh Jesus. So we're going to see how the difference is between me and Dave. Oh, imagine if you saw
02:40this at the bar. You were sitting at.
02:43Listen. I'm about to just pour it back in the bottle. Listen. If you saw this at the bar. Come
02:48on. When I was young. Very exciting. Now I'm old. Still to this day. One ounce of pomegranate juice. There
02:55you go. Baby.
03:00Oh, sheesh. Let me get you a bar towel. Okay. One ounce. One ounce. Here we go. There you go.
03:12We have bar towels. I bought them actually specifically. So we'll put that here. Then we've got half an ounce
03:19of Cointreau. Cointreau, Cointreau, Cointreau.
03:21You coming? I'm back. I'm here. Hey. Oh. Oh yeah. Let me clean up. I'll just clean up. I'm the
03:27uh. You're my barmaid. Yeah. I'm the barmaid.
03:31Half an ounce of Cointreau. Bar back. Assistant. Bartender. I love it. Whatever.
03:38That's about right. Oh boy.
03:44Anyway. Whatever. It's fine. It's all good. You know what? Here's the thing about drinks. Dave is very fastidious.
03:49But I'm just about having fun. And that's the most important thing. Also, I have on Claret. And so I
03:55don't know what I'm doing half the time.
03:56Now I'm going to get three quarters of an ounce of wine. So here's my dude over here.
04:01Oh. There you go. So here we go. Careful with that knife.
04:07He says that I'm reckless. You're reckless. You're reckless with a knife. Oh God. I can't even watch.
04:11I don't know. I am a little reckless with a knife. But it's fine. It's no big deal. It's like
04:18fine.
04:21No. Um. Okay. So what do I do?
04:24The room like our wine holder. Three quarters of three quarters. Oh yeah. Isn't that nice?
04:29Our curtains made that. Isn't that so cute?
04:31Show it. Show my favorite bottle of wine too.
04:33Oh. This is Dave and I went here when we were here a hundred years ago. And Trefepin is a
04:40really cool place.
04:42Really good.
04:43God, these limes are really small.
04:45Like, ooh.
04:46I mean, do I even have enough?
04:51Okay.
04:55Okay, what's this?
04:58Can you see?
05:00That's a... Oh, it's three quarters.
05:03No, it's not.
05:04Do I need more?
05:07That's an ounce. Yeah.
05:09Yeah, that's still three quarters.
05:10Okay.
05:11I don't like...
05:11I don't know.
05:12Anyway, you're only supposed to lose a little lime.
05:15Not a lot of lime because lime has...
05:17It makes you histamine.
05:19It makes you...
05:20You know what I mean?
05:21It makes you histamine.
05:25All right, then you're going to shake it because it's got juice in it.
05:29Oh!
05:31Look at you, LBF.
05:36You've got the glass still in there and everything.
05:42Where's my hands?
05:43I'm watching it.
05:44But also, if anybody's having a hot flash, very useful.
05:47Okay.
05:48Nice.
05:49Now.
05:50Now.
05:51Do this.
05:51Get rid of that ice.
05:53Sure.
05:54Nice.
05:54I'm going to take my strainer.
05:56I'm going to take this dude.
05:57Nice.
05:57He's so impressed by me right now.
05:59I'm so impressed.
06:01Look at that.
06:02You're going to put a little garnish on there?
06:03I am going to do that, Dave.
06:05I am.
06:05Look at that.
06:06Right to the brim.
06:08Who needs a Claritin when you have a good cocktail?
06:11True enough.
06:11I mean, it really makes you the same way.
06:13I had a Claritin tea last night.
06:15I was completely insane.
06:16You really were.
06:18I was.
06:18I was a weirdo.
06:19I was like...
06:19It was like I was drunk.
06:20I was like crying a little bit.
06:22I was mad a little bit.
06:23I was a little...
06:24Be careful with that knife.
06:26Oh, God.
06:29Don't take those again.
06:31No.
06:32Don't do that.
06:32There.
06:34Wow.
06:35Okay.
06:36You're going to have to sip that.
06:37LBF.
06:38It's to the brim.
06:38It's to the brim.
06:39It is.
06:40I did good.
06:41I did good.
06:41It smells good.
06:42You did great.
06:43I did great.
06:43I did great.
06:49Ooh.
06:55Is it good?
06:56I've never made one of these.
06:58That's good.
07:00An antihistamine.
07:01I can feel my allergies going away already.
07:05Yeah.
07:06So don't take clarity.
07:07That's delicious.
07:08Take this instead.
07:11Okay?
07:11Here we are.
07:13Oh, my God.
07:14That's good.
07:14That's good.
07:15Not too sweet.
07:16It's really good.
07:17Nice.
07:17Yeah.
07:18If you want a little sweeter, add some simple syrup, but I wouldn't do that.
07:23Nice job, LBF.
07:25You'll feel better.
07:26All right.
07:26What else can we do with this pomegranate juice?
07:29We're going to have fun with that.
07:30Okay.
07:32All right.
07:33Well, Bottoms Up, everybody.
07:34Bottoms Up.
07:35Bye.
07:37This episode of Bottoms Up is brought to you by Claritin.
07:42Cynex.
07:43This shoots up your nose.
07:45It's nuts.
07:46Flomax.
07:46That shoots up your nose, too.
07:47No, not Flomax.
07:48What's this?
07:48Flomax is for that.
07:49Oh, my God.
07:51Flonase.
07:52Listen.
07:53I'm saying, be very careful with your Flonase and your Flomax, because one goes someplace else.
08:00And tissues.
