00:00Good morning.
00:02This is another day of making our favorite small town better.
00:05Erin, we got to go, babe.
00:06Go fix some old sad houses.
00:08Ben, let's go.
00:09Growing up, I didn't see what was so special about Laurel.
00:12So every day we make sure our girls see it.
00:14Good morning, Katie.
00:15Hey.
00:16Can you believe we fixed up over 100 houses in Laurel?
00:18There's so much opportunity, so many unloved houses.
00:22I don't know what is going to go wrong in here today.
00:25I'm sure something.
00:27Girl, the bat just flew through here.
00:29That's not good.
00:31No way.
00:32We're about to see the house for the first time.
00:34This is the best part.
00:35Oh, my God.
00:37Holy cow.
00:38Are you serious right now?
00:40Ben, did you make this?
00:41Yeah, I made this.
00:43The real truth of living and working in your hometown is that you're going to see these people everywhere forever.
00:48It's your superpower, Erin.
00:50Color is her superpower.
00:51It is.
00:52It is perfect.
00:53Every day is different when you're renovating houses in Laurel, Mississippi.
01:05This is Jones College.
01:09We were here from 2003 to 2005.
01:11This is where we met.
01:12I saw Erin, I noticed Erin the first week of school.
01:16All four of our parents have degrees.
01:19Yep, my mom.
01:20From Jones College.
01:21Our brothers.
01:23Y'all, I loved going to school here.
01:26I cannot stress that enough.
01:28It always feels good to come back here.
01:30Go Bobcats.
01:33Ben still remembers facts from when he worked in student recruitment here as a student.
01:37On Bobcat Brigade, what year was the school founded?
01:40The school was originally founded in 1911.
01:42It became a college in 1927.
01:45The A.B. Howard Gymnasium here to our right, where men's and women's basketball is played.
01:52Six feet when I pull up on top of the dome, in a two-seater track, cash falling in my
01:56pocket
01:56when I hit up a lick.
01:57If you're a broke mother, ooh, you're making me sick.
02:00Good, let's go.
02:00Bring it.
02:01Bring it.
02:02Come on, jam.
02:03Krista is the ladies' head basketball coach.
02:06So she's called us and told us that she wants some help with the locker room.
02:09Because the locker room is pitiful.
02:12I wouldn't say it's pitiful.
02:13I would just say it's standard.
02:15I'd say it's substandard based on what she's told me.
02:18Pass and cut.
02:19Pass and cut.
02:20She was at UAB last year.
02:22More importantly to us, she is Gwen McGee's daughter.
02:27My mom, she was a softball coach.
02:30She started the first softball program at Jones College.
02:34The softball field here, it's Gwen McGee Field.
02:37I love Jones College.
02:38I was raised here.
02:40Nice catch.
02:41Great pass.
02:42Here we go.
02:43If you were a coach, you'd wear the shortest shorts.
02:45God, they'd be so short.
02:47Everyone would be so uncomfortable, except for me.
02:50What's up?
02:51What's up, coach?
02:53I began my collegiate basketball career at the University of Alabama.
02:57After my playing career, it was very important for me to come home.
03:00And that led me to coaching.
03:03How are you feeling about the team?
03:04More than half the team is new to Jones County and new to campus.
03:09So, but it's exciting.
03:11If players are at the junior college level, it means that they need a little bit more developing.
03:17We develop them to further their education and their athletic career.
03:20Well, I've asked y'all here for a reason.
03:22We're putting a fresh face on the program, so we need a locker room that matches the new energy.
03:28Our motto for our program is building champions.
03:31And so we want to give them a space that reflects that.
03:35And so who better?
03:36She has a great big opportunity here to keep growing them and their abilities.
03:40They can then go to a four-year university.
03:43And then they get a degree there.
03:45Their world really opens up.
03:47Let's go see it.
03:48She wants these ladies to have a locker room that, first of all, makes them feel like champions.
03:56Here we are.
03:58Feels like we're in a basement.
03:59It does.
04:00It's an old gym, so the space is smaller.
04:03We have some broken tiles, that kind of thing.
04:07We want to kind of get up to date with the quality of things.
04:12The school has updated colors since you guys are here.
04:16This used to be Jones Maroon.
04:18We're not the steep maroon anymore.
04:20It's cardinal now.
04:22The graphics and everything in here are still the old maroon and gold.
04:27How many players do you have?
04:29A full roster at the junior college level is 15.
04:32For student-athletes, 80% of their college experience is spent within their facility.
04:39We want to be able to create a place that they want to stay and have it to themselves.
04:43But we want a place where we can watch practice, game film.
04:48How much do we have to use here?
04:50There has been a very gracious donation of $75,000.
04:54Amazing.
04:56You've told me building champions is your mantra.
05:00Yes.
05:00If you want this locker room to feel like champions are being built, I think we have to just kind
05:06of legitimize it.
05:07This is where we go.
05:08I don't want to see any more of the gray, the black, or the maroon.
05:12Where we use our school colors, let's have an impactful moment.
05:16Cover all this tile flooring.
05:18Bring in carpet squares.
05:20And then you do a checkerboard pattern everywhere.
05:22It absorbs sound.
05:23It's comfortable on bare feet.
05:25And if there is a stain that you just can't get out, you can replace the square.
05:28And that's very simple.
05:29I love that the gym at Jones has so much of that rich warmth from the wood.
05:35I want to bring more of that in here.
05:38Vintage, collegiate, and feminine.
05:41And then lighting.
05:42Like if you had rope lighting on top of the lockers that just creates an ambient glow.
05:47Love that.
05:48So in here, paint, flooring.
05:51I don't know about something on this wall.
05:53Let's say $15,000 for this room.
05:55Where are we heading next?
05:56So we can venture towards the shower, if you want to call it that.
06:01It's more of a utility closet right now.
06:06This towel floor is pitiful.
06:08The showers are not functional.
06:10The waterworks and everything, the girls don't really use it.
06:13Do you need eight showers?
06:15Absolutely not.
06:16No.
06:16Two shower heads max.
06:18If someone were to go down in a game, we don't have anywhere for them to come off the court,
06:23be seen, be treated by our athletic training staff.
06:26Like physical therapy.
06:27Yes.
06:28You could do so much more with this room.
06:30It could be working really hard for you, and right now it's not doing anything.
06:33Right.
06:33You could add a dressing room with a little privacy.
06:35You could add a cold plunge, shower, and a one-person sauna.
06:41You could have a physical therapy table for taping and things like that.
06:46They're going to love it.
06:47You can tell this was a mosaic tile that was used in institutional settings.
06:52Right.
06:52And I like that wink back to a collegiate facility like this.
06:56Would have a mosaic, a hex tile probably would also make sense.
07:00Something that could be in more like feminine versions of the school colors.
07:04Right.
07:04So in here, 25 grand.
07:06I think that sounds right.
07:07Where are we using the restroom?
07:10Follow me.
07:11Okay.
07:12So here we are.
07:14Okay.
07:15When the bathroom stalls were put in, the toilets don't quite match up with the stalls.
07:21Once you lose all the gray, you're going to feel a lot more beautiful in here, first of all.
07:25New stalls.
07:26And then you could have a big vanity with lots of counter space along this wall.
07:31And a big mirror with good sconce lighting that makes you feel your best when you're trying to put on
07:36makeup.
07:37I'm not going to be able to get them out of here.
07:39And here, let's say 20 grand.
07:42And then you had told us you need a place for food and drink.
07:46Yes.
07:47So this area used to be coaches' offices.
07:51We have relocated.
07:52We want to give them an area where they can come and eat.
07:56A nutrition center.
07:57Yes.
07:58Yes.
07:58Exactly.
07:58That's a good way of putting it.
08:00The room is plenty big to make something way more useful.
08:03Like, you could build a run of cabinets along that wall.
08:06I think it would be fun to use colorful tile and the backslash that is a wink back to the
08:11school colors.
08:12For smoothies, you need fresh ingredients.
08:14You would have to have a bigger fridge than a dorm fridge.
08:17Some shelving.
08:18A sink.
08:19A little table to sit and eat.
08:21Beautiful.
08:22It's not a full kitchen build-out.
08:2515 grand on this.
08:26Whatever, yeah.
08:27Whatever's left.
08:28Using that.
08:28Whatever's left.
08:29To make it as good as possible.
08:31Well, I'm so appreciative.
08:33If possible, we would love to be able to get this thing going and have it done by our first
08:39outing.
08:40When's the game?
08:41In about eight weeks.
08:43That's pretty typical for us, but it's usually houses.
08:45Um, so, by the way, while I have y'all here, my house has become an open door for these
08:54young women.
08:55We want to be a family away from home for them.
08:59My husband, Cole, has become a professional chef.
09:02Is he the team chef?
09:03In all of this.
09:06When I go to a house, I feel at home.
09:09We always echoed ourselves.
09:11Singing, dancing.
09:13It's good.
09:13One time, me and my teammates had a rap battle.
09:15It was all good vibes.
09:17We all just end up laughing.
09:18We eat, coke, and cook.
09:21I ate his chili the other day.
09:23Delicious.
09:24I'd love for you to come by my house to take a look.
09:28So, a non-school project.
09:29A non-school project.
09:31We want a deck.
09:33What do we think?
09:34We know houses.
09:35Yeah.
09:35This is very different.
09:37This is different and unusual.
09:38But houses are easy.
09:40I know all about houses.
09:41Are you sure?
09:42Yeah.
09:47All right.
09:48In five minutes, we have to actually start Demma.
09:52Early shot.
09:54Aaron and Katie and I all went to Jones.
09:57We all love Jones.
09:58Katie played basketball in high school.
10:00So, this is especially special to her.
10:04It's especially special?
10:05Mm-hmm.
10:06Does that work?
10:06Yeah.
10:06Okay.
10:07Y'all look fantastic, but we've got to practice.
10:11Five more minutes.
10:12If you make it, you get five more minutes.
10:15From anywhere?
10:16It's got to be a three-pointer.
10:17Come on.
10:18Come on, Ben.
10:20A lot of pressure.
10:21Here we go.
10:24Five more minutes!
10:25Yes!
10:27It was a bad idea, probably, to hire us to work on a project in a basketball gymnasium.
10:33All right.
10:33Go out on top.
10:37What's this?
10:39We have eight weeks, starting today, to finish this locker room.
10:42I feel pretty good about it.
10:43But we've never done a locker room before, so we'll see.
10:47Welcome to Wintersville.
10:50Got a lot of marketing to remove.
10:52A lot of graphics are coming down.
10:54We are not going to revinylize this locker room.
10:57Vinyl has its place.
10:58And it's a little too much right now.
11:01Less is more on the vinyl.
11:03This is the vinyl countdown.
11:06Are you going to make it happen today?
11:08Will you just settle for another debate?
11:10It feels like a basement.
11:12It feels very masculine.
11:13And so, what's opposite of that?
11:15Keeping it fresh, light, modernize everything.
11:19But I also want it to have warmth and feel a little nostalgic.
11:24So, today's the day.
11:25I'm going exploring.
11:27Oh, boy.
11:29So, this room is kind of like a giant time capsule.
11:34Kind of a hodgepodge of old things that the college has collected within the gym walls.
11:41She also said that it's kind of a garbage room, just kind of a junk room, which has really got
11:46my attention.
11:48Thanks, Coach.
11:51Good luck.
11:52There is so much.
11:54I am so excited.
12:01This is an attic in the basketball gymnasium that's been there since the 50s.
12:10Come on.
12:11It's something bigger.
12:14So, I'm finding tear-away pants.
12:16I'm finding jerseys for the lady basketball team.
12:20They don't really fit me.
12:21But it doesn't mean I'm not going to try.
12:24One medicine ball.
12:25A gigantic one.
12:26It's the biggest medicine ball I've ever seen.
12:28Trophy.
12:29Trophies.
12:30Mississippi Junior College Association champion, 1980 and 81.
12:35That's cool.
12:37Some cool old JC stuff.
12:42But he found one thing that was useful to me.
12:47Oh, that's cool.
12:48This is maple.
12:49This is an old basketball court.
12:52It's very interesting.
12:53It was for if they needed to patch the floor or something.
12:55They had extras left over.
12:57They're in bundles.
12:58What are we going to do with them?
13:00Something.
13:01Something.
13:02Something awesome.
13:14We're going to go to Trista's house to talk about what project she wants us to work on.
13:18I understand it is a deck.
13:22We've driven by their house.
13:24A billion times.
13:25A billion.
13:26Daily we pass their house, but I've never been inside.
13:28Apparently, Trista and Cole's house is not set up for hosting the team.
13:32We met.
13:33I had a master plan.
13:35I hit him with my bike on campus.
13:39She did hit me with her bike.
13:40I wrote off and immediately texted my roommates and was like, I just met my future husband.
13:50We've been married for five years, and we have a beautiful baby girl who is about to be one.
13:58Good job.
13:59Good job.
13:59Her name is Andy.
14:01The whole house is beautiful.
14:02It's very well taken care of.
14:04This kitchen is gorgeous.
14:07This is so great.
14:08I love a range in front of the window.
14:10But the kitchen is tight for, if you think about basketball players coming over.
14:16The whole team is coming.
14:17How many people is that?
14:1816, 17.
14:20You've been described to me as the chef in the house.
14:23Absolutely.
14:24What kind of stuff do you like to cook?
14:26You know, meat.
14:27Okay.
14:27And the sides that you need to go with the meat.
14:31Like, where are you grilling?
14:32Yeah.
14:33Down the stairs, across the basement, out the door.
14:37And I grill downstairs outside.
14:39Okay.
14:39But there's French doors here.
14:41Right.
14:41Yes.
14:42The doors to nowhere.
14:43I mean, there's got to be at least stairs.
14:45There is nothing.
14:46There is not.
14:47Nothing.
14:48We are just a balcony, if you will.
14:53Mm-hmm.
14:53Rapunzel moment.
14:55Yeah.
14:55Please be careful.
14:56You're a little tall for that.
14:57Please get away from it.
14:58They have a one-year-old daughter.
15:00The doors to nowhere will become increasingly challenging.
15:04We want a deck.
15:05It's an extension from the kitchen, more area for the girls to be good, fresh air.
15:11And it'll be a place for me to grill.
15:13Yeah.
15:13Yeah.
15:14Yeah.
15:14But it's the least expensive way for them to add square footage to their house, to what they can use.
15:20Would you want to keep these stairs or lose them?
15:23They are not my favorite thing about the house.
15:26Okay.
15:27Okay.
15:27They're very narrow and a little difficult to get up and down with a car seat, groceries, a baby.
15:34This is our door to nothing.
15:36What were the doors for?
15:38The kitchen was redone.
15:40We're not sure if maybe they put the doors in then and had a phase two that didn't get completed.
15:46When I think of a deck, it's like $10,000 max.
15:49This is not that, though.
15:50This is more than that.
15:51It's got to be really tall, so it's going to need serious structural support on the ground.
15:56I think make the most sense if you come off the doors to nowhere.
16:00We come out to here.
16:03We have a really generous amount of square footage up there, so you can host the whole team.
16:08And wrap around to the kitchen door, we would just cover up those narrow, scary stairs.
16:14Yeah.
16:14Loved.
16:15Okay.
16:16You're going to have a staircase that would allow guests to enter.
16:20A carport.
16:22I think that's everything.
16:23We're adding well over 500 square feet of living space.
16:28Yeah.
16:28Plus parking, $35,000.
16:31$35,000 absolutely feels like a lot of money to spend on a deck.
16:35But we get a lot more than that with it.
16:39This is a big project, but it won't slow us down on the locker room.
16:43How's that going, by the way?
16:45It's great.
16:45Great.
16:46Okay.
16:46Nothing.
16:47That's exciting.
16:47Look, I've tried not to peek.
16:49I have not peeked so far.
16:50Don't do that.
16:51I've not peeked.
16:53I've tried not to do this.
16:55Let's be lazy.
16:57Lazy arms to be lazy.
16:59Okay.
17:00So this is for the nutrition center, and it goes on this back wall, correct?
17:05It is the nutrition center.
17:07All right.
17:07Let's move it in there.
17:08Oh, we can try it, but I don't think it's going to go.
17:11Not going to go into the room?
17:13If you want to, we'll go look and see.
17:15Okay.
17:15Show me what it is.
17:16I don't understand why it won't fit.
17:20Is it this is the problem?
17:22Uh, yeah.
17:26How long is that cabinet?
17:2896 inches.
17:29And this is not 96?
17:31No.
17:31This is 89.
17:33You are correct.
17:35The math doesn't work.
17:36I just want to try.
17:37Well, that's fine with me.
17:39I love it.
17:39So that Mr. Gregg can say, I told you so.
17:42It's not that I don't believe Gregg's measuring.
17:45He's proven that he can do it time and time again.
17:47Just want to see it with our own eyeballs.
17:49Let's just make sure.
17:49Let's just check.
17:52Ain't no way.
17:55Short of the cabinet becoming a shapeshifter, it's not happening.
17:58Correct.
17:59You can go ahead and say it, Mr. Gregg.
18:01I hate doing that, but I told you so.
18:04Yeah.
18:04All right.
18:06So what's the solution?
18:08We got to cut the cabinet.
18:09To get it in.
18:10You want to cut this cabinet?
18:12Yeah.
18:13We only have one little scene that's cut on the thing.
18:16Everything else will be cut and put back together.
18:17You won't even see none of that.
18:19Is that a thing that you do?
18:21Not normally.
18:22I don't like to do it, but it's all good.
18:25They're going to have a home game in a couple weeks,
18:27and I just feel like we're really not very close.
18:30So Gregg is not taking this cabinet back to his shop.
18:33We're going to cut it right here.
18:35All right.
18:35Let's cut it.
18:36I'm ready.
18:39It is what it is.
18:40That cut.
18:40Nothing you can do.
18:42Brand new custom cabinet.
18:46You just cut it.
18:47It just really hurts my feelings.
18:49Don't that look neat, though?
18:50Yeah, it's very clean.
18:51Now what happens if this don't fit?
18:53If I tell you it's going to fit, it's going to fit.
18:59I got the caboose.
19:01There you go.
19:02Right on time.
19:04We're passing this together.
19:05Put the pocket screws in there.
19:07Mm-hmm.
19:08Plus put glue on.
19:09Plus put a board on it.
19:10Then I put a board on the backside.
19:11You talking about strong.
19:13And then just wood putty and paint.
19:14Yeah.
19:15It'll be just as good as new.
19:34The deck that we're building on the back of Tristan Cole's house is going to be huge.
19:38So today we've got a truck coming in with an excavator.
19:41We're going to demo everything where the deck is going and just give us a good pad where
19:45we can start building.
19:53Aren't these cool?
19:54These are cool.
19:55These are cool.
19:56They're kind of heavy.
19:57All right.
19:57Have a seat, boys.
19:58Okay.
19:58I feel like we're pretty good teammates.
20:00My brothers and I are not that competitive.
20:02No, uh-uh.
20:03It's hard to be competitive when you're better than everybody else.
20:07What's the game plan here, coach?
20:09I want to cover this wall.
20:11Yeah?
20:11With this parquet flooring we found in the attic.
20:14What's the pattern going to look like?
20:15It'll be like boom, boom, boom, boom.
20:20Yeah, like parquet.
20:21Like a parquet floor.
20:22All the way to the whole wall.
20:23Yeah.
20:24And then Aaron wants to applique like a vinyl wrap.
20:28Cats.
20:29On it.
20:30Okay.
20:31I like it.
20:32So let's go ahead and get them up there.
20:34So we're just going to start.
20:35See what happens?
20:36See what happens.
20:37I think we need a go team.
20:39Cats on three.
20:39Cats on three.
20:40One, two, three.
20:41Cats.
20:41If you gotta let me down, make it easier this time.
20:47It is going together really awesome.
20:49It's gorgeous.
20:50That is so cool.
20:52I thought it was going to be in squares.
20:54You said parquet.
20:55No, they're individual pieces.
20:57Yep.
20:57Oh.
20:58It's bringing quality and warmth to the room, which is something we lacked greatly.
21:03So we're bringing more wood back into the room.
21:06It'll be really cool.
21:08Tense.
21:11Hey.
21:12How you doing, Aaron?
21:13I'm good.
21:14Well, I hear you want some mosaics.
21:16Yes, I do.
21:17And I know you're looking at this floor thinking, what am I supposed to do with this?
21:21What in the world you got going on in here?
21:22I know.
21:22It's awful.
21:24We're going to have to go into overtime.
21:27Building champions takes time.
21:29Oh, God.
21:30This is wonderful.
21:31This is wonderful.
21:34It's a hot mess everywhere in here.
21:36Like, we had eight showers in the room, but it's going to be a wellness room.
21:40We're going to have, over here, a cold plunge tub, a shower here, a sauna here, and then
21:47a physical therapy table for taping ankles and stuff.
21:50Wet room, a lot of water.
21:51Yes.
21:52So I got a lot of repairing to do on the mud bed.
21:55So we're looking at several days just getting this ready.
21:58So much prep.
21:59The floor looks like the surface of the moon.
22:02He's going to have to find a way to make it all smooth and level before he can even
22:07think about beginning tile, and we're a long way from that.
22:09We just need to know what color you want.
22:12Yes.
22:12I decided on colors, finally.
22:14I want to do hex in biscuit everywhere.
22:17Okay.
22:18And then flowers in passion.
22:20Just the petals in this color.
22:22That would be nice.
22:23I don't get to do flowers very often.
22:25Yeah.
22:25I wanted it to be institutional grade and nostalgic.
22:30But more feminine than what was here.
22:34I want to do the same floor in the bathrooms also.
22:38Okay.
22:39So you got more than this.
22:40Yeah.
22:41Great.
22:42I feel like the other floor is in a little better shape, though.
22:45Okay.
22:46Kind of.
22:46Good morning.
22:47A new day is dawning.
22:49A new swag, a new bag is calling.
22:51Stocks soaring, my lips are pouring.
22:54Life is good.
22:55Good morning.
22:56Good morning.
22:57A new day is dawning.
22:58Wake up.
22:59Get up.
23:00Good morning.
23:01Stocks soaring, my lips are pouring.
23:03Life is good.
23:04Good morning.
23:05So we just got here.
23:07And we all know what to do.
23:08So nervous.
23:09Yeah, exciting.
23:10Gonna have so much fun.
23:11Yeah.
23:12We talking to Ben, y'all.
23:13Say hi, Ben.
23:14Hi.
23:15That's Ben.
23:16It's time for the team to give back to Coach W's house.
23:22Y'all go over to Coach W's house much?
23:24Yeah.
23:25They be cooking for us and stuff.
23:26When I first met Coach Trista, I had a very dark cloud over me just all around in my life.
23:33And I feel like when I first got on the phone with her, she had a light that not a
23:37lot of people have.
23:38She believed in me when I wasn't even believing in myself.
23:42She takes good care of you.
23:43She cares.
23:44She pushes me every day to be my best.
23:46She believed in me on and off the court.
23:49Like, she saw me more than just a player.
23:51She saw me as who I was.
23:54Hey, Coach W's house, we're building a back deck, okay?
23:58So when y'all come over, you'll have a little more room to spread out, hang out.
24:04What I'm wanting to do today is work on a big round table that y'all can all hang out
24:10around.
24:10Okay.
24:11Okay?
24:11And then underneath it, I have this idea for a base that will look kind of like an upside-down
24:17basketball.
24:19Like the net.
24:20Okay? Like the net.
24:21Okay, okay, okay.
24:23That's neat.
24:24What do you think?
24:24Yeah, I like it.
24:26All right, let's go.
24:31Oh, okay.
24:33Okay.
24:33Get it now?
24:35Yeah.
24:36So we got point guard, TL, and shooting guard.
24:38We've got power forward, Anna Patrice, and we've got center, ZayZay.
24:43This is a dominant three-on-three team.
24:45What do you post players?
24:46You're going to post that right here, and you're going to cut these.
24:49Who wants to run this?
24:50I want to run it.
24:56I think Trista is going to love this.
24:58It's going to be great for the team to hang out and all that, but also the fact that the
25:03girls helped with it, it's going to be awesome.
25:08We have a surprise for you.
25:10It's a very good time.
25:12We have a surprise.
25:13And we love you.
25:14A lot.
25:14We want you to know, man.
25:15And we appreciate you.
25:31Check this out, Katie.
25:33How awesome does that look?
25:35I am obsessed.
25:37It is so cool and collegiate and Tweety.
25:39I'm obsessed with it.
25:41I want to thank both of y'all because this is really soft on my knees.
25:44That's true.
25:44You had a horrible time in here.
25:46That's right.
25:46After days and days of agony.
25:49The flowers are everything.
25:51Flower power's got it going on.
25:53This would look just as good in a house bathroom.
25:56Slowed us down, but it looks good.
25:59It does look good.
26:00I really wanted those flowers.
26:02I really wanted that mosaic tile.
26:04I know that the mud bed was a huge nightmare and a pain.
26:07And making mosaic flowers in a hex tile floor is extremely time consuming, as it turns out.
26:14But we also have other delays.
26:16We don't have our toilets.
26:18We've got custom doors coming for the toilet stalls for the front.
26:22The oak doors.
26:23Uh-huh.
26:24We don't have our cold plunge.
26:25We kind of have a list of things that we don't have right now.
26:30We're going to have to go into overtime.
26:34I'm sure of it.
26:35We're going to have to wait.
26:37We need another week, and I think we can get it done.
26:40We really don't have a bathroom or a wellness room to show them.
26:43We would have the locker room to show them, and that's just not enough.
26:46Do you want to go talk to Trista with me?
26:48Okay.
26:49She's here.
26:52Here we go.
26:53Here we go.
26:54Quick, quick, quick, quick, quick.
26:57Hey!
26:58I did the two-hand wave, too.
27:01That's not me.
27:02That's the whole thing.
27:03How are y'all?
27:04What's going on?
27:06Oh, just, you know, working on building champions.
27:09Oh, we love it.
27:10It is looking...
27:11Really good.
27:12So good.
27:13Okay.
27:14Gorgeous.
27:15Okay.
27:16But you're here talking to me.
27:18There have been...
27:19Some delays.
27:20Some delays.
27:21We don't have toilets yet.
27:23Need those.
27:24We need another week.
27:27Is this going to cost more money?
27:31Nope.
27:32No.
27:32Okay.
27:32We should be fine.
27:33We just need more time.
27:34That really only puts us out of a spot for one.
27:38One game.
27:39One game.
27:39But we're almost finished with the deck.
27:42Really?
27:43So we'll be done at your house.
27:44We'll be out of your hair.
27:45We may just have to get dressed at the deck and then come show up for the game.
27:51Okay.
27:51I'm sorry, though.
27:52I'm sorry.
27:52I promise it's going to be worth it.
27:54Don't tell your mom.
27:55I won't.
27:55I will not.
27:56I don't want her to be mad at me.
27:57One, two, three.
27:59Woo!
28:04I love to rest for you.
28:06So let me do my job.
28:09All right.
28:10We're going to finish the deck.
28:11Mm-hmm.
28:11We're going to finish the locker room.
28:13Mm-hmm.
28:13And we're going to finish strong.
28:17All right.
28:18We got something to talk about in here.
28:19Yes, we do.
28:20I got a lot of questions.
28:21Yeah.
28:22I got what you call daily being confused.
28:25I know you are because I, we want to do an ombre backsplash.
28:30Okay.
28:30Which means a color gradient.
28:33And I thought it would be fun to use like the old Jones color, something that's close to the new
28:38Jones color,
28:39and then end on a sunsetty peachy orange at the top.
28:44Yeah.
28:44I love these colors.
28:46They are sporty.
28:47That's what I'm talking about.
28:48Yeah.
28:48I think of that building in downtown Laurel that's like got the, it's got stripes and like red, yellow, aren't.
28:56Do you know what you're talking about?
28:57We're doing a lot of cream, a lot of like neutrals everywhere so that we can have moments of like
29:04go team.
29:04Right.
29:05Color.
29:06Do you feel less daved and confused?
29:08Yes, I do.
29:09Okay.
29:09We're going to make it.
29:10We got this now.
29:11Yeah.
29:14We don't have a locker room to show Trista yet.
29:16But we got a big deck.
29:17And it is really nice.
29:21The team came so we can surprise her with dinner.
29:26Cole's going to cook.
29:28Are you ready to get your life back and get your windows back?
29:32I'm so excited.
29:33Have you been peeking?
29:34I have not.
29:35I have not.
29:36Oh, we covered up all the windows.
29:38We have bought into the surprise.
29:40So we're excited.
29:42Let's do it.
29:42I know how to start here.
29:45Here we go.
29:46Ready?
29:49Oh, this is so good.
30:01This is beautiful.
30:03Is it enough space?
30:04Oh, my gosh.
30:07This is beautiful.
30:09Is it enough space?
30:11Yes.
30:11Okay, good.
30:13Look at the food.
30:14Did you make it?
30:15Yeah.
30:16Okay.
30:17They did make the table.
30:19What?
30:20Oh, that is a very nice table.
30:22Stop.
30:23I'm going to cry.
30:25They helped you with this?
30:26Yes.
30:27How were they?
30:28They were great.
30:29There was a lot of selfie videos happening.
30:32I'm sure.
30:32I'm sure.
30:33It's beautiful.
30:35Do you all remember what the wood is?
30:36It's Spanish wood.
30:37It's Spanish cedar.
30:39That's right.
30:39It's Spanish cedar.
30:40Spanish cedar is a lighter weight wood, but also it'll hold up forever out here.
30:43I love it.
30:44It's an upside down basketball goal.
30:46I love it.
30:48Wait, do we get to keep this?
30:50Yeah, it's yours.
30:50Oh, that's cool.
30:53Cole gets to keep the table.
30:56It's like you didn't know how this works.
30:58You didn't know you give people furniture that you make.
31:01I love the color.
31:02It's the color of your shutters.
31:04I love it.
31:04I mean, we ultimately decided a gate right here.
31:07Yes.
31:07Made enough sense when you have kids.
31:09Perfect.
31:09Exactly.
31:10The functionality.
31:12Wide stairs that I feel like I can get up with a one-year-old in hand.
31:15On your hip.
31:17There's also the gate in your carport.
31:20Oh, yeah.
31:21And so...
31:21Our carport.
31:23So you have a two-car carport.
31:25I love it.
31:26That's why it's massive.
31:28So you would have two-car spaces.
31:30I mean, it'll hold up an entire basketball team.
31:32Oh, yeah.
31:33Now that I've seen this, I feel better about how to locker room attorney.
31:36Yeah.
31:36Okay.
31:36There you go.
31:37You have trust now.
31:38Yeah.
31:39Just a little.
31:40A little bit more.
31:42Not sure why they doubted them in the first place, but...
31:45Yeah.
31:45But now the proof's in the pudding.
31:47All right, Will.
31:48This is the appetizer, right?
31:50Sure.
31:50Cole's got the main course coming up.
31:52That's right.
31:52And the locker room...
31:53Will be the dessert.
31:55Oh, yeah.
31:56It's coming.
31:57I guess I'm going to go get the burgers.
31:58Here we go.
31:59Burger time.
32:00Yeah.
32:00Here we go.
32:01Yeah.
32:03Come on, Cole.
32:05Back to the locker room.
32:06Yeah.
32:07We'll get there.
32:11We'll get there.
32:16We're getting deep into the season.
32:18Yeah, it's getting cold.
32:20It's getting cold.
32:21Basketball season has started.
32:22And the second game is less than a week, but we're really close.
32:25We're about ready for game time.
32:27Oh, look at that.
32:29This is so real.
32:31The men's team is going to be so mad.
32:34They're going to be really jealous.
32:36All of our graphics are coming in.
32:38So our sign for media day.
32:41And then this is where we have a moment to use the vinyl.
32:46You sticking that on?
32:47Yes, sir.
32:48Dang.
32:49The red and Vegas gold are very strong colors.
32:53And I just want to make sure that however we use them in the locker room, it's not overwhelming.
32:58And so this plaid is born from that.
33:01It's going to be so awesome.
33:03It feels very residential in there.
33:06At first, I thought, who would want to hang out in a locker room?
33:09It doesn't smell like a locker room.
33:10We're going to have to work on that.
33:11But now I really think, like, if you're living in a dorm and you have an option to hang out
33:16here, you're going to choose this.
33:17It's looking good.
33:18We're real close now.
33:22We're down to the wire.
33:24And everything's looking good in there as far as our sauna install, privacy walls.
33:30Also, so last minute it feels like, but we're going to get there.
33:34Building champions takes time.
33:36A lot of facets to the champion building.
33:41What's up?
33:42Hi.
33:43How was the first game?
33:45Oh, so good.
33:47Yeah.
33:47Yeah.
33:471-0, baby.
33:49All right.
33:50Oh, my gosh.
33:51You are undefeated.
33:52Look, we can just hang it up now.
33:55Yeah.
33:55So I'm sorry they didn't have a locker room for that first win to celebrate.
33:59Well, is that why we're here?
34:00It's why we're here.
34:01It's tough.
34:02It's tough.
34:02I cannot wait.
34:04The players don't come until later today.
34:07They have class.
34:08For now, we're just going to show Trista.
34:09I hope she loves it.
34:11JC on three.
34:121, 2, 3.
34:13JC!
34:14Yes!
34:15Let's go!
34:24What in the world?
34:29I'm gobsmacked.
34:32This is beautiful.
34:46This is wonderful.
34:48This is wonderful.
34:51It's really good.
34:53It looks like new leadership.
34:58Oh, God.
34:59This is wonderful.
35:00This is wonderful.
35:03And I just, like, I haven't seen the rest of it, but it's just...
35:10I was raised on Jones women's basketball,
35:14and that's where I fell in love with the game,
35:16and so it's really cool to see the improvements.
35:19Y'all have outdone yourselves.
35:20It's beautiful.
35:21It's really beautiful.
35:24It feels like a museum.
35:26It really does.
35:27Oh, my gosh.
35:29We wanted it to feel like an emphasis on the heritage of the school
35:33and to feel more feminine.
35:35Yeah.
35:35To glow.
35:36Yeah.
35:37To feel like the warmth of home,
35:39because some of these girls are very far from home
35:41for the first time in their life.
35:42And we felt like these carpet squares were fun.
35:46It feels like a tweedy, collegiate texture.
35:49I love it.
35:49These would actually look amazing in a house, too,
35:51like a kid's playroom or a home office.
35:54And also, these are squares,
35:55so if there's a stain on one, pop it out, pop in a new one.
35:58Love that.
36:01Stripping the black latex paint
36:03from these gorgeous wooden lockers
36:06was huge for changing and transforming how this room felt.
36:11And on nights when you have game film nights.
36:14Oh, my gosh.
36:17The sign.
36:18Yes.
36:19Oh, it's so good.
36:20We also have surround sound speaker systems.
36:24Oh.
36:25So they can play their hype music.
36:27Excellent.
36:28It can be an experience.
36:30Yeah.
36:30And then this wall.
36:32I can't stop looking at it.
36:34This wall, this is the old parquet flooring
36:37that they had in the gym.
36:39The day that you let me into the storage closet.
36:42This was up there?
36:43This was up there.
36:43And this is all that exists.
36:47You know I love a good wood floor.
36:49It's beautiful.
36:50This should be your media wall.
36:51I think you set up a table there
36:53when you're signing a new player
36:55and it's on the news.
36:56That's your backdrop.
36:57Absolutely.
36:58This is the spot.
36:59Unbelievable.
37:00The trophies were all in that storage room.
37:03Images of the teams from the archives
37:05from the Alumni Foundation,
37:06but then your team, of course.
37:08The old with the new.
37:10Yep.
37:10They're going to love it.
37:11I'm not going to be able to get them out of here.
37:14This is beautiful.
37:15I hope that you can steal recruits away
37:18from the D1 schools
37:19because they'll visit and they'll see this
37:21and they'll think,
37:22I could come here
37:23and be such a treasured part of a team
37:26that treasures me.
37:27Yeah.
37:28All right, I want to show you
37:29what's really going to be a recruitment draw.
37:31Oh my God, I don't know that I'm ready.
37:33Like...
37:34You're not.
37:40What?
37:42Can you believe that?
37:51What?
37:53Yeah.
37:53Is this a spa?
37:54Oh my gosh.
37:58Yeah.
37:59What?
38:00Dressing area.
38:01So they have privacy.
38:03Pull the curtain for total privacy.
38:06Shower, cold plunge, sauna,
38:08taping and therapy table.
38:13This...
38:14I don't know what to say.
38:16This is like luxury.
38:19Yeah.
38:19They're not going to know what hit them.
38:22Like this is...
38:23This is beautiful.
38:25I love the floor.
38:26It's so clean.
38:28And also a tiling man's nightmare.
38:31Mr. David, like he lived here for a while.
38:34I saw him a bunch.
38:35I mean, it's gorgeous.
38:37But there is more space in the other bathroom.
38:40Oh my God, I keep forgetting that there's...
38:42There's more.
38:42For the girls who want to like go put on makeup.
38:44Okay.
38:45We've got a whole space for them.
38:46Okay.
38:47Oh my gosh.
38:49Oh my gosh.
38:53What?
38:54Yeah.
39:05Oh.
39:07What?
39:09I'm trying to remember what it looked like before.
39:11Terrible.
39:12Not like this.
39:13So terrible before.
39:14So the restrooms have total privacy.
39:17Two separate rooms.
39:18Custom oak doors.
39:19Custom oak doors.
39:20Custom oak vanity.
39:21Floating vanity.
39:22Easy to clean underneath.
39:24Here, we wanted to light it like a makeup vanity for any girls who want to fix up.
39:28And if they're posting selfies...
39:31Oh yeah.
39:31Let's make it marketing.
39:33I love the plaid.
39:35This is so good.
39:37I mean, you can basically live here.
39:39There's a kitchen.
39:39Oh, I want to move in.
39:41I do.
39:42Be better than dorm life.
39:45Your locker has a crown, by the way.
39:47Oh, thank you.
39:49I needed that.
39:50You're the Bobcat Queen.
39:52The Bobcat Queen.
39:53I love that.
39:54That is my official title now.
39:57And then, you have a kitchen.
39:58Look at that.
40:11Look at the backsplash.
40:14Isn't that fun?
40:15That's called ombre.
40:17They're all set to make a little meal.
40:19They are going to be beside themselves.
40:23I'm beside myself.
40:27This is so good.
40:29This is so good.
40:31I found this in the storage.
40:35I'm telling you.
40:47They are going to be so bougie after this.
40:50They are.
40:50They'll be ruined.
40:51I'm not going to be able to tell them nothing.
40:53Nope.
40:56They will be uncoachable.
40:58Oh, no.
40:58Yeah.
40:58I'm going to be like, line up, time to run, and they're going to be fixing a snack in the
41:03kitchen.
41:04This is, wow.
41:05Wait, we're cooking in here.
41:06Uh-huh.
41:09Well, you gave us $75,000 from the donation, and I love it.
41:15Mm-hmm.
41:15It's so good.
41:16I wanted, from the beginning, somebody to have this project that cared about the place as
41:22much as I did.
41:23Well, there is no one better.
41:25And who better?
41:25I can't wait to show them.
41:27All right.
41:28So, we'll set the lights.
41:29You're going to get music ready.
41:30Yes, I will.
41:31You want to get the players?
41:32Yes.
41:33Let me go get them.
41:34Okay.
41:34A locker room like this does put a certain kind of pressure on the coach and the team.
41:38That's true.
41:39To win.
41:40I'm expecting big things.
41:42Ready?
41:45Ooh.
41:48Ooh.
41:50Ooh.
41:54Ooh.
41:56Ooh.
41:57Ooh.
41:57Amazing.
41:57Amazing.
41:57Like, man.
41:58Yeah.
42:00Ooh.
42:02Ooh.
42:04Ooh.
42:05I think they like it.
42:06I know.
42:07I knew they were going to love that lighting.
42:09I can't believe this is a locker room.
42:12Ooh.
42:14Ooh.
42:14Oh, my goodness.
42:17Ooh.
42:18Ooh.
42:19Ooh.
42:19Ooh.
42:20Oh, yes.
42:21Ooh.
42:22Ooh.
42:22Ooh.
42:22We recruit these young women as basketball players and as athletes.
42:27And they get here and they become mine.
42:31They become part of my family.
42:33And so to give them a space that'll love them back as much as we love them, that's what really
42:42means a lot to me.
42:46We got foundation issues.
42:48It needs a roof.
42:50We got bats.
42:51It's a pain to get rid of bats.
42:53What is that?
42:54I don't like it.
42:56This house is about making it livable first.
42:59Bats are back.
43:00Are we going to have bats forever?
43:02Oh!
43:05No, no, no.
43:06This isn't our kitchen.
43:07No, it's not.
43:08No, it's not.
43:09This is so your kitchen.
43:09This is so your kitchen.
