00:15My name is Anthony Norman. I'm 25 years old. I'm from Nashville, Tennessee.
00:25An exciting time for us because we're about to go on our big retreat.
00:27And that's what you're helping out with here.
00:34Anthony, I need to talk to you right now. Father to father, I need to talk to you.
00:40Let's go!
00:45Anthony, come up here. I'm going to talk to you myself.
00:49Have a seat, my friend.
00:52Have a seat. Make yourself comfortable.
01:00Here we go, here we go.
01:02Okay, here we go. Camera's ready.
01:04Alright, Q dug out. Q dug out.
01:07Alright, listen, I just want to say what Anthony just did for him to bust into that room and to
01:13stop that deal, I mean, that took guts.
01:16The truth is that we have actually hoped that you would bust through that room and stop that deal since
01:21the very first minute you showed up at Rockin' Grandma's.
01:24Really?
01:25I told you that this was my last company retreat.
01:28Yeah.
01:29What I didn't tell you was that it was also my first company retreat.
01:35Because I'm not actually the CEO of Rockin' Grandma's.
01:40You see, Rockin' Grandma's is not a real company.
01:45Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
01:46That is not my son over there.
01:49You're lying. You're lying.
01:51How? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:53Hold on, hold on.
01:53Anthony.
01:54Y'all about to mess my brain up.
01:56Anthony.
01:57We are all actors.
02:00And this is a TV show.
02:03And the only thing that's real is...
02:05Give him a minute, give him a minute.
02:09Take your time, baby. Take your time.
02:11You know what's crazy is I've been saying that this whole time.
02:15This whole time.
02:17We know.
02:19Every time I'm like, this day, what's gonna be next?
02:22I feel like I'm living in a TV show.
02:25Oh, my goodness. Y'all are incredible actors.
02:28All of y'all are phenomenal actors.
02:31Marjorie, too? She's an actor?
02:35Yes, absolutely.
02:37Even though Rockin' Grandma's wasn't a real company,
02:40you were definitely its best employee.
02:43Yeah, I see.
02:45You showed that you had a deep affection for the family of Rockin' Grandma's.
02:51No matter what we threw at you, you kept your cool.
02:54You calmly took on the role of Captain Fun when your boss left the retreat on the very first day.
03:00Everything's good. You're gonna have a great time. You're Captain Fun.
03:02You got this. You got this. I don't got this.
03:04And Dougie. Oh, my God.
03:07You helped him every single day.
03:09He's not gonna believe me, dog.
03:11I got your back.
03:12No one believes me.
03:13I believe you.
03:14You sound like you don't believe in yourself.
03:15I do.
03:16I will back you.
03:18So this really isn't your dad?
03:19That's really not my dad.
03:21Really?
03:21That's really not my dad.
03:22Really, really.
03:23That's not my dad.
03:24But what is real is the friendship that we made.
03:26You are my brother for life.
03:27So thank you for being there for Dougie and really being there for me through this whole thing.
03:32I love you, bro.
03:32Absolutely. Love you, too, man.
03:34Anthony.
03:37Do you really like snacks?
03:39Like, is that real?
03:40Are you really gonna make a PJ snack talk or was that all BS?
03:43Well, now I feel like I have to.
03:48Hey, Anthony.
03:50I'm Stephanie.
03:51I'm not Helen.
03:53And...
03:54You was my favorite.
03:55You was my favorite.
03:59I have to tell you what you did for me.
04:02As an older person, you get pushed to the side a lot.
04:07You get in the last seat.
04:08You get chosen last for the games.
04:11And you didn't ever see me that way.
04:13You saw me as a person and not some older lady.
04:17And that means the world to me.
04:19And the amount of love that you gave everybody here made my heart so huge and happy.
04:25And I'm just grateful for you.
04:26And you are a fine, fine man.
04:29And don't you ever forget that, okay?
04:31Yes, ma'am.
04:32Okay.
04:40There's more.
04:43For all the hard work you've done for us,
04:46we would like to give you something.
04:47a final paycheck in the amount of $150,000.
04:57Yes!
04:59Yes!
05:01Yes!
05:02Yes!
05:03Yeah!
05:05Yeah!
05:06Woo!
05:09Woo!
05:10Okay.
05:12Congratulations.
05:13You are...
05:14Ah, yeah, yeah.
05:16We love you, man.
05:19And at this point, we have special guests who would like to join us here.
05:25And if it's okay with you, we would like to introduce you to the team!
05:34Woo!
05:37Woo!
05:42Woo!
05:42Woo!
05:43They're like, where did all these people come from?
05:45Where were y'all hiding at?
05:47The amount of people that went into making this possible for me to have this experience,
05:51it seemed like people were coming out of everywhere and everything.
05:57Woo!
05:58Woo!
05:59Woo!
06:00Woo!
06:10Woo!
06:13Woo!
06:15Woo!
06:16Woo!
06:18Woo!
06:19Woo!
06:20Woo!
06:20Woo!
06:20Woo!
06:26Woo!
06:29Woo!
06:30season of jury duty we had to worry about essentially three rooms and now we have a
06:35site that is ten times that size. It will be the basis of the retreat. Thinking about
06:41doing a yurt with a roof piece, I have some renders here. We need to build a huge amount
06:47in addition to the existing structures to allow us to cover the storylines we have planned
06:52as well as accommodate the entire cast and hero that are staying on site throughout the
06:56shoot. It's a massive undertaking. We're building a fake world they'll all be living in.
07:05Hi, my name is Ryan Perez. Hi, my name is Erica Hernandez. I'm Mark Sully-Senfler. My name is
07:11Rachel Colley. Hi, my name is Warren Burke. Stephanie Hodge. Hi, I'm Jim Woods. Hey, I'm Rob Latham.
07:17Hey, my name is Alex Bonifer. So I did tell y'all are going by y'all's normal names. I'm
07:21not
07:21relearning names. Can I tell you, we barely know each other's real names. Yeah, we don't know everybody's
07:26name. Y'all seem so close. Like, there was no prep work at all. Oh, there was. Lots of
07:34rehearsal. Hi, everyone. Welcome to the next iteration of Jury Duty. 202, Act 1, waiting
07:44for Doug to arrive and start the morning meeting. Uh, you guys, um, I'm going to make an executive
07:50call. I'm thinking we should probably wait for my dad before we get started. No one thought
07:54otherwise. People talk about how they slept.
08:06I'm Helen Schaefer. I've been here since 1999, which is 26 years. I was the first employee,
08:12Doug Cole. And I was surprised that people did not like the honey butter chips from Korea.
08:19I thought it'd be a hit, but you know, we learned.
08:23And at five o'clock, I'm out. I'm picking up the twins from soccer, karate. On Fridays,
08:28we go to church. Amen.
08:30Uh-huh. Hallelujah.
08:32Before doing this show, I sort of had the misconception that, like, if you show up and
08:37sort of mutter some improv, you know, within earshot of a normal person, that there's a show.
08:44Quite to the contrary, this show, it involves a very precise work. We knew that our cameras
08:50were here, here, and here. You were coming in and talking to Hero, right? Part of your
08:55job before you get into the scene is you keep talking to him, right? Right, right. Oh,
08:58that's, yeah, yeah. So you, you're talking like this because now Hero's going to talk to
09:02me this way. Right? And now I'm, now we can see the Hero, right?
09:06Your blocking has to be very precise in certain cases. It's just, I think it's just a twisty.
09:14Oh, man. It was actually more like doing a stage musical at certain points than doing
09:20an improv show, just for sheer precision.
09:23Yeah, don't do it! Go, stop. Stop the bananas here.
09:28Omar!
09:29Hey.
09:29Hi.
09:35You can face us. That'd be a funny place to pen.
09:38And we can see the pen. And then we see you like this, right? You're pulling up going,
09:42What? Oh, my God.
09:44And then like trying to move, and you kind of can't move.
09:46Yeah, Jackie!
09:47Oh, my God! What is my black ass doing here?
09:52Oh, my God!
09:54Oh, my God!
09:56Pull the top, pull the top.
09:57Don't turn it.
09:58What?
10:00Oh, my God!
10:07I almost just f***ing destroyed Max.
10:12One, two.
10:13To prepare for the battle that happens in the Doug Cappelline, Wendy, who plays Elizabeth,
10:19and I met with Charlie, who is the stunt coordinator on this. The hardest part of rehearsing for
10:23that was doing it while balancing on the inflatable course.
10:31I don't know how you prepare for that. It is really hard to stand up there.
10:34This is designed to take you. So, I mean, if you want to reach with the elbow a little
10:38bit, it's natural.
10:40Two, and...
10:41The biggest part of that cell, honestly, was then Wendy ran over to the side and got bloodied
10:47up for that reveal.
10:48Let me see it! Let me see it! Oh, my God! Oh, my God!
10:51It's bleeding! I'm bleeding!
10:53So that he didn't know that this was all just like TV magic.
10:56Did you kind of create the perfect family of Grandma's hot sauces?
11:01We have not tried this one yet. No, we tried the green, and you did not like the green.
11:07It's smoke forward.
11:09Smoke forward!
11:10Is it too smoke?
11:11It's so smoky!
11:12It's smoky as the smoke.
11:13I thought it maybe tasted like a tiger.
11:19Morning!
11:20It is day one. Enjoy it. Have a great day. Today we buy all the fun and games that we're
11:26going to get into for the next two weeks. We're all so excited to be working with everyone
11:30in this room, so thank you very much. We've gone this far.
11:33Let's have a fucking great day!
11:38Okay, here we go again. Let's do it.
11:41Yeah, Brian, hero's landed. Hero's landed.
11:44Let me see you widen out and include a piece of PJ in your frame there.
11:48Let me get a, let me get a little, a long push in on our hero.
11:54I think the conference room lights auto turned off. That's fine.
11:58Here we have probably like 45, 50 cameras. We've got tents everywhere. Everything has to be blacked out.
12:06Another false wall. We've shortened this hallway.
12:13I just, all of this for a little old me.
12:21This is, uh, what's the proper name for this room?
12:24Control.
12:25The control room.
12:26And every day there'd be about 30 people hiding in this room.
12:30Silently.
12:31And we would sneak out every morning and every evening.
12:33You know, it's crazy. Like, I was like, what? Like, we never go back here. What is this?
12:37All right, let's, uh, keep on coming. Let's go.
12:40Anthony, these carts.
12:41Yeah.
12:42Yeah, there's cameras in those.
12:45Hidden cameras everywhere.
12:46Everywhere.
12:47There were hides everywhere. Like, the garbage cans look like just regular old garbage cans.
12:52And there's cameras behind them.
12:53You're walking. There's a camera tracking you on a wire.
12:57Yeah, it was really cool.
12:59Oh!
13:01Oh, my goodness.
13:04You look right up that lens today for all five seconds and look straight at his lens.
13:10Oh, no.
13:11Yeah, when you were right waiting for the box then.
13:12No clue.
13:14I'm trying to replay everything in my mind all at once of, how, how did I miss this?
13:18How did I, you know, how, how did I not see any of this going on?
13:22Every morning when you would leave, all these people would just, and then we would go back out.
13:28I was kind of curious because sometimes, like, we would literally just go get breakfast in the morning and come
13:31back and I'm like, what the fuck are we doing?
13:34We send Hero off on a run.
13:38Then a hundred people swarm into this little area, like cockroaches coming out of the room.
13:43And then we have this quick meeting because he's coming.
13:45He's coming.
13:46He's coming.
13:46We got to get out.
13:47We got to get out.
13:48Oh, duck.
13:49Let's go.
13:50We got to get out of here.
13:50All right, guys.
13:51Super, super short because he's got a tiny run because it's late.
13:54We got to get out of here.
13:55But holy great job.
14:01100 people swarm out and then it's just the, like, 14 of us.
14:05You look at my card.
14:06I did.
14:07Yeah.
14:08Yes, cameras are down, but, like, we're still in character.
14:13Come on, dude.
14:15Boom.
14:15Oh.
14:35that was a little strange to me i was like how's the assistant right
14:38you know like i'm front and center first day you were like damn you got me from center i was
14:42like
14:47did you hear about how we almost ruined our own ending today
14:52hey how are you well and yourself good sure appreciate it of course when the notary arrived
14:56we needed him to lock his keys and his stamps in the car to delay the signing but when he
15:01pulled
15:01up and i'll just be showing you to where they're located that's nice as a window this car was like
15:07you just go over and reach in yeah she had an opening and we were like oh no marjorie we
15:12have
15:12an emergency i need her card i need you to hustle over towards the front of the welcome center
15:18hustle over towards the front of the welcome center okay so what should i do he can't play
15:23the locked bit now because the windows open on his car and he doesn't realize it so you gotta come
15:28help him asap asap run you gotta hustle down there marjorie sorry you're like oh good you're here
15:33oh good you're here okay i um hang on one second just intercept one second get him now get him

16:12roll through the window we're gonna lock the car all right because he realizes the stamps are
16:17locked yeah doug he doesn't know the car is locked yet so he's gonna have to go back and check
16:23for
16:23stamps in the car oh my god i uh i left my stamps in the car the car is locked
16:29right yes
16:31we're gonna give mvp to marjorie she ran marjorie you saved our butt yeah no problem i look forward
16:37to explaining to me what the hell just happened
16:43can we hold on a second listen to where they're going
16:49those are fire trucks there was there was something that smelled like smoke earlier
17:02that day the plane we were like we can't hold for sound we can't hold for sound
17:08three planes three helicopters that was wild it was insane we're making plans in case anything
17:13happens we need to move very quickly so everyone have a state of readiness of care in us did you
17:17guys call though like for me or yeah did marjorie i don't know if did marjorie call like
17:24helicopter was like oh when you were missing maybe i hope she didn't call i don't think
17:35oh something we should let you know is that like we had a lot of speakers in educational classes
17:40only about like three or four of those were like real people most of those were like
17:45just actors pretending to try to give advice and get jokes out of it any other questions yeah
17:50yeah can you speak about the corrosive influence of money in politics
17:56helen's eyes are closed okay just making sure we were supposed to not laugh during seminar but i
18:03failed every time i'm gonna put be a whore on my bucket list oh my god oh do not do
18:07that do not do
18:08that i couldn't help but laugh because it was ridiculous what are you doing why did why did you
18:14turn my computer off this is like the fifth time today i had a huge problem with the seminars because
18:21i couldn't stop laughing but if i was an hr representative and you hand me this i would
18:26have thought that said cheerios so that's you can learn a lot by handwriting yeah thank god
18:32my penis remained in my suit but the testicles was what i was worried about the scott norris workshop
18:38time out his balls i mean it was all shocking like we didn't know what was gonna happen in the
18:43seminars a lot of the times my testicles are black they're hard they're ice cold now the dead tissue
18:49that were my testicles i take myself i mean ian roberts was so funny it was just like he really
18:55just like pushed the buttons over and over and over without breaking push snow next to my testicles
19:02and at this point i'm like god kill me
19:07one of my favorite memories was when rob and i were making out at sagebrush and i have that earwig
19:14in
19:15and just giving notes to rob's inside of his mouth going like they're still coming they're watching
19:22they're coming oh keep going it was so funny because we you could like feel each other smiling
19:29can you see when they come back uh-uh okay amy now you have to get ready
19:37oh my goodness yo there was i mean after anthony was hitting the moves
19:41he's coming guys he's coming
19:43he's going to go from saying no to kevin down to making out with other anthony i'm just like amy
20:01no herbies no hickey no relationship and this might be uh the most unbelievable thing to you but
20:10i have two kids
20:15my position here is assistant sourcing procurement manager so i'm in charge of like um ordering all
20:24ingredients for the hot sauce oh hey um the way he acted like i believed every moment of who he
20:33was
20:33and just his personality i was just like he's an interesting character well he's your mailman mom
20:39he's not he's i don't think he's spying he's allowed to open that that's your mailbox
20:43i don't want this to come across the wrong way but are you a mama's boy uh uh i uh
20:49yeah oh yeah
20:50hey no shade hey hey don't shade i called home to my mom just as much as i called to
20:55talk to myself
20:55there's a strength right here right right
20:59and what did you think of this season's bad guys when uh true kiss showed up
21:04they were like robots honestly to me um they were just part of this big company that they all looked
21:11alike i don't really have a dog in the fight i just wish what's best for the employees i will
21:18say
21:18that i hope we don't see a big business take over and uh turn it into something that it's not
21:23my heart's been with you even though i've i've had i've needed you to hate me but i've loved you
21:28watching how you did an amazing job i still have a little bit of not really but like i still
21:33have
21:34like when i see y'all i'm like these guys get them out of here
21:38they did they did a great job acting as well it was acting because uh we're not we're not robots
21:43we actually have like souls and it felt so shitty to be mean and like to these people because you
21:48guys were so i'm shitty i'm actually mean
21:51i will say this if true kiss thinks they can just come in and do whatever they feel like they
21:56want to do they're in for a rude awakening also you might like to know that uh as they became
22:02known
22:03boy red and girl red uh we're also writers on the show
22:06oh these two yeah we got reports back you were saying stuff like man you can't write this stuff
22:14i guess you can i stay corrected
22:18so you ran away and you were like he's got to be up that mountain we're like who sent him
22:23this
22:24yeah i mean a part of me feels like he might have went that way just to go get like
22:28lost in nature
22:29like oh yeah like up in the mountain the only place i could think is like he would cross over
22:35the river and like go be up by himself in nature like up in the mountain that makes sense that
22:39makes
22:39sense that's a good point yeah we gotta find him we're like that's not part of the script yet
22:45we still got three more lines hold on we're like okay we gotta go this whole show is predicated
22:51in a way on a normal human being being smart enough and being curious enough to make all the
22:55connections and being able to put the plot together and everything and caring enough think
22:59about coming back maybe for like at least the last couple days just so that way you get to have
23:04this experience with us and then we get to have this experience with you man i've been telling you
23:07i think you should come back but you know if you're not ready to come back then i get that
23:11it was meant to kind of be like oh maybe i'll sort of come back or whatever and that invitation
23:15came
23:15almost right away it was like come back come back are you the amazing father that i looked up to
23:22yes i have a daughter okay good i'm doug jr ceo of rock and grandma you're not doug jr i
23:28did it again
23:31senile old person checking out here we go i'm doug womack you know that you're the best
23:36don't worry about it i love you it's okay it's okay my son dougie womack jr oh i love you
23:44i love you
23:45i love you i love you buddy i love you i love you love you you're the best i love
23:49you buddy
23:50take care i love you
23:54i think that's really what sold like them being you know even if this was a show everybody was acting
24:00like i still would have believed that they were related or like that was pops because they were
24:04kissing each other last one you know this is a big dude if he wants to kiss you're kissing
24:14is there anything you want to ask these guys about stuff that happened or was your face really
24:17breaking out no i'm sorry in my head i was like she's a little wild like she knows it's gonna
24:23you
24:24know mess her up but she kept going anyways when i have the allergic reaction to the crab legs was
24:29one
24:29of my favorites just because it's like you know anthony goes down the hill we had 20 minutes to

25:40have
25:40and it's because of you anthony you changed my life for real and you changed all of ours so
25:57i would like to say one more thing like i'm really still shocked and surprised is my word

26:18to me
26:20if there's one thing i can take away from the rock and grandma experience was it's not the job it's
26:25the people that you work with and the environment that you go to every day is what makes you feel
26:28like whole and makes you feel like you're doing the right thing oh yeah you had me working this

27:06but i just couldn't speak if i had a son i would want him to be you
27:19so i definitely was taking away the fact that whenever i go back to look for my purpose in
