US Military News – The Navy’s submarine force is unlike any other community in the military, a small, tight-knit group of approximately 20,000 active-duty and reserve Sailors who spend months at a time sailing deep below the waves. Between their secretive missions and their lack of contact with the outside world, the submarine community is often a mystery to those on the outside. #usnavy #submarine #submarineadventure

00:56Life on a submarine is unique.
00:59We live inside a biodome that's built for sinking.
01:06A normal day for us, so we'll get up and then take a shower, get ready, brush our teeth,
01:13shave.
01:14Eat.
01:15Kind of normal stuff you would normally tend to see, but then we work on a rotating eight
01:19hour shift.
01:20So we could be on days, you could be on nights, you could be on mids, and then you'll go
01:25on and stand your watch.
01:28We make our own water, we make our own oxygen.
01:31How long we can operate is usually based on how much food we can carry.
01:36The mission for these submarines is to be the strongest leg in the nuclear triad deterrence.

02:18Being able to have a job like this and being in the place that I am, it's a huge honor.
02:23I enjoy what I do, and serving our country is what's putting where I'm at, so I'm very
02:30proud of that.
02:32Of course it's the best part of the Navy.
02:35There's a lot of communities that think they're the best, but they've never been on
02:39a submarine, so I think they've changed their mind.
