00:00His own teammates bullied him and called him a coward.
00:02Even his superiors wanted him gone.
00:04He was strong, disciplined, and passed every part of Army training.
00:07Except one, he refused to carry a rifle.
00:10Show me you know how to handle a rifle.
00:12I'll sign here.
00:15Why don't you touch your rifle, sir?
00:16I'm not asking you, brother!
00:18But Desmond Doss wasn't afraid of war.
00:20He was afraid of losing his faith.
00:22I don't know how I'm going to live with myself if I don't stay true to what I believe.
00:26He lived by one simple rule.
00:28Thou shalt not kill.
00:30They had the energy and the passion to serve as a medic.
00:32Right in the middle with the other guys.
00:34No less danger.
00:35Just while everybody else is taking life, I'm going to be saving it.
00:38They even sent him to prison for disobeying orders.
00:46At last, he was allowed to serve.
00:48Not as a soldier with a gun, but as a medic with a purpose.
00:51That day, Desmond Doss rescued around 75 soldiers under enemy fire.
00:56Not as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a
00:56gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with
00:56a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier
00:56with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a
00:56soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as
00:56a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but
00:56as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun,
00:58but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a gun, but as a soldier with a
00:58gun, but as a soldier with a gun.
