00:03Do you feel a bit rusty? Yes, very rusty. Definitely need a WD for our day. I need some
00:10help. It's hard out there. I am very single at the moment. I've run out of swipes. I've
00:16completed Tinder. In the heart of Britain's most romantic city, Fred and his team,
00:25this is Captain Fur Potato, our matching hopeful singletons. We're getting married, Merlin.
00:31In a place where love is always on the menu. I've got a bit in your finger. You didn't go
00:36that far down the stick.
00:40These daters. You probably think I'm having a poo or something. Are searching for the one.
00:49Would you chase me around the bedroom? Absolutely. Get your coat. I'm in.
00:53For some, stepping into the unknown can lead to surprising sparks.
01:00I work in the adult industry. Do you have an office for that? I have a dungeon.
01:05But finding a connection. A love story is about to begin.
01:10Shut up! Isn't always easy.
01:13Please tell me you actually last longer than three minutes.
01:19Help me!
01:21In the end. Hi.
01:23It comes down to one.
01:25That's the same you did.
01:26Big question.
01:28Would you guys like to see each other again?
01:31This isn't a total crit, is it?
01:33This is the First Dates Restaurant.
01:45My first ever date. I asked a girl if she would like to come up the park and have a
01:49picnic.
01:52Watched the mountains and heard of us.
01:55Wow!
01:59Where do you see your future?
02:00I see myself in a good few years. I would love to be in the countryside 100%.
02:07I love getting out and about. You know, the fresh air.
02:10It's really good for the soul. It's really healthy.
02:12Bird watching is just a really peaceful way to get your mind calm, I think.
02:17Like, there's a lot of busyness in the world.
02:20I think it's important to have that, like, sense of quiet.
02:24Because I'm crazy. So being in, like, a field with nothing is amazing.
02:28And I think when I have my beautiful, organic children, and they're just running around, living their best life on
02:35a farm, I'm happy, definitely.
02:39This is Amber. She's looking to inject a breath of fresh air into her love life.
02:45When I was at school, everyone was meant to be a doctor or a lawyer, maybe a brain surgeon.
02:51And I was like, I really want to be a stay-at-home mum.
02:56I'm here to find the love of my life. Hopefully.
03:02Hello.
03:03How are you, Amber?
03:04I'm good, how are you?
03:05This was like a royal walk. Just the way you enter.
03:09Yeah, your hair, your coat on your shoulders.
03:11Such elegance.
03:12Thank you, thank you.
03:13Tell me, where do you live?
03:14Buckinghamshire.
03:15So you like the countryside?
03:16Yes, I love it.
03:17I horse ride.
03:19Oh.
03:19I pretend I'm organic.
03:21You pretend you're organic?
03:22Yeah.
03:22I love that.
03:24Being out and dating, I find it interesting seeing how boys approach you.
03:29And some, like, can't look you in the eye.
03:32Some get nervous.
03:35But I need a man, not a boy.
03:37Would you like a drink?
03:38Please can I have a nice red wine.
03:40Yes, you can.
03:42So what is your job?
03:43I was a nanny.
03:44You were a nanny?
03:45And I left my nanny family.
03:46Right.
03:47So sad.
03:48Oh.
03:48With three babies.
03:50Mm-hm.
03:50And now I am jobless.
03:52No more changing nappies.
03:53Until my own babies.
03:54Until my own babies come.
03:57And so what is your type?
03:59Tall, dark, handsome.
04:02If this was a famous person, who would it be?
04:04Robert Pattinson.
04:06I love Robert Pattinson.
04:07People say with ink, you look like somebody famous.
04:10I've had Robert Pattinson a few times.
04:13I don't really agree with it.
04:14I think Robert Pattinson's way better looking than me.
04:18Looking to sink his teeth into love is 26-year-old James.
04:24I remember, like, when I was a little kid thinking, oh, yeah, girls are this, you know, mysterious kind of
04:30creature and, you know, and then you get a bit older and you kind of get some, you know, more
04:35experienced things.
04:36Then it brings you back to that feeling of being 16, 15, and it's quite nice.
04:41Can't beat it, can you?
04:42No, it's great.
04:44Here we go.
04:46Time for a new change, new horizons, getting out there.
04:49This was not on my bingo card, but that's what life's for, man.
04:52How are you?
04:54Nice to meet you, too.
04:55Is that him?
04:56Oh, my God.
04:57Are you feeling it bad today?
04:58Yeah, I'm okay.
04:59I'm okay.
04:59Are you?
04:59Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:00A little bit nervous, but, you know, why not?
05:03What are you searching for?
05:05Someone who is up for being active, someone down for a bit of a laugh, and that can kind of
05:09hold their own and being able to kind of give it back is quite important.
05:14Please.
05:17Hello.
05:18Hello, I'm Amber.
05:19Nice to meet you.
05:20James, how are you?
05:21I'm good, how are you?
05:22Yeah, I'm all right, thanks.
05:23I'm all right.
05:24Are you getting a drink?
05:25Absolutely.
05:26I'll get a beer or something.
05:27A beer?
05:28Hello.
05:29Hello, mate.
05:30Can I get a beer, please?
05:31A pint or a bottle?
05:32A pint, please.
05:32That'd be great.
05:34So where are you from?
05:35I'm from Buckinghamshire.
05:37Buckinghamshire, okay.
05:37I like more country.
05:39A bit more of a country girl.
05:40But I can get, yeah, I can get into London, like, if I need to.
05:43And do you work in London?
05:44No, no, but I actually start a new job tomorrow.
05:46But I was a nanny.
05:48I've been a nanny and a PA.
05:49No way.
05:49For, like, five, six years.
05:52For a few families.
05:53Are you ready for something to eat?
05:56Yep.
05:57Let's do it.
05:57This way.
06:02How's it going?
06:03That's good.
06:04I think it's a bit too fruity for me, though.
06:05Yeah.
06:06I want to feel it hit the back of my throat.
06:09He, he, he, he, he.
06:13I can feel it, like love.
06:14I can feel it.
06:16Dang, dang.
06:17Hit you in the face.
06:18Dang.
06:19How do you describe the talk?
06:21I'm like a firm apple.
06:23Like a Granny Smith.
06:26A little bit of that kind of sourness.
06:28It's like, oh, I've got some sass.
06:31Like, there's some resistance when you sink your teeth into it.
06:35That, that kind of apple.
06:40This is artist Sana from Finland.
06:43She's looking to be drawn to her perfect muse.
06:48I'm a creative artist peacock.
06:51Wonder freak.
06:54I see my face as a canvas.
06:56When I do my makeup, I do full on, like, impressions of people.
07:00Here is one that's Johnny Depp inspired.
07:05I mean, I have my kooky ideas, but the right person would find me absolutely alluring.
07:12Like an adventure.
07:14Like, sitting on a magic carpet ride.
07:18How are you?
07:19Hi.
07:20Tell me, what's dating been like for you recently?
07:22Um, uneventful.
07:24Really?
07:25Yeah.
07:26There's no men in Finland, so I wasn't dating for three years.
07:29So, when I moved to London ten years ago, I probably went on 50 dates that first year.
07:35And then that didn't work out.
07:37So, I'm obviously here to, to meet a man.
07:40So, come on, tell me.
07:42What are you looking for, Sana?
07:43I am looking for a curious spirit.
07:46And I run on all six cylinders, so it would be great for somebody to...
07:50Wow.
07:50If they're not running on all six, then they can handle me at my six.
07:57So, my type, I am really weak for brown eyes, broad shoulders, someone who smells good.
08:05And piratey, bohemian, rock and roll, creative look like Johnny Depp.
08:13Why is the rum always gone?
08:20We need the eye makeup and the bandana.
08:25Hoping his pirate looks can work a bit of magic on his date tonight is Clint.
08:30When I was doing my first magic show on stage, and it was a really bad magic show.
08:36And then there was an agent who said, you look a little bit like Jack Sparrow.
08:40If you brought the costume, I could get you some work.
08:43So, I got the costume and then I started doing magic as Jack Sparrow.
08:48And it's like, it's like a really fun time.
08:51Just to be a pirate.
08:54How you doing, man?
08:55Good. I love your look, man. I love your hat.
08:57Thank you. I made it myself.
08:58Oh, do you?
08:59Yeah.
08:59Nice. Your date has arrived.
09:01If you look to the right of my shoulder, she's at the bar.
09:05Looking for love.
09:07I'm looking to meet somebody that's really creative.
09:14Really a little bit out there.
09:17Like, I want this quirky.
09:19Just there.
09:20Not, like, that quirky.
09:22There's a fine line between quirky and owning, like, a thousand cats.
09:26I'm excited.
09:27Shall we go and see you?
09:28Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:29I'll let you.
09:33Hi.
09:34Hiya.
09:34How are you?
09:35I'm good, thanks. How are you?
09:36Yeah, good. You?
09:37Ooh.
09:38Lovely to meet you.
09:39And you. You've got a nice accent.
09:40Oh, you've... I love your scent.
09:42Do you?
09:43Sorry, I'm Sanna.
09:44Clint.
09:45Clint.
09:45Yes. I like your style.
09:47Thanks. I like yours.
09:48Thank you. You're very cool.
09:49Yeah, you too. You too.
09:51Are you a musician?
09:53Everyone says that.
09:54Yeah? It's the look.
09:56I'm a magician.
09:57Okay.
09:58Yes, I do magical things.
10:00And then...
10:00You've got a bunny inside your hat.
10:02I have.
10:03Have you?
10:03Could you imagine?
10:04Oh!
10:06Have you been to Bath before?
10:07No, it's my first time.
10:08But it felt like...
10:10It felt like Italy a little bit.
10:11Yeah.
10:11Is that weird?
10:12Yeah, yeah, like Verona.
10:13I was watching Romeo and Juliet last night.
10:15Oh, okay.
10:15And they're in Verona.
10:17Sounds so bad.
10:18You know, like, people like watching documentaries about, like, serial killers and that.
10:22I like hearing about bad dates.
10:23Do you like serial killers as well?
10:25Because I'm a bit like a...
10:26I'm a little bit of a serial killer encyclopedia.
10:29So, what's your...
10:31Can't say favourite serial killer, can I?
10:33Jeffrey Dahmer.
10:37What's it?
10:37Wait, you were telling me what else you're into.
10:39I'm a closet nerd and, like, a massive, like, anime fan.
10:43Star Wars and stuff like that.
10:44Yeah.
10:44Okay.
10:46What are you interested in?
10:47Like, what about music?
10:48I like listening to songs.
10:51Do you go out raving?
10:52No.
10:53Okay.
10:53Oh, my God, no.
10:55I write songs as well sometimes.
10:56Oh, wow.
10:57That's cool.
10:58I taught myself in lockdown.
11:00Did you do anything in...
11:01I learned how to horse ride.
11:02Oh, no way.
11:02I share a horse with my friend.
11:04Oh, sweet. Okay.
11:04Yeah.
11:05Um, I'm actually not allowed to currently see him.
11:08Um, my horse.
11:09The horse I was going to want a friend.
11:10Because...
11:10No, because I, um...
11:12I broke up with my ex-boyfriend and the horse lives on the farm.
11:16We met during school times.
11:18And we parted ways because being a nanny made me realise what I wanted in my future and what I
11:23wanted with children.
11:24And so did he.
11:25And it was two different things.
11:27We were scattered for a long time.
11:29Oh, really?
11:29Like, how long?
11:30Seven years.
11:32Okay.
11:32So, like, a good and hard time.
11:35My parents had kids by the time they were 25.
11:38I was really lucky to have my mum at home with me.
11:41But I used to then say, okay, when I want children, then I would want to be the same as
11:44my mum.
11:46What's the dream outcome for this day?
11:50Like, a massive rock on this thing.
11:53When's your birthday?
11:5520th of April.
11:56Oh, that's nice.
11:58Everyone in my family is in April apart from me.
12:00Nice.
12:01So, green flag.
12:02Wait until I tell you this next bit.
12:04I have the same birthday as Hitler.
12:07Oh.
12:09So, that's kind of like a red flag.
12:11But I've got no...
12:12I wouldn't shout that out.
12:14I've got no connections to the man at all.
12:17Shall I tell you an hour later that I'm Jewish?
12:21Okay.
12:23We'll move on.
12:33I think I'm going to have to get a steak.
12:36What do you fancy?
12:37I was thinking, like, a chicken burger.
12:39I eat, like, chicken with a ton.
12:41Yeah, I can see you as a chicken boy.
12:43Are you calling me a coward or something?
12:45You just called me a chicken, basically.
12:47You're eating chicken.
12:51So, I'm, like, really weird.
12:53I don't like cheese.
12:54Okay.
12:55Just don't know the taste of it.
12:56Oh, yeah, it's fine.
12:57But don't worry.
12:58Zero judgment.
12:58Honestly, that's, like, so refreshing to hear.
13:00Can I just say...
13:02Hello.
13:02How are you?
13:02How are you doing?
13:03Good.
13:03How are you?
13:04I'm really well.
13:05Good.
13:06Anything particularly eye-catching?
13:09I think we're both feeling steak.
13:11Yeah.
13:11Nice.
13:12Is that because I called you a chicken boy?
13:13Yeah, that's it.
13:16I hope you don't mind my saying sorry.
13:18Do you know who you really look like?
13:20Yeah.
13:20If you get this all the time.
13:22You know the geezer from Twilight?
13:23Yeah.
13:24Do you know what Robert Pattinson?
13:25Yeah, yeah.
13:25I said that he was my celebrity crush.
13:27Did you really?
13:28When I...
13:30Do you know the vibe that you're giving me?
13:32Do you like Kate Middleton?
13:33That's it.
13:33I'll take that.
13:34I love that.
13:35Very sophisticated.
13:37Yeah, what a pairing.
13:38I'll take that.
13:38Yeah.
13:39It's all right?
13:40It's all right.
13:41So, I'm going to say something to you and take it as a compliment.
13:45Yes.
13:47You've got a pirate vibe going on.
13:48Yeah.
13:49Starts with a J, ends with a D.
13:52Yeah.
13:53I actually got down to being Johnny Depp's body double.
13:56Really?
14:00It's like Robert Pattinson.
14:01Yeah, that's so funny that she said that.
14:03Because I literally, I was like, yeah, he would be my celeb crush.
14:06Yeah.
14:07There we go.
14:07Now the green flag.
14:08There we go.
14:09Well done.
14:10Wait, but keep on telling me about you.
14:12Obviously, like, well, it's travelling.
14:14Okay, green flag.
14:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:16Go away all the time.
14:18Well, as much as I can.
14:19You know, had a trip to Lisbon.
14:23It didn't go very well.
14:24Why?
14:24I spent with my ex-girlfriend on the plane over there.
14:28It was like a mutual thing.
14:31Oh, no.
14:31And it kind of, all this stuff kind of came out.
14:33Oh, I'm sorry.
14:34It wasn't a great break-up.
14:36I think it was over the English Channel.
14:39There was plans to, like, move in and live together.
14:41And that kind of, you know, ended not super long ago.
14:45Both kind of realised that the relationship just wasn't right for either of us.
14:49And, you know, feelings come out and things get said.
14:53But you've got to kind of get through the trip.
14:56Ended up getting a flight back a couple of, a day early.
15:01Yeah, it was, it was difficult.
15:06But, you know, so that chapter is very much closed and very much, like, kind of ready to move on,
15:12I guess.
15:14So that's kind of partly why I moved to London.
15:16So, like, started a new job and wanted to get settled into that and not be away a lot, so.
15:20Yeah.
15:21I can't be able to start a job tomorrow.
15:22Sorry, it's just, I've never done sales.
15:24Yeah.
15:25Ever.
15:25You've got to back yourself.
15:26I've never done the whole on the phone.
15:28How hard can it be?
15:29How hard can sales be?
15:31Yeah.
15:31I work in finance.
15:31So I spend a lot of time, like, speaking to people on the phone and stuff.
15:34Okay, so, so, call me.
15:36Do you want me to call you?
15:37Okay, go, go.
15:38Let's pretend that this is.
15:40Hi.
15:40Hi, is this Amber?
15:41Speaking.
15:42Look, reason for the call today.
15:44Yeah.
15:44Is I want to tell you about this fantastic product that we're selling.
15:47It's for investing.
15:48Okay.
15:48What do you look for in an investment product?
15:51Lots of money.
15:51There you go.
15:52The thing with it is, it's not like.
15:54That was really smooth, though.
15:55It's just got to ask questions.
15:56Okay.
15:57You've just got to ask questions.
15:58Yeah, it flowed.
15:58I wasn't like, no.
15:59Yeah, exactly.
16:00Put the phone down.
16:01I believe in you.
16:04What is that?
16:05Is that chocolate?
16:05No, this is a passion fruit.
16:08How did I think that was chocolate?
16:10Maybe you're, you know, hankering for chocolate right now.
16:12What's your, why?
16:13Have you got go-to chocolate?
16:15My most favorite chocolates you can't get in the UK.
16:18Unfortunately, the Finnish ones.
16:20Sad.
16:21You need a chocolate dealer that brings out your car.
16:23Yeah, yeah.
16:24That's what you need.
16:24When I come back, I always have a suitcase full of all my goodies.
16:29It lasts me a week every time.
16:32Really?
16:32I don't understand the people that eat a bit of chocolate and put it away in the fridge.
16:38No, no, no.
16:39I don't.
16:40I keep going.
16:40Yeah.
16:41Till it's gone.
16:43Do you ever miss home?
16:45All the time.
16:47But I miss, I miss my family more than, than home itself.
16:51So I miss them every day.
16:54My mum and dad split up when I was three and a half, four.
16:58I always felt like my dad wasn't there.
17:01I very much wanted his approval, very much wanted his love.
17:06So when I moved to London, I was on a mission.
17:09I wanted to prove that if I was chosen by enough men, that it was okay that my dad didn't
17:15choose me.
17:17So I was looking for my dad's approval in all of these, you know, pointless dates.
17:23I tried so hard to be liked and to be chosen.
17:27And now that I've chosen myself, I'm ready to take someone else on fully.
17:36So did you say you've been to Bath before?
17:38No.
17:38Did you come today?
17:39Yesterday.
17:40Did you come today?
17:41No, yesterday as well.
17:42We could have walked past each other.
17:44It's possible.
17:45Do you think you would have gone?
17:47Do you think I would have been like it?
17:50Possibly.
17:51Possibly.
17:52Do you know what?
17:53Once I've cut my hair, I do feel uncoloured here.
17:55I feel like your, any outfit looks just a million times better.
17:59I agree with you.
18:00Do you know what I mean?
18:03Hello.
18:05How would you describe yourself?
18:07Energetic, a bit chaotic.
18:10Enthusiastic, I get told that a lot, and like bubbly, those sorts of words.
18:14We live on fascination.
18:16So I am a civil servant, but I have quite a lot of hobbies.
18:19So far I've tried pottery and stuff like that.
18:22But pole dancing is actually my main hobby.
18:2526-year-old Priya is no longer dancing around when it comes to love.
18:30So I've been single forever.
18:32People see me as just like a very single person.
18:37I've posted Instagram stories before as a joke saying, if you fancy me, tell me.
18:42And no one's slid into the DMs.
18:47So I am here because I decided that this year I would manifest finding some love for me.
18:55Nice to meet you.
18:56Nice to meet you too.
18:57You're so vibrant.
18:58I do try, yeah.
18:59What are you doing in your spare time?
19:00I'm a pole dancer.
19:02Are you?
19:02Yes, I am.
19:03I mean, I can touch my toes.
19:05I mean, look.
19:06There you go.
19:07You're fine.
19:07I touched my toes.
19:08That's pretty good.
19:09I've got like the eight-inch stripper heels.
19:12It feels like I'm like liberating something from within.
19:15But I can see that some people would frown upon it.
19:19If somebody would ever judge me for that, then they're probably not somebody that I'd want in my life anyway,
19:26so.
19:26Shall I get you a little drink while you're waiting for your date?
19:28What would you like?
19:30Anything elderflower-y.
19:31All right?
19:31Yeah.
19:32Leave it with me.
19:32I'm quite a busy girly and quite an energetic person.
19:35So I wouldn't mind someone to balance me out a bit, perhaps.
19:40I definitely am attracted to people who have their own sense of style.
19:44And sometimes if it's a bit quirky, definitely very attractive.
19:48Thank you very much.
19:49Enjoy.
19:50Thanks.
19:51All of the redheads that I've ended up fancying are always just very cool people.
19:55I do edge towards creative people.
19:59I would be down for just some cute, wholesome activities.
20:02Yeah.
20:04I'm quite a keen bird watcher, which is kind of an interesting one for me to disclose,
20:09because it makes me sound a bit like an 80-year-old man.
20:13This is Katie, who's hoping their love life will finally take flight.
20:19I can recognise birds by their sound.
20:21Like, the robin is kind of a bit of a beatboxer, so that's a good one.
20:25I think people perceive me to be quite unique and bright and vivid.
20:29I get commented on how I kind of look like a CBeebies presenter or something.
20:34But, yeah.
20:35I feel quite confident in myself.
20:37I think most people in their mid-twenties are maybe looking for something more casual,
20:42but I'm just looking for that settling down bit, hopefully.
20:47Hey, how are you?
20:48I'm not bad, how are you?
20:50Nice to meet you.
20:50Should I take your jacket?
20:51Yes, thank you.
20:53What are you looking for?
20:54Someone fun, someone nice, someone friendly.
20:57Well, I've definitely got that for you.
20:58I really just like someone who they know their own mind
21:02and they know what they like and what they care about.
21:04I like it if someone has a set of interests and hobbies.
21:07Having an idea of the person through how they present themselves.
21:11Hi.
21:12Hi.
21:13Nice to meet you.
21:14I love your earrings.
21:15Yeah, why not?
21:16My name's Priya, what's your name?
21:17I'm Katie.
21:18Nice.
21:19Thank you very much.
21:22Wow.
21:25Earrings.
21:26I know, yours are so cool too.
21:27Oh my God.
21:28Rings?
21:29Check.
21:29Yeah.
21:30Love.
21:30I know yours also.
21:31Also, I love your eyeliner, so it's red and orange.
21:34Yeah.
21:34It's a cool vibe.
21:35It's a cool vibe.
21:36I've got a very warm face.
21:37Cute.
21:38It's just very friendly, you know?
21:43I'm feeling, I'm getting the same energy here.
21:48Are you vegetarian?
21:49Yes, well, pescatarian, really.
21:51Pescatarian, okay.
21:52Oh, wait.
21:54I got you a little...
21:55Oh my gosh.
21:56...something.
21:57It was vegan, just in case.
21:59Thank you so much.
22:00That's really sweet.
22:02What are your pronouns, sorry?
22:03She-her.
22:04Okay.
22:04I'm David.
22:05Lovely.
22:06Great.
22:09So, this is gonna sound really hypocritical.
22:12You're not gonna say a cheesecake.
22:14You're joking.
22:16Sounds really hypocritical.
22:18I do like a cheesecake.
22:19I would eat a cheesecake.
22:20Maybe you do like cheese.
22:21I would eat a tiramisu.
22:22Maybe you do like cheese.
22:24He's very good looking.
22:26I fancied him.
22:27We're a little bit different.
22:29I think maybe...
22:30I don't know if I'm a bit much for him.
22:33Actually, I just don't know at all how he feels about me.
22:37I really, really couldn't tell.
22:39What's your meal deal?
22:41I feel like that's a telling question about a person.
22:44You know what?
22:44M&S, their beef and caramelised onion sandwich is my favourite thing in the whole world.
22:50Marks and Spences.
22:52There we go.
22:52There we go.
22:53Sorry.
22:58Hello.
22:59Hey.
23:03What's the damage on this?
23:06What's the damage?
23:10So, would you like to see each other again?
23:13You can go best.
23:14I had a great time.
23:16I would do.
23:17But I think it was like a friend capacity.
23:19I think it was very personal.
23:21But I just didn't get that kind of, you know, want a girlfriend thing.
23:24I just thought we got on really well.
23:26We got similar kind of personalities in some ways.
23:28I think we'd just be better as mates, I think.
23:30That sort of thing.
23:31That's fine.
23:33Good stuff.
23:35There we are.
23:36There you go.
23:37Great.
23:37You like Marks and Spencers and I like Tesco.
23:39Yeah, there we go.
23:41Maybe it's that.
23:42Big problem.
23:42No.
23:43Maybe it's down to the supermarket.
23:45Okay.
23:46See you later.
23:46Bye.
23:47So nice to meet you.
23:48Lovely to meet you.
23:48Safe journey home.
23:49Bye-bye.
23:54See you later.
23:55Bye.
24:01He couldn't give a valid reason of why.
24:04You know, he's beating around the bush like, what is your reason?
24:07What do you think about him saying that he's both Tesco guy and you're more...
24:12cop-out?
24:13Like, what do you mean?
24:14I literally said one sandwich I liked.
24:17From there.
24:18I'm going to Aldi.
24:20Like, I'm going...
24:21But that's okay.
24:22Nice meal.
24:24Free.
24:25So there we go.
24:26The joke is on it.
24:30I shouldn't have said that.
24:34What are you doing, Merlin?
24:35I don't know.
24:36Look.
24:38You're not called Merlin for nothing, yeah?
24:39I don't know.
24:40I don't know.
24:40You're a real musician.
24:41So, I heard a rumor about you.
24:45Uh-oh.
24:45That you were actually magic.
24:50We're about to be serenaded by magic.
24:53Oh.
24:54If you take out a card.
24:55It could be anyone you want.
24:57I'll take that one.
24:59Yeah.
24:59Have a look at it.
25:00Okay.
25:03Five across.
25:04I think so.
25:06But we need to pick the stable ones.
25:09And sign your name.
25:10Uh, really big on the card.
25:15If this falls over, it's your fault.
25:17Yeah.
25:19Card here.
25:20It's fine.
25:21If you say stop whenever you like...
25:28Stop.
25:30Oh.
25:31Oh, no.
25:34And that was my misdirection.
25:39Nothing broke in your...
25:40Oh.
25:41It did.
25:43If you turn over.
25:45Yeah, yeah, yeah.
25:51Oh, my God.
25:54You should do this for a living.
25:55You should do this for a living.
25:59The hardest part of street performing is drawing in the crowd.
26:03You literally have to stand on a box and talk to no one for a long period of time.
26:09And sometimes no one stops.
26:11But eventually you get two people stop and watch you and then you concentrate on them and then you build
26:17the edge of the crowd out.
26:19And when you get a really good show on the street and you're in that flow state and you're performing
26:24and you've stopped people going from where they're going and they're watching you, it's the biggest buzz.
26:29And it's the biggest buzz in the world.
26:33I'm the complete opposite of how I am on stage to how I am.
26:37And it's like, um, one of my things is, like, learning to be okay with rejection.
26:47So this was like a big thing for me.
26:49I think I'm like Marmite, so I think when you see me it's either you like or you don't like.
26:57I'd love to find someone who can get that amazing feeling, like, where someone feels like your home.
27:05Do you think I'm hard to read?
27:08I've had harder.
27:09I've had harder.
27:10I've had harder.
27:10Where did you learn to...
27:16Check your butt purse.
27:17Really?
27:17It keeps going.
27:18It keeps going.
27:19Check it.
27:20Have a look.
27:31It's not in there.
27:31That would have been great though.
27:45I'm excited now because it's spring.
27:47Yeah.
27:48And everything is popping up.
27:49That's right.
27:49Yeah, yeah.
27:50That means I can start working on my lawn.
27:54I'm a bird watcher.
27:55Oh, you were back.
27:56Oh, my God, that's so cool.
27:57And me hanging out with the 60-year-old men.
28:00I'm like a chaotic hobby girly.
28:02What hobby?
28:03I did pottery at the beginning of this year.
28:05Pottery is so cool.
28:06So I'm a pole dancer, mostly.
28:08So cool.
28:10When I started, it was more like pole fitness.
28:12Yeah.
28:12And then I got more into the dance side
28:14because I realized that, like,
28:16a lot of the pole fitness studios...
28:17Firstly, I did it because I wanted to dance
28:18and pole fitness isn't dancing.
28:20Yeah.
28:20This isn't my vibe.
28:22And then I realized that also a lot of the pole fitness studios
28:24are, like, sanitizing the roots of pole dancing.
28:27As a South Asian woman,
28:29my family definitely could have disowned me
28:31in terms of the cultural stigma,
28:33but my family are very liberal.
28:36Mum has come to every single one of my performances.
28:40She's been in the front row of all of them.
28:43It's a huge part of my life now
28:44because there's just a huge community.
28:46I felt like my confidence just increased a lot,
28:49so I felt like I could express my identity a bit more
28:52and a bit more comfortable, like, in my, like, queerness.
28:55And who do you date?
28:57Do you date, like, only non-men or do you date everyone?
28:59Yeah, only non-men.
29:00Cool.
29:00OK.
29:01So I've got my whole gamut.
29:02Oh!
29:03Like...
29:05I feel like I'm ready to let somebody in to my life
29:09in that capacity for the first time,
29:11like, to properly commit,
29:12because I feel, like, yeah,
29:14just very confident in who I am.
29:17This is the first date in two years,
29:19so I haven't really...
29:20Wow!
29:21OK, wait to come back.
29:22Like, hello!
29:23Like, dating.
29:27Hiya!
29:31Girls are good.
29:32Yeah.
29:33You have really light blue eyes.
29:37This has been real.
29:39Good way.
29:40Mm.
29:41Yeah.
29:43How was I?
29:44I really, really liked him.
29:45I mean, we have a lot in common.
29:47When he first walked in, I thought,
29:49OK, similar vibe.
29:52I think he might have been a little bit hard to read,
29:55possibly a little bit reserved as well.
30:00Thank God.
30:04So, would you like to see each other again?
30:08Should I go first?
30:10Ladies first.
30:11Oh, yeah.
30:11I'd like to see Clint again.
30:14Same.
30:15Yeah.
30:15Of course.
30:16Why wouldn't I?
30:20Don't forget your hat, your beautiful hat.
30:22Oh, yeah.
30:22Oh, my God.
30:23I couldn't read you, so...
30:25Because you said that you were hard to read.
30:27Yeah.
30:27So, I thought, was that maybe you projecting to me?
30:29Oh, yeah.
30:30I can't read you.
30:31Yeah.
30:31I think maybe it's my thing.
30:33It's a me thing.
30:34OK.
30:35Oh, my God, look at this.
30:36It's like a garden of Eden.
30:37Yeah.
30:38Woo!
30:39I think...
30:39You're a cool dude.
30:41Yeah.
30:41And I think you're layered.
30:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
30:43I'm like an onion.
30:44Yeah, I need to...
30:44The more you peel, the more it stinks.
30:46But in a good way.
30:46That was good.
30:47And you like my smell.
30:49Yeah.
30:49That was a...
30:50Yeah, yeah.
30:50Yeah, I don't stink.
30:51I don't stink in my mouth.
30:52No, no.
30:53It's a good stench.
30:54I'm looking forward to what other kind of magic tricks you've got up your sleeve.
30:59We better find a bar then.
31:01Yeah.
31:01Shall we?
31:02Yeah, I think so.
31:06I think the older you get, the more you are at peace.
31:09The older people come in, you can tell they're comfortable with themselves.
31:13Yeah.
31:13And they're gregarious and they talk to people.
31:16Yeah.
31:16And I'm just like, okay.
31:18Because of what they've got to lose.
31:19What have they got to lose?
31:22This is Chrissy.
31:25I'm naughty.
31:27Yeah, I have.
31:29When it comes to dating, she's not pussy-footing around.
31:33I do what I want to do when I want to do it.
31:36I don't answer to anybody.
31:39Don't try and tie me down because it won't work.
31:42Or else it's in the bedroom.
31:45Everything you dream of.
31:48I just hit the dating apps and I thought, well, there you go.
31:52This is what it's all about.
31:54One guy I met and he said he had a present for me.
31:56And you can imagine what it was.
31:59When did he get off giving me a vibrator?
32:01I mean, really.
32:05It was a filthy habit.
32:09How are you?
32:10I'm very well, thank you.
32:11How are you?
32:11I'm very good.
32:12Good.
32:13So have you been on a blind date before?
32:15I have never been on a blind date in my life.
32:18I am fiery and feisty and I'm spicy.
32:21But I'm not like that on a first date.
32:24I wouldn't go in like a Rottweiler and terrify somebody and frighten them off.
32:29Hello.
32:30Hello there.
32:30What would you like to drink, Chrissie?
32:32A Bucks Fizz.
32:33A Bucks Fizz?
32:34Yeah.
32:34That's okay.
32:36Do you go on many dates?
32:37For the last two years I have been on lots of dates, actually.
32:40Have you?
32:41I have.
32:42What am I looking for?
32:44Someone's got their own interests.
32:45Smartly dressed.
32:47Clean.
32:48Then a gentleman, hold your coat up for you.
32:51Pays the bill.
32:53I think those things are important.
32:55So you like your independence?
32:56Yes, I do.
32:57Yes.
32:57Do you want a boyfriend?
32:58Kind of thing.
32:59Yeah.
33:00Basically, yes.
33:01But not one that wants to see me all the time.
33:04Yeah.
33:05Almost like a friend with benefits.
33:06I'll have a squeeze.
33:07A squeeze.
33:08Yeah.
33:10I want someone that can match me.
33:12A bit cheeky.
33:15Is sex important to you?
33:17It's a bonus.
33:21God, my daughter's going to watch this.
33:23This is Jan.
33:26On the sidewalk.
33:27Oh, oh, oh, oh.
33:28Who's looking to add a little spice to his retirement plan.
33:32It would be lovely to find a lady who can laugh at themselves.
33:39A bit of wicked and naughty sense of humour.
33:42Sly.
33:43A little look at the side to say, yeah, that's really dark.
33:47Et cetera.
33:48Look out, old Mackey is back!
33:51Yeah.
33:52It's incredibly hard to be found.
33:55How are you?
33:57I'm good, sir.
33:58How are you?
33:59Good to see you.
33:59Yes, very good.
34:00Thank you very much.
34:01I like your look.
34:02You're really relaxed.
34:03Am I?
34:03When was the last time you went on a first date or a blind date?
34:06Never.
34:07Never?
34:08Never.
34:08I've been single for eight years.
34:11I like independent women.
34:13I don't need anybody.
34:15And I like women who don't need anybody.
34:18But they would like to have someone in their lives.
34:22Hello.
34:23Hello.
34:25My name's Jan.
34:26Hello, Jan.
34:27I'm Chrissie.
34:29Chrissie.
34:29Lovely to meet you.
34:30Good afternoon.
34:31May I have a G&T, please?
34:33G&T.
34:34Where have you come from?
34:35North London.
34:37I was from South London.
34:38South London.
34:39Oh, South London.
34:40You know what I mean?
34:41Yeah, South London.
34:42Cheers, Jan.
34:43Cheers.
34:44Nice to meet you.
34:45Love you.
34:46Blue.
34:47Thank you very much.
34:50Hello, Fred.
34:51Can I take you to your table?
34:52Oh, sure.
34:53Here we go.
34:55Yeah, I'll take that.
34:56Thank you very much.
34:57What a gentleman.
34:57What a gentleman.
34:58Now, come on.
34:59Stop selling me.
35:00Points scored.
35:01Come on.
35:01Where are we going?
35:03Thank you, Jan.
35:05So what do you do?
35:07A technical title is a solidarity coordinator, and it's for a disability arts organisation.
35:12Oh, my God.
35:13Yeah.
35:13I mean, I'm disabled.
35:14I just had to have a really dramatic entrance into the world by being, like, strangled while
35:19I was being born.
35:20And, like, so I became disabled because of lack of oxygen.
35:23My mum, she worked for, like, disabled children.
35:26So she knew what my diagnosis was before they even diagnosed me.
35:30Because she was like, this child seems, like, to seem to have cerebral palsy.
35:34And she went to the doctors and they were like, they did a scan of my brain.
35:37And they were like, yep.
35:39My mum is a big part of the reason why I'm so confident, like, within myself and also
35:44as a disabled person.
35:46Because she never made me feel like it was burdensome or difficult.
35:50And rather that it's the world that's burdensome and difficult to disabled people
35:53for not being set up in the right way.
35:56There was a time, I think, where I was, like, you know, insecure.
35:59And I think I just got to a point where I was like, actually, like, you either like yourself
36:03or you spend, like, what, 80 years feeling a bit rubbish.
36:06Like, why not? Why not just be like, I'm great.
36:10I'm disabled and really happy about being disabled.
36:14And I think a lot of people are quite surprised when I say,
36:16I wouldn't want to change anything.
36:18I really love the kind of body and the mind that I've ended up in.
36:22Oh, my God, this looks good. Your cocktail, is it right?
36:24Hello. Hello.
36:24It matches your vibe as well, I'm not going to lie.
36:26Look, you guys.
36:28Can you say, both of your hair is sensational.
36:31I love your colour as well.
36:31I know, I feel like I'm cheating by complimenting yours.
36:33It's very similar to mine.
36:36I love a redhead, I'm not going to lie.
36:38It's a cool vibe.
36:39It's a cool vibe.
36:40And you really pull off the shaved head look as well.
36:46How old are you?
36:48As it's you and we're here, I'm 79.
36:52You're 79?
36:53Yeah.
36:53You're fantastic for 79.
36:55I hope I can last another week.
36:57And that sounds fucking old, doesn't it?
37:01I know, I know.
37:01It does, yeah.
37:02In a couple of weeks, I will be 75 and...
37:06Well, you look bloody amazing too.
37:08Well, thank you.
37:10Probably because I don't drink or smoke.
37:13My late husband, he liked a glass of white wine.
37:15Really?
37:16So I was always the chauffeur.
37:18And have you dated since your husband died?
37:21I have.
37:21I mean, he died 12 years ago.
37:24What did he die of?
37:25We were on holiday in Crete, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary.
37:29It's the last day of the holiday and he died of a heart attack.
37:33It was all pretty shocking and traumatising, I would say.
37:38He knew me better than I knew me, actually.
37:41You just imagine you're going to be married forever.
37:44You don't imagine to go on holiday with your husband
37:46to celebrate 40 years' wedding anniversary
37:49and come home with just a suitcase of clothes.
37:52It was just awful.
37:54You don't know what you can deal with until it's thrown at you.
37:57It's funny how it slowly dawns on you that you are coping, isn't it?
38:02Yeah.
38:02Because there is no alternative.
38:04No, exactly.
38:05You don't know how strong you're going to be
38:07or how you're going to handle these things until it happens to you.
38:10But you just deal with it.
38:11You just get on with it and you deal with it.
38:13So that kind of toughened you up.
38:16Do you find it harder because you know what you like now
38:19as opposed to when you're much younger?
38:21I am fussier.
38:22I know what I like.
38:23I know what I don't like.
38:24That's what I mean.
38:25I know what I don't want.
38:26I know what I...
38:27You're kind of formed, aren't you?
38:28Yeah.
38:29I know I'd never want to live with a man again.
38:34Oh, good.
38:35You don't live with a man either.
38:37You got there before me.
38:39Yes.
38:43What are you reading about, Fred?
38:44It's a chronicle of the French Revolution.
38:46A chronicle of the French Revolution.
38:48It's really detailed.
38:49Is that...
38:50Are you going to college again or something?
38:51I'm not quite sure really what the French Revolution did.
38:54There's a lot of things I'm unsure of.
38:55Yeah.
38:55So I want to make my own mind up.
38:59Yeah.
38:59Well, how...
39:00I mean, how about Brexit?
39:03I mean, I don't...
39:04Brexit divided so many people.
39:06Yeah.
39:07I don't...
39:07I talk about Brexit and politics, religion.
39:10I...
39:11I don't mind talking about it.
39:13Fine.
39:25I don't know.
39:29I don't know.
39:33I don't know why.
39:37I saw a woodpecker the other day.
39:40Woodpeckers aren't blue.
39:42No.
39:43It was from a distance.
39:45Most birds are.
39:50Children.
39:51Children.
39:53Yes.
39:55I have two grown-up sons.
39:57And I have seven grandchildren.
39:59I have...
40:00I've got three children.
40:02You haven't got any grandchildren?
40:04No.
40:04They've seen my life.
40:07So, you're divorced?
40:09Yes.
40:10Oh, you're divorced?
40:11Oh, yes.
40:12Yeah, mum went to the other side of the world.
40:14Without the children?
40:15Yes.
40:15Yes.
40:16OK.
40:17I was...
40:17I'm not passing any judgment.
40:20Their mother remarried, had another child, and then one day said,
40:26I'm going to the other side of the world.
40:30It was like that.
40:31Bang.
40:34And...
40:36dumbstruck.
40:38And my children were school-age.
40:41So, I sat my kids down, and I said, do you want to go?
40:46The youngest was really confused, obviously.
40:50The oldest said, no.
40:52I said, we're going to stay together.
40:56And we did.
40:58It gave me an amazing experience.
41:02Of course it did.
41:03You're probably closer to your children now than you ever would have been.
41:05Last summer, there was a wedding in France, and my daughter came over to me.
41:11And she said, would you dance?
41:14Oh, how lovely.
41:17That made your day.
41:18That made your year.
41:19It made my life.
41:20It made your life.
41:20Yeah, it made your life.
41:21When a daughter comes to ask her dad to dance.
41:23Yes.
41:24Yes.
41:25That's probably the greatest compliment you can have again.
41:31Yes, how proud.
41:31How's the journey looking?
41:33It's looking like something.
41:34It's moon and jelly.
41:36I can see it.
41:36Yeah, definitely.
41:37It's proper wibbly-wobbly, you know?
41:44Uh, yes.
41:48Um...
41:48He's very nice.
41:50Do you know?
41:51He is very nice.
41:52And we've had a laugh, but...
41:54Oh.
41:56You know what I mean?
41:58Hello, gorgeous people.
41:59Hi.
41:59So, I have for you...
42:01Wow.
42:02What is this?
42:03That is...
42:03I know what you're thinking.
42:04Yeah, that's...
42:05This is actually a representative of the dome of the building.
42:08Oh, I see, of course.
42:10Indeed.
42:10What else would it be?
42:10That's a flower.
42:12Love, she is the building.
42:13Lovely.
42:15The last time I ate jelly was when I had norovirus last year.
42:19Sorry, I shouldn't say that. Sorry.
42:21Who are you snogging?
42:23I think, to be fair, now that I think about it,
42:26that might be one of the best birthdays that I've had.
42:28I think it's just rare to have that many things in common.
42:33I do definitely feel some flirty vibes.
42:35Both ways, I think.
42:42That's good.
42:45Hi.
42:48Shall we go Dutch?
42:49Yeah, let's.
42:51Dutch, okay.
42:52Would you like to see each other again?
42:54I'm going to let you go first.
42:56You're going to make me go first, are you?
42:58Yeah.
42:58I definitely would.
43:00Good, because I would also.
43:01What do you want?
43:02That's good, isn't it?
43:03I feel like it would be insane to not see you again.
43:06Yeah, I know.
43:06We're, like, similar but also very different,
43:09which is perfect, because you don't make a clone.
43:11I don't know if I talk as fast as you do,
43:13but I feel like we're relatively well-paced,
43:15so we could probably get to, like, the fifth date
43:17in, like, two dates' time.
43:20Exactly.
43:21It was honestly really one of my best first dates ever.
43:24Yeah, I know.
43:25Who asked?
43:26Like, what a moment.
43:28Yeah.
43:29That needs to go back.
43:32Sorry, Jan.
43:34That was a mile away, that toilet.
43:36Do you think I'd done a run-up?
43:37Yeah.
43:38Imagine, I've had a very nice meal, have you?
43:41I've enjoyed your company enormously.
43:44Oh, have you?
43:45That's really nice.
43:46I've enjoyed your company.
43:47It's been nice.
43:47That's good.
43:49I did ask for a gentleman.
43:51Then when, I think, Fred come to take us up to the table,
43:54he picked my drink up for me,
43:56and I thought, well, that was really nice.
43:57Obviously, I'm getting this,
43:58so we're not going to go through that thing later.
44:00Are you sure?
44:01Well, thank you very much.
44:02I appreciate that.
44:02My pleasure.
44:03Hello.
44:04Watch out.
44:06We meet again.
44:08What's my fortune?
44:10Don't give up.
44:12I would never give up.
44:13Nor would I.
44:17Would you like to see a gentleman there?
44:19Would you like me to go first?
44:20Yes, you go first, Jan.
44:22Yes.
44:24That's very kind.
44:26It's very nice of you.
44:28I'm not sure, is the truth.
44:30I thought we had a lovely date.
44:33Good.
44:33I thought you were lovely.
44:34I loved your mind.
44:35But I'm not sure it would be any more than
44:40like a friendship.
44:41I completely agree with the friendship, Beth.
44:44Do you?
44:44Absolutely.
44:45Well, that's all right then, isn't it?
44:46Yeah.
44:47That's when I thought we'd be good friends.
44:48Okay.
44:49Friends is cool.
44:49Yeah, I'm okay with that.
44:51I'm all right with that.
44:53Good.
44:53Thank you very much.
44:54That was incredibly cheap, wasn't it?
44:56Are you saying I'm a cheap date?
44:59You mentioned friends with benefits?
45:02I don't...
45:03Friends with benefits?
45:04I think we could be very nice friends.
45:07Okay.
45:07I think we could enjoy each other's company.
45:10Yes.
45:11Occasionally.
45:11Yes, I think we could.
45:13And then I would probably find another woman and you would be weeping.
45:17We had a lovely time.
45:19You did have a nice try.
45:20Yes.
45:20I was smashing too.
45:25What did you think of Clint's magic trick?
45:27I was really impressed by it.
45:28Was you?
45:29I did have one that I didn't do.
45:31You need to save that for the next time.
45:33Yeah, yeah.
45:34Yeah.
45:43You could tell me what it is in the wood.
45:45Yeah.
45:46I'll teach you.
45:47I've been thinking about it, like, a lot.
45:49Like, obviously I've been paying attention to what you're saying.
45:51But you were still thinking about the bird.
45:56Like...
45:56Si je ne sens plus ton coeur
46:02Danser dans les fers
46:03Are you flirting?
46:04Probably a little bit, yeah.
46:06Because you are.
46:07By the way, you've got smashing legs.
46:09Oh, have I?
46:10Yes.
46:10Well, thank you.
46:11When did you see my legs?
46:13Well, as soon as I saw you, really.
46:15Oh, did you?
46:15Yeah, you were sitting there with your legs hanging.
46:21S-sincrepanie.
46:22Seems like a very easy one.
46:25I thought we would do nothing with you.
46:31I thought it was in the break.
46:31It was in the right place.
46:31Yes, you are.
46:33You're still going to be there.
46:34I thought it was going to be there.
46:34May I be in the right place for you.
46:35I was gone.
46:35The one place was going to be in the right place.
46:36Yes, and I am.
46:38Okay, let's go.
46:39It's gonna be there.
46:40I was going to be there.
46:43That's amazing, my friend.
46:43Hey!
46:45Fuck...
46:46Fuck you, I'm out on the left.
