00:00Greetings and salutations gamers. This is JohnTheGamers24 coming at you with yet another
00:09Limitrun Games unboxing video. And why so soon you may ask? Well, it's perusing through their
00:16little Limitrun vaults on LimitrunGames.com. So the beauty of that is like a lot of the games
00:25and collector's editions, or past ones, are in stock. So you don't have to worry about
00:30waiting a whole freaking year just to get your collector's edition. I think with the
00:37standard, it used to be like six months until they actually made it and then shipped them out.
00:41But yeah, collector's edition, definitely well over a year. It's pretty crazy. But yeah, this was one of
00:47the collector's editions I really wanted. Well, the most expensive one, I think this was like second
00:53to last. Collector's edition, that was like the expensive one. But no, no, the top tier one or
01:02whatever, that one had like cool action figures. And you know, everything else looked cool, but I
01:09was like, eh, it wasn't really worth it. But this one I had to have because I love the throwback
01:15to the
01:15uh, PlayStation 1 box here. And I never actually owned Tomba or Tomba 2 on PlayStation because
01:25those games are so freaking expensive. I actually did have to resort to like downloading them digitally
01:31through uh, PlayStation Network and playing them on uh, PS3 and you can also download them on Vita too.
01:40I beat the first game and I really enjoyed it. I actually did an art piece for Tomba. I even
01:48did
01:48it as a commission for one of my friends too. So yeah. But anyways, yeah, too much jibber jabber here.
01:55So let's go ahead and uh, check it out. So we'll go ahead and uh, take a look at the
02:00box here.
02:02So yeah, they had me like, as far as the box art goes, and the packaging, they had me at
02:09retro PS1 uh, game box.
02:12Right here. But yeah, so freaking cool. All right, so let's just uh, take a look at the packaging
02:20before we get into the goodies here. But yeah, love the PS1 retro box. So good.
02:33All right, now we'll check out the back of the box here.
02:37The original wild child is back. Keeble pigs, man-eating plants, hidden paths, wacky weapons,
02:43moving obstacles. Can you believe what Tomba has to go through to conquer the menacing swine?
02:49And got some sweet screenshots here.
02:57Yep, tells you everything from games made through carbon engine. And I didn't know Limiter Run Games uh,
03:04was the one who did the port of Tomba using their own uh, carbon engine. So I was pretty surprised
03:12by that.
03:16But yeah, so that is the game box itself. So let's go ahead and uh, unpackage.
03:23Got my trusty scissors here.
03:38All righty.
03:43So yeah, I think this was like between 70-80 bucks for this collector's edition.
03:49I'm like, ah, I definitely wanted it. As soon as I seen these, seen the collector's editions for Tomba,
03:55I'm like, this one was the one I really wanted it the most.
04:00Although the figures in the top tier one look pretty cool.
04:05All right, got a sweet steelbook here. Nice and pink.
04:13Yeah, that's so cool. A little 3D image popping off the case.
04:20That's so cool. All right, check what else is in here.
04:29I think something's stuck on that, so let's come back. All right.
04:35We've got the Tomba special edition soundtrack composed by Harumi Fujita.
04:43Nice.
04:46Very cool, very cool.
04:51Definitely love the uh, cover art on that.
04:55Okay.
04:57Oh, we've got the standard
05:00case.
05:03Very cool.
05:10Nice.
05:13Okay, let's see. There should be one more item in there.
05:18Well, two more I think.
05:20Nope, one more.
05:22Yep, one more. Okay.
05:25So yeah, comes with a sweet poster.
05:31Nice.
05:33Oh, I think it's a double-sided affair here.
05:42Ooh, nice.
05:47All right, this side will just stay down. Great.
05:52Ooh, look at that.
05:54Give a closer look at the little map.
06:03Yeah, that's so cool.
06:04I always love like the little background with the little like, uh, purple, pink, blue,
06:10white balls.
06:11That was actually one of the basis, like, backgrounds for my, uh, painting actually, so.
06:18Yep.
06:19And then I'll go ahead and show you the other side.
06:22All right, so that's the other side of the poster.
06:26Vertical.
06:35And that little pig's having his pork butt handed to him.
06:40Uh, so good.
06:43So good.
06:44Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, I think Tomba 2 is already out, like, the physical copy of it.
06:52Maybe the collector's editions are too, but I didn't see it on, in the store.
06:56If I saw them, well, I saw the physical on eBay of Tomba 2 on Switch, so.
07:04Yeah, I might have to get that too.
07:07Nice.
07:09All right, so I'm bagged the steelbook here.
07:14Nice and shiny.
07:15Love it, love it.
07:20Oh, I love the inside.
07:23That is so cool.
07:26Love it, love it, love it.
07:29Oh yeah, let's take a look and see here.
07:32A little closer to look.
07:34Got screenshots in the background.
07:41Yeah, that is so pretty cool.
07:44Great inserts, love it, love it.
07:48All right, all right.
07:50Good old Tomba.
07:53You know what, it would drive me crazy, because my friend would call Tomba, Tomba.
07:58I'm like, dude, you're not pronouncing the word tomb and then buh.
08:02Well, even then, like, the word tomb, like, you don't pronounce the b at the end, it's silent.
08:09Tomb.
08:10He calls him Tomba.
08:11I'm like, I'm pretty sure it's Tomba, because, you know, Tom is a name, and then buh, Tomba.
08:19I don't know.
08:20I guess it goes back to that stupid ignorant tomato tomato bullshit, but I'm just like,
08:25all right, you know, say how you want.
08:27Looking ignorant if you want to, but okay.
08:33All right, and then we'll check out the innards of the soundtrack here.
08:43All right, so that's the front.
08:46Back.
08:49Whoa.
08:50All right, that's better.
08:52Nice.
08:57That's awesome CD artwork there.
08:59Love that.
09:01And, of course, we got all the credits and everything.
09:04I don't think this is like a full manual, I don't think.
09:06I think it's like a two-page leaflet.
09:10Oh, okay.
09:13Has a track list for each disc.
09:15That is great.
09:17Hell yeah.
09:19You don't get that with, like, digital, like, mp3 files and all that.
09:26That's what I miss about, like, CDs, man.
09:30All the track lists.
09:32Gee, even some of the song lyrics would be in the books.
09:36In the CD books.
09:39Yeah, that's so cool.
09:42All right, all right.
09:47Get in there, dude.
09:49I said, get in there, dude.
09:52There we go.
10:00Okay, and then disc two.
10:04Pretty dope.
10:05Has a pig on the other side.
10:08On disc two.
10:11All right, that is neat.
10:13That is neat.
10:14All right, definitely not disappointed there.
10:16Okay, so I guess we can unwrap this.
10:18See if there's a mini manual or something.
10:21And go from there.
10:24All right, so here's the cover.
10:32Very colorful.
10:34Beautiful and pink.
10:35Love it.
10:40All right, let's open it up.
10:54Beautiful.
10:56And there is a manual.
10:58Hail to the air.
11:00Limited run did not disappoint.
11:02Love it.
11:06Okay, and then there's a little cartridge artwork here.
11:11Very nice.
11:12Nice little shot of the village.
11:15Beautiful.
11:18All right, beautiful mini manual.
11:22Hell yeah.
11:25It's great.
11:29I would imagine this is what the PlayStation 1 version manual would be like, too.
11:35Oh, okay.
11:36I love the little pigs at the corner of each page.
11:40Like, that's so cool.
11:48All right, that's nice.
11:49Okay, we're not going to go, like, too in-depth into it.
11:52I could do an episode of, uh, manual minute with this.
11:57But yeah, so.
11:59Okay, got the controls.
12:02Now, Tombo's actions.
12:09Dude, this is great.
12:11Oh, man.
12:13See, okay, limited run really did well with this release.
12:19That was the whole thing.
12:21Like, that's why I really enjoyed limited run.
12:23Because they were the only company that would do physical releases of, like, digital games.
12:29This is one of the reasons why I mess around with limited run in the first place.
12:35But damn, very impressive, man.
12:38Like, this is a full-fledged manual.
12:40This is, like, retro gamer manual quality right here.
12:52Damn.
12:54I am so freaking impressed with this.
12:55It's not even funny.
12:59I don't know, it's even more special because I never owned this on PlayStation.
13:02Because back in the day, I had a 64, of course.
13:04But I did get to experience PlayStation thanks to my cousin.
13:09And then when I finally got a PS1, which was, like, oh shit, like, many, many, many years ago.
13:14So later on down the line.
13:20Alright, got some characters.
13:22Yep.
13:23Notes.
13:24Okay.
13:26Hell yeah, dude.
13:28Very, very happy with this release, man.
13:32Hell yeah.
13:34Limited run in great.
13:37Hell yeah, man.
13:39How we doing?
13:41Alright, so we'll go ahead and do some gameplay footage and, uh, yeah.
13:45Go from there.
13:47Alrighty, folks.
13:48And on to some Tsamba Special Edition, or Tsamba Remastered.
13:53And here we go.
13:55Uh, love a little animated, uh, menu here.
14:00Pretty dope.
14:01Brings me back to the old days of, like, interactive menus on, uh, in DVDs.
14:07DVD movies and TV shows.
14:10So we appreciate those things, man.
14:14Alright, so let's go ahead and check this out, man.
14:18Music player, god damn.
14:20Uh, check out the musical player real quick.
14:29Okay, so they have the remastered soundtrack and original.
14:33Nice, okay.
14:34I already know what song I want to listen to.
14:37Let's see, what was it?
14:38I think it was Mushroom Forest.
14:39And oh, look!
14:40Those creepy, uh, creepy plants that cry and laugh.
14:46Well, it was kind of cool.
14:47They were kind of, like, an inspiration for, uh, my Tsamba painting I did before.
14:53So, pretty dope.
14:55So we'll check out the remastered version of Mushroom Forest first.
15:12I like how the flowers, uh, I guess they're singing.
15:15That's why there's notes coming out of their mouth.
15:17It's kind of cool.
15:18Cool little animation.
15:20For the musical player.
15:28Okay, okay.
15:32A little different instruments here.
15:34Clarinets, probably.
15:41Oh, cool.
15:42So when they pause, they close their eyes and their mouths.
15:45Nice.
15:46So this is the original, so.
15:56Okay, yeah, I think the original definitely hits, hits better than the remastered one.
16:10Okay, okay, so that was the musical player.
16:12We're not going to go too in-depth into that, so.
16:15Yeah, okay, so that was the musical player here.
16:17So I'll check out the museum.
16:20Check out the Tomba advertisements.
16:25Bacon isn't just for breakfast anymore.
16:27Oh, there we go.
16:28That's how we zoom in.
16:34I love the little clay animation here.
16:40That's awesome.
16:44All right, nice little screenshots.
16:47No eyes.
16:49Okay, next.
16:52Uh, okay.
16:54Definitely got some Japanese craziness going here.
16:58But pigfoot, yeah, that makes sense.
17:02Tomba foot, I don't know about so much, but pigfoot, yeah.
17:07I love pig feet.
17:13Well, yeah, interesting advertisement to say the least.
17:20Interesting, okay.
17:25Nice little full spread here.
17:32Nice.
17:36Ah, there's a little behind the scenes of the 3D clay models here for the advertisements.
17:48This is a scared pig.
17:53Okay, so that's cool.
17:56Where you know the USA box art here.
18:03Never seen the European, okay, the European one's pretty cool.
18:06And I guess they call Tomba Tombi over there.
18:09Or Tombai, I don't know how you want to say it.
18:11Yeah.
18:13So that's what they use the 3D models for.
18:15That's the 3D clay models.
18:22Nice.
18:24Help Tombi through a magical world mystery.
18:29Okay, okay, digging the CD art.
18:32Just the claymation model of Tomba.
18:36Although they didn't show what the U.S. CD cover art is, but okay.
18:43And there's a Japanese one.
18:45Kind of similar to the European one.
18:49The backs looks definitely cooler, I'd say.
18:55There's a little spine.
18:57The pig snout print.
19:01Nice.
19:03Development documents.
19:08Okay, yeah.
19:09We don't really need to go into full detail there.
19:14And here's the U.S. manual Tomba.
19:19Okay, all right.
19:20Like, just from the first page here, I'm just like, it is very close to what they used in the
19:27new manual.
19:29I love that.
19:30That's great.
19:33They did it toe for toe here.
19:38Detail for detail.
19:40Love it, love it.
19:45That's so cool.
19:53Tomba's actions.
19:55Jump and bite.
19:59Tomba will automatically bite an enemy if he lands on one.
20:02He just grapples them.
20:04I didn't know he, like, bit them.
20:07Interesting.
20:18Okay, okay, yeah.
20:19See, you know, it's pretty much close to the PlayStation one.
20:22I love that.
20:28I love it.
20:35Coma pig.
20:37Because they ate themselves into a coma.
20:43Needle gator.
20:46Okay, so that was not one.
20:48There's a Japanese.
20:49Okay, that is awesome.
20:51Love the back cover art manual there.
20:55That is pretty neat.
20:57And then, of course, the awesome 3D claymation there.
21:01Dude, even the table of contents is awesome here.
21:03Look at that.
21:09Wait, hold on.
21:10Is this the USA?
21:11Yeah, theirs is in full color, yet we get black and white.
21:15Like, come on, man.
21:17I mean, it's still a cool instruction manual.
21:19Don't get me wrong.
21:20I swear, man.
21:22Japan gets, like, the best things sometimes.
21:29And this is a perfect example of why.
21:36Dude, that's so cool.
21:38Full color and everything.
21:40Those lucky dogs.
21:51All right.
21:52Well, that's that.
21:54Official artwork.
22:02Little pig wizards.
22:09That's cool.
22:10So you can add the layers of detail on each scene here.
22:15Okay, so that's pretty much the poster we got here.
22:19Part of the double-sided poster.
22:24All right, cool.
22:27Coma Buta.
22:31It's like a coloring book, but with one button.
22:35Nice.
22:40And big-ass bird from the first level.
22:47Like a gator.
22:51Funny little monkey.
22:55What in the heck was that?
23:00Interesting creatures here.
23:02Okay, anyways.
23:04Development footage.
23:06Early cutscene concept.
23:16I don't know.
23:17I think the banjo music is what makes that scene right there.
23:20That's crazy.
23:23Pre-release Provo.
23:30Whoa.
23:32Well, that's trippy as hell, man.
23:34That is trippy as hell.
23:38Whoa.
23:45Okay, basically the intro.
23:47Okay.
23:48Basically the intro with crazy looking pig.
23:51With a trippy looking pig.
23:53Okay.
23:54Interesting.
23:55Okay.
23:55So that's that.
23:56Now we can actually get to the game.
24:00Oh, cool.
24:01So they show you all the actions before you start the game.
24:04Very cool.
24:12Oh, they really cleaned up the cutscenes here.
24:20Nice.
24:23Tombo of the jungle king.
24:33How would you survive that fall is my question.
24:38Okay.
24:39Before we start anything.
24:41Let's check the settings.
24:45So, of course, CRT.
24:46I think this is the same carbon engine that they used to make the Gex trilogy.
24:53So I didn't know this.
24:54Limited Run worked on these remasters with the carbon engine.
24:58So I'm just like, what the heck?
25:02Border.
25:04That's a cool border like that.
25:07But you're, you know, I'm going to want the full.
25:10Yeah.
25:10Full screen.
25:12Deal.
25:14Okay.
25:14That's awesome.
25:19Never seen you around here before.
25:22Okay.
25:23Yeah, yeah.
25:23Blah, blah, blah.
25:25Huh?
25:26Say so guy.
25:27Yep.
25:31Hundred year old man.
25:41Yeah, this'll never get old.
25:44Jumping on these fools.
25:49Ah.
25:51Party.
25:52Split plant.
25:55Yeah, that's nasty.
25:59Injected with like Gas-X or something.
26:08Oh, heading off to the old man's hut already.
26:12Unfortunately, the fog is so thick up there.
26:14You can see a thing.
26:14Looks like we'll have to turn around.
26:17Do you dye your hair pink?
26:18Or do you dye your hair?
26:20Or is it naturally pink?
26:21Nope.
26:22Never mind.
26:23I only have my natural survival smell.
26:25Or an outline.
26:26Should there be something to order out to give them this far?
26:30Bored.
26:32Aw, Felicia.
26:41What's that like?
26:42A go-kart looking thing?
26:53Damn.
26:55Frickin' cutscenes look so crispy there.
26:58Huh.
26:58Love it.
27:11Blasted bird.
27:13That's it.
27:13Not the end of next Tuesday.
27:20Yeah, what's up?
27:23Just throw him into the void.
27:28Hey, little baby chocobo.
27:33It's a little baby chocobo.
27:38Was he about to throw?
27:39Huh, bird.
27:43Yep, clear the fog.
27:44I already know this.
27:47I already know this, sir.
27:53Speed up on this pig here.
27:58That's it.
27:59Black, yeah.
28:05Yes, I know I can't go past that.
28:07Fuck, okay.
28:15Yep.
28:24Yep.
28:41Nice.
28:42Furious Tornado?
28:43Quiet.
28:44Hell yeah.
28:48Oh, two for one special.
28:50Froggy.
28:53Let me get Swim Ranch.
28:55Got this.
28:55Swim.
28:59Wait.
29:00Wait.
29:00There's a frog.
29:01Come here, froggy.
29:03Froggy.
29:04Come back, froggy.
29:06You know what's crazy?
29:08Freaking, uh, John St. John.
29:10The voice of Duke Nukem was the voice of Big the Cat in Sonic Adventure.
29:16I couldn't believe that.
29:17I was like, what the hell?
29:20I didn't buy it.
29:21I mean, he was like a slow, dimwitted cat, but I'm just like, I don't care, dude.
29:26I actually liked him.
29:28He was just looking for his little buddy.
29:29That's, that's all it was.
29:32It's like, nope.
29:33People don't have to bash on him because of his intellectual capacity.
29:40Ah, damn it.
29:42If we can get that little monkey hiding the tree there.
29:48Wee!
29:49Okay, there he is.
29:50One, two, three, go.
29:56Whatever, he got the furious tornado, so let's go ahead and use it.
30:10Alright, here we go.
30:13This is basically like that freaking, uh, Castlevania 2.
30:19Yeah, yeah, Castlevania 2, yeah.
30:21Or you didn't even know where the hell to use that freaking tornado.
30:24Or no, you waited for that tornado, if I'm not mistaken.
30:30Alright, hold on, go back to that.
30:40Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
30:41So yeah, Castlevania 2, you go in that corner and then you wait for the tornado.
30:45So this is like the inverse of that.
30:48Find a tornado and use it.
30:53I guess it's more or less clear here than there.
30:56There's the ass plant.
30:58Clear away the farts.
31:01Air out the farts, baby.
31:09Yo.
31:13Goes to the yeea.
31:16There you go.
31:16What are you all supposed to do with this little frog?
31:19Wait, hold on.
31:23I can get it.
31:30There we go.
31:31Hell yeah.
31:34I knew how to, like, 2.5 d jump that one.
31:40Forest of all beginnings.
31:41Save data?
31:45Hell yeah, save data.
31:49Don't do that again.
31:54Yep, I said yes.
31:57I said yes.
32:04Hold on.
32:05It's not letting me save here.
32:06Okay, there we go.
32:08Yes.
32:14God damn it.
32:15It's like, that's the only time B is back.
32:18Because, oh.
32:19Well, the switch, I always hated how they switch the A and the B and the X and the Y.
32:24I'm like, this is the most retarded shit ever.
32:29I guess, hit B and make sure you hit A in the next screen.
32:33So stupid.
32:36What kind of inverse retardation is that?
32:44Wait, hold on.
32:45There's our egg here.
32:47Can't crack it.
32:50Oh, there's another ass plant here.
32:53Pretty gross.
33:12Oh, there's another egg, getting another baby chick.
33:26Baby chocobo.
33:27You can't tell me those don't look like baby chocobos.
33:32Open up, it's a blues.
33:41What's in here?
33:43I saw some eyes through that window.
33:46A little crazy.
33:49Yay!
33:52Okay, so I just gotta take him to his level pond.
33:57Nice.
33:59I'm not trying to rewind here.
34:01What's up?
34:07Yep, I'm trying to do all that.
34:14All pawns.
34:21There we go, fantastic.
34:26Okay, so that was the gameplay portion of the video.
34:31So yet another awesome free master port to switch.
34:39I was definitely going to get back on Gex trilogy.
34:43Maybe I'll do a playthrough of all three games.
34:47And maybe do one of Tomba at some point.
34:50But yeah.
34:52So yeah, definitely a great unboxing.
34:54Awesome collector's edition.
34:55So definitely improve this one.
34:59So yeah, that has been Tomba, baby.
35:02So until next time, love, peace, chicken grease.
