00:26And in volleyball news, the Creamline Cool Smashers clinches a record 11th PVL championship.
00:40The International Criminal Court cites evidence of fake non-laban deaths in former President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs as
00:47part of the main reasons to proceed with his trial.
00:49The pretrial chamber finds enough reason to believe Duterte was an indirect co-perpetrator of crimes against humanity in the
00:56Philippines.
00:57Two of three counts refer to the war on drugs, with one for high-value targets and another for those
01:02killed in Oplan Tukhang.
01:04Police said the suspects allegedly fought back in these killings.
01:07But the pretrial chamber affirms narratives of victims fighting back were false, invented, and do not correspond with what actually
01:14happened.
01:15The all-women judges studied testimonies of several witnesses, including 11 insider witnesses and 7 crime-based witnesses.
01:23The ICC says, evidence provided by witnesses who were directly involved in the above incidents consistently indicates that there were
01:29no threats posed by victims to the direct perpetrators.
01:34Lawyers for former House Speaker Martin Romualdez write to the Ombudsman to inhibit it from holding any investigation on him.
01:41In a letter to Ombudsman Boying Remulia, the lawyer cites statements by Remulia and Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano that they
01:48say show prejudice against their client.
01:50These statements include Remulia's remarks in November 2025 on possibly filing plunder cases against Romualdez and Clavano calling him a
01:58master plunderer last week.
01:59The letter reads,
02:01Such statements are unequivocal.
02:03The Honorable Office has already determined that our client is guilty of plunder even before any case has been filed
02:08and while it is still performing investigatory duties.
02:11The lawyers insist any complaint against their client should be referred to an independent and impartial body free from bias.
02:20Lebanon and Israel extend their ceasefire for three weeks following a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump Thursday, April
02:2623.
02:26Set to expire on Sunday, the ceasefire reported the lessened violence but attacks continue in southern Lebanon.
02:33Trump said the meeting went very well.
02:35The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah.
02:40The Iran-aligned armed group Hezbollah was not present in the meeting.
02:45Trump also says there was a great chance the two countries will reach a peace agreement this year.
02:49But even with the ceasefire, an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil and injured another Wednesday,
02:56April 22.
02:58Four other people were killed that day, the deadliest since the initial 10-day ceasefire began on April 16.
03:06Meta Platforms is set to lay off 8,000 workers or about 10% of the entire company by May
03:1120 to offset their AI investments.
03:14Meta released the internal memo on Thursday, April 23, and a company spokesperson confirmed the layoffs.
03:20The company's chief people officer Janelle Gale writes,
03:23the company was making cuts in their effort to run the company more efficiently for other investments.
03:29She says,
03:30This is not an easy trade-off and it will mean letting go of people who have made meaningful contributions
03:34to Meta during their time here.
03:35In January, Meta announced boosting capital spending of up to $135 billion to pursue superintelligence.
03:43This is the company's effort to offer deeply personalized artificial intelligence to its users.
03:48Along with Meta, Amazon, Snap, and other tech companies cut down their workforce to offset AI-related spending.
03:56The Cool Smashers reclaims the Creamline Dynasty after clinching a record-extending 11th PVL Championship against the Signal Super Spikers
04:04Thursday, April 23.
04:06The nail-biting 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, and 15-11 win completes a sweep of the best-of
04:13-three all-Filipino conference finals.
04:16MVP Bernadette Ponce takes charge with a triple-double of 22 points, 25 excellent digs, and 15 receives.
04:22This follows their failure to reach the finals of the last three tournaments and bidding their All-Filipino 5-peat
04:28goodbye last season.
