00:00So my bold predictions, I actually, I submitted this one yesterday.
00:04My editor over there will vouch for me that I submitted this first prediction
00:09before it became a report yesterday, or at least a rumor yesterday.
00:14I think Nick Casario trades up in this draft, not trades back.
00:17And I know he's traded out of the first round the last couple of years.
00:20I thought you brought up an awesome scenario earlier in the show,
00:23as opposed to rooting for Ty Simpson to drop in the draft.
00:26So the Texans could be open for business at 28, like they were for Jackson Dart at 25 last year,
00:32is to root for Ty Simpson to go off the board early so that there is no opportunity to trade
00:37out.
00:37You're either staying at 28, you're not going to ruin the draft party this year,
00:41Nicholas Casario, young man, or you're moving up like Pendergast says you're going to do.
00:45Because what happened last year was the Giants made an offer to the Texans
00:49that because the Giants were trading for a quarterback, teams tend to just,
00:53they'll spend more to trade for a quarterback.
00:55They feel it's worth it.
00:57So they offered up a nice package for that pick.
01:01Two-thirds.
01:02Two-third-round picks.
01:03Yeah, hard for a guy like Nick Casario to look at the difference in points
01:07and draft points attached to those picks and not take that.
01:11So I don't want him to be tempted.
01:12Yeah.
01:12You know, I want him not to have an opportunity to make actually the best decision.
01:20You are here for the first-round juice.
01:22I get it.
01:22I am here for short-term excitement.
01:24Yep, you're here for a good time, a short time, and a long time.
01:28So I think Nick's going to trade up.
01:30And the reason I say that is not about any specific position.
01:33In fact, let's play Tom Pelissero, and I'll explain my thinking on this.
01:36In the back half of round one, it's been abundantly clear for, frankly, the past week
01:41that a lot of those teams would prefer to move down, pick up extra picks.
01:44That's a byproduct of the fact that teams only have 12 to 15 first-round grades on these
01:50players in this draft.
01:51Having said that, one team that was particularly aggressive about trying to move down, the
01:55Houston Texans, who have been calling for people for weeks, I am told Red have started
01:58to make calls about moving up, potentially into the middle of round one.
02:03Could they be potentially targeting additional defensive line help?
02:06That will be one to watch, given the fact that Nick Casario is never shy about moving
02:12around the draft board.
02:12So Pelissero is very specific there, and obviously it sounds like he's hearing things.
02:19My thought was, Seth, that the more we hear about this draft, the more it feels like this
02:23week, the more we're hearing about there being way more teams wanting to move back or even
02:28out of the first round, like the Texans did last year, than wanting to move up because
02:33there's so much, it feels like, and it feels like it's this way with a lot of drafts.
02:36But that there's the, you know, the annual equality between pick, you know, 14 through
02:4145, they're all the same guy, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
02:44If that is true, I could see Casario being a guy that would view that as some sort of
02:48market inefficiency where he can take advantage of it.
02:51If you got all these teams looking to move back, then theoretically the cost of moving
02:55up would be less than it would normally be.
02:57Right.
02:57And I think the other part of it too, is two interesting things there.
03:01We focus kind of on the prospects of the Texans moving up.
03:03I mean, it's, I guess we just assume that Nick is open to moving back, but it is notable
03:09that Palacero says the Texans have been making calls inquiring about moving back.
03:13I think a lot of the, a lot of those calls at this time of the draft are kind of
03:18exploratory.
03:19Nick has openly talked about this before.
03:21You just start to get a feel for what teams would be willing to do, what they're thinking,
03:26where they are.
03:26So you start to get a feel for maybe when you might want to call a certain team during the
03:30draft, the interesting chatter right now to me is that I keep hearing a lot of people
03:36say they feel like there's going to be a run on offensive lineman early in the draft.
03:40And I don't think that that means that the Texans would see one of the guys that they like
03:45that's all of a sudden going in and, you know, there's only a few offensive linemen on the
03:50board.
03:50I don't think Nick generally operates out of desperation like that.
03:54What it might mean though, is that if there's a run on offensive lineman early, that some
03:59of the edge rushers, there's going to be a group of edge rushers in the middle of the,
04:04in the middle of the draft of the first round that they really like.
04:08And they think, okay, if we want to go up and get, you know, Keldrick Falk or Akeem
04:12Mesidor or one of these guys, we've got a juicy band there in the mid to late teens that
04:18we can go up and get one of those guys.
04:19I think that's the most, that's the most likely scenario right now.
04:22I don't think, I think Kenyon Sadiq, the tight end, I think that I, I have a really
04:28hard time just looking at the teams that are at the middle of the first round.
04:32It feels like there's enough teams there that really love their tight ends or need to replace
04:36an older tight end or what have you that he's not going to fall past 15, but maybe one of
04:41those teams who wants Sadiq once Sadiq is off the board might say, all right, yeah.
04:46Okay.
04:46Yeah.
04:47Get Nick on the phone.
04:48We talked to him earlier about him potentially trading up.
04:50Yep.
04:51That would be a pricey one, but I would, it would be really fun to see.
04:55So, so I think they're going to, if I had to predict and I am predicting they trade up,
05:00not back in this first round.
05:01My other predictions, I think someone trades up for Jeremiah Love and I'm looking at the
05:06TV in our studio right now, Seth, and on get up right now, literally the caption is, should
05:12Jeremiah Love be drafted number three by the Cardinals?
05:14There is so much smoke around Jeremiah Love going to the Cardinals all of a sudden right
05:18now.
05:19Yeah.
05:19That it feels like one of those things where the Cardinals may be trying to put a lot of
05:23that out there that, Hey, we're going to take Jeremiah Love.
05:24I think there's some teams.
05:26I think the Titans at four.
05:27I think the Giants at five.
05:28I think the commanders at seven would all love to have Jeremiah Love on their team.
05:32So I think, I think whoever takes Jeremiah Love, I still think it'll be one of those
05:36teams, but I think whoever takes him is going to have moved up to go get him.
05:41That's how big the buzz is right now on Jeremiah Love.
05:44I guess.
05:44And maybe one of the big X factors in all of this is that I think people have just, they've
05:49gone and just assumed like, like the jets have announced or something that they're going
05:53to draft Arvel Reese.
05:54Um, and I just, I feel like there might be way more to either the jets trading or them
06:01not actually, maybe they like the, the big thing is that they canceled, um, uh, they canceled
06:06their meeting with David Bally, the other edge rusher.
06:10And yeah.
06:11So people, um, you know, think that, okay, they totally love Arvel Reese.
06:16Uh, I, I, if there's a trade for three for, with the Cardinals for somebody that wants to
06:22get love, it might not come until right after the jets pick, just to be sure they see, they
06:27know what the jets are doing.
06:28Yes.
06:29Yeah.
06:29Yeah.
06:29It happened when it's like it, like it happened with Will Anderson jr.
06:33Yeah.
06:33Three years ago with the Cardinals picking third.
06:35So I think there's still room that the jets, it might not be an edge rusher at all, or the
06:39jets themselves might trade out of it.
06:40Or maybe if people are buying into what Arizona is saying, but they, but somebody wants love
06:44bad enough, they'll trade with the jets, trade with the jets.
06:47Got to move up to two, which I mean, that's where I am with the jets.
06:49If you're the jets, I feel like, man, you're in a good spot to just
06:53You're getting picks benefit from all of this.
06:55Jeremiah love buzz and maybe just get as many, you could have three picks in the first round.
06:59Yeah.
06:59Yeah.
07:00No question.
07:00So I think whoever takes Jeremiah love will have moved up to go get him.
07:04That's my number two prediction.
07:06Number three, I think Jacob Rodriguez, the linebacker out of Texas tech is going to be
07:10a first rounder.
07:11I think he's going to be a late first rounder.
07:12You see a lot of mocks with him going to the Cowboys who are looking for kind of that
07:16defensive leader, you know, that their defense was bad last year.
07:19They're looking, I think, to reset the culture on that side of the ball.
07:22Hell, we saw a mock yesterday.
07:23They'd have the Texans taking him at 28.
07:26Yeah.
07:26That's a, you know what?
07:27We'll ask.
07:29We should ask David Pollack.
07:31Yeah.
07:32David Pollack about that.
07:33Cause I feel like he's one of those guys that there's, there's always the guys that go
07:37in the first round and immediately the fan base is upset because they could have gotten
07:42this guy later.
07:42He's in the second round when in reality, we don't know what teams draft boards look
07:46like.
07:46And I feel like Rodriguez is one of those guys where there might be a lot of teams that
07:51have him basically as a top, a top 30 guy.
07:54But when he goes there on draft day, because the mock drafts don't have them there, people,
07:59people are upset.
08:00Why did you take him there?
08:02He would have been available later on.
08:03No, you just don't know that.
08:05Nope.
08:05Nope.
08:06So I think you gotta, you gotta talk me through this tomorrow because that's, you know,
08:09that's the comment post draft that I hate most of all when people assume that they know
08:13what everybody else's draft board was.
08:15Why did you draft him there when you totally could have drafted him one round later?
08:20Like, how do you know that?
08:21You don't know that.
08:22Please don't let the Texans take one of those guys.
08:25That's what I'm hoping.
08:26The only thing I really hope for in this draft.
08:27I don't want to have to address those questions.
08:29Oh, please don't take a guy who was mocked.
08:31His average consensus mock draft slot was 49 or something like that.
08:35Yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:35They'd take him 28.
08:37Jacob Rodriguez, the whole thing about Jacob Rodriguez that's intriguing to me is that some
08:42of the negatives on his, some of his scouting reports are things that I think I do totally
08:47trust D'Amico Ryans to assess whether this is something that's very coachable.
08:52And he can get it out of him versus, okay, is this more of an issue?
08:56Just some of the things with some of the play recognition and misdirection and things like
08:59that.
09:00Some of his lapses in coverage.
09:02Is it just D'Amico think, oh, wait, no, that's easily correctable or, oh, no, this is something
09:07that makes me nervous.
09:08Yep.
09:09Number four, my last prediction, I think there's going to be four Ohio State guys, Seth, in
09:15the top eight picks in this draft.
09:18Four in the top eight, which you wonder why Ryan Day is under pressure to win the national
09:22championship every year.
09:24It's because you recruit and develop guys excellent in an excellent fashion.
09:28That is, it's one of the sneaky, scary things about being really good at recruiting is that
09:33you better do something with those incredible recruits or people are going to wonder why.
09:37They'll go hire somebody else who doesn't recruit as well to come to do a better job than you
09:44were doing with these guys that you did recruit well.
09:46That's exactly right.
09:46The four guys I'm referring to, you mentioned one of them, Arville Reese, who is being forecast
09:52to be a top three pick, the edge rusher out of Ohio State.
09:55Sonny Stiles, the linebacker, who a lot of teams really like.
09:59Again, he'd be another guy, you know, leader of your defense sort of thing.
10:04Carnell Tate, the wide receiver, who a lot of people are saying, what were you saying
10:08for Sonny Stiles?
10:09Linebacker.
10:10Yeah.
10:10Oh, as far as the actual, okay.
10:12I thought you were talking about him as a Texans.
10:14No, no, no.
10:14These are, no, I said four, my prediction is four Ohio State guys going to top eight in the
10:18draft.
10:19Yeah.
10:19So I'm just saying who they are.
10:20Uh, Arville Reese, Sonny Stiles, Carnell Tate, the wide receiver, who is widely believed
10:26to be headed to the Browns at six and cause they need wide receiver help badly.
10:30And then Caleb Downs is the one that's sort of the wild card.
10:33He might be the best player out of the four of them, but he plays safety and it's not
10:36a premium position.
10:38Okay.
10:38What, uh, how much are you reading into, there are a couple of reports that say that the
10:43giants who, uh, have Sonny Stiles going to them there.
10:47He's mocked a lot to the giants.
10:49That's the giants are actually out on Sonny Stiles.
10:51Do you think that's smoke put out there by the giants to try to scare people off or something?
10:57Maybe.
10:57Yeah.
10:57I don't know.
10:58I, yeah, I'm not sure.
10:59That's, uh, I don't think they're off of Sonny Stiles.
11:02I got like, I don't believe it.
11:03Um, I saw rich Nate.
11:05I saw rich Eisen's name attached to one of those reports, but I don't, I'm getting, I don't,
11:09you never know how people are misframing.
11:11That would be strange at this late process, but yeah, I think four of them go in the top
11:15eight.
11:16These Ohio state kids.
11:18Um, all right.
11:19And then maybe a fifth one goes later in the first round to the Texans with Caden McDonald.
11:23Who knows?
11:23Who knows?
