00:00I am too young to grow up, so I'm
00:04right, I don't want to show up, so she's going to play.
00:08All right, I'm on a scale of 1 to 10.
00:10Excited, nervous?
00:11Um, I don't think I'm, like, that nervous.
00:14I feel like the sound is going to mess with you
00:15more than the actual need.
00:16It's going to be that .
00:18Oh, dang, I should have gotten my earbuds.
00:23It is Emma's 20th birthday, and she's
00:26getting her first tattoo, and actually not one, but two.
00:30Ashley is here visiting because we are all leaving
00:33for our Little People's Conference in San Diego in a few days.
00:36It's all about you today, your 20th birthday,
00:39and you're getting tattoos.
00:41Yep.
00:42Later for Emma's birthday, I have a special surprise for her,
00:46and she has no idea that it's coming.
00:48And now when he draws the stencil on you and stuff,
00:51and he shows you, be honest if you like the placement
00:54or the size, like, Emma, this is permanent.
00:58Yes, I hear that.
00:59So I've been wanting a tattoo for a while,
01:02and I've sent the artist some ideas,
01:04and I can't wait to see what he comes up with.
01:06Will you ever get a tattoo?
01:08Will I ever get a tattoo?
01:09No.
01:10No.
01:10If you were to get a tattoo, what would it be?
01:13I don't really have, like, a set tattoo idea right now,
01:17so I wouldn't get one.
01:18I'm not against it.
01:19I just don't know what tattoo I would get.
01:22I thought it would be cool to, like, get, you know,
01:25Layton's face engraved, like, from her ultrasound or something.
01:28I love how you go to the arms, too,
01:30because I'm not ever putting anything on my arms.
01:33How about your butt cheek or something?
01:35No.
01:36Liz, would you and Bryce ever consider matching tattoos?
01:40Hell no.
01:41Why?
01:41Aunt Heidi.
01:42She lived and learned her lesson.
01:44She got a matching tattoo with her first husband.
01:47Oh, yeah?
01:48Yeah.
01:49Oh, my God.
01:50I mean, like, Dad and I did, we did them at the same time,
01:52but we didn't get, it's nowhere near matching.
01:55Years ago, Trent and I went and got tattoos.
02:00Actually, the same place that Emma's going with the same tattoo artist.
02:04I got a branch with five leaves, which represent each one of my kids,
02:10two little birds, which represent Trent and I,
02:13and then I have our wedding date.
02:15I just have a tattoo that I drew up and I like.
02:22I guess you could say it hurt, but it was not unbearable,
02:25and I definitely took it better.
02:28I did fine.
02:34Emma, don't be mad at me if I'll laugh at you fast enough.
02:37No.
02:38No, it's actually kind of scary,
02:39because she did it to me once with an earring.
02:41I know, with an earring.
02:42A few years ago, Emma went to get her ears pierced,
02:45everything went fine, but then one day,
02:47I'm trying to change the earring out, and she passes out on me.
02:51I don't remember.
02:53You don't remember?
02:53No.
02:55And Jonah, luckily, was coming around the corner,
02:57and he just got the backward and just sat down with her.
03:01I am a little worried getting these tattoos,
03:04because I know Mom talked about, like, the pain on her foot,
03:08and she said it was pretty bad, so I was like, oh, gosh.
03:12So, I was a little nervous.
03:14Well, I mean, if you do pass out, you can just sleep through it.
03:16That's true.
03:26Hey, guys, let's start decorating for Emma's birthday.
03:30Bryce, we can do one over here.
03:32Today, we are celebrating Emma's 20th birthday,
03:35and while Emma is out getting her tattoos,
03:38all the guys are here setting up for a birthday celebration.
03:43Here, can you?
03:44This.
03:45Okay.
03:46Yeah, she's no longer a teenager.
03:48That's crazy.
03:50We should get a bottle of liquor and put a little tag on it
03:52that says one more year.
03:53That'd be funny.
03:55It is official that my youngest daughter is no longer a teenager.
03:59That's a milestone for Emma,
04:01but it's also a milestone for Amber and I,
04:04and it's a celebration.
04:09Oh, we don't have streamers here either.
04:11You didn't buy streamers?
04:12I'm afraid not.
04:14With or without streamers, I think we did a pretty good job.
04:17It'll still get the point across.
04:26Oh, my gosh.
04:28Hey!
04:29Welcome in.
04:31Today's the day.
04:32Yes, it is.
04:33Are you ready?
04:34Yep.
04:35Let's do it.
04:35Emma's coming in today to get tattooed,
04:38and I tattooed her dad and having daughters myself,
04:41you know, I know how that father-daughter bond is.
04:44So I want to do something special.
04:47That's what you're getting, all right?
04:51Oh, my God.
04:53No freaking way.
04:58I'm not getting my dad's face on me and the daddy's girl.
05:03That's not me.
05:06Interesting.
05:07That's quite the photo.
05:09It's horrific.
05:11His brows are flaked too.
05:12Yeah.
05:13Perfect.
05:13The glasses, the big nose, the no neck.
05:16It's a lot of cringey.
05:17You would have had to get it, like, on your back because of how big it was.
05:21Yeah.
05:21It's, like, up here on my butt cheeks.
05:24What are you getting worked on today?
05:26I was thinking the year that I came home, so 2010.
05:30Cute.
05:31And then...
05:32That was my idea.
05:33That was her idea, actually.
05:34Having the year that I was adopted on me is very important because it's the year I came home.
05:40And I think it's definitely a big deal being a part of this family.
05:46And then my idea was the ladybug.
05:48What's the significance of the ladybug?
05:50The ladybug because of my name.
05:52My daughter's name is Layton.
05:53But we call Layton a lot of times Ladybug.
05:58But we spell it out with the first five of her letters.
06:01L-E-I-G-H-T-Y.
06:04That's really sweet.
06:06I wanted to get a ladybug tattoo for Layton because I love Layton a lot.
06:12She will always be in my life.
06:14You could go a little bit smaller with this one if you wanted to.
06:18You thinking, yeah?
06:19Or does it look about right?
06:20I mean, when it comes to tattooing little people, it's, you know, things can only be done so small.
06:27And so what, you know, would be a wrist tattoo for a regular sized person, you know, you put it
06:33on a smaller arm and it's no longer a wrist tattoo.
06:36You know, it's half the forearm.
06:38So scaling its size and it's really important.
06:40So all I really need from you is you to be still.
06:44Okay.
06:45No sudden movements, no jumping, no snatching your arm.
06:47If you need me to stop for any reason, just let me know.
06:50Okay.
06:50You can just grit your teeth and bear it.
06:52We'll be done.
06:54Just to breathe.
06:54You got this.
06:55Just breathe.
06:56Yeah, breathe.
06:57Just breathe.
07:00Emma has had no surgeries, especially being little.
07:03No ortho surgeries, brain surgeries, back surgeries, none of that.
07:06So we really are kind of in the mystery zone of like Emma when it comes to her pain tolerance.
07:12You ready?
07:15We'll see.
07:17Ugh.
07:19Don't pass out.
07:27You ready?
07:28Happy birthday.
07:30Very good.
07:31Today's my 20th birthday.
07:33I'm getting tattoos.
07:35I'm super nervous and I hope I survive.
07:46You good?
07:49I know Emma well enough that I knew she would sit there.
07:52If she starts something, she's gonna finish it.
07:55But we got a little nervous just because she wasn't saying any words.
08:08Does it hurt?
08:09Yeah.
08:11I just wanted to make sure that we're feeling the pain.
08:16No, I do feel it.
08:17Okay.
08:17I thought it's gonna hurt really bad, but then I was like, oh, it's not like too terrible.
08:23I could definitely feel the needle getting into my skin.
08:26Yeah.
08:27Oh, yeah.
08:27I think your face, you were just like.
08:37All right.
08:38Yeah.
08:39Dang, that was fast.
08:41That was fast.
08:42Oh, yeah.
08:43That's cute.
08:44That looks good.
08:45That looks great.
08:46The first tattoo, it wasn't too bad.
08:49But then when he did the ladybug, it was a little kind of painful.
08:56I feel like you're trying to poop.
09:00Don't move.
09:02Don't worry.
09:02I'll show this video to Layton when she's older.
09:05Oh, my gosh.
09:09You already thinking about your next one?
09:11Nope.
09:12Not right now.
09:12I still think she should get the smiley face on her wonky toe.
09:16She can handle it.
09:17Elizabeth wants you to do a smiley face on her wonky toe.
09:19A wonky toe.
09:20See, look.
09:21Yeah, we've convinced him.
09:22See how wrong that toe is?
09:25He's laughing.
09:28Hi, my name is Emma, and I have a wonky toe.
09:32Emma's number fourth toe on her right foot is shorter than her fifth toe.
09:36Significantly shorter.
09:37We call it a wonky toe.
09:39It's nothing to throw shame at, but it's just always funny because if she wants to start
09:45an argument or throw a jab at somebody, we always resort back to the wonky toe.
09:54You're doing good.
09:55Yeah.
09:56Yeah.
09:57All right.
10:00Oh, let's see.
10:02Let's see.
10:03Oh.
10:05Look, hold on.
10:07So pretty.
10:10I love it.
10:11Yeah, it is.
10:12Yeah.
10:13So detailed.
10:14That is so cool.
10:16I am pretty proud of myself because I thought I would maybe pass out, but yeah.
10:21You should be proud.
10:22That's a lot.
10:23That's permanent for the rest of your life.
10:26Yep.
10:27Love it.
10:31I love both of the tattoos.
10:33The year I came home, 2010.
10:36And this ladybug, or Layton, because we call her Ladybug, and yeah.
10:42Thank you all very much.
10:42Have a good one.
10:43Thanks for coming in.
10:44Chris is going to do a smiley face on your wonky toe.
10:47I'm good after this.
10:57I think they're almost here.
11:01Emma's turning 20, and I think the anticipation for us to finally see the tattoos that she got,
11:09it outweighed the actual surprise that we held for her.
11:12Well, here's the door open.
11:14Yeah.
11:15One, two, three.
11:17Happy birthday to you.
11:21Oh my gosh.
11:22Happy birthday to you.
11:26Happy birthday dear Emma.
11:30Psych!
11:30One more year.
11:31Happy birthday to you.
11:35Now you just put it back in the liquor cabinet.
11:38I thought the bottle was funny.
11:40That was funny.
11:43One more year.
11:45Cute.
11:45This is cute.
11:46Good job, guys.
11:47Well, Em, what do you have to show them?
11:50Oh.
11:50Oh, I know.
11:51Let's see.
11:51Oh, wow.
11:53That's a ladybug.
11:54They did that one upside down?
11:56No, they did not, Dad.
11:58Which one hurt the worst?
11:59This one.
12:01I like Emma's tattoos' ideas.
12:03I think they're both very, like, sentimental and they make sense for Emma.
12:07So, yeah, I think they're both really good ideas.
12:09All right, everybody.
12:12When we adopted Emma, she was very friendly, very open.
12:16She was very outgoing, very spunky, never walked, always ran.
12:21Ran.
12:21Always.
12:21When she first arrived, like, her first week was no English, so she had to relearn a language
12:29and navigate how school was at the age of five.
12:33Looking back at it now, she's accomplished a lot.
12:35The life that she's already paved, those are some massive milestones.
12:41Yes?
12:43To show how much Emma means to me, I got her a special gift.
12:47Oh, gosh.
12:48Uh-oh.
12:49Gift time.
12:50Okay.
12:51Before we get started, though.
12:52I've been thinking a lot about this moment, how to put into words of what you mean to me.
12:56It's not always easy to explain that kind of bond that grows not just from blood, but from love, loyalty,
13:01and shared life.
13:02Watching you become the absolute amazing aunt to our little girl, Layton.
13:06She will always know how amazing you are, and we will always know that you'd do anything for her.
13:11As I prepared to take this next step in life, marrying Bryce, it wouldn't feel right without you by my
13:18side.
13:18You've held my hand through so many chapters.
13:20I need you with me on this walk as well.
13:22So, open up your box.
13:27I'm going to have to hold it.
13:28Oh, it's a picture.
13:29Yeah.
13:30Aww.
13:32That is so cute.
13:34Yeah.
13:35Will you be my bridesmaid?
13:37Yes.
13:38I would love to.
13:40Love you.
13:41Love you.
13:42She was just so adamant.
13:43I just don't want to be her maid of honor, Liz.
13:45I just can't do the speech.
13:46I know you love me, but I just can't do it, Liz.
13:48I'm like, okay, Emma, I got it.
13:50I was waiting for Liz to ask me, but I didn't know that she was asking me today, and I'm
13:57so glad.
13:59I'm trying to find days to do it, to ask everybody to be my bridesmaid.
14:03Since I asked Madison.
14:04Now that I've officially asked Emma to become my bridesmaid, I have two more ladies to ask, Carol and Dacey,
14:11and I get to see them next week in San Diego to do that.
14:14Look, Mommy's right there.
14:16Aww.
14:17Aww.
14:19Gotta love it.
14:20Perfect.
14:29Hello.
14:30Welcome.
14:31Welcome in.
14:31How are you?
14:33I am hopeful today.
14:35Okay.
14:35So when's the wedding?
14:37November 8th.
14:38Okay.
14:38Of this year.
14:39Real quick.
14:39Real soon.
14:40Real quick.
14:41Yeah.
14:41At the first shop, we had no luck, and today I am wedding dress shopping again at another store with
14:48my mom and Emma, and we've got to be able to find a dress today because our wedding is four
14:53months away, and pretty much it takes about three to four months to get a dress ordered, and then it
14:59takes an additional month to get a dress altered.
15:01So ultimately, it's now or never.
15:04So this is not your first time shopping for a dress.
15:07No.
15:07We went to one dress store.
15:09We failed.
15:11We didn't fail.
15:12We didn't find anything.
15:13We just didn't find anything.
15:14It was not our...
15:14It was too stressful, very overwhelming.
15:16I tried on seven different kinds of dresses at the last shop.
15:20Dress number one.
15:21I feel a little too princessy in this.
15:23Dress number two.
15:24No.
15:25Too much sparkle, I just feel like it's such a prom dress.
15:28I didn't realize how springy looking it would be.
15:32Unfortunately, none of them were the one.
15:34Are you into, like, blinky, glitzy, glammy, sequiny?
15:38A little.
15:38Some.
15:39I mean, we learned at the other wedding dress place, just the plain...
15:45Made me look too plain.
15:46Like, was too plain.
15:47Okay.
15:47Way too plain.
15:48So why don't we browse around, and we can start with pulling three, and we'll see what you think from
15:53there.
15:53Copy.
15:54Sounds good.
15:56I am definitely hoping that Elizabeth finds a dress.
15:59I know there was a lot of disappointment the first go around.
16:03So I would kind of like to turn that around.
16:07You're gonna tell me now.
16:08I know you're gonna say that.
16:09What about this?
16:11No.
16:11You should try that.
16:12I'm good.
16:13No, I'm not wasting my time.
16:14This is elegant.
16:16No, it's kind of plain.
16:17What about this?
16:19Yes.
16:20I'll try it on for you.
16:21So after going dress shopping the first time, I kind of have an idea of what I definitely
16:26don't want.
16:27Not a lot of sparkles.
16:28No big poofs.
16:29Not a lot of boob.
16:30I wish it could be easier, but it's not.
16:34Now, as far as sizing, how do y'all go about for...
16:37We do order.
16:37We custom order.
16:38And I have to look past all the extra fabric.
16:40Yes.
16:41All right.
16:41Now, I can hold this too when we go up there.
16:44Yes.
16:45The only challenge I feel like we will face or are facing with Liz as a little person is
16:51just the extra material and holding all of the fabric out of the way so she can walk.
17:00Oh, my gosh.
17:03Oh, my gosh.
17:05I'm trying not to trip, so y'all don't laugh at me.
17:11I definitely think it works across the top.
17:14And I think I like the sleeves.
17:16The sleeves look cool.
17:17Okay.
17:18So dress one.
17:19I know.
17:19I didn't realize how tight it was going to be on the...
17:21It's very tight.
17:22Booty.
17:23But I do like the neckline.
17:24Yeah.
17:24No, I do like that with you.
17:26Mom and Emma, I just looked at their faces like, yeah, no, we don't like it.
17:30We're not going to spend any more time on it.
17:31Move on.
17:32Bring in another dress.
17:34Oh.
17:36That is sparkly.
17:38Holy.
17:41I've never seen you so sparkly.
17:46I do like the dress, the silhouette.
17:48I like the style of it.
17:50But I do know the sparkles are not...
17:52Not your thing.
17:54Here we go again.
17:55I just don't like anything that I'm trying on.
17:58And let's go back to the drawing board.
18:05You would never let any of your children walk down in a dress like this.
18:10This dress was just a complete no.
18:12I did not feel like a bride.
18:15I felt like a marshmallow.
18:17Okay, I got to take a picture of this one.
18:18No, you don't.
18:19Yes, I do.
18:19Oh, yeah.
18:21She's not even in the top two.
18:24She's not even in my top ten.
18:26I was feeling pretty discouraged.
18:28There was still just not that feeling of, yep, this is the dress.
18:32This is the one.
18:33We're on crunch time because your wedding is coming up so soon.
18:36Yeah.
18:38Well, we got one more after this one.
18:40After trying on lots of dresses, I'm feeling lots of pressure.
18:44And I'm like, just try this last one on and we'll see.
18:49I hope this is the one.
18:54I didn't realize how tight it was going to be on there.
18:57It's very tight.
18:58After trying on lots of dresses, I'm like, just try this last one on and we'll see.
19:05I hope this is the one.
19:07Me too.
19:07I don't think she'll survive a second place and not find another dress.
19:13All right.
19:20Oh.
19:22Oh my gosh.
19:39Yes.
19:46I love how this dress has the neckline that I was looking for.
19:49It has a little modesty to it.
19:51My boobs don't feel like they're on display.
19:52I definitely like how the skirt is not poofy.
19:55It's very me.
19:57Comparing it to all the other dresses, this is the only dress that I smiled in.
20:01And if you get a smile out of me in a dress, that's it.
20:04Love it.
20:05I love it a lot.
20:06I am beautiful.
20:09I feel like it complements your body.
20:12I think it has a little bit of sparkle, but it's not, like, too much.
20:17It's, like, perfect for your body.
20:19Yeah.
20:19It's got the lace, but it's not too much.
20:22Ain't nobody gonna beat this dress.
20:25So then I would say that you're saying this is your dress.
20:34I think this is gonna be my dress.
20:40I was definitely shocked, and I was like, this is the one.
20:44Yeah, it was, that was 100% the dress.
20:47So how long are we thinking to order that dress?
20:5712 to 16 weeks.
21:00Well, that leaves us...
21:02A month of alterations.
21:03Not, yeah, barely a month.
21:05Better late than never.
21:07This timeline is extremely stressful.
21:09The dress will take 12 to 16 weeks to arrive, which would mean that we would get the dress
21:14somewhere around, you know, end of September, 1st of October.
21:18That would only leave us about a month to get all the alterations done since the wedding
21:22is November 8th.
21:24I am definitely worried for Liz.
21:27We'll definitely keep this one.
21:29Yeah.
21:29Yes.
21:30I'm overall trying to stay calm as far as the dress ordering and waiting for it to get here,
21:35but also a little on edge.
21:38It's like, have your fingers crossed and hope for the best.
21:41So, yeah, the pressure's on.
21:42Thank you all, ladies.
21:44Bye.
21:46Hallelujah.
21:47No kidding.
21:55So, babe.
21:56What?
21:57I have a little thing to show you.
21:59Surprise.
22:00After seeing the sketch of Trent's face that the tattoo artist came up with for Emma,
22:06I have come up with an idea to surprise Trent with tonight.
22:10If you're backing that ass up, then that ain't look...
22:13Oh, my God.
22:17What in the world?
22:18It's you.
22:19I see that.
22:21Isn't it cute?
22:22It's so creepy.
22:25This Big Daddy tattoo on Amber is a bit awkward.
22:30I mean, who wants to be in a moment of excitement or intimacy, and you're sitting there just driving
22:36at home one night, and you're looking at a picture of you?
22:41That's awful.
22:42Isn't that a tramp stamp or something like that, what they call it?
22:45No, it's not really.
22:46God, yes.
22:49So, how did wedding dress shopping go?
22:51Left out on the place that we found because the dress was beautiful.
22:59But it takes about four months to get a dress.
23:03We are sweating it, really, because I know for a fact our seamstress will need one month to make the
23:14alteration.
23:14So we're hoping by some miracle that the dress will arrive a little bit less than four months.
23:22But anyway, when we get back from San Diego, we really got to start with the wedding planning.
23:29Meet with caterers and, you know, the designer.
23:34Event planner.
23:34Event planner and stuff and get cracking on planning this wedding.
23:39So, speaking about San Diego, you know, obviously Ashley's going with us.
23:45Allie will be coming here.
23:47Her mom will be bringing her, and she's going to fly out with us.
23:50But while we're out in San Diego, plan to do some, you know, off-site stuff.
23:56A lot of us want to go to the zoo, falconry.
24:00Alice is, like, all excited about it.
24:02Now that the family has grown up, we tackle conference a little bit different now.
24:07We still enjoy seeing all of our little people, friends, and catching up with them.
24:11But at the same time, we enjoy our family vacationing and exploring new cities every year.
24:19So, wedding planning.
24:20That's at the top of the list when we get back from San Diego.
24:23We've got to go to San Diego and get back before we worry about everything else.
24:27Well, we pretty much worry about it all simultaneously.
24:30San Diego will be a lot of fun, but there's still a lot to do for the wedding in just
24:35four months.
24:36It will take some time, and time is what we don't have a lot of.
24:40I'm ready for bed.
24:42Oh, God.
24:43You got the hiccups?
24:44Mm-hmm.
24:47My face is scruffy.
24:49Yes, it is.
24:59I will put hangers on.
25:01You put on the rack, because I can't reach, because I'm short.
25:05It's okay.
25:05You got short problems.
25:07You know what?
25:08You're short, too, so it's okay.
25:10So, Ashley's coming with us to San Diego this weekend, and right now we're just getting our clothes together.
25:17So, I was going to do that, but that's too much denim.
25:18The Little People's Conference is like a gathering where everyone, like, socialize, talk.
25:26There's a dance every night.
25:28There's sports going on, and we just meet a lot of new people.
25:33Are we going to find a boy this year?
25:36Or what do you think?
25:39I don't really know.
25:40Are you, like, is there anybody that you're eyeing, or anybody that you've talked to?
25:45You know that's how me and Jonah met.
25:47What?
25:47We met at conference.
25:49Well, yeah, I know that.
25:50Ashley and Jonah, Alex and Allie, and Mom and Dad all met at the Little People's Conference.
25:58A word of advice is it'll happen when it happens, and it'll happen when you least expect it.
26:05I think Ashley and the rest of the family wants to try to find someone.
26:10For me, more than, like, I want to, like, look and go find someone.
26:16I mean, if there's someone at conference and they come up to me, it happens.
26:21But I'm definitely happy just to hang out with the family, make new friends, see everyone.
26:29Me and Jonah can find you somebody?
26:31No, not Jonah.
26:32Not Jonah?
26:32We don't need Jonah.
26:33Okay, just me?
26:34Okay.
26:34Yeah.
26:34Because what if he's like, no, off the table?
26:37I would definitely not pick any of the boys as my wingman.
26:42I don't really need their help.
26:44If anybody needs help, I think I would be a good wingman.
26:47I would probably pick Jonah, really, because, I mean, he's the closest, like me, in the sense
26:52of he's going to weed right through, like, yeah.
26:56The worst wingman would be, I would have to go with my dad just because that would mean
27:00him picking somebody that resembles my own mom.
27:05How are you and Jonah?
27:06We're good, actually.
27:09You know, things are good between us.
27:12Are you going to ever move to Georgia?
27:14Um, I don't know yet.
27:17I finished my undergrad in December.
27:20What's your plan after that?
27:22To find a teaching job.
27:24Find a year.
27:25Like, we've obviously talked about it.
27:27Yeah.
27:28I mean, we're six years in.
27:29Yeah.
27:30And so, obviously, in my opinion, if we've been dating this long, you know, we're pretty
27:38serious.
27:40Ashley and I are finishing up school, and then we will rehash and discuss, you know, what
27:46happens after that.
27:47So, I would say, safely, we're probably a year out from her coming down here.
27:51I got me a good one.
27:53You need you a good one.
27:54I have high hope.
27:56You do?
27:57I have a good feeling about this conference.
27:58I really do.
28:00What'd you see?
28:09What's all this, Mom?
28:10Making, like, a care package for Nana.
28:12Care package slash photo board.
28:15Okay.
28:16She's already had one like this.
28:17Yeah.
28:17So, Dad's going to paint it.
28:19The whole thing?
28:20Uh-huh.
28:21Today, we are making a care package for Nana before we leave town to our Little People's
28:26Conference.
28:27Books are now polished, too.
28:29Yes, because she, for some reason, is liking her nails painted since she's been at this
28:34place.
28:35When Mom was diagnosed with cancer several months back, she had a very large mass right
28:40between the shoulder blades.
28:43After other further scans, it showed that it was metastatic cancer, and it had spread to
28:49her thyroid, her breast, both lungs.
28:52So, it had progressed significantly.
28:56And at the hospital, Nana, you know, had said to all the doctors that she does not want
29:02to treat it.
29:03She's just going to ride this thing out.
29:06You know, I think deep down, Mom doesn't want to go through the illnesses that come
29:12along with the treatments.
29:14She says, I'm going to go out with dignity.
29:16All of the kids, they're old enough to understand what's going on, and they understand Nana's wishes
29:21to not treat the cancer.
29:23And, you know, I believe the entire family supports Nana's wishes, and we just, we hope
29:30and pray and wish for comfort for Nana.
29:33And that's all we can do.
29:35You know, obviously, she's not walking.
29:37She's not ambulatory at all.
29:39So, now that she's at the nursing home, her most prevalent symptom is very, very, very
29:45high pain levels.
29:47So, they are able to manage her pain and keep her comfortable.
29:52In general, there are times when we visit, and she's very tired, and she's sleepy, and she
29:58doesn't want to socialize very much.
30:01And then there's times when...
30:03She's very snarky.
30:04You know, truthfully, we like to see that, because we know that, you know, Nana's still
30:09there, and she's comfortable.
30:13Something like that would look good.
30:15Yeah, we'll make it pretty.
30:18Put the...
30:19Oh, good, Laura.
30:20Y'all really going to give her her scotch?
30:21In the middle?
30:21Yeah.
30:22Or this?
30:23And then there's some in the fridge.
30:25Look in the fridge.
30:27We'll take her some chicken livers.
30:28She loves chicken livers and beer.
30:30It wouldn't be a basket for Nana if it didn't have her favorite things, one being chicken
30:35livers, and then the other one being cold beer and scotch.
30:38And this will be good for Nana's little friends at the nursing home.
30:42Oh, they can share.
30:44Yeah.
30:44Just pass the bottle around.
30:48I think Nana will like all the gifts that we got her.
30:51Y'all can go take this, and then you guys can FaceTime us.
30:55We got her a little bit of everything in her care package.
30:58I think she'll like everything.
30:59We need a syringe, one of those big syringers, so I can just, like, draw some...
31:03Like a turkey baster?
31:04Yes.
31:05Like a turkey baster.
31:05Like a turkey baster.
31:05Draw some.
31:06Say, open up, Nana.
31:27This afternoon, we are packing for Bryson Leighton's first conference.
31:32Hey, baby.
31:33You can sit in a chair with her.
31:35She's got to wake up.
31:37Let's get up, ladybug.
31:41Look.
31:42She gets to wear it, isn't it, so cute?
31:46Are you sure everything's going to fit in one suitcase?
31:48I can always make anything fit in a suitcase.
31:51For seven days?
31:52Yep.
31:52When it comes to packing for any vacation, just having all of our clothes in one suitcase is easy,
31:58especially since we know that we have to bring a stroller and a car seat with us and her bed.
32:03So, one suitcase instead of three suitcases with those three extra items, that'd be way too much.
32:09Are you ready to get your California on?
32:13You'll be a California girl.
32:14But this is also your first convention, so you get to kind of see a world like ours.
32:19Yeah.
32:20Normally, these kind of conventions, they bring a lot of little people out, between like 1,500 to 2,000
32:25little people that come.
32:26Good gosh.
32:27So, like, all around the world, pretty much.
32:29By going to a little people's conference, you see all types of little people.
32:34You see all types of families.
32:36The parents may be little people, and then their children are average size, or vice versa.
32:41So, I feel like it's just a good opportunity to have the exposure, just seeing how families can be made
32:48up so differently.
32:50I'm excited for Leighton to meet, like, LP Tots.
32:54I love seeing the babies and the toddlers and all the little kids.
32:59As an average height person, going to my first LPA convention, I definitely will be a little nervous,
33:08because I've never been to anything like this before, and I just don't want to feel left out.
33:13You know, with me being average and seeing all these little people, I know I got Elizabeth by my side.
33:18Just me being a tall person, just, I just didn't want to feel left out.
33:22We've got Leighton.
33:25Where's Leighton?
33:26There she is.
33:29Where's Leighton?
33:30There she is.
33:31I'm going to be asking Carol and Daisy to be my bridesmaids, but I really think they're going to be
33:36surprised that I'm doing it at the convention.
33:38Yeah.
33:38Carol and Daisy are two of my best friends.
33:41Carol I've known since I was a toddler, and Daisy I met at the Orlando conference in 2018.
33:48We have all been so close.
33:50I'm absolutely thrilled to ask them to be my bridesmaids when I see them in San Diego.
33:55You know, this is my first time going to California, so being around there on the coast over there, I'm
34:00like, yeah, I got to bring my fishing rods.
34:03You're not going to bring your fishing rods.
34:04We can't bring them, because we already have a lot of stuff we're carrying.
34:06I drew the line at fishing poles because he would be way too focused on them damn fishing poles than
34:12anything else that we'd have.
34:13And I didn't need extra stuff.
34:15No.
34:16I'm packing my fishing poles next time.
34:18Great.
34:19How do you think Leighton's going to do on this trip?
34:22She's a fabulous traveler.
34:24We know that.
34:24She does great when we're traveling.
34:26But her sleeping on me now, since she's so long, I'm not going to be able to get down in
34:31the airplane seat and hold her like this, because, oh, my God, my back would be...
34:36The last time we had flown together was in Puerto Rico, and she was less than half the size.
34:42So now I'm not going to be able to hold her as easy.
34:45When she was younger, she wasn't really too bad on planes.
34:49She would really just sleep the whole time.
34:51I mean, she has one nap a day now, and it's only a couple of hours.
34:53So she's probably going to be awake most of the time on the plane.
34:57So I'm sure me and Elizabeth are going to try our best to try to entertain her the whole flight
35:02to keep her happy.
35:04All right.
35:06So we are ready for the morning.
35:09I know.
35:20Oh, here we go.
35:23I can't see him.
35:24Okay, I can't see you.
35:26Em?
35:26Wait, there you go.
35:27Now I'm just going to see you.
35:28I can barely see you.
35:30Tonight, Dad and I are visiting Nana at her nursing home, and we're going to drop her care package off
35:36before we leave for San Diego.
35:41Yeah, Emma's connection is unstable.
35:43So where Nana's nursing home is, there's not really any good cellular data.
35:47So there's just a lot of the technical difficulties involved.
35:51Yeah.
35:52Oh.
35:53No.
35:53I don't know.
35:55She's already seen her blanket.
35:56Okay.
35:57I love it.
35:58It's beautiful.
35:58It is so soft.
36:00She said, I see something in that basket with a black top on that bottle.
36:04Her personality is still pretty much there, so Nana's Nana.
36:07So I think she's doing pretty good right now.
36:10Did Nana see her board yet?
36:12That's it.
36:13We'll show her.
36:14You can get a board.
36:15What?
36:15We made you another board.
36:17Oh, okay.
36:20Do you know everybody on this board?
36:22Joe, Alex, Tara, you, Emma, Amber.
36:32Who's that in the middle picture?
36:34Oh.
36:36Elizabeth and her husband.
36:38Almost husbands.
36:39What do you mean almost husbands?
36:41They're not married yet.
36:42Oh, okay.
36:43Yeah, they're getting married later.
36:45Given Nana's diagnosis and her state of health, it is unlikely that she will be here for the wedding.
36:52So we are all trying to emotionally prepare for that.
36:56They had brought her some 4th of July glasses.
36:59Oh, nice.
36:59Oh, okay.
37:00Put those on.
37:01I told her, throw out some peace signs.
37:02Just two fires.
37:04Yeah, just two things.
37:04Oh, yeah.
37:05One, three.
37:06I feel like our visit and the package cheered Nana up, but I do feel like the bottle of scotch
37:13and the chicken livers made her day.
37:16Dammit, I want you to eat one.
37:19Emma, try one.
37:20Oof.
37:21I'm good, you know, you can have the whole thing.
37:23I want one.
37:24I didn't want the chicken liver and I'm not eating a liver.
37:26They never sound appetizing to me and I don't think I'll ever try one.
37:30Yeah, the liver and the gizzards.
37:32Oof.
37:33I don't eat filters.
37:36I don't let a dog lick me in the face and lick me and give me kisses.
37:40I don't eat chicken livers.
37:42We're going straight up here.
37:44Okay.
37:45All right.
37:46Love you, Nana.
37:46Love you, Nana.
37:47Bye.
37:56Everyone is excited to go to San Diego.
37:58We do have a lot going on.
37:59The wedding, Nana's in the nursing home and under hospice care, but I think we're all just ready to relax
38:06and have a good time this week at our conference.
38:08In our group, Bryce, Allie, and Layton are the three that have never been to California.
38:15Hopefully this conference will be fun, but the travel part, yeah, we will see how this goes.
38:27All of us got up at 4.30 in the morning, and Layton was tired too.
38:37It is not common for Layton to be crying.
38:44As long as Layton's crying, I hope the Bloody Marys are good.
38:48Woo-hoo!
38:52This season on Seven Little Johnstons.
38:58Go, Ash!
39:00Holy f**k!
39:03Oh, my God.
39:07We have officially arrived in San Diego for this year's conference.
39:11Oh, my God.
39:12We're in the water.
39:16Put your gloves straight at the bird.
39:18Ashley, she's like, oh!
39:23Oh, I want to get the potato wedges.
39:25Thank you, f**k!
39:26Going to the fair, people stare at us, take pictures of us.
39:31We should be able to enjoy a carnival just like everyone else, but we can't.
39:38We are planning to have the wedding in my parents' backyard.
39:41Right now, we are a quarter of the way through.
39:43We're all feeling the stress.
39:45Where is your arches going to be?
39:46On top of the hill.
39:47Thought you're building a platform.
39:48I want to know, how do you like it?
39:50I like it a lot.
39:51Our wedding is not some redneck shindig.
39:54Happy wedding day!
39:56I just found out I got into nursing school, but I got to rule something out.
40:00Who knows?
40:01Baby number two could be in progress right now.
40:08It is wet.
40:09It is rainy.
40:09It is muddy.
40:11Golf carts aren't going to get up and down.
40:14All of this has been ruined within two hours.
40:17More rain is coming.
40:18We really have to pray that the rain just goes away in time for the ceremony.
40:22Ugh.
40:23I may be walking down the aisle in the pouring rain.
40:25I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:29I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:30I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:31I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:31I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:31I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:32I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:33I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:34I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:34I may be walking down the aisle in the morning.
40:36I may be walking down the aisle in the aisle.
40:36I may be walking down the aisle in the aisle.
40:36I may be walking down the aisle in the aisle.
