00:00Well, you know, our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this, and particularly our partners at Air Canada, who
00:07lost two meters.
00:10But the aviation system is still by far the safest way to travel, and I have great confidence in the
00:17aviation system.
00:18And one of the things that's great is that any time any incident happens, it's a tragedy, but we learn
00:25from it.
00:25We're incredibly open and honest about what went wrong to create it so that we can prevent it from happening
00:33again.
00:34I'm sure that we'll find some of those in this situation.
00:38But, you know, bigger picture, I also feel really good for really the first time in my career about what
00:46is happening at the FDA.
00:47We have an administration that's supportive, Secretary Duffy, that is all in on full staffing and modernizing the technology of
00:56the FAA.
00:57And Administrator Bedford, who used to fly some of those airplanes for us when he was the CEO of the
01:02Republic,
01:02but who just, you know, understands it and knows, like, we have the best team that we've ever had running
01:07FAA.
01:09And there's a lot of good things that are happening, you know, like, we talked about this is a tragedy,
01:13we talked about it, we should.
01:14But Newark, you know, is now staffed better than it's been, at least as long as I've been, at United,
01:20and I think later this year.
01:21For the first time, Newark will get to 100% staffed.
01:24There's also a lot of good things happening.
01:27And, you know, there's an incremental request coming from Secretary Duffy for $67 million for the technology we started on
01:33the first part.
01:33I will encourage everyone on both sides of the aisle to support them.
01:39I've got several calls with Senators today.
01:42I'm TSA, you're probably going to ask about that, too.
01:44But I will also plan to just convince them to ask them to support this as well.
01:49So, you know, as tragic as this was, and it was tragic,
01:54I do feel good about we are finally making investments in air traffic control to make the system even more
02:01reliable and safer and more.
