00:00Touch table on some football here.
00:03Let's see what the hell we're getting into.
00:04David, if it doesn't burden you too much, the music, please.
00:11So we're going to start in Dallas here with the NFL draft talk,
00:15because there's a few things coming out of Dallas and no,
00:17not Jerry Jones almost falling.
00:19You are out of hand.
00:21I just saw that by the way.
00:23Yeah.
00:24For those that didn't see it, the president,
00:26President Clinton visited them, came through as they were talking draft.
00:29Jerry Jones got excited to go talk to him and almost fell,
00:32tripped over the chair trying to go talk to him.
00:34But let's get to the actual news, because after that,
00:38Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephon Jones told reporters that
00:44they decided that George Pickens will play on the franchise tag this year.
00:48Good.
00:49They won't have long-term deal talks.
00:52Why would you?
00:53Dude's a nutcase.
00:54Hey, hey, look, CeeDee Lamb got hurt in a must-win game in Detroit.
00:57What did he do?
00:58Guy looked like he was hanging out with Jordan Balfour at Pounding Quaaludes.
01:01I'm not paying you long-term.
01:03You can show up for work 17 weeks, not be a goofball, and perform.
01:09It's the right thing to do.
01:10And if George doesn't like it, the next place he'll be,
01:12he'll be selling Blackstones at Home Depot.
01:14He'll be somewhere else.
01:15You're exactly right.
01:16Sorry.
01:17Go ahead.
01:18He's right.
01:18I'm just tired of it with that guy, man.
01:21Because play it out this year.
01:23Show us that you deserve a long-term deal.
01:27And you're right.
01:27Because that Detroit game, that was money he left on Ford Field.
01:33He just looked awful.
01:35And I was like, yeah, I would not resign him if I'm the Cowboys.
01:38One more thing here on the Cowboys is that the reports say that they are not operating passively for the
01:44draft
01:44and exploring multiple trade pathways to trade up.
01:47If you're running the Cowboys, who are you trading up for?
01:55Look, for me, they've really done a good job getting that defense retooled.
02:03I think they're a player or two away on that side of the ball.
02:07Offensively, look, there were, I mean, what would you say, Rico?
02:10Majority of the year, they were a really good offense last year.
02:12I think if they trade up, David, it'll probably be one of the three Ohio State defensive players.
02:19Because they're already sitting at 12.
02:22So maybe they try to move up and get whichever one of the three falls down.
02:27Or they just get really bold and go up to pick three.
02:30Well, I'm glad you mentioned that.
02:32Because that leads me to another thing here for Caleb Downs, who is one of those Ohio State players here.
02:39A report here from Jeremy Fowler.
02:40Multiple teams have told me that Downs, as a pure football player, might be the draft's best overall player.
02:47But they've struggled with drafting him that high based on his position.
02:53So I'm going to go through a couple players that were drafted in the top 10 at his position, the
02:58safety position.
02:59Would you do it over this guy?
03:02Eric Berry was drafted number five, 2010.
03:05Caleb Downs better than Eric Berry?
03:07Yes.
03:07Okay.
03:09Jamal Adams, 2017, number six.
03:12Yes, but at the time, you've got to remember, Jamal Adams was taken on traits, physical ability.
03:19Nobody had ever seen a safety play at that height, weight, physicality.
03:24It just didn't pan out.
03:26Injuries played a role.
03:28He had a couple really nice years, though.
03:30It's a different type of player.
03:32Downs doesn't have these Hall of Fame traits.
03:35He's the smartest guy.
03:37But he isn't north of six feet tall.
03:40He doesn't play at 235 pounds.
03:43It's a different player.
03:44But if they say, and many scouts, and we all know, we all think he's probably one of the best
03:49players in a draft, then just draft a guy.
03:51Yeah, 100%.
03:52You know what, David?
03:52I've often said that.
03:53It's like, well, you can't draft him that high.
03:55Why?
03:56That's who you wanted.
03:57Yeah, but what?
03:58People are going to laugh at you?
03:59Not if he turns out to be a stud.
04:01They're all going to say, wow, I wish we didn't pass on him.
04:06So we've heard multiple reports about trades up.
04:10Many people want to do that or many trades in the first round.
04:14So last year, there were five draft day trades in the first round.
04:18There were five in 2024, seven in 2023, nine in 2022.
04:24And according to the Chiefs general manager, Brett Veach, he's predicting that it's going to be a very active Thursday
04:31with plenty of trades.
04:33But then others say there won't be as many trades.
04:36Do people have any idea what it's going to be tomorrow?
04:39I don't.
04:40Maybe Rico does.
04:40No, David, I would say if any trades happen, I think they will happen for like the top 10 picks.
04:46But after that, everybody else is kind of the same.
04:50And unless you just really love a player, after pick 10, I don't see many trades.
04:56And then I'm going to close it out with this name.
04:59Diego Pavea, one of Vanderbilt quarterbacks.
05:03Undraftable.
05:04Strongest traits.
05:05He says it's his confidence.
05:06He says he believes his skills rival any QB in this draft.
05:11Cool.
05:11I think, Mike, you already answered the question.
05:12What would you do with him?
05:14I think he lost everything when he was at the Heisman ceremony afterwards and didn't win.
05:20And his people obviously don't like him.
05:23Like, Diego, give me your phone.
05:25No, no, no.
05:26Don't put the.
05:26Oh, my goodness.
05:27Yeah.
05:28He showed me right then and there.
05:30You're not ready for prime time.
05:33He's undraftable.
05:34I already said it.
05:35You know what I'd do with him?
05:36I'd throw him in the garbage.
05:38I don't want nothing to do with him.
05:39Guys, 5'9".
05:40Get out of here.
05:41I think you are exactly right on that.
05:43That is in football today.
