00:00Picture this. You're sitting at your work desk, exhausted, overwhelmed and stressed,
00:05likely feeling emotionally unstable, unorganized and certainly uninspired.
00:10But then your boss walks in, adds fuel to the fire and piles up your list of tasks, meetings and
00:16errands.
00:17Let's face it, you probably don't have to picture it because you know exactly how this feels.
00:22According to Real Simple, there's a way your day can be exactly that.
00:27The method is mindfulness. Scott Shute, founder and CEO of Changing Work, says,
00:33practicing mindfulness lowers stress and increases productivity,
00:36which ultimately contributes to an employee's success both inside and outside of work.
00:42The site reiterates, mindfulness doesn't need to be the time-consuming, esoteric phenomenon you might think it is.
00:49It can actually be practiced from your desk in three simple stages.
00:53A basic body scan, visualization and breathe.
00:57With the latter, exhale completely.
01:00Then inhale slowly and fully.
01:02Hold your breath at the top for a few moments before exhaling and thinking of a calming phrase such as,
01:08letting go.
01:09Then hold your breath at the bottom for a few moments to repeat.
