00:00Why Secular Culture is Beneficial for Evangelicals but Dangerous for Catholics
00:04In the evangelical religion, believers do not cooperate in any way toward their salvation.
00:10They are saved freely and undeservedly, by faith in Christ alone and in his merits alone.
00:17Placing salvific trust in human moral effort is a form of idolatry that offends God and
00:22diminishes Christ's perfect work on the cross. Engaging with worldly environments and culture
00:27allows evangelical believers to become aware of their sinful nature and of their total dependence
00:32on infinite, unconditional grace. Instead of clinging to their own moral performance,
00:38they learn to cling to Christ alone. Until the end of their lives, evangelical believers are
00:44simultaneously righteous and sinners. It is the definitive rejection of faith, not isolated sins,
00:51that threatens their salvation. Thanks to Solus Christus, Sola Gratia and Sola Fide,
00:56the evangelical religion is anti-moralistic. The case of Catholics is the opposite. They must
01:04decisively cooperate in their salvation through moral cooperation. Catholics lose their salvation
01:10with every mortal sin, whether in actions, words, or desires. Catholics in a state of grace are
01:17considered intrinsically righteous. The Catholic religion is moralistic. Catholic spirituality is
01:24a veritable minefield. Secular culture, especially pop music, seriously threatens the salvation of
01:31Catholics. For this reason, it makes perfect sense for Catholics to avoid secular culture in order to
01:37escape eternal damnation.
