00:03Here's a look at the tale of the bet for our main event a slight height and reach advantage for
00:10Alicia the bomb Baumgartner who defends her title tonight against Bomi Rae Shin. Both of these
00:15fighters from Korean descent that was important for Alicia Baumgartner and a point that she wanted
00:20to make sure she mentioned in this promotion and why she picked Bomi Rae Shin. Yeah there was uh
00:25kind of a kinship between these two fighters right we're normally used to seeing a little
00:29more animosity in Alicia Baumgartner fight build-ups but don't let that fool you they're
00:34going to be going at it in this main event. Ladies and gentlemen the wait is over live from New
00:47York City
00:48it is now time for our main event of the evening.
00:53Ten three minute rounds for the IBF, WBA, WBO, and Ring Magazine Unified Super Featherweight Championships

01:33event known for her
01:34high volume her relentless work rate Shin steps into a defining moment with a chance to shock the world
01:41in her second world title opportunities. We saw what Shin could do against Caroline Dubois but for large
01:49portions of her career Shin was chasing an all-Korean clash with Yunmi Choi it would have been a massive
01:55fight
01:56in Korea. Instead she gets something even bigger, the main event at MSG.
02:12And now her opponent, spying out of the blue corner, the defending world champion, accompanied in the ring by
02:24the New York legend Lil' Kim. Ladies and gentlemen, the bomb Alicia Bob Gardner.

07:00Bobby Ray Shin.
07:08And now her opponent, the defending world champion, fighting out of the blue corner,
07:14wearing the white trunks with red and gold trim.
07:19She stands five feet, five inches tall.
07:22She weighed in at 129.8 pounds.
07:27Tonight, she enters the ring with a near-perfect record of 17 victories,
07:32versus just one defeat, with one no contest.
07:35With seven of those wins coming by way of knockout.
07:39And she fights out of Dallas, Texas, by way of Fremont, Ohio, USA.
07:48Ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at the current, the reigning, the defending,
07:55the unified, IBF, WBO, WBA, and Ring Magazine.
08:03Super featherweight champion of the world.
08:07Ladies and gentlemen, she is the bomb, Alicia Bob Gardner!
08:41Hi, ladies.
08:42Getting ready to see the instructions.
08:44Obey my commands.
08:45protect yourself all time touch glove let's do it sparkly the third woman in
08:51the ring tonight christina poncher corey erdman and mvp prospect tam tebow has
08:57joined us here in the booth tam thank you welcome back thank you thank you for
09:02having me i'm excited excited to watch this fight i'm excited all week and i
09:06just want to provide now that we have a moment a quick update on a shadesha
09:11green i have been told she is cautious conscious speaking breathing and doing
09:17well so some very positive news to share on shadesha green's condition as we get
09:23ready here to start round one of our main event tonight the ring wba ibf and wbo
09:30world titles on the line the champ alicia baumgarner in the white baumay ray shin
09:36in the black this one scheduled for 10 three minute rounds not the traditional two minute
09:43rounds this one fighting equal time as the men three minute rounds here yeah and we talked about
09:48this earlier a lot of the discussion around three minute rounds for women was about how it would
09:53produce more knockouts but when you ask alicia baumgarner about three minute rounds what she
09:58talks about is the ability to slow things down to set things up to to make the judges even more
10:04aware
10:04of her work so even though you think baumgartner would be one of the beneficiaries of a little more
10:10time like that she thinks of it as a way to better set up her work and better display
10:17you know all about the three minute rounds tam yeah i do you know that's something that i'm
10:21very familiar with i did it i did the three minute rounds for nearly a decade in the amateurs
10:26and then my first couple of fights as a professional were three minute rounds and i do prefer it does
10:31give
10:31us more time to you know to show her craft to show her our boxing iq and so far at
10:37least she's been
10:37doing great she's patient she's relaxed her punches are sharp alicia baumgarner strong jab there and she
10:46told us as she looks to land the right hand which has been a very great weapon for her in
10:51her pro career
10:51that she wants to try to push the pace and push forward she doesn't want to let shin dictate the
10:58pace
10:58and be the aggressor yeah and you're seeing that here in the early going this is good ring geography
11:03so to speak for alicia baumgartner she's essentially created a force field with her power shots daring
11:10shin to try and walk through them now shin has shown us throughout her career she's very willing to
11:15do that but baumgartner is a different kind of puncher baumgartner representing oh my goodness good
11:22combination there from ab her south korean her korean roots in her ring attire and the things in her hair
11:31and in her shoes very important for her to represent tonight on this global stage this international
11:37stage her korean heritage as her grandmother is korean yeah korea as a whole certainly tuning in
11:43here tonight bomirei shin also a crossover star of source she's one of the stars of the first season of
11:49physical 100
11:58i'm very surprised at the pace i thought i'd see a little bit more action from bomirei shin
12:04and alicia is really managing the distance well i'm honestly impressed by her distance but this is
12:11something you know we knew she was good at perhaps pacing herself for the three minute rounds which bomirei
12:16shin is fighting for the first time yes in the three minute rounds
12:41there is derrick james in the corner of alicia baumgartner as we take a look at some of the action
12:45from round one
12:46yeah fabulous work here from alicia baumgartner you see the power in the lead hand we saw the right
12:52hands breaking through i'm sure alicia baumgartner would love to replicate this round over and over
13:00and you'd have to think if those types of shots continue to land at some point any fighter is going
13:06to start breaking down absolutely like she's she's very precise as we saw in the replay
13:11chin bow right on right on the chin so she's got the placement down i'm really really excited to see
13:17how this fight moves forward round two starts with a jab from baumgartner and again that center ring
13:26control just racing out to the center of the ring and ensuring that at least for now shin has to
13:32back up
13:33and then she's easing those right hands she has no choice
13:43and a good right hand there tries to gain for bony ray shin but right back comes
13:51baumgartner baumgartner doing some good work there to the body then finishing that combination up top
13:55is
14:00alicia baumgartner will have held at least one major title for nearly 53 months to this point making
14:07her among the longest active reigning world titleist and this for bomei rishin getting an opportunity now
14:13for a second fight at a world title this one though i think more on her natural weight class definitely
14:20she did fight caroline dubois 135 pounds this fight being contested at 130 pounds yeah and the
14:27thought around shin coming into this fight was that this would benefit her that you know that hyper
14:34aggression at this weight class yes would be better served that that the physicality would work in her
14:40favor now but again she is just stuck at the end of these power shots right now yeah she really
14:45is i mean
14:46i think she's gonna have to find a more creative way to get on the inside you have to find
14:51a way to
14:51make alicia smother her punches essentially um because at this distance i mean alicia's controlling everything
14:59but just at the perfect range to land right hands like that as
15:06sparkly breaks it up here in round two so plenty of time to work and as you said tam not
15:12really
15:12finding a way to set anything up off the jab for shin yet
15:21bomb gardener just missing with a massive right hand there
15:26bomb gardener staying outside mid-distance nice court punch combination lands for the champion
15:32bomb gardener just getting full extension full torque on these shots right now
15:38and maybe not what she said she would do because we know you know she said that she wants to
15:42work
15:42more on the inside but it's working so sometimes when you got a plan and you see something else is
15:47working that's okay too
15:51and she did say she wanted to make bow bow go backwards and even though bow has been coming
15:58forward some of this time alicia bomb gardener doing a great job fighting off the back hook she is a
16:03really
16:03good counter puncher as well yeah you're seeing bomb gardener do a little bit of both in the early
16:08stages of this round she was the one moving forward now she's showing she can counter shed what a left
16:16nice left hand there
16:18and the first round of the nba playoffs begins tomorrow and will have
16:40back on kd and the rockets taking on lebron and the lakers at 8 30 eastern 5 30 pacific on
16:46abc and the
16:48espn app ernie kenny charles and shaq tip off coverage at 8 pm they'll also be back at 11 eastern
16:558
16:55Pacific to break down our game and the other three game ones on the schedule
17:05Breaking down the action here tonight is Alicia Baumgartner off to a very solid start for the first two rounds
17:13Yeah, this is picture-perfect work from Baumgartner thus far
17:17Yeah, she has had a welcome target to get Shin as well. Yeah
17:21She's she's picking her punches properly, and I think the thing is though is Shin's very linear with her movement
17:27And come straight out here Tam to start round three almost like a rocket shot across the ring as she
17:35is
17:36continuing to
17:37Focus also on punch placement something she talks about often in promoting this fight
17:41But you see Shin is coming forward and she's just taking more risk
17:46To me it may pay it off a little bit more because at least she's getting a few punches in
17:51This way yeah, this is one of the issues for Shin in this fight is that
17:55Obviously there is nuance to what she is doing in pressuring but by and large she wins fights through attrition
18:01And she's facing someone in Alicia Baumgartner who one of the things that makes her special is her diversity of
18:07schooling where she
18:09Started in Fremont at the Fremont Records gym in Ohio
18:12She said she learned the Mexican style and of course she spends a lot of her life in Detroit
18:17You learn what they teach in Detroit that hitman style and now training with Derek James
18:22There are just so many looks that Baumgartner could give you
18:26But hey, maybe that'll work. How about a double-end takedown?
18:29Maybe definitely throw somebody off their game
18:31Just like she's doing now
18:40You see Derek James there in the
18:43Two box on the lower left side of your screen probably not
18:48Practicing many of those takedowns in training camp leading up to this fight
18:52But they knew that Bomi Rae was going to be a physical opponent and in fact
18:57She's an opponent as you're starting to see that can continue to gain momentum and get stronger as the fight
19:02goes on
19:02Yeah, and to Tam's point
19:04I think maybe this more unhinged version of pressure might be a better option for Shin
19:10It'll have to be because I mean if you give at least to her time, you know
19:13She's good at what she does right and you got to take her out of her comfort zone
19:16And she talks a lot about comfort and how she makes herself uncomfortable and I mean she's she's keeping her
19:22composure right now
19:23So I mean maybe she's prepared for this
19:25Maybe she hasn't quite awkward in this round especially, but Felicia can keep her composure and
19:31And keep that jab like she was in the first two rounds. Oh big overhand right
19:37connects for Felicia Baumgartner and Bo Rae Shin wears it on the chin
19:43And that was a downward arcing right hand as well
19:48Beautiful shot there from Baumgartner
19:52Even that shin is inching closer and closer Baumgartner finding ways to land heavy shots
19:57Yeah, she is. I mean she can punch. She's an explosive athlete and she's shown that time and time again
20:08Nice angle nice. Yeah, she's got at least has got good good angles. That's not something else that she does
20:13very well
20:13And I think people oh and a nice uppercut to boot at the 10 second mark here in round three
20:28Yeah
20:32Everything is proceeding very fast
20:36Now you use your hand you use your hand
20:41It's okay. You can take punches, but you're gonna forward
20:46And try to stretch your arm far and put your fist forward
20:53You understand me right
21:04And here's that big right hand from Baumgartner that we talked about one coming over the top
21:11That left hook splitting the guard of shin as well
21:15Here I think is
21:17That downward arcing right hand here it comes
21:22Frankly didn't land flush in the way that we thought it did in in real time
21:27But there were plenty of right hands that did
21:30And a quick time called by Sparkle Lee as the whole bag of ice completely spilled in the shin corner
21:37And there is a lot of water on that logo in the red corner and some ice as they do
21:42a bit of housekeeping and
21:44Yeah, the rangers play next door guys
21:46Exactly keep the ice out of the theater and they pick right back up here for round four
21:55And even in shin's corner the thing it's okay
21:57You you can take punches continue to come forward, but you got it
22:00Oh, she won't a big punch she just took right there
22:03Buckled the legs of shin
22:05Shin in some trouble now when she tries to roll
22:08And actually gets her head slammed
22:11Against the pad there on the turnbuckle
22:13That won't be a knockdown but shin
22:16Is not in good condition right now
22:19There's a lot of time left two and a half minutes and Elisa
22:23Elisa's got her buckled
22:26Well, I mean it on cue her corner did tell her she can take some punches
22:29I don't think they wanted her to take a shot like that
22:31No, that's all that was a really nice punch for Elisa
22:34Yeah, how much do you want to test that hypothesis?
22:37Right
22:39She seems to have recovered somewhat well here still two whole minutes to work here in round four
22:46I mean credit to the recuperative abilities of Bomi Rae Shin
22:50Her legs were all over the place like 20 seconds ago
22:53And suddenly she looks as stable as she has been in the beginning stages of the fight
23:01Elisa's being really smart about it though
23:02She's not rushing she's taking her time she knows she has the time she knows she has the power
23:09Looking to set up that big right hand
23:12The one that stopped terry harper in her tracks and put alicia baumgarner
23:18On the map really from that point on
23:21And she is pouring it on here
23:22Shin looks to land her right hand and there's another one and right back with a straight counter right hand
23:28for baumgarner
23:29Baumgarner has called that shot that she landed on terry harper the best punch she's ever thrown in her life
23:36She might be adding some shots to that list here tonight. She is landing some titanic stuff
23:50And shin a counter puncher in her own right but just not having much success being able to time those
23:56counters
23:56And part of it is because alicia baumgarner
23:59And her defensive prowess is something that they really worked on with derrick james in this training camp
24:04Knowing the type of fighter and the respect they had for shin
24:07Yeah, absolutely and then she's really
24:10I don't know at least she's gonna have some big shots tonight honestly some big big shots on shin
24:15But she could take them so far
24:19She's loading up uppercuts here on the inside as well those uppercuts are dangerous from alicia
24:28Down to the body with the right hand digs baumgarner
24:33Shin trying to throw on the inside as well
24:37Come on
24:39Forehead to forehead at the 10 second marker
24:41Step back, step back
24:44And another beautiful round from the champion
24:53From
24:54Take care with her
25:01Bomgarner visibly hurting bomey ray shin
25:04For the first time in this round, albeit not for long
25:08We talked about the recuperative abilities of jiin
25:10Look at the condition she was in to then bounce back from that moments later.
25:16And these are the uppercuts we're talking about.
25:18Those lanes, Tam, are starting to open up for them with more and more regularity.
25:23Oh, yeah. That was a mean uppercut. Jeez.
25:35Don't rush.
25:41Try with the light, right hand.
25:49As the shin corner gets some translation there telling their fighter not to rush.
25:54I mean, let's keep in mind these are three-minute rounds.
25:57This is the first time Shin has ever fought a fight with three-minute rounds.
26:02And although she is, as we talked about earlier,
26:04the type of fighter that comes on strong middle and late,
26:08this is still uncharted territory as far as if we get into these later rounds,
26:12how that engine can kind of keep chugging along.
26:15So a good reminder for her corner to maybe slow things down a little bit.
26:18Absolutely. And it's a completely different pace.
26:21You know, in two minutes or three minutes or a different pace.
26:23And I think she felt that.
26:25You know, I think that it's different.
26:28Especially in a fight. Training and fighting are two different things.
26:31Quick and uppercut for Baumgartner again.
26:34And looking at body shots as well.
26:36And Bomei Raishin just wants to stand there and take these shots.
26:40No step back.
26:42She continues to come forward despite Alicia Baumgartner landing some hard shots.
26:49No quit in her. My goodness, she's taken some solid ones here, Hori.
26:55She's walking face forward at one of the most dangerous punchers in women's boxing.
26:59And she's taking these shots as well.
27:06What did we talk about off the top of the broadcast, Christina?
27:09That these two styles, when you put them together,
27:12they make for a perfect television fight.
27:15Look at how these are blending.
27:18And they're both playing their part in this.
27:20Yes, Alicia Baumgartner is having a fabulous fight, but it's Shin's courage and willingness
27:25that is adding to the entertainment of this fight.
27:28And usually you would say, you know, credit to the matchmakers for making this bout.
27:32But Alicia Baumgartner kind of played matchmaker and called her own fate
27:35and calling out Bomei Raishin saying,
27:37that's the type of opponent that I want to fight to take this to the next level.
27:41To kick this thing off on ESPN in the main event.
27:48And maybe a little play in the fact that she did fight Caroline Dubois.
27:51I was about to say, maybe there's going to be a little bit of a litmus test.
27:54How did I do compared to how did you do?
27:58But there's still a long way to go.
28:00That's a long time to deal with Bomei Raishin still.
28:04Yeah, it really is.
28:06Because even if she's getting hit clean, she's still there.
28:10Like, she's still dangerous, right?
28:11Her style is a little awkward and boring.
28:14Come on, guys. Get out of here. Box out of here, guys.
28:16Let it go, let it go.
28:18Let it go, Alicia.
28:24As really no space needed for Shin as she is content throwing from close quarters
28:30even though Alicia Baumgartner is holding there.
28:34Trying to smother the work of Shin.
28:37Sometimes she does herself no favors when she fights in those close quarters
28:41because she smothers her own work.
28:44Yeah, yeah, yeah, I understand.
28:46And working on the inside is not easy.
28:48It's not a comfortable position to be in.
28:50Well, and also depending on where you're sitting to the judges,
28:53like, they're not seeing if any of those punches are landed
28:56even if they are with that sort of posture.
28:58That's listening to the corner now, Derek James and Alicia Baumgartner.
29:02Back on that stick.
29:04Walk her in there.
29:04Every shot you're doing, everyone do by here to create the distance.
29:08Breathe deep, breathe deep.
29:10Give me a deep breath.
29:12Give me another, I need another.
29:15Deep breath.
29:15On that stick.
29:16Make a walk into it.
29:18Boom.
29:20Take a look back at more of the work of Alicia Baumgartner from the previous round.
29:25And look at the variety of punches.
29:28The punch selection, the body shots, the uppercuts.
29:32Baumgartner showing offensive creativity.
29:36And we see the copy box punch stats through round five.
29:40Look at the accuracy.
29:4254% of Baumgartner's power punches are landing right now.
29:48That is just not a winnable fight if you're on the other side of those stats.
29:52Yeah, that's pretty precise how it does.
29:54Good as it gets, isn't it?
29:55Yeah, any time a fighter is landing at over a 50% clip,
29:59you're having a good night.
30:00You're winning every round.
30:02And that's why she works so hard and talks about, you know,
30:04being economical and having punch placement and not wasting shots.
30:11All things that she focused on in this training camp.
30:15Working to the body.
30:18Let it go, come on.
30:22Bomi Rae Shin told the Korean media,
30:25I want a slugfest.
30:27I hope Alicia doesn't run away and confronts me head on.
30:31And her trainer, Yoon Kang Joon, who's been her trainer since the very beginning.
30:35He added, Bomi Rae, she has never backed down from a slugfest.
30:41Well, Alicia is not running away.
30:43I'd say she's pretty, she's pretty head on.
30:45As head on as you can get, if I'm being honest.
30:48Strong jab, two of them there from Baumgartner.
30:58She's taking her time here in round six.
31:02After being halfway through the scheduled ten round fight.
31:07130 pounds, junior lightweight division.
31:12Baumgartner starting to step in with uppercuts from time to time.
31:16And that is just like that.
31:18Beautiful combination there.
31:19She catches one in return from Shin.
31:21And Shin's gonna do enough to keep you on is no doubt about it.
31:24No, if Bomi Rae Shin were going to be discouraged,
31:27it would've frankly happened earlier in her pro career.
31:31When she was making $500 a fight.
31:34When she was working at a bakery in the morning and handing out restaurant flyers at night.
31:38If she was gonna quit, she would've done it a long time ago.
31:42Absolutely.
31:42And you know, we can't cut her out.
31:44She's, she's there.
31:45She's in front of Alicia.
31:45She's fighting.
31:47She's, she's not going anywhere until she hits, unless she hits the canvas.
31:51And it's not looking like she is, she is tough.
31:56Baumgartner digging into the body.
31:58Point of emphasis.
32:00And trying to slow down the work rate of Shin in this training camp.
32:04And a nice uppercut lands on the inside.
32:08Listen, this was right around the time in the fight against Caroline Dubois
32:13when things started to get a little sticky for the champ.
32:16And I'm not saying that Shin is necessarily winning this round,
32:20but this is a more difficult round for Baumgartner here in the sixth.
32:24Oh, yeah.
32:24This is what she wanted.
32:25She wanted a Slugfest.
32:26This is, this is a Slugfest here as it gets.
32:28This is a festival.
32:29This is, come on, it's happening.
32:31This is what she wanted.
32:31It's all the things.
32:32Oh, yeah.
32:32That's right, Tay.
32:33That's right, Tay.
32:34What she wanted was to land more shots like that.
32:37A nice right hand to the body for Shin.
32:39But right back comes Baumgartner, who looks a little bit uncomfortable for the first time.
32:45And maybe it's because of big shots like that from the fighter from South Korea.
32:49He was pouring it on now at the end of round six.
32:53That was a good round for Shin.
32:55And you know what?
32:56This is what I wanted to see.
32:58This competitiveness, competitiveness between these two women is what I wanted to see.
33:03Alicia dominated the first half of the fight.
33:06Honestly, she was impeccable.
33:08Now we see Shin in her element.
33:11Where it's rough, where it's pretty, where it's not pretty, where things are flying from left to right.
33:17We love this.
33:19I love this competitiveness.
33:20I just, it's everything.
33:23As Jake Paul sitting by with his beautiful wife and an excellent athlete in her own right.
33:30As they watch our main event here.
33:33Alicia Baumgartner and Bomi Rae Shin.
33:37Did a little commentary tonight.
33:39Definitely in his promoter role as Bomi Rae Shin.
33:43And as you talked about Tam having what arguably her best round, probably her best round of the fight.
33:48Best finish to a round for sure.
33:50Absolutely.
33:51And I want to see more of it.
33:53I just, one-sided fights are okay, right?
33:56But I want to see two competitive women go at it.
34:01And this is what we're seeing right here in the second half of their fight.
34:04Yeah, we're getting right back to that Inside Fighting festival that you described, Tam, as the Oshiega of Inside Fighting.
34:11Look at this.
34:12Look at this.
34:13A festival of apricots.
34:15Four of them to start round seven.
34:26There is one person that looks more uncomfortable than the other and it's not the person that got knocked down.
34:33Still a smile on the face of Alicia Baumgartner.
34:36We can't forget, you know, Alicia is a seasoned boxer, right?
34:40She's a seasoned professional.
34:41She's been in there.
34:42She's done these world championship defenses.
34:44It's 53 months holding one belt.
34:47Like, that's a really long time, right?
34:49So, you know, we can't count her out either.
34:51She's a professional.
34:53She's a bad.
34:54No, and often times we hear fighters say, I want a fight like this.
34:59I want a war.
35:00So, even though things might be getting more uncomfortable for Alicia Baumgartner, you see the smile on her face as
35:05if to say, yeah, look at the entertainment I'm providing.
35:09I'm in this.
35:10Absolutely.
35:11I couldn't agree more.
35:12I'm very curious on how Alicia is going to adapt from this.
35:16Because I feel like there's a switch.
35:17Shin was right.
35:19We're going to fight it out.
35:20It's cat fight, slug fight, you name it.
35:22We're going to fight.
35:23We're going to war.
35:24And she decided this.
35:25And that's what she's doing.
35:29And we talked earlier on about Baumgartner referring to being able to pace herself better in three minute rounds.
35:36It's one thing to control the pace in a three minute round.
35:40It's another thing when you aren't.
35:42And these feel, I'm sure, a lot different, Tam, when you are not the one dictating the pace.
35:47Oh, yeah.
35:48And I've been in that position before.
35:50I've been in the position going back to my corner.
35:51I've been like, okay, what do I do?
35:53Because clearly I'm running out of breath here, guys.
35:56But, again, the good boxers will adapt.
35:59And the good boxer will know how to pick up, how to speed up the pace, how to slow down.
36:04And she just picked her off with an uppercut from the right hand, almost baiting her into that.
36:09We talked about Alicia Baumgartner fighting the 12 three minute rounds in her last fight versus Leila Bludoin.
36:15But it was not at a pace like this in those rounds.
36:20Maybe taking a bit of a round off here for Alicia Baumgartner.
36:24Picking her shots, being a little more economical than we've seen her in other rounds.
36:28But maybe winning this round as well.
36:30I mean, she's engaging less, but she's the one that's landing here.
36:34And maybe this pot-shotting approach can take some of that momentum that Shin is building away.
36:41That's a nice left hook for Shin.
36:43Nice.
36:46She is tough.
36:47She also landed a left hand right there on Alicia Baumgartner at the 10 second mark.
36:53Some kind of tough as Shin.
36:59That was a different tactic of Alicia this round.
37:02But, hey, towards the end it was working.
37:03She was taking her shots.
37:04And we said in the open about how Alicia Baumgartner chose Bo Mirai Shin.
37:09And she said, quote, I want people to understand, when they send me opponents, I choose who I wanna fight.
37:14Coming off my last fight, I needed momentum.
37:17And that's what Bo brings.
37:19Yes.
37:20Oh, and she is bringing the momentum most definitely tonight.
37:25And that momentum is starting to build more and more as this fight goes on.
37:29She is bringing it.
37:30She is bringing it all night long.
37:34That's not the kind of fight I wanna be in.
37:35I ain't gonna lie.
37:36I prefer something a lot less.
37:39A little more demure.
37:41Yeah, a little bit more demure.
37:42A little bit more demure.
37:45But anyway.
37:45If you gotta do it, you gotta do it.
37:47Let me tell you.
37:48If I gotta get into a float fest too, then I will.
37:50Listen, I will get into a cat fight.
37:52I will.
37:52I will do it.
37:54I will not be comfortable.
37:55I will do it.
37:55I will do it gracefully.
37:57At least I will try.
38:01Round eight of this scheduled ten round world championship fight.
38:06Nice uppercut with the right hand and then down to the body for Baumgartner.
38:14So Baumgartner came out talking to Shin there.
38:17See the attitude of Alicia Baumgartner coming out a little bit more.
38:20You see him shoving Shin against the ropes.
38:23Trying to assert dominance once again here in the eighth.
38:34Trying to hold, turn, walk the challenger back.
38:42Shin trying to land one of those uppercuts herself.
38:45This is pretty footwork here from Baumgartner.
38:48Yeah, it is.
38:48She's controlling where Shin is.
38:52What I'd like to see from Shin is maybe throw a little bit more at her chest.
38:55Right?
38:55Because her head can move, but the chest is attached to her leg.
38:59So it ain't really going nowhere.
39:04Pace slowing down just a bit here to start round eight in the first minute.
39:10Well, it's not for a lack of effort from Bomi Rae Shin.
39:14The pace is slowing because of Alicia Baumgartner.
39:17Again, her ability to wrestle control of this fight, to change the tempo when it seemed like it might have
39:23been rolling downhill in a bad direction.
39:25Mm-hmm.
39:26Yeah, she adapted.
39:26She turned it around and she decided to do something different.
39:29Which is what a vet will do.
39:31It's what a seasoned boxer will do.
39:34Shin ripped a shot to the body from the left hand, but because Baumgartner has been on the move, Shin
39:39hasn't been able to establish much offense here in this round.
39:43Yeah, but I mean, she could cut the ring off a little bit more.
39:45I feel like, you know, she's, Alicia is moving her where she wants, but she could be smarter and cut
39:51the ring off and try to limit that movement.
39:54Excellent point from our resident analyst here tonight, Tam Thiebaud.
40:00She wanted to be fighting tonight.
40:01She was going to be fighting tonight, but her opponent had visa issues.
40:05Someone said she's sitting in on commentary, and we very much appreciate her expertise here on ESPN.
40:12As we're under 45 seconds left here in round eight.
40:16Get out there.
40:16Let her go.
40:17Let her go.
40:23Shin is still bringing pressure, but if you're scoring this round, I mean, the shots that Baumgartner is landing, they're
40:31so clear.
40:31They're so obvious.
40:32They're jolting the head of Shin back.
40:35And Baumgartner is looking very comfortable fighting at this pace.
40:39Speaking of how she did a good job getting her head off the line from some of those return shots
40:43from Shin.
40:47Again, I really just want to see a little bit more efficient footwork from Shin.
40:50I think it would make the fight a lot more exciting.
40:53I think now it's starting to become a little bit more one-sided.
40:56Yeah, when Baumgartner didn't want to stand and throw with her in close quarters, for sure.
41:12It's dangerous.
41:13It's dangerous.
41:14If you don't catch her running away, it's dangerous now.
41:19What you have to do?
41:21What you have to do is...
41:25What you have to do is...
41:27You should hit on the part so that she raises...
41:32She puts down her hand and then go uppercut.
41:39You shouldn't let her run away.
41:41You have to...
41:42You have to block her from running away.
41:46Maybe you can...
41:47Clinch.
41:49Do you understand?
41:51Don't let her get away.
41:52Don't let her get away.
41:53Don't let her get away.
41:54So that's what you were talking about, Tam.
41:56Doing a better job of cutting off the ring.
41:58Not letting her...
42:00Get away and exit on either side.
42:02Yeah, exactly.
42:03Exactly, you know.
42:03And it's also about where she's aiming.
42:05Alicia, she's gonna move in her head.
42:06You can't hit the head.
42:07Where do you go?
42:08You go to something that's attached to the bottom.
42:10And that is her chest.
42:11And that's why they said that's what you need to do to try to slow her down.
42:14Throw some shots to the body and then make the hands come down.
42:17Then you can attack up top.
42:19Exactly.
42:20And to just keep coming forward.
42:23It's hard to imagine another level of pressure that Shin could reach here,
42:28but you'd have to think that she's gonna need it.
42:31Yeah, but also, I mean, throw in some feints.
42:33To be fair, I didn't see either boxers faint.
42:35I didn't throw...
42:36I did not see a single faint.
42:39Alicia's doing what she's doing, and it's working.
42:42But I think it would even be even more...
42:45It would be more impressive if she could, you know, really make Shin miss and then make her pay.
42:54Shin trying to go down to the body just like her corner employed her too.
42:59There a double jab trying to get Alicia Baumgartner to open up and cut off the ring as Alicia moves
43:08towards Shin's right hand.
43:13Yeah, which Shin's corner has been imploring her to let go of a little bit more.
43:19Shin said she was gonna make this the worst day of Baumgartner's life and make her taste hell.
43:26And indeed, she has given her some genuinely difficult rounds, especially in rounds six and seven.
43:33But this is looking like a cozier pace here for Baumgartner.
43:38Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree.
43:40And what I would like to see maybe a little bit more is a change of pace.
43:45I think now it's just kind of the same thing over and over again.
43:48And I mean, these ladies have the abilities to do it, right?
43:52Whether it's change between speed, change between power, some feints.
43:57That would make this fight even more entertaining than it already is.
44:04Short shots on the inside for both fighters as action now comes back to the center of the ring.
44:11That's where Shin wants Alicia Baumgartner right there so she can try to land those shots.
44:16But Baumgartner punching at the same time as Shin has kind of helped her defense,
44:20or her offense, excuse me, become her defense.
44:23Yeah, and I think punching with Shin, if there is a path to genuinely hurting Shin,
44:28which has proven nearly impossible for everyone, I think punching with her might be that path like that.
44:34That one at least caught Shin off balance.
44:42And even in the losses for Shin, they've all been by decision.
44:47One early in her career to a fighter making her pro debut,
44:50but the other two to Delphine Persoon and Caroline Dubois.
44:54Two very, very skilled world champion level fighters, world champions.
44:58She might have won that Persoon fight too.
45:00I mean, that one's debatable.
45:03And that, again, was at 130 pounds, not like where she had to go up to 135
45:07when she fought Caroline Dubois.
45:10Right there.
45:11Right there.
45:11Right over the top.
45:12The last round.
45:15Did you want it?
45:16Go get it.
45:17Go get it.
45:17Keep the composure.
45:18All right.
45:19And on the inside, one shot at the top.
45:23A defense is good on the inside.
45:24You rolling.
45:25Boop.
45:26Boop.
45:27Right there.
45:37Be fifty.
45:39Look.
45:41Gucci.
45:42Watch her with a nerve.
45:45Want her Isaac陳 Jones?
45:48We.
45:48We got her legs.
45:49I don't need it here.
45:49Left...
45:49-... nowhere else we do.
45:50All right Yug'm surprised.
45:50Well, let's go forward and the right side come down.
45:51Well, okay.
45:52All righters can hi- bucks.
45:53Come back on your head.
45:56And this is the 10th final round for the world's title.
46:01Let's hear it in the war.
46:05As the fighters touch gloves for the last round,
46:08you saw that graphic pop up for the power punches.
46:12Alicia Bongarner, although she's thrown less power shots,
46:15she's landing at a 47% accuracy rate
46:19on the amount of power shots.
46:20She's thrown a 301, connected on 141.
46:24Shin has thrown 396, connected on 111.
46:29Yeah, and it's astonishing looking at Shin in the corner
46:32and the way that she's coming out now.
46:34She's been hit with 50% of Bongarner's power punches.
46:38She's been fighting at an extraordinary pace.
46:41She says that physical fitness is her religion.
46:44She must have been praying at that altar
46:46for about 12 straight weeks
46:48to be looking like this right now,
46:50considering what she's absorbed.
46:51Yeah, there's some hard punches just taken.
46:54I can't lie.
46:54She's one tough cookie.
46:58I wouldn't want to take her on the chin like that.
47:00And if there was any question,
47:01if she was able to go these three-minute rounds
47:04for the distance, she's answered those questions
47:08as she still continues to come forward
47:10and stalk the champion,
47:11throwing it overhand right there that just missed
47:14as Bongarner shoots her right and steps out to her right.
47:17And one of the focuses in the Bongarner camp throughout camp
47:21with Derek James was efficiency.
47:24Eliminating wasted movement.
47:26And you see the efficiency in the shots of Bongarner
47:29being able to see and swim through the chaos
47:32that Shin is presenting.
47:33Yeah, and it's really nice to see, honestly,
47:36because it could have been a much harder fight for Alicia
47:39if she had gotten dragged into an all-out war,
47:43like how Shin had wanted.
47:44Really good stuff right here from the champ.
47:47She looks to pick off the challenger at range.
47:52Oh, and she threw a lot into that right hand, Corey.
47:55Listen, there are a lot of fighters in this weight division
48:00that wouldn't have taken these shots here tonight.
48:04Under a minute left in the fight.
48:09The WBA, IBF, WBO, and Ring magazine belts on the line.
48:15The champion Alicia Bongarner has put together
48:19a very solid performance from pillar to post,
48:23but not without a valiant effort from the challenger, Bomi Rae Shin.
48:30Here in New York City, Madison Square Garden Infosys Theatre MVP W2
48:37has delivered.
48:40This has been all action from bell to bell.
48:44Watch her hand, let her hand go, let her hand go,
48:47don't pretend now.
48:49And one last uppercut tries to get in there
48:53while they have the champ
48:56punched over that crouching position,
48:58and they will throw back and forth.
49:01Of course they will to the bell.
49:06What a fight.
49:09What a main event.
49:10Yeah, that was an exciting fight.
49:12And what a representation for women's boxing
49:15at the highest level on the biggest stage.
49:18The women got the seat at the head of the table here tonight,
49:22and they left no crumbs on their plate.
49:25No crumbs, just a lot of leather.
49:27They ate it up.
49:29They ate it up.
49:33Let's take a look at some of the action to end the fight.
49:37And of course, kind of like how it started, Corey, is how it ended.
49:42Just an extraordinary exchange to end the fight.
49:45And you see the respect that both women have earned from one another in that shot.
49:53Well, we're going to let the judges tally this one up on the scorecards,
49:58and we'll be back with the official decision after the break.
50:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.

52:21And still, the unified super featherweight champion of the world,
52:34the bomb, Alicia Baumgartner.

52:50your unified super featherweight world champion.
52:5499-91 on one of the Georgia's scorecards.
52:56Basically, 9 out of the 10 rounds, 98-92 on the other 8 out of the 10 rounds.
53:01We take a look at the total punch count.
53:03I mean, a very accurate night for the champion landing at a nearly 40% clip
53:08and even throwing more punches tonight than Bomi Raishin.
53:11We didn't know that that was going to be the number that was going to be in her favor.
53:15No, not at all.
53:15And frankly, considering the type of pressure that Shin was giving Baumgartner,
53:20it's an astonishing feat to out throw Shin while boxing on the back foot for a lot of the night.
53:27An excellent performance from Alicia.
53:28Yeah, it was a good performance.
53:29Honestly, she was efficient.
53:31She did what she had to do to come out with the win.
53:34And she put on a good show.
53:35And the champ is standing by with all the belts with our Arielle Helwani.
53:41Thank you very much, guys.
53:42Alicia, congratulations on another scintillating win.
53:46I'm wondering off the top, was she tougher than you expected her to be?
53:49Not at all.
53:50I knew she was tough.
53:51She's a Korean woman, baby.
53:53Were there moments in that fight when you were thinking to yourself,
53:56what more do I have to throw at this lady to get her out?
53:59Listen, all I knew is I had to be consistent with using my jab and setting things up.
54:03Bo was going to come regardless.
54:04So it was up to me to set the pace and set my shots.
54:08Are you happy with your performance?
54:09I am.
54:10Fuck, I made it here.
54:13Three minutes, three minutes, ten rounds on my period.
54:16Baby, stop playing with me.
54:19Thank you for that.
54:21How are you feeling with the three rounds now, the three-minute rounds?
54:24How are you feeling out there?
54:25Are you feeling comfortable with it?
54:26I'm feeling comfortable.
54:28Listen, it's an adjustment every time.
54:30Three minutes is a long time.
54:31I think it suits my style.
54:33I'm still growing.
54:33I'm still learning.
54:34I don't know everything, and I'm okay with that.
54:36You just go back and you keep getting better.
54:39One of the narratives, as you know, going into this fight was,
54:41can you get the stoppage?
54:43Can you make it an emphatic victory?
54:45It looked early on like you were going to be able to do that.
54:47Are you disappointed you weren't able to put her away?
54:50No, I'm not disappointed.
54:51I'm just happy that I was able, again, to be back in the ring,
54:54three minutes, put my punches together, look good doing it.
54:58You're not always going to get the stoppage,
54:59but I show levels to my boxing game, and that's important too.
55:02All right, so as you know, there's a lot of people talking about you.
55:05A lot of people want to fight you.
55:06Who do you want to fight next?
55:08Tell us right here and now.
55:09But first, I have to thank my Lord Jesus Savior Christ.
55:12That's why I'm here, for one.
55:14Two, I want to send special love to Shadeza.
55:17Shadeza, you know, life gets tough, but baby, we keep bouncing back.
55:21So much love to her.
55:22And going back to who I want to fight, Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano.
55:26What's up?
55:28Any message to Caroline Dubois?
55:29That's the one that a lot of fans want to see you fight.
55:32Like I said, I'm a piranha.
55:34That's a guppy.
55:35Get her out of here.
55:37Jake, can I ask, what do you think of Alicia's performance tonight?
55:40Yeah, this is what makes her the best in the world,
55:42the ability to adjust.
55:43In the later rounds, she started boxing on her back foot,
55:46picking her apart, having fun, bobbing, weaving, dipping,
55:49not letting the pressure get to her, staying calm.
55:52The cardio's on point, 30 minutes.
55:54She's making history, 10 three-minute rounds.
55:56People don't realize how hard that is to do.
55:58One of the first women in the world to be pushing that forward.
56:01So we're so proud of her and four belts.
56:07We want to see that happen.
56:09The whole world wants to see it happen.
56:10So, Katie, where are you at?
56:11Stop hiding in Ireland.
56:14How soon would you like to return?
56:16If everything works out your way, when could we see you again?
56:19Bring me back to the fall.
56:20I stay in the gym.
56:21It's my lifestyle.
56:22I want to continue being great and continue just breaking the barriers
56:26in women's sports, period.
56:28Finally, there's a lot of people here who have stayed up very late to see you.
56:31Anything you want to say to the crowd here in New York City?
56:34Listen, thank you to everybody who came out, purchased a ticket.
56:38Y'all some real die-hard fans.
56:39And I love y'all.
56:41Continue to keep pushing forward.
56:42And, baby, the bomb will be back very soon.
56:45New York, give it up for the Unified champ!
56:47And still, Alicia Bumgarner!
56:54Congratulations to AB, Alicia Bumgarner, your winner tonight.
56:58Walking out of here with her belts in tow and maybe setting up for a mega fight against Katie Taylor
57:04down the line.
57:04She also called out Amanda Serrano.
57:06Listen, I'm just trying to put two and two together here.
57:10Katie Taylor says she wants her last fight at the big stadium in Ireland.
57:14Could we see this fight in a stadium in Ireland?
57:18I'm here for it.
57:19I would love to be there for it.
57:21If anybody can do it, MVP can make it happen.
57:23All right, speaking of making it happen, let's take a look at what happened tonight on this historic night for
57:28women's boxing.
57:30We open the show with Nat Dove, who won a unanimous decision, excuse me, split decision victory over Maria Macheo.
57:36Then Crystal Rosado, won a unanimous decision tonight.
57:40Shadesha Green lost her world titles, Lonnie Daniels, by stoppage for the win and the new in our co-main
57:47event.
57:48Shadesha Green doing well, conscious.
57:51Thank you, Lord, on that.
57:52And then Alicia the Bumgarner is still your unified super featherweight champion.
57:59For Tamtevo, Jake, Paul, Nikisa Badarian, Corey Erdman, our entire crew in the truck.
58:06I'm Christina Pauncher.
58:07Thank you all for joining us.
58:08We're going to throw it now to SportsCenter.
58:10Take it away.
58:29Good night, days.
58:31Take it away.檢手.
