Who are the Georges in your life? Leeds locals have been reflecting on this ahead of St George's Day on 23rd April.
Transcript
00:00I did know a fantastic George. In my first job, I was really unhappy in the job, really stressed and
00:07I used to work with a colleague called George and he sort of advocated for me that there were a
00:14whole life outside of that job and encouraged me to go and find something else and I did and it
00:18was a really good decision so he was an excellent George.
00:21I don't want George. He's a producer, great guy. Yeah, I probably knew a lot more Georges in my youth
00:30but I've just got one George in my life and he's pretty cool.
00:36One comes straight to mind. It is a George Winscombe. George Winscombe coming out of Carverley. What a mate, what
00:43a boy. He's always played rugby union with me and if you saw him playing on the picture, it is
00:48always an amazing day seeing that guy.
00:51Just having a good time with a smile on his face and he supports the Portsmouth too. Get that in
00:57there for George.
00:58The one Georgino in my life is a very good friend of ours who lives actually near around there where
01:03we are today. He's also a dad of two and we bonded as dads so we kind of really bonded
01:09together and we have Wednesdays together.
01:11We take our kids off. We both have the day off work to look after our children and he's just
01:16become a really, really good friend and we've bonded really over becoming dads of two young children.
01:21Actually, that is one name that's never really crossed our paths.
01:25We don't have Georges in our family. I don't have only George friends.
01:28I could tell you millions of Johns.
01:30To be honest, I don't know many Georges in my life. However, I did have a work colleague, a volunteer
01:37at my old sports club back in Tottenham, George Blair.
01:41Yeah, so I don't know if he's going to see this because he's in London, but yeah, I'll give a
01:46shout out to my mate, George Blair.
01:47The only George that comes to mind for me is I used to do kickboxing quite a lot a couple
01:52of years ago.
01:53One of my most favorite people that would absolutely annihilate me every time we sparred was George, who was a
01:59black belt when I first came in.
02:01And basically some of the sensei's there. So I mean, it's kind of like, it was impressive. I kind of
02:07aspired quite a lot to get to that skill level.
02:09I think that's the first George I can already kind of have pop into my mind.
02:13There's a George in my brother's football team. And that's the only George I know. And a George in year
02:20seven.
02:21I'm a Christopher George. So, and me dad's a George and my granddad's a George and his. So we're a
02:30line of Georges and my son's middle name's George. So, yeah, so Georges are around.
02:36Personally, I don't know any Georges. The only two Georges that spring to mind are the Peppa Pig's George and
02:43Prince George. That's it.
02:47I don't believe I know any Georges. It's not that common a name, I don't think. One of my idols
02:55used to be George Best. So that's about all the George I don't think of.
