00:02:59I know we're taking a risk here, but I truly believe that extending the business to other surrounding towns and
00:03:06to other event areas besides weddings is going to be great.
00:03:11I really hate doing weddings, but I'm not convinced. Your event last weekend didn't quite pan out.
00:03:19I know, but this event is fully booked, and I'm positive everyone is going to love it.
00:03:25And you're positive they're going to give us great reviews, tell all their friends, and book us for an event
00:03:30next month?
00:03:31Yes?
00:03:33Great. I'll hold you to it.
00:04:01I'll hold you to it.
00:04:09I'll hold you to it.
00:04:12I'll hold you to it.
00:04:13I'll hold you to it.
00:04:22I'll hold you to it.
00:04:39Oh, hi!
00:04:42Are you folks here for the mystery puzzle night?
00:04:51Are you here for the mystery puzzle night?
00:04:53Are you here for the mystery puzzle night?
00:05:00No.
00:05:00I'm just grabbing a late dinner.
00:05:02Oh, okay.
00:05:09Are you giving up?
00:05:10I think it's a bust.
00:05:12How about I buy you a cup of coffee?
00:05:14Or a piece of cake?
00:05:17You know, nothing like sugar and caffeine help make you feel better.
00:05:41Hi again.
00:05:43You and your boxes.
00:05:45Um, are you here for the murder mystery dinner?
00:05:48Yep.
00:05:49Do you feel that sorry for me?
00:05:51This is not because I feel sorry for you.
00:05:53I just thought events like this weren't really your thing.
00:05:56Well, what can I say?
00:05:57You made me want to try it.
00:05:59It's a lot of fun.
00:06:00You're going to love it.
00:06:02You know, I think I am.
00:06:05Oh, let me get you settled.
00:06:08And let me give you your room key.
00:06:10You've got to do something about this.
00:06:13May I help you?
00:06:14I certainly hope so.
00:06:15You've got to cancel Matilda's ticket.
00:06:17I refuse to spend an entire evening with that woman.
00:06:21Matilda, um...
00:06:23Oh, her character's name.
00:06:25Are you playing Agnes?
00:06:26That's right.
00:06:27It says here you've purchased a ticket for both you and Matilda, and now you...
00:06:33I want to cancel her ticket.
00:06:35I paid for it.
00:06:36I want a refund.
00:06:37Well, you can't get a refund at this point.
00:06:41You would have had to have canceled a week in advance.
00:06:43I'm sorry.
00:06:44Fine.
00:06:45No refund.
00:06:46Let's call it...
00:06:47Oh, I don't know.
00:06:48A refusal.
00:06:50Yes.
00:06:50I want you to refuse her at the door.
00:06:53May I ask why?
00:06:56Absolutely not.
00:06:57It is none of your business.
00:07:01I'm sorry to disappoint you, Agnes.
00:07:03I've already sent the tickets and the characters to each of the participants.
00:07:07If I cancel one of them now, it would just ruin the entire game for everybody else.
00:07:12Hmm.
00:07:12This is a great start to the evening.
00:07:19I hope there's not a real murder.
00:07:21Don't even say that!
00:07:28I'm here.
00:07:29The party can't begin.
00:07:32Uh, and you are?
00:07:35Olga the Great.
00:07:37Here to save this lame party.
00:07:39Well, I wouldn't necessarily call it lame.
00:07:42It hasn't even started yet.
00:07:44An evening stuck with her.
00:07:46I'm sure it's going to be lame.
00:07:51The feeling is mutual.
00:07:54Welcome, both of you.
00:07:56I'm so glad you guys could come.
00:07:58Um, so come on in into the parlor.
00:08:01Make yourselves at home.
00:08:02Get comfortable, and I will bring out the refreshments.
00:08:05I don't know why you seem to be at every event I attend.
00:08:08If you wanted to avoid me, I would think you'd do a better job at it.
00:08:31It's kind of icy out there.
00:08:32Great.
00:08:33Do you need any help?
00:08:35Yeah, would you mind taking these out in the living room, and I'll go get the drinks?
00:08:39Yeah, no problem.
00:08:42Food always breaks the ice, right?
00:09:05Please help yourselves to a drink.
00:09:07Please help yourselves to a drink.
00:09:21Come on in.
00:09:23We're so happy to have you here.
00:09:27I was told to go by the name Murdo tonight.
00:09:30Yes, and let me introduce you to the other character names as well.
00:09:35We know your real name, Murdo.
00:09:38We're going to go by our characters' names tonight.
00:09:42It's all part of the game, so let me introduce you to Agnes, Olga, Hector, Oscar.
00:09:53Um, it's nice to meet you, Murdo.
00:09:59Can I get you something?
00:10:17You must be Matilda, our last guest, is that correct?
00:10:21Ah, yes.
00:10:22That's what the email said that my name was to be tonight.
00:10:26Oh, well wonderful.
00:10:27Come on in and have some refreshments.
00:10:28We're about to begin.
00:10:35All right, everybody take a seat, and I'll go over the rules of the game.
00:10:49Now have any of you ever played a murder mystery game before?
00:10:53Well, no worries.
00:10:54It's very easy and a lot of fun.
00:10:56Each of you received an email detailing a description of your character for tonight.
00:11:01I can already tell that you took the costume suggestions to heart.
00:11:05What does she mean costume suggestions?
00:11:12Okay, anyway, we will play this game until about 9 o'clock at night when each of you will
00:11:17have a chance to guess the murderer.
00:11:20I do have a prize for the winner, so do your very best.
00:11:23You will receive clues throughout the night that will lead you toward and in some cases
00:11:27away from the murderer.
00:11:29You need to compare the clues with what you know to be true and try to figure out what
00:11:34really happened.
00:11:35Any questions?
00:11:39Are we allowed to lie about what we know or what we saw or what we did?
00:11:44Absolutely.
00:11:45Half the fun is sending people down the wrong path.
00:11:48So remember not to believe everything that you were told.
00:11:55Does the murderer know that he or she did it?
00:11:57No.
00:11:57That's one of the best parts.
00:11:59It may have been your character, so you need to keep that in mind as you learn more.
00:12:05Are the clues true?
00:12:08Yes, all the clues are true, but they may not be the complete story.
00:12:14So what happened?
00:12:16Who died?
00:12:18Any more questions?
00:12:19Because as soon as I tell you that, the game begins.
00:12:22Do we have to figure out where and with what weapon the murder was committed?
00:12:27Not for this specific murder mystery, no, but if you like this one, I have some like
00:12:33that too.
00:12:34Okay.
00:12:35Ready?
00:12:39All of you are from the sweet little village of Banborough, and around two weeks ago, a
00:12:44man by the name of Joe Schmo came to your town.
00:12:47Just traveling through, he said, but two weeks ago exactly on July 18th at 1147 PM, Joe Schmo
00:12:55fell off the highest building in town.
00:12:58The Grand Hotel Banborough is eight stories high, and he was killed instantly.
00:13:03How do we know he didn't jump?
00:13:05There was one eyewitness that said there was someone else on the roof that night, and they
00:13:10heard arguing.
00:13:11The eyewitness also heard a surprise shout as he fell.
00:13:15We cannot be sure, but it does look like it was murder.
00:13:18What do you mean, we?
00:13:20I have called all of you together tonight because I'm a private investigator, and I have been
00:13:25hired to figure out whodunit.
00:13:28Does that mean we're all suspects?
00:13:31Yes, you are.
00:13:33Oh my.
00:13:35One moment.
00:13:35I'll be right back.
00:13:40I think we can all agree that there is only one likely suspect.
00:13:45Him.
00:13:50Now hold on, okay?
00:13:53The game just started a minute ago.
00:13:54Can we hold off on the accusations until after dinner, at least?
00:13:58Ah.
00:14:00I think we have our first alliance.
00:14:03If not allowing unfounded accusations to be lobbed around constitutes an alliance, then
00:14:08fine.
00:14:08No accusation is unfounded with that one.
00:14:12Now Agnes, I think you're being unfair.
00:14:15Do you hear someone speaking?
00:14:19I certainly can't.
00:14:21Listen.
00:14:22You don't know anything about me or my past.
00:14:26Gossip isn't facts.
00:14:35Thanks for waiting, here are the first clues.
00:14:38By selecting clues randomly, we'll add an element of variety to the game.
00:15:11So let's get started.
00:15:26Not surprised at all.
00:15:46Olga's alibi was confirmed.
00:15:48She was working until 2 a.m. at the roller rink and video footage proves she was there
00:15:54the whole time.
00:15:56I'm innocent already?
00:15:58That's boring.
00:16:13Bon Appetit!
00:16:15I am so glad that we can all be here for dinner tonight.
00:16:21Matilda!
00:16:22That's a beautiful brooch.
00:16:24I got it from a dear friend many years ago.
00:16:27I wore it today hoping to remind her that we were our friends.
00:16:35So, Olga, what do you do for work?
00:16:37I run the local roller skating rink.
00:16:39Really?
00:16:40How did you get into that?
00:16:42I applied.
00:16:46Why don't we start with each of you explaining how you knew Joe Schmo?
00:16:52Well, why don't we start with you introducing yourself to us?
00:16:55Oh, um, well, my character doesn't really have a name.
00:17:00I'm just the private investigator.
00:17:02Everyone has to have a name.
00:17:03We'll give you one.
00:17:05It should be a detective name.
00:17:07Sherlock.
00:17:09Miss Marple's my favorite.
00:17:13Yes, but she wasn't an attractive young lady.
00:17:18How about Detective Marple?
00:17:20I'm sure Miss Marple is trademarked.
00:17:23Why don't we call her Detective Warple?
00:17:29Detective Warple.
00:17:30I like it.
00:17:32Now, on to your relationship with Joe Schmo.
00:17:35I didn't know the man.
00:17:37Well, you must have had some connection or you wouldn't be a suspect.
00:17:40Well, I did.
00:17:42You murdered him?
00:17:44No.
00:17:45But I had a relationship with him in college.
00:17:48We dated for nearly two years.
00:17:49Oh.
00:17:51Were you serious?
00:17:53I was.
00:17:54He wasn't.
00:17:55I think that probably says it all.
00:17:57There's certainly more that can be said.
00:17:59Did you have a reason to murder him?
00:18:01Of course not.
00:18:03I mean, he did deserve it, so bravo to whichever of you did it, but it wasn't me.
00:18:09And we're just supposed to take your word for it?
00:18:11No way.
00:18:13What about you, Oscar?
00:18:16Joe was my cousin.
00:18:18And?
00:18:19And?
00:18:21Just my cousin.
00:18:22That's all.
00:18:25Were you close?
00:18:30Um, were we?
00:18:32If the information that you got didn't say, you can just make it up.
00:18:36No.
00:18:38He's not very good at this.
00:18:40Can we request a substitution?
00:18:45Be nice.
00:18:51And?
00:18:52What about you, Matilda?
00:18:53I thought you couldn't see me.
00:18:57I couldn't hear you, but I see a murderer when I look at you.
00:19:01I didn't know him either.
00:19:04I didn't even know his name.
00:19:06Hmm.
00:19:07And you, Hector?
00:19:10He was a business associate, that's all.
00:19:13What kind of business?
00:19:16That's none of yours.
00:19:18I think we should ask our friend Murdo here what his relationship was with late Joe Schmo.
00:19:27You've already decided I did it.
00:19:29Why should I tell you anything?
00:19:31He doesn't even try to proclaim his innocence.
00:19:34Murdo, the murderer.
00:19:36I think that says it all.
00:19:39Murdo, just tell us how you knew him.
00:19:42I grew up with him.
00:19:44We were at the same juvenile detention facility.
00:19:47Were you friends?
00:19:48No.
00:19:51We were enemies.
00:19:53That's practically a confession.
00:19:55And no more than Olga's was.
00:19:57She just said good job to the murderer.
00:20:02It could be either of them.
00:20:04Okay.
00:20:05It's time for the second course.
00:20:10I didn't even touch my soup.
00:20:20Are murder mystery dinners always like that?
00:20:23Only the best ones.
00:20:25It's a little more intense than I was expecting.
00:20:27I think that's from the little spats going on.
00:20:30Yeah, that's an interesting group, that's for sure.
00:20:32You having fun?
00:20:33You know, surprisingly, I am.
00:20:36Not as bad as you thought it'd be?
00:20:38No, I've been missing out.
00:20:41Um, I have one question though.
00:20:43Yes?
00:20:46Was it Murdo?
00:20:47I can't tell you that.
00:20:49Oh, even if I was the only one at your mystery puzzle night?
00:20:53Nice try.
00:20:54If you'd actually come to that, I'd be tempted.
00:20:56Oh, well now I know your soft spot.
00:20:58People who attend my events, absolutely.
00:21:02Oh, then it looks like I had my weekends planned out then.
00:21:08Oscar had told the police that he was visiting his parents two hours away that night, but
00:21:14he wasn't.
00:21:15Where was he?
00:21:16They don't know, but police confirmed that his parents were away on a cruise.
00:21:23They lied to the police?
00:21:26Whew.
00:21:27That looks bad.
00:21:28I know, and he seemed so innocent.
00:21:32What can you tell me?
00:21:34I know that Hector was at the hotel that night.
00:21:37Really?
00:21:37Why would he be there?
00:21:39Don't know.
00:21:41But a witness saw him enter the hotel at 11 p.m.
00:21:45When did the murder happen again?
00:21:4711.47 p.m.
00:21:49Then it could have been Hector.
00:21:54Or Oscar.
00:21:59Well, it's more than an argument, you know.
00:22:02I have information about Matilda.
00:22:06I thought you must.
00:22:07People don't normally stop being lifelong friends over something small.
00:22:12I knew it must have had something to do with the murder.
00:22:15Well, yes, but she's not to be trusted with one's cats.
00:22:19But yes, of course, it's much more than that.
00:22:23I was speaking with her neighbor, Mrs. Montgomery.
00:22:28And she said she saw Matilda leave about 9.30 and she had not returned at 11.30 when she
00:22:34went to bed.
00:22:36Okay.
00:22:37But what was she doing out so late, I ask you?
00:22:42Run to the store?
00:22:43At 11.30 at night?
00:22:45I think not.
00:22:47What do you have for me?
00:22:51I happen to know that Murdo was staying at the hotel that night.
00:22:55Really?
00:22:56That's incriminating.
00:22:59And his room was on the eighth floor.
00:23:03So, right up under the roof.
00:23:07Hmm.
00:23:08Interesting, isn't it?
00:23:09Well, I'd say it's much more than that.
00:23:22Well, no wonder you were enemies.
00:23:24That Joe Schmo was no good.
00:23:27The worst thing he did was his final prank.
00:23:30What was it?
00:23:31He hacked into the computers at the juvenile detention facility and made two little changes.
00:23:38Got himself transferred to a better location.
00:23:41And the other change?
00:23:42He lengthened my stay till my 18th birthday.
00:23:47When were you supposed to get out?
00:23:49Fifteen.
00:23:50Three extra years?
00:23:52That's horrible.
00:23:54Yeah.
00:23:55That was Joe.
00:23:56I would understand if you wanted revenge on him.
00:24:00Of course I wanted revenge on him.
00:24:02Oh, if I'd have gotten my chance at revenge, he wouldn't have gotten off so easy.
00:24:07He'd be doing life in the state penitentiary.
00:24:09I can promise you that.
00:24:11I believe you.
00:24:16Well, I don't like to point the finger at myself, so all I can say is my clue wasn't very
00:24:21good for me.
00:24:23Really?
00:24:24Interesting.
00:24:25Now you have to tell me what your clue said.
00:24:27You haven't even told me what yours said.
00:24:30Who was it about then?
00:24:33Agnes.
00:24:34Was it good for her or bad for her?
00:24:36Bad.
00:24:37Can you tell me anything else?
00:24:39Only if you do.
00:24:50You know, what if we played a game?
00:24:54What kind of game?
00:24:55A game to get to know each other better.
00:24:58Might give us some insights into who could be a murderer.
00:25:01How?
00:25:04It's called...
00:25:06Who had the motivation to kill Joe Schmoe?
00:25:09It is the follow-up game.
00:25:11Who had the opportunity?
00:25:15Intriguing.
00:25:16But no one would offer up any real information.
00:25:19Well, let's play accusation.
00:25:22I don't think that would be helpful.
00:25:25Of course it would.
00:25:26We can each say a name of who we think, as of this moment, did it.
00:25:31And this will give a better idea to everyone as to which way each of us is leaning right
00:25:37now.
00:25:38Fine.
00:25:38But it has to be anonymous.
00:25:40Otherwise, people aren't going to be truthful.
00:25:42Agreed.
00:25:43Good idea.
00:25:43I'll do it.
00:25:44Fine.
00:25:44It might be helpful.
00:25:46Great.
00:25:46Alright.
00:25:47Um, I'll go ask Cora, I mean, Detective Warpel for some paper.
00:25:51Yeah.
00:25:54Of course he will.
00:26:02Wow, this looks great, Cora.
00:26:04You're really good at this.
00:26:05Thanks.
00:26:06Um, we're getting ready to go play a game.
00:26:08Do you have any paper we can use?
00:26:09Sure.
00:26:12Here.
00:26:12Okay.
00:26:14That looks like Mary Poppins' bag.
00:26:16Do you have everything in there?
00:26:17Everything but a lamp.
00:26:20Although...
00:26:23I have to ask, what does an event planner need with a headlamp?
00:26:27At one event, a lady dropped her ring in the crack of the floor, and I had to search
00:26:32through a crawl space in order to get it.
00:26:35And let me tell you, using a cell phone light didn't actually work out well.
00:26:40Did you find the ring?
00:26:41I did.
00:26:42Oh, talk about going the extra mile.
00:26:45It was an heirloom, what was I supposed to do?
00:26:47You should have gotten an award for that.
00:26:50Anyway, um, what's the name of the game?
00:26:52Tell you what, why don't you take these for me?
00:26:54Mm-hmm.
00:26:54I'll help you bring these in, and you can see for yourself.
00:26:56Yeah.
00:27:02This is why I thought we could use a game.
00:27:04Thanks.
00:27:13Would anyone want some hot chocolate or a snack?
00:27:16And everyone grab a piece of paper, and write your top suspects on it, and fold it in quarters,
00:27:21and put it...
00:27:22Uh, just give them all to me.
00:27:24Just give them all to me.
00:27:34Push the whole table.
00:27:39There are things already out.
00:27:40That's good.
00:27:44I'm gonna be holding a powder.
00:27:45And put it in half a piece of paper.
00:27:45And put it in half a piece or two pieces of cake.
00:27:46And put it in half a piece of paper.
00:27:46And put it in half a piece.
00:27:48And put it in half a piece.
00:28:00Okay, I'm going to read the votes aloud.
00:28:02Don't let anybody see the handwriting, that'll give it away.
00:28:06Of course, understand, no looking at the handwriting.
00:28:09Let's see what we got here.
00:28:10We got one for Matilda, one for Murdo, one for Olga, one for Agnes, two for Heather.
00:28:24Hector!
00:28:25Two for me?
00:28:28Why on earth would I kill Joe Schmoe?
00:28:31That's what we need to figure out.
00:28:33You never did tell us anything besides he was a business associate of yours.
00:28:38I don't know anything more than that.
00:28:40Oh, you can't make it up?
00:28:43Can we get a substitute here?
00:28:45He's not very good at this.
00:28:47Did anyone notice there were no votes for Oscar?
00:28:50That's true.
00:28:51Sounds like you all can trust me.
00:28:52Or, the clues are trying to lead us away from the true murderer.
00:28:58Did anyone have a clue about Oscar?
00:29:02Matilda did.
00:29:03Why do you say that?
00:29:05Because you're biting your lip.
00:29:07You're trying to hide something.
00:29:09Alright, I did, but I don't have to tell you.
00:29:13It's my clue.
00:29:15Why would you want to protect him?
00:29:17Maybe he's blackmailing her.
00:29:20I think you're just trying to point the finger at anyone but you.
00:29:23What did the clue say, Mentoda?
00:29:26If you don't tell him, I will.
00:29:29It's said that his alibi had been proven false.
00:29:35Okay, I know that sounds bad, but...
00:29:37So, he lied to the police.
00:29:40Hmm.
00:29:41People don't lie to the police unless they have something to hide.
00:29:44I would have never have done that.
00:29:46We were family.
00:29:47But you weren't close.
00:29:49You said that yourself.
00:29:50Yes, you did.
00:29:52Sorry, Oscar.
00:29:55I'm sure you lied to the police for some other reason, right?
00:30:00We need to start ruling people out.
00:30:02That will narrow down who the murderer can be.
00:30:06Did anyone get a clue that proves anyone innocent?
00:30:08I doubt anyone would admit that unless it proves themselves innocent, and that's unlikely.
00:30:15I think it's time for the second set of clues.
00:30:17One moment.
00:30:18Did anyone die contact?
00:30:20No?
00:30:23No.
00:30:26No.
00:30:28No?
00:30:35No, No.
00:30:35No.
00:30:35No.
00:30:38No.
00:30:41No.
00:30:42No.
00:30:42No.
00:30:46You are.
00:30:47No.
00:30:47Ah, likewise next time.
00:30:48Yes, of course.
00:30:54But Matilda feels really bad about whatever she did wrong.
00:30:58She wants to be friends again.
00:31:01Not everything broken can be put back together again.
00:31:04Like our friendship.
00:31:06But what happened?
00:31:08What could sweet Matilda have done to end your friendship of what, how many years?
00:31:1262 years.
00:31:13I mean anything short of murder, wait a minute, what do you know?
00:31:28I know you're the one who did it.
00:31:32Then you know more than me, my good man.
00:31:44Listen, I'm willing to keep my clues to myself, if you'll make it worth my while.
00:31:59Well first, I think you should tell me about your clue.
00:32:14That you left a threatening message for Joel, and that he had to meet with you.
00:32:22Well that doesn't sound so bad.
00:32:24Here I thought you were going to tell me I was caught red handed.
00:32:34You threatened him, wanted to meet with him.
00:32:39And we're seen entering the hotel, 11pm.
00:32:48You didn't tell me that part.
00:32:51That was my first clue.
00:32:53Both your clues were about me.
00:32:56What are the odds, right?
00:33:00Unless, a lot of these clues are about you.
00:33:04Because, there are so many, since you're the murderer.
00:33:12You know, I really wish that I could tell you that I'm not.
00:33:18But, listen, I can keep these little clues to myself.
00:33:30How?
00:33:32It's called cash, Hector.
00:33:42Oh, I'm glad I found you.
00:33:44Did you need something?
00:33:45No, I just, I just have to tell you something.
00:33:48For your own good.
00:33:50Okay, what is it?
00:33:51Now, I know it's none of my business.
00:33:53But, it seems as if you and Oscar have some sparks.
00:33:58Sparks?
00:33:58I'd be blind not to notice it.
00:34:00But, you be careful with that one.
00:34:02I think he's something of a ladies man.
00:34:09She said, Oscar.
00:34:12Not Liam.
00:34:15They're taking this game way too seriously.
00:34:21Hey.
00:34:23You need anything?
00:34:25Nope.
00:34:26I found out why Matilda and Agnes are angry with each other though.
00:34:29Really?
00:34:29Why?
00:34:30Well, apparently Matilda was watching Agnes' cats while she was out of town.
00:34:34And, while she was gone, her favorite cat died.
00:34:38It was Matilda's fault?
00:34:41Hmm, Agnes thinks so.
00:34:43But, I don't think Matilda would try to kill her cat.
00:34:45What a silly thing to be angry about.
00:34:47I've been wondering what little old ladies fight about.
00:34:50And, now I know.
00:34:51Thanks for all your help trying to make everyone get along.
00:34:54Are you always a peacemaker?
00:34:56I was a divorce attorney for a while.
00:34:57So, I have a lot of practice helping people try to get along with each other.
00:35:01And, you don't do that anymore?
00:35:03No, I'm too much of a romantic for that.
00:35:05I kept hoping that the couples would reconcile.
00:35:08That's really nice.
00:35:10Yeah, my boss kept explaining that I wasn't a marriage counselor.
00:35:13So, what I'm doing now better suits me.
00:35:15What is that?
00:35:16Adoptions, mostly.
00:35:18Helping other people find their happily ever after.
00:35:21I can see you doing that.
00:35:22And, it justifies working too much.
00:35:25Because you're doing good things for other people?
00:35:27Exactly.
00:35:28But, you deserve a happily ever after too.
00:35:33Agreed.
00:35:34And, I'm going to take more time trying to pursue that.
00:35:38I need to get back to everybody.
00:36:00Cold?
00:36:00A tad.
00:36:02This is the nicest spot in the house.
00:36:05Agreed.
00:36:06Did you get a good clue this time?
00:36:08I'm not sure what to make of mine.
00:36:11What about yours?
00:36:13It was interesting.
00:36:14It was talking about the river, but I've only heard about the hotel up till now.
00:36:20The river?
00:36:21Mine was too.
00:36:23It said that Joe Schmoe's wallet was found at the river.
00:36:29Really?
00:36:30That means he must have been at the river at some point that night.
00:36:34Exactly.
00:36:35What was your clue about the river?
00:36:37It said that Agnes was at the river that night too.
00:36:42Oh.
00:36:43Everyone good in here?
00:36:45Good.
00:36:46Matilda?
00:36:47Yes, dear?
00:36:48Where's your brooch?
00:36:49Oh.
00:36:51Oh.
00:36:51I don't know.
00:36:55It's gotta be close by.
00:36:56We will find it.
00:37:04Do you think someone stole it?
00:37:06Surely not.
00:37:08Will you have everyone else come in here please?
00:37:12Do you know where it could have gone?
00:37:14I don't know.
00:37:16I, uh, uh, just let me think.
00:37:26What happened?
00:37:28Is Matilda okay?
00:37:30Olga wouldn't tell us anything.
00:37:32It's her brooch.
00:37:33It's gone.
00:37:34Have any of you seen it?
00:37:36When was the last time someone saw it?
00:37:38I saw it on her sweater when we were sitting here during Oscar's game.
00:37:42That's right.
00:37:43I hung the sweater behind me on the chair.
00:37:47It was warmer then.
00:37:48We all walked away to vote and then read our clues.
00:37:53Anyone could have taken it.
00:37:55Taken it?
00:37:56You think it was stolen?
00:37:58No, I'm sure no one has stolen it, right?
00:38:01Let's just look for it, okay?
00:38:02Everyone split up and look around.
00:38:06Not to be contrary, but wouldn't that give the thief an opportunity to find a better hiding place for the
00:38:12brooch?
00:38:13It's lost, not stolen.
00:38:17Just in case.
00:38:18It makes sense to have us all search in pairs.
00:38:21We're an odd number.
00:38:23Who should be the one without a pair?
00:38:25Matilda!
00:38:25She has no reason to steal her own brooch.
00:38:29Good call.
00:38:29Okay, fine.
00:38:31Pick partners and search the house.
00:38:33We have to find that brooch.
00:38:35You want to search together?
00:38:40We'd make the best search pair.
00:38:42Sound good?
00:38:42Sounds good.
00:38:44It looks like it's you and me.
00:38:46Okay, Matilda.
00:38:47Why don't you keep looking here?
00:38:49I will, dear.
00:39:08We'll see you next time.
00:39:08We'll see you next time.
00:39:09Bye.
00:39:37Bye.
00:40:04Bye.
00:40:04This is a waste of time.
00:40:08Do you really think it was stolen?
00:40:11You've got a bunch of people gathered together who think it's fun to pretend someone was murdered.
00:40:15And you think they wouldn't stoop to a theft?
00:40:19Well, I'm here.
00:40:20And I didn't steal anything.
00:40:22Yeah, but you're not here for the murder mystery.
00:40:27Is it really that obvious?
00:40:29But still, I mean, who would steal from a sweet little old lady like Matilda?
00:40:33Did you see the diamonds on that thing?
00:40:36Anyone willing to steal doesn't care who it's from.
00:40:44Oh, sorry.
00:40:50You got it?
00:40:52Good.
00:40:53Okay, we need to get that out of his body cavity.
00:40:56That's the most important thing.
00:40:58That doesn't matter.
00:41:00We need it.
00:41:02That doesn't matter.
00:41:03We need it.
00:41:31I think it was Agnes.
00:41:33Why Agnes?
00:41:34She's upset with Matilda and wanting her gift back.
00:41:37Simple.
00:41:38I just can't imagine anyone here trying to steal from someone.
00:41:42So, we might be murderers, but not thieves?
00:41:45Well, a fake murder is entirely different than a real theft.
00:41:51We will find it.
00:41:57Hello?
00:42:00How's the event going?
00:42:03Actually, the game's paused right now.
00:42:06Um, something happened.
00:42:08Did someone get hurt?
00:42:10No, nothing like that.
00:42:12One of the ladies lost her fancy and probably expensive broach.
00:42:17What is it with you and jewelry getting lost?
00:42:21Or stolen.
00:42:24Stolen?
00:42:25I knew these mystery murder dinners was a bad idea.
00:42:28What kind of people think it's fun to sit around and accuse each other of murder?
00:42:33I don't think it was stolen.
00:42:35It doesn't matter, Cora.
00:42:38You know where the business is at.
00:42:40We need this.
00:42:41We won't make it to New Year's unless we can turn it around.
00:42:45And one bad review?
00:42:46Well, that'll shut us down before then.
00:42:48You have to fix this immediately.
00:42:54No pressure.
00:43:12Who do you think did it?
00:43:14It could be anyone.
00:43:15Well, it isn't my style.
00:43:16I hate horses.
00:43:17They're smelly and mean.
00:43:20Hey, weren't you some sort of rodeo queen when you were little?
00:43:23I was the Otsego County Junior Rodeo Princess when I was seven years old.
00:43:28Then my horrible horse threw me when I was nine.
00:43:31I haven't been on one since.
00:43:32Hmm.
00:43:33I can't believe we're spending our precious murder mystery time looking for this brooch.
00:43:38That's true.
00:43:39I paid for my ticket and hers too.
00:43:42I should have a say in how we spend this evening.
00:43:45You're right.
00:43:46Fine.
00:43:47Search is over.
00:43:48It's not here anyway.
00:43:59Cora?
00:44:02I mean, Detective Warpa?
00:44:07Agnes, is everything alright?
00:44:17Matilda.
00:44:20What were you doing upstairs?
00:44:22Oh, I was just checking my room to make sure that it didn't fall off in there.
00:44:31And?
00:44:32It didn't.
00:44:42What did you need, Agnes? Did you find the brooch?
00:44:44No.
00:44:46And I won't spend another moment looking for it.
00:44:48I paid for not one, but two tickets to this event and I plan on continuing.
00:44:58I think the bigger mystery here is where Matilda's brooch went.
00:45:03It's a real mystery.
00:45:04Doesn't that interest you, Agnes?
00:45:06If I didn't already know who did it, it would.
00:45:09Who?
00:45:10It's obvious.
00:45:12Him.
00:45:14If I were going to take something, it wouldn't be a brooch.
00:45:18I can promise you that.
00:45:21But you did tell me that you noticed how many diamonds were in that brooch.
00:45:25Yeah.
00:45:27Everyone noticed.
00:45:28Didn't you?
00:45:45Even if you won't admit it.
00:45:49What do you think?
00:45:50Should we keep playing or find the brooch?
00:45:55How about another game?
00:45:57My last game was a good idea, right?
00:46:01Okay.
00:46:03So, we need to get back in the swing of the murder mystery while still keeping an eye out for
00:46:07that brooch.
00:46:08So, how about each of us in character tell our most embarrassing moment?
00:46:13Our characters?
00:46:15Yeah.
00:46:16Just make up.
00:46:17Try to remember.
00:46:19That's right.
00:46:21Each of us, in character, tell that story.
00:46:25It would be a good exercise in character development.
00:46:28And improv both.
00:46:30That's what actors do, right?
00:46:33We wouldn't know anything about that now, would we?
00:46:36No.
00:46:39So...
00:46:39Who's first?
00:46:41Who's first?
00:46:47I have one.
00:46:58Well, before I was a private investigator, I was a cop.
00:47:05All right.
00:47:06Hector, you're the last one.
00:47:12I don't understand why we get enjoyment out of humiliating ourselves, but okay.
00:47:18It makes people more relatable.
00:47:22Something you need to work on, Hector.
00:47:25Fine.
00:47:28For your own enjoyment, at my own expense, my most embarrassing moment had to do with Joe Schmo, actually.
00:47:40I, as you know, am a businessman.
00:47:43And Joe is a competitor.
00:47:45My business is baby food.
00:47:49Joe's was actually two for a little while.
00:47:53Baby food.
00:47:54That's a twist.
00:47:55We were at a conference, and I was demonstrating this brand-new container that I invented, where a baby could
00:48:05feed itself without making a mess.
00:48:08And then?
00:48:09Joe was a hateful man.
00:48:11True.
00:48:13He just wanted to make a fool out of me.
00:48:16So he pierced the container that I invented with a screwdriver knife.
00:48:23So when I was demonstrating in front of the audience, the container leaked.
00:48:28And it went all over my brand-new suit.
00:48:33The audience was practically rolling on the ground laughing by the time I realized.
00:48:38And on top of the humiliation, my sails tanked, too.
00:48:42Sounds like Joe.
00:48:50You all did an amazing job coming up with stories for your characters.
00:48:55You all are very creative.
00:48:59Yeah, good improv everybody.
00:49:01I don't know, we should be actors or something.
00:49:03No thanks.
00:49:05I like standing in front of people less than ever after that whole fiasco.
00:49:33Needed a break?
00:49:37Yeah.
00:49:39You okay?
00:49:42Just feeling sorry for myself.
00:49:46Why? Everyone's enjoying themselves now.
00:49:49One single funny moment doesn't make it a great event.
00:49:53I need a great event.
00:49:56Instead, we have feuding guests, a stolen brooch, a disaster of a murder mystery.
00:50:03It's a colossal failure.
00:50:06Why did you do this?
00:50:10What do you mean?
00:50:12What were you hoping for from this murder mystery event?
00:50:15A new venue to make more money.
00:50:18Weddings are too seasonal.
00:50:20Okay, but why do you spend your time planning events at all?
00:50:25I want to bring people together.
00:50:28I want to help them create memories and connections that would last a lifetime.
00:50:33Events like this can do that.
00:50:36Usually.
00:50:38I think everyone's having more fun than you realize.
00:50:41What do you mean?
00:50:43I mean, besides the brooch, people are in there having fun.
00:50:48They're accusing each other.
00:50:49They're trying to figure out who done it.
00:50:52I don't think it's as big a failure as you think.
00:50:55One of my guests is a victim of theft.
00:50:59Maybe.
00:51:00My dad, who also happens to be my boss, took a big risk to let me do this.
00:51:07Last week's event was an absolute failure, obviously.
00:51:12And this week's event, I don't know.
00:51:15I just...
00:51:17I need a slam dunk.
00:51:19You know?
00:51:22So is your dad upset with you?
00:51:25He's distressed.
00:51:27Event planning is not his thing.
00:51:30My mom started the business, and when she got sick, he quit his job just to keep the business going.
00:51:36And then when she passed, it was all he had left of her.
00:51:41So do you feel that way, too?
00:51:43It's a connection to your mom?
00:51:45Probably.
00:51:46I really like event planning, too.
00:51:49But I want to make enough money so he can head towards the retirement that he deserves, you know?
00:51:55If there's anyone that can do that, it's you.
00:51:59You really think so?
00:52:02Yeah, I really do.
00:52:10That's my dad. I need to take this.
00:52:18Hi, Dad.
00:52:19Did you find it?
00:52:21The brooch?
00:52:22Yes, obviously.
00:52:25Not yet, but she is still having fun. This hasn't ruined her evening, I promise.
00:52:31We need rave reviews, Cora. Nothing less.
00:52:36I know.
00:52:49What's going on?
00:52:51Matilda locked herself in the library.
00:52:53She won't come out.
00:52:55We're concerned.
00:52:57Matilda!
00:52:58Is that you, Cora?
00:53:00Yes. What's wrong?
00:53:03May I come in?
00:53:09What's wrong?
00:53:10Oh, I'm just being silly.
00:53:15Of course not. Is it about the brooch?
00:53:18It's more. It's more the symbolism of the brooch.
00:53:22What do you mean?
00:53:23I was just thinking about how the brooch was given to me by Agnes all those years ago because we
00:53:30were best friends.
00:53:31And now, now with the brooch gone, it feels like there's no hope for our friendship either.
00:53:40Oh, Matilda.
00:53:45When Harold died, I knew I wasn't alone because Agnes would always be there for me. But now, now I
00:53:53really am alone.
00:53:54Not anymore. All of us care about you. Those people have been banging on the door because they care.
00:54:02Oh, that's nice.
00:54:09Help! Someone help!
00:54:13Are you okay? Did you get hurt?
00:54:16What happened?
00:54:21My rings are missing!
00:54:23Another theft!
00:54:26This is getting out of hand.
00:54:27No, it can't be!
00:54:29Sorry, Detective Orple, but two different pieces of jewelry missing seems to confirm this is not an accident.
00:54:36Could there be somebody else in the house?
00:54:38We would have seen someone.
00:54:39That's true.
00:54:41It leaves seven suspects.
00:54:45More like five. I don't think that Matilda or Agnes would steal their own jewelry.
00:54:50They could have stolen each other's.
00:54:54Really, Murdo? Not everyone is so conniving.
00:54:58Fine. Five suspects.
00:55:29It really would be best if the culprit would just tell us who they are.
00:55:35It's not too late to confess, return the stolen items,
00:55:38and move on.
00:55:41And confess to the murder while they're at it.
00:55:47Matilda and Agnes could have committed the murder. Let's not forget that.
00:55:52And the thefts. I don't know why y'all think they're innocent of that.
00:55:56Can we just focus on the real crime here? We can get back to the murder later.
00:56:02Strange man who thinks that theft is more of a real crime than murder.
00:56:10Let's just focus on the rings and the brooch, please. Who could have done it?
00:56:18Look, now that two items have been stolen, that should narrow down who had the opportunity to do it.
00:56:24True. When Agnes screamed, Murdo and I were playing billiards over in the other room.
00:56:30And I was beating him pretty soundly.
00:56:33And Cora and Matilda were in the library.
00:56:36Where were you at, Olga?
00:56:37I was taking a walk around the yard.
00:56:40By yourself?
00:56:42Yes, but that doesn't mean anything.
00:56:44What about you, Liam?
00:56:47Unfortunately, I never dreamed that a second item would have been stolen.
00:56:50I don't have an alibi for that exact moment.
00:56:53I went to my room, I made a phone call.
00:56:56That's all.
00:56:57It doesn't matter. Those rings could have been stolen at any time. That's just when they were noticed.
00:57:04Yeah, good point.
00:57:07Could one of you please just confess? I'm not angry.
00:57:11We could just write this off as adding to the atmosphere of the mystery.
00:57:15But please, we need to get to the bottom of this now.
00:57:18How? How do we know you didn't steal them?
00:57:21Me?
00:57:21Whoa, look. Cora has no motive to steal them.
00:57:25Okay, this affects her as negatively as it does Matilda and Agnes.
00:57:28We don't actually know that now, do we?
00:57:32I mean, what if she planned this whole event so she could steal from us and then blame us?
00:57:38He's got a point.
00:57:40You expect me to believe that Cora is a con woman?
00:57:47No, no way.
00:57:50Look, if none of us stole the rings or the brooch, that means...
00:57:55They probably stole each other's stuff. They were feuding, right?
00:58:00I can imagine Agnes doing that, but Matilda...
00:58:05Maybe we should call the girls in.
00:58:10I'll get them.
00:58:23Agnes, Matilda, we're all very concerned about your missing items.
00:58:28Have you had any luck finding them yet?
00:58:32When exactly was the last time you saw your rings, Agnes?
00:58:36That would be pretty hard to know exactly.
00:58:39I saw you wearing them when you shared your most embarrassing story.
00:58:44I remember because the rings reflected the light when you said dazzle.
00:58:50That's right. And after that, I, um, got myself some tea and I wanted to sit and rest for a
00:58:56while.
00:58:57So we talked for a while in the living room. I can't remember if I noticed your rings or not.
00:59:03And then we started looking for Matilda.
00:59:05It's important to keep tabs on everyone while a murderer is on the loose.
00:59:11And when we were trying to get Matilda out of the library, I don't remember you wearing your rings then.
00:59:18I can't be sure, but I don't think you had them on then.
00:59:28Let's search the living room then.
00:59:29Let's search the living room like tonight...
00:59:35Let's search the living room.
00:59:44I can't beитель.
00:59:46Now we're spinning.
00:59:46We're descending.
00:59:46Let's go to the living room.
00:59:47I saw volcanoes
00:59:47That granule is on the descending line to watch the living room.
00:59:48Equal horror.
00:59:59Dependrenting of the sitting room yet to sit.
00:59:59Tummos While bana is on the green room with painted feet.
01:00:17I feel like all I've done is search couch cushions tonight.
01:00:48I've been noticing something strange.
01:00:50What?
01:00:50Do you know who's stealing?
01:00:52No, it's something different.
01:00:54I'm talking about how the others can't seem to differentiate between the actual theft
01:00:58and the pretend murder.
01:01:01Do they all do that?
01:01:03I'm not sure.
01:01:05I've noticed it several times.
01:01:07Is that normal?
01:01:09Well, I've never had real crimes committed at a fake murder mystery before, but I doubt
01:01:13it.
01:01:14It's really, really weird, but I'm having a blast.
01:01:22Really?
01:01:22Because I was accused of conning everyone and stealing from them.
01:01:26And no one would think that about you in real life.
01:01:29And that's what makes this fun.
01:01:33We were supposed to finish the murder mystery by 9 o'clock.
01:01:36It's already after 9.30.
01:01:38Oh my, that's getting late.
01:01:41Yes, and I haven't even set out the third set of clues yet.
01:01:45No wonder I'm so weary.
01:01:48Unfortunately, with the missing brooch and then the missing rings, I'm afraid we got off
01:01:53track.
01:01:54Oh dear, I feel terrible.
01:01:56Oh Matilda, it's certainly not your fault, but we need to make a decision if we are to
01:02:02go on with the murder mystery or call it a night.
01:02:04Well, how much longer would you expect us to stay up?
01:02:08Well, probably another hour.
01:02:09Just so it gives you guys the chance to play with the clues and be in a good position to
01:02:14make a guess.
01:02:15That would be 10.30.
01:02:17Yes.
01:02:18I know it's been an emotional night for the both of you.
01:02:21Are you up for it?
01:02:23We're the old party poopers, I'm afraid.
01:02:26I think you all could go on and finish without me, couldn't you?
01:02:30That's not really how this works.
01:02:32We need to have everyone or we should call it a night.
01:02:36Ladies, we'd rather you not push past your limits.
01:02:39If you're too tired, we can stop.
01:02:42It's fine.
01:02:43Well, I hate to be the cause of everyone's disappointment.
01:02:47Well, I don't mind.
01:02:48I'm exhausted.
01:02:51And, is that my fault that we didn't get a chance to finish?
01:02:54I'm sorry everyone.
01:02:57It's okay, Matilda.
01:03:00Okay, I hope you guys enjoyed the part of the game that we did play.
01:03:04I need to go make a phone call, I'll be back in a few minutes.
01:03:27What's the verdict, Cora?
01:03:29We didn't get a chance to finish the mystery.
01:03:34Did you find the missing jewelry?
01:03:37No, and the other older lady's rings are missing now, too.
01:03:44Two items are missing?
01:03:47That's completely unacceptable, Cora.
01:03:50I know.
01:03:54Listen, it's late.
01:03:56I'm not going to shutter the business in the middle of an event.
01:04:01We still have till tomorrow morning.
01:04:04It could still turn out okay.
01:04:06I'm not seeing how that's remotely possible, but you are ever the optimist.
01:04:13I'll do my very best, Dad.
01:04:25I need your help.
01:04:28Can you fix this?
01:04:29I need your help.
01:04:57Agnes, I found them.
01:05:04Agnes, your rings!
01:05:05Look!
01:05:06I found them!
01:05:07Where'd you find them?
01:05:08Beside the sink in the bathroom.
01:05:10We didn't think to look there!
01:05:12I forgot!
01:05:13I took them off to motion my hands!
01:05:15Oh, and you have your Edward's rings back!
01:05:17I'm so glad!
01:05:20What happened?
01:05:21I heard shouting.
01:05:23Olga found Agnes' rings.
01:05:25What a relief.
01:05:41Good news!
01:05:42We just found the rings.
01:05:47Great.
01:05:47Now go find that brooch.
01:06:00Hey, what is everyone talking about?
01:06:03That I found out I was innocent with the very first clue!
01:06:09She wrote down her own name for that vote.
01:06:13What are the odds you get your own clue?
01:06:14She thought it would be boring, so I spent the rest of the time planning clues against myself!
01:06:23Yeah, that sounds like Olga.
01:06:30I'm so glad you guys had fun tonight.
01:06:32I'm sorry we couldn't finish the murder mystery.
01:06:35It's my fault.
01:06:36I couldn't stay awake much longer.
01:06:38Me neither.
01:06:39Well, I was sort of pushing it with making us stay up as late as we did.
01:06:43Pushing it is the right word.
01:06:46Good night, everyone.
01:06:48See you at breakfast in the morning.
01:06:58I'm glad I'm not sharing a room with them.
01:07:01Me too.
01:07:03I guess I'm gonna go ahead and head up too.
01:07:09What do you do, Liam?
01:07:11Does anyone want me tea or coffee?
01:07:12Tea sounds wonderful.
01:07:14Thank you, Cora.
01:07:17I'll take decaf if you have it, Cora.
01:07:21Murdo?
01:07:22Decaf.
01:07:23Sounds good.
01:07:23Thanks.
01:07:25I'm a lawyer, actually.
01:07:28Good person to know, though.
01:07:42I'm doing shi-mum, bops, parence.
01:07:45Good person.
01:07:46I'm gonna do it and make some frees.
01:07:46Not very close.
01:07:47It's not good.
01:07:47But you're not doing a long time.
01:07:47I can stay away and drive up as soon as your best friend.
01:07:48I won't get some time if I want to stay.
01:07:48You're not going to be nervous.
01:07:49You're not going to sleep better than that.
01:07:51You're not going to sleep.
01:07:51I will not go.
01:07:51I'm going to sleep in a while.
01:07:52You're not going to sleep.
01:07:52I'll not go.
01:07:52I'll go.
01:07:53It's fine.
01:07:59You'll never touch the smell of it.
01:08:08Checkmate, my friend.
01:08:11Good game.
01:08:15Well, thanks for the great night, Cora.
01:08:17I really enjoyed it.
01:08:18People seemed a little friendlier with you as the evening passed.
01:08:22I guess people can get used to anything.
01:08:25Thanks for that, and good night.
01:08:37Oh, right.
01:08:39Yes, good night.
01:08:42I'm headed to bed, too.
01:08:51You did it!
01:08:53We still haven't found Matilda's brooch.
01:08:56We still haven't finished the mystery.
01:08:59I still think it was a success.
01:09:03So, are you ready for bed?
01:09:11Do you want me to wait on you?
01:09:13No, that's okay.
01:09:17Good night, Liam.
01:09:19Good night, Cora.
01:09:22Good night.
01:09:28Good night.
01:09:32Good night.
01:09:57Good night, I love you.
01:10:21Good night, I love you.
01:10:52Good night, I love you.
01:11:12Good night, I love you.
01:11:15Matilda, is everything okay?
01:11:17May I come in for a moment?
01:11:20Of course, what's wrong?
01:11:24I couldn't sleep.
01:11:26I need to talk to you about something.
01:11:28Anything, what is it?
01:11:30Well, I couldn't help but notice that Oscar, Liam, seems interested in becoming your young man, but, well, I just
01:11:40don't know that he's the sort of man you should be interested in, if you get my meaning.
01:11:47I don't get your meaning. Liam seems like a really nice guy.
01:11:52I know he seems that way this weekend, but I fear that that isn't really the case in real life.
01:12:02I see. Well, I know this is none of my business and I wasn't going to say anything, but I
01:12:09kept thinking it would be my fault if he broke your heart.
01:12:13So, I had to come talk with you.
01:12:18Well, good night, my dear.
01:12:21Good night.
01:12:45Good morning.
01:12:47Good morning. Did you sleep well?
01:12:49You mean after checking all my valuables and locking my door? Yeah.
01:12:54Thanks for the reminder.
01:12:57Good morning.
01:13:00I've never seen you two get along. Ever.
01:13:04Is everything okay?
01:13:07We have a confession.
01:13:09Okay.
01:13:10We've been pretending.
01:13:12Pretending?
01:13:13To be angry with each other.
01:13:16Why would you do that?
01:13:18Just to add a little more fun to the murder mystery.
01:13:21Okay.
01:13:23There's more.
01:13:25What do you mean?
01:13:29Oh, good.
01:13:30You found it.
01:13:31Where did you find it?
01:13:34It was never really stolen, was it?
01:13:37No, but wasn't it fun to think it was?
01:13:39I don't think fun is how I would describe it.
01:13:43But, Matilda was sad because she had to be nice.
01:13:46They all said that no one would believe it if I was the grumpy one.
01:13:51So, Agnes got to be grumpy and I had to be nice.
01:13:55But, but I can play a grumpy person too, you know.
01:14:00What do you mean, they all?
01:14:02The rest of our acting group.
01:14:05Acting group?
01:14:06We do plays together at the local theater.
01:14:08And when I heard about your murder mystery dinner, I thought it would be so fun for all of us
01:14:13to come together and pretend that we were the characters.
01:14:17It was fun.
01:14:19And I even got to do a crying scene.
01:14:24We're telling her now.
01:14:27Let me guess.
01:14:28You guys were only pretending that you couldn't stand each other.
01:14:32I hope so.
01:14:35We've been married ten years.
01:14:38I hope you don't mind that we were playing a part.
01:14:42Oh, oh, no.
01:14:43Of course not.
01:14:48Let me guess.
01:14:50You were in on it too?
01:14:52Yeah.
01:14:53Thanks for the great night.
01:14:54But I gotta run.
01:14:55I'm on call.
01:15:00And he is a real doctor.
01:15:05Liam, were you in on this acting group as well?
01:15:08No, no.
01:15:09My mind is still reeling from all of this.
01:15:12You don't feel like we were lying to you, right?
01:15:16Um, well, um, no.
01:15:18Of course not.
01:15:19It was all meant to be fun, right?
01:15:22And we had a lot of fun.
01:15:24Can we have breakfast now?
01:15:26I'm starved.
01:15:28Yes, of course.
01:15:29Help yourselves.
01:15:34I see you have your brooch back.
01:15:36I figured it was part of the act.
01:15:40That was really brilliant, Lois.
01:15:41I actually thought it was stolen.
01:15:44I thought I pulled it off pretty well.
01:16:06Can you believe that?
01:16:08I'm feeling kind of foolish.
01:16:10I didn't realize it myself.
01:16:11You know, I saw some signs, but I didn't recognize them.
01:16:16What signs?
01:16:17Well, I heard Olga saying goodnight to someone and she kissed him, and I figured it had to
01:16:21be Hector, Murdo, or you, but none of that makes any sense.
01:16:27Now that you mention it, I overheard a phone conversation of Murdo's, and now that I know
01:16:33that he's a doctor, it makes a lot more sense.
01:16:36I can't believe I was overreacting about a brooch being stolen last night.
01:16:41I'm sorry about all that.
01:16:44Cora, don't apologize.
01:16:45You were worried about your business.
01:16:46I get it.
01:16:47I want to thank you, Liam, for being so great this weekend.
01:16:51You really helped make the murder mystery a success, which I hope it was.
01:16:55It was.
01:16:56You encouraged me when I needed to be encouraged.
01:16:58You played referee and peacemaker.
01:17:01You were welcoming when everyone was being mean to Murdo at the beginning.
01:17:06Or pretending to be mean.
01:17:09This has been a crazy event, hasn't it?
01:17:12Are they all like this?
01:17:14Absolutely not.
01:17:15I wouldn't be able to handle it if they were.
01:17:20Cora, I...
01:17:21Cora, we're heading out!
01:17:23I need to say goodbye to everyone.
01:17:35Thank you guys again for coming.
01:17:38Oh, we had a lovely time.
01:17:40Thank you, Cora.
01:17:41Don't worry.
01:17:42We'll leave you a great review.
01:17:43And we'll tell all of our friends about your events.
01:17:47I appreciate it.
01:17:50Bye.
01:17:55Oh!
01:17:57I almost forgot.
01:17:59There's that.
01:18:00Oh, my goodness.
01:18:02Sweetie.
01:18:19Cora, dear.
01:18:21We're leaving.
01:18:27I can't believe you two fooled me.
01:18:30I'm usually good at spotting things like that.
01:18:32Well, we're pretty good actors, you know.
01:18:34You obviously are.
01:18:36Actors, con artists, I'm not sure which.
01:18:41Oh, Matilda.
01:18:43So, what you were saying earlier about Liam being a ladies' man,
01:18:51that was just all part of the game, right?
01:18:56No, unfortunately, it wasn't.
01:18:59I don't like to gossip, but I hate to see a young woman's affections toyed with, too.
01:19:06Well, I don't mind gossiping.
01:19:08I saw him myself the last two weekends on a date with two different women.
01:19:13That may just mean he's using a dating app.
01:19:16Only if he's really friendly with every woman he goes on a date with.
01:19:20We saw him hold the hands of both of these women and then gave them a very friendly hug at
01:19:26the end.
01:19:27And they kissed his cheek.
01:19:30His cheek, see?
01:19:31He can't control what they do.
01:19:33It might very well have been innocent, but be careful.
01:19:39From what we saw, he was very familiar with these ladies.
01:19:44More than you would be with someone you just met on an app and then making eyes at you this
01:19:50weekend.
01:19:51Shame on him.
01:19:52Just be careful, my dear.
01:19:54A heart is very easily broken.
01:19:59And remember next weekend, okay?
01:20:02I'll be there.
01:20:03Thank you guys again for coming.
01:20:05Oh, thank you for the fun and games.
01:20:21It was a hit.
01:20:22I'm going to refrain from saying I told you so.
01:20:24Wow, what a gentleman.
01:20:26Always.
01:20:28I'm going to miss this crazy group, actually.
01:20:30I know.
01:20:31It seems like you were becoming good friends with Hector and Murdo.
01:20:34They're characters, at least.
01:20:36Who knows what they're actually like.
01:20:38Maybe I should join their acting group.
01:20:40Maybe we both should.
01:20:42Liam.
01:20:44There's something I wanted to ask you.
01:20:47Are you free tomorrow evening?
01:20:49I thought maybe you and I can, like, you know, grab dinner.
01:20:52Are you sure you're not busy with other plans or too busy with work?
01:20:59Nope, I'm actually cutting back on work.
01:21:02I'd like to spend more time with you.
01:21:03You know, um, I don't think so.
01:21:08You know what people say about relationships when they start off in stressful situations.
01:21:14And I would consider a fake murder and a real, then fake thievery stressful.
01:21:22Okay.
01:21:23I understand.
01:21:27Thank you for a fun event.
01:21:47Here, Cara, let me get that.
01:21:49What are you doing here?
01:21:50Cara, you're supposed to be at the church.
01:21:52The wedding starts in two hours.
01:21:53I know, but I need to talk to you for a minute.
01:21:55What do you need?
01:21:56I just, I just want you to know that we don't need to continue this business.
01:22:00Your mom would understand if we tried something else.
01:22:03I love event planning, Dad.
01:22:06I know that you don't.
01:22:07Weddings are the bane of my existence, but other than that, it's not so bad.
01:22:12Maybe I should try one of these murder mysteries.
01:22:14Oh, that's what I wanted to tell you.
01:22:16It all turned out great.
01:22:17The thefts were just added in to add to the mystery.
01:22:20What?
01:22:21These murder mystery people are crazy.
01:22:23They had a blast, I promise.
01:22:26I didn't ruin our business after all.
01:22:28Listen, Cora, you are what's holding this crazy business together.
01:22:31I can promise you that.
01:22:37Listen, why don't you take the rest of the day off and go fishing?
01:22:40I can cover the rest of the wedding.
01:22:42You just worked all last night.
01:22:43You don't need to do that.
01:22:44Just promise me a fried fish dinner and we'll call it even.
01:22:49Well, I will take you up on that.
01:22:52Thanks, honey.
01:23:05I didn't know if I'd see you here today.
01:23:07Well, I had to see the mystery through.
01:23:10Yeah, I heard Agnes made some changes to it.
01:23:13What?
01:23:14Well, I ran into Murdo and he said that she insisted that you play,
01:23:18but you couldn't if you knew the ending, so...
01:23:20I played last time and I just thought I knew what was going on.
01:23:28Cora, I don't know what happened, but I thought you and I really connected that night.
01:23:32So did I.
01:23:33Well, then, why...
01:23:35I was warned about you.
01:23:37By our fellow murder mystery partners?
01:23:40They didn't know me before that night.
01:23:42Well, you're new to a small town and they noticed that you went on multiple dates with multiple women.
01:23:50What dates?
01:23:51They saw you one weekend with one woman and then they saw you with another woman the next weekend
01:23:58and they said that you seemed very familiar with them.
01:24:03Oh, I know.
01:24:06My sisters each came to visit me on different weekends before the murder mystery night.
01:24:11I'm the youngest and so they are ridiculously protective of me.
01:24:14So when they found out I've been living here for three months and had little to no interaction with anybody
01:24:19outside of work,
01:24:21they just got worried and came to check on me in person.
01:24:28They should have told you that I had overbearing sisters.
01:24:30See, that would have been a good reason to turn me down.
01:24:34I feel like an idiot.
01:24:36You are anything but.
01:24:39I should have asked you then what the change was.
01:24:43I should have asked you directly about the mysterious women.
01:24:46From now on, the only mysteries between us are going to be your murder mystery events, Detective Warple.
01:24:52Whatever you say, Oscar Marble Maw.
01:24:57Marble Maw?
01:24:59Your character needed a last name.
01:25:02And you chose Marble Maw.
01:25:03Like you couldn't have chosen Bond or Born or...
01:25:08Nice.
01:25:20By the way, in my version, it was you.
01:25:23Me what?
01:25:24You did it.
01:25:26I was the murderer?
01:25:27Money was your motive.
01:25:28You were on top of the building.
01:25:30You had the opportunity.
01:25:32I thought for sure it would have been Hector.
01:25:35Well then, I guess why don't we go inside and find out who Agnes changed it to.
01:25:39They didn't know the real ending.
01:25:40It's probably still you.
01:25:41There's no way she would have chose me.
01:25:56Yeah.
01:25:58Hey.
01:25:59Hey.
01:26:00Hey.
01:26:03Hey.
