00:04tonight on the curse of oak island oh wow check that out that's a great find that could be really
00:11really old this was used to build a wooden vault or some sort of structure down below for safe
00:16keeping after researching the xenomap i came across three churches on the west coast of france
00:21these detractors are pointing towards oak island you've got something big on your hands it's
00:26absolutely intentional it matches slot five in the money bill they were trying to conceal it which
00:30makes it even more spectacular there is an island in the north atlantic where people have been looking
00:40for an incredible treasure for more than 200 years so far they have found a stone slab with strange
00:49symbols carved into it man-made workings that date to medieval times and a lead cross whose origin may
00:57be connected to the knight's templar to date six men have died trying to solve the mystery and according
01:07to legend one more will have to die before the treasure can be found
01:24do you know what time it is treasure time a new day on oak island begins with great excitement
01:33for rick marty and their team as they are digging to historic depths in the money pit area right at
01:41the bottom of karma we're in the solution channel that's where the treasure's gonna be look we've got
01:48as good a chance as any to find it today and i hope it's going to be right over there
01:52one day ago
01:56after excavating the seven foot diameter shaft known as karma one 212 feet deep to the bottom of the
02:04solution channel the team lifted the steel caissons to allow loose soils and debris to settle overnight
02:11into a pile below they are now about to retrieve those materials with a dig bucket and search them for
02:19evidence of a large source of silver which has been detected through water and soil testing in this
02:25area it is their hope that the silver is connected to the 14th century portuguese coin reportedly
02:33retrieved from the money pit by foreman james pitt blado in 1849. look let the sluice loose
02:44let's go take a look all kinds of man-made things are in that solution channel we've proven it we've
02:51brought them up so i'm very hopeful that we're going to find some evidence of the treasure that we
02:57think fell into that collapsed area oh no it's really can get it all in the truck get it down
03:03the
03:03wash plant see what's in here okay as rick gary and terry wait to search more spoils in the money
03:11pit
03:11area some 500 feet to the east near smith's cove it's pretty muddy yeah a little bit charles barkhouse
03:20and other members of the team are at the wash plant searching by hand through spoils that were
03:27previously removed from the karma one shaft and may contain important evidence or valuables not found
03:34by gary's metal detector this process has already produced fines such as a small hand forged iron
03:41chain it's a type of chain gary has previously found while metal detecting in europe and he believes
03:48could have been used to lock a box or a chest
03:55oh wow check that out look right there looks like a rose head spike to me and it's hand wrought
04:04to fasten different pieces of wood together that could be really really old anytime the team finds
04:10something on the conveyor belt at the wash plant i mean we're excited but finding that rose head spike
04:15you know in karma one could be the indicator that we're looking for this could come from the 1600s
04:21or earlier this could be from the original workings of the depositors of the treasure
04:27that's a great find but that's going to go to the lab for sure and then to test that we'll
04:33keep looking
04:35meanwhile back in the money pit area right this is it looks like the last material
04:41let's go check it out let's give it one more go okay rick and the team continue to search through
04:47the final spoils retrieved from the bottom of the karma one shaft
04:51i think we've gone as fast as we can go done yeah so got one more chance on the wash
05:04plant yep
05:06what's the plan it is yep hey guys hey how you doing adam are we on bottom we're bottom and
05:17we're
05:17cleaned up and bottom is 212. missed by an inch missed by a mile yeah well we're not going to
05:24miss
05:24the next time no no we didn't find it we just move on to the next location yep literally our
05:30top pocket
05:31location was the one we're about to move to right yeah find some treasure boys two weeks ago the team
05:41began excavating a shaft known as top pocket fine located less than 10 feet northeast of karma one
05:49this shaft was positioned directly over an area where water testing had revealed a massive source of silver
05:56deep underground making it their primary target for exploration of the solution channel
06:07that doesn't sound very good but unfortunately at a depth of just 25 feet the caissons were stopped by
06:16gravel backfill from a previous dig now using rock equipment's powerful rotating oscillator
06:25the team from sp canada can resume digging the tpf chef down to the solution channel
06:32on the one hand karma one is a little disappointing but you just keep moving forward
06:37the quicker we get started the quicker we get down yep all right good thank you appreciate it thank you
06:45while the dig proceeds in the money pit area
06:49later that day hey guys hey every time i look at this i don't know what to make of it
06:57it's getting
06:58incredible it's really quite spectacular yeah rick and peter arrive on lot eight to check on the
07:04investigation of the cradle-like formation of stones that were founded beneath a 40 000 pound boulder
07:12how in the world was that made it's a 40 000 pound boulder if you were to drag it in
07:19it would destroy
07:19this i'm not thinking about how they did it as much as the why well i mean this was definitely
07:25purposeful
07:26we didn't remove any soil from down here whatsoever it was filled with rocks
07:31after removing the boulder revealed this mosaic-like stone feature archaeologist piona steel has begun
07:39removing debris and some of the stones to determine what purpose it might serve especially since the
07:46team has already detected possible evidence of a shaft and even silver in the soils below it
07:54i've worked with stone most of my life and the labor that you see in front of you is it
08:02was quite
08:02laborious it meant something to someone i think we need to do as much work as possible to address one
08:09key question what's underneath the boulder we had a lot of smaller rocks the ones that are these size
08:15all in the center and they were very loose so once i started removing them i started seeing these other
08:20rocks underneath and you can see the ones underneath are a fair bit larger in size than the ones that
08:26were actually on top and they extend all the way down here this is what's starting to produce itself
08:33as we've been excavating here i will say this that one there when i look at that the way it's
08:40positioned
08:40in this way it's very curious positioning of that yeah i still can't get out of my head the shape
08:46of
08:46these boulders that we had which were very triangular we had this big one down here and we had another
08:51big one there and a big one there and it almost felt like there was a triangle pointing down to
08:55this
08:55boulder i mean when you think about this area you think about xena's map in the december triangle
09:01this could also be related to that in 2016 the late author and researcher xena halpern shared documents
09:11with the team believed to have been created by members of the knights templar one was a 12th century
09:18map of nova scotia and the other was a map of oak island possibly dating back to 1347 astonishingly
09:28it features several locations written in french but when translated to english they marked known sites
09:35on the island such as the money pit the swamp and a site called the december triangle
09:43could the stone cradle and boulder align with the location on a possible templar map
09:50i've puzzled about whether or not this area could be referencing the so-called december triangle on xena's
09:56map i think we have to have a really proper look in the area in the vicinity of the stone
10:04and see if there's more information to be revealed that will help us understand the relationship
10:10between the drawing on xena's map and this megalithic stone structure i came across this area here
10:17of a blue light clay and you can clearly see that there are chunks of charcoal like material mixed in
10:24with this clay i'm just not convinced that this blue gray clay is natural to this area
10:31clay like this could be very similar to the clay that we find in the money pit
10:38i'm absolutely mesmerized by this this blue clay i wonder if this is very similar to the clay from
10:45the money pit on lot eight after removing some of the stones from the cradle-like feature
10:50that was covered by the massive boulder fiona has made a potentially important discovery
10:56if you look at the way the stones are now i've removed a few but it really looks like this
11:02clay
11:02material had been used to mortar in kind of a rounded section in the front of it it's absolutely
11:08intentional and purposeful and they were trying to conceal it and we did find some on lot five yeah
11:16makes it even more interesting yeah yeah yeah so this matches that then again more more connections
11:24in 1804 the onslaught company carried out the first large-scale excavation of the money pit
11:30and encountered wooden platforms every 10 feet down to the 90-foot level during the dig they also
11:38reportedly found a thick layer of handwork blue clay at the 40-foot level which they believed was used
11:44as a sealant to keep water out of the shaft in order to protect something buried deeper below
11:52curiously in recent years the team has discovered hand worked blue clay in the swamp and in the round
11:59feature on lot five if fiona is correct that she has now found the same kind of blue clay material
12:06in
12:07this stone feature on lot eight could it be more evidence that this feature was created to hide something
12:14this could be anything the reality is there are lead and silver beyond baseline values within the
12:21structure itself possibly in association with a shaft or a tunnel so we have to be patient at this point
12:29this has to be driven by the archaeological process is there anything we can do with the clay yeah we'll
12:36get a nice big chunk of that soil and then take that back to the lab and then we can
12:41run it to the
12:42xrd and see if it matches the lot five till or in the money pit till that's where it gets
12:48fun
12:48that's where it gets fun all right let's get the sample done there that's a good sample
12:55i'd like to give you this little bit here
13:00we'll need to get that to the lab as soon as we can there's a y here
13:05hopefully we can figure out what that is but i'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it but let's
13:10just
13:10keep moving this forward because we want to understand it what it may mean yeah okay we've
13:16got a plan thank you all right see you guys the next morning that's the first can yeah just started
13:29if we're going to find some top pocket vines it's got a bit is can in the money pit area
13:34rick joins
13:35other members of the team as the tpf shaft is once again being excavated in a location where the
13:42highest trace evidence of silver has been detected more than 200 feet deep in the solution channel
13:49our first 150 feet is going to be you know pretty benign but from there on it's everyone on deck
13:54and
13:54everyone keep their eyes peeled below 150 feet everything's open game here
13:59because the solution channel ranges between some 150 to 220 feet deep where the team believes the
14:08treasure has fallen after the collapse of the original money pit it may take several days before
14:14the dig reaches its target depth yeah we're going to backfill out of here down to about 150 feet
14:19we are in the area where there is evidence of the collapse the area where we have retrieved significant
14:26items so i'm hoping of course that this top pocket find location will provide the answer we all look
14:34forward to getting down to the bottom here this is the wall i sure hope you're right here the pibleto
14:41coins strongly hints that something is down there but at the end of the day we can make this happen
14:47and we will we've just got to stay the course we're just going to chew through it until we get
14:55to the
14:55treasure all right you'll see it i'll be back thank you guys later that day good morning guys hey hi
15:06morning so we have charlotte wheatley here in the war room in the war room rick craig and other members
15:13of the team are meeting with researcher charlotte wheatley charlotte she has some new information and i
15:20think today should be exceedingly interesting so having said that charlotte welcome to the war room
15:25thank you very much in light of a possible connection between the lot eight feature
15:30and xena halberd's believed 14th century templar map charlotte who is a colleague of emiliano judy
15:38and corian mall has been studying the map to look for more clues that may help verify its authenticity
15:45and how it may help solve the treasure mystery i came across this information after researching the
15:52xenomap which i've done four years research on i examined every name and place recorded on the map
15:59and one of them i found quite interesting i never heard it before was
16:05which means the lion cub of talmud what was interesting for me is how could talmud connect to
16:11the islands there is a place in france called talmud so talmud is on the west coast of france it
16:21is a
16:21small fishing port one of the nicest features of talmud is a beautiful medieval church and it's dedicated to
16:29lesser known female saints called a radical it's got a very simple interior typical of cistercian
16:35influence it was built in the 11th to 12th century by benedictine monks the benedictines
16:42are a catholic religious order that was founded in the sixth century and adhered to what was known as
16:49the rule of saint benedict a moral code for leading a faithful and productive life these writings
16:56inspired the formation of an order of monks known as the cistercians in 1098 and one of their most
17:04noted leaders was bernard of clairvaux who co-founded the knight's templar in 1119. the church was fortified
17:13so that actually meant that they used it not only as a church but also as a as a fort
17:18which is not a
17:19common thing on churches in france how does this connect to oak island and why the lion cub
17:24the time the lion cub of talmud really interestingly they used to be a very intriguing feature that
17:33resembled the sphinx and was actually known as the sphinx of talmud and as you can see it is a
17:40sphinx
17:40like shape sadly um it was destroyed in the early 20th century so there's nothing left
17:46today there is nothing left and the church itself used to overlook the sphinx so it makes sense that this
17:52could actually be the the lion cub of talmud oh so what interested me is that the church itself
18:02it's actually you used to be pointing towards where the sphinx was at roughly a 292.4 degree angle
18:09and when you follow the line of the church going through the front door and continue on a straight
18:14line when you go across the atlantic you end up on their current
18:22if that was one coincidence that's fine what gets quite creepy is that about 60 kilometers away i come
18:30across another chapel which is located in a place called court and it is also dedicated to the same saint
18:36to saint radivans the church itself is act the angle of 292.1 degrees and when you follow that line
18:46from the back of the church in a perfectly straight direction you arrive on the cone
18:53whoa and again this church was built by the same people who built the other church and in between both
18:59churches there is another radical church and this is actually located in a town of the same name called
19:07saint radivans and it's orientated at a 292.1 degree angle so but if you follow the acts of the
19:14church in a perfectly straight direction we arrive again on the islands it's odd for sure so we have
19:21three churches under the same paint village built by the same group of people locating the 60 kilometer
19:27radius all on the west coast of france these three churches are pointing towards the islands
19:33it's interesting
19:37these two churches are pointing towards the islands so three points dedicated to the same lady built by
19:44the same group of people in the war room researcher charlotte wheatley is presenting new information
19:51about three potentially templar related churches in the region of talmond france that she believes
19:58are located on a east to west line that leads directly to oak island it just can't be coincidence
20:07i have tested this theory on lots of churches in france and this doesn't happen
20:13so i've asked other researchers to check if the alignment seemed correct
20:17and they all agree that these three buildings seem to be perfectly aligned with the islands
20:21talking about when was that built same period we're talking about 13th 12 13th century yeah yeah
20:28it's curious it is the alignment charlotte mentions that's incredibly curious were the alignments with
20:36the church is purposeful there perhaps are alignments that we are currently unaware of with other features
20:43on the island lot five lot eight the bog the money pit is there a connection here so i decided
20:52to take a
20:53look at the actual patron of these churches saint radigan's she was born around the year 520 and she
21:01actually wanted to dedicate her life to becoming a holy woman she made a monastery and she turned it into
21:09a
21:09sort of place of learning prayer and pilgrimage born into a royal family in the german land of thuringia
21:17radigund became a devout christian nun and emigrated to france where she founded the catholic abbey of the
21:25holy cross in the city of pontiers in 552 a.d a sacred site which reportedly houses a piece of
21:35the so-called
21:35true cross on which jesus was crucified and this is the thing that really got me is that when i
21:43did
21:43research on her i noticed that she's known to carry a book and she's known to carry a book with
21:51a four-dot cross
21:57i've looked at lots of iconography of saints this is the only saint i found who's presented with a book
22:05with a four-dot cross in recent years the team has visited numerous former strongholds of the knights
22:13templar in france italy denmark and portugal i think something pretty interesting oh and in each
22:25location they have seen prominent carvings of crosses surrounded by four dots we have a four-dot cross
22:32there in the corner oh wow that some experts have interpreted to signify where the templar order
22:38hid sacred religious treasures curiously that same symbol was found by searchers on the so-called
22:46h.o stone in 1921 on oak island has charlotte found new clues on zina halpern's map that may help
22:56verify a true connection to ancient templar related sites in europe and suggest it may be a key to
23:03locating where something of great or sacred value lies hidden on the island the uh h.o stone that had
23:12the uh cross with the four dots i'm just wondering if continued research on that end can also tie those
23:19symbols with those churches yes and i think maybe that's worth looking into if the connection that
23:25you're suggesting does exist then the map does have a piece of information that is connected possibly to
23:32oak island that's right yeah so it is possible and it needs further developments it would be interesting
23:38to have a look on the island maybe there's another h.o stone out there that's fair yeah but the
23:45question
23:45is what happened here i don't know i'm gonna say the biggest mystery in the universe isn't it really
23:52i would like to think what happened here that this is a sacred place and it was chosen for a
23:57reason
23:58and i obviously hope there's something buried here and i hope you're going to find out with your help
24:03we will we say thank you thank you thank you thank you very much
24:12as a new morning dawns on oak island here we go we're moving on down yeah we got another load
24:20coming up
24:21in the money pit area gary terry and jack continue to monitor the dick in the tpf shaft we're slowly
24:30nearing the zone of interest in top pocket find one and i'm very hopeful that we're going to find
24:36clear evidence of the collapse of the money pit and find something really valuable down in the solution
24:47channel oh what the stop it's caving geez there's material popping in because the ground has suddenly
25:02begun to give way around the tpf shaft the team from sp canada and rock equipment will need to move
25:09the
25:10oscillator to find out if they can safely continue the excavation wow this is not good we felt the
25:20ground shake and you can see that the ground around the oscillator has given weight there's been a
25:27collapse okay come on holy cow it looks like we might have lost ground did we yeah we're losing stuff
25:35down
25:35below wow wow we're losing stuff down below in the money pit area after reaching a depth of some 105
25:47feet in the tpf shaft the surrounding earth has suddenly begun to cave in meaning a dangerous collapse
25:56could follow going at this depth it's a lot of wear and tear on everything there's a ton of friction
26:01there's a ton of stuff in the ground like we've seen settlement on the outside of the casing we did
26:05see from the table the can was a little bit shaky yep it's more of settlement from all the other
26:11work
26:11that's been done around it and the lighter material goes down as we agitate all the way down at the
26:17oscillator it's dropping all the material through the bigger holes and slots i remember the last time
26:22there was a collapse in this area it looks the same last year the collapse went straight down the side
26:27of the casing you know it was running full depth hey we got a problem we're having caving one year
26:35ago
26:35the earth surrounding the tb1 caisson located less than 20 feet to the northwest suddenly began to cave in
26:43and for safety the team had to abandon the excavation of the shaft now sb canada and rock equipment must
26:52act
26:53quickly to prevent a larger collapse and allow the team to keep digging where they have found the most
26:59compelling evidence of treasure in the solution channel this is only about 10 12 feet up at the top
27:05so it's perfect time to build it back up we're back filling that'll solve that yep yep that'll tighten it
27:11up you got large diameter solid metal tubes being driven down into the ground and we've got a lot of
27:17activity going on where basically we have some cave-ins these types of things they create a lot of
27:23havoc there's material moving in and out away from the actual case on itself we have to mitigate those
27:30we have to push material back down into the hole because it's collapsed down in and around the case
27:35on as we're pushing it down now we've got this stabilizing everything from 108 all the way up so i
27:41see
27:42we're going to pack a little bit around it right now and then we move on right yep we're getting
27:45ready
27:45to transition between the bigger casing to the smaller case okay good so it's telescoping time
27:50now essentially you know avoid all the problems for splitting the hole in two right right half the
27:55bigger casing takes the top half out 22 goes in finished it off what's the reason for changing to
28:01a smaller case on see the material that we're going through we're going through hundreds of feet of this
28:05stuff so it relieves all that tension and whatever it takes to get down whatever it takes to get down
28:11there once sb canada fills in the collapsed areas around the eight foot diameter tpf shaft with gravel
28:19backfill they will continue the dig down to the solution channel using smaller seven foot diameter steel
28:27caissons this will safely allow them to dig below the collapsed region and reach their target depth
28:34anything and everything to assure that we're going to get all the way down to 220 that's the
28:38whatever it takes get down there get deep find gary's treasure i love it see some of those top
28:44pocket vines when we get caissons down very near the solution channel things start to collapse i've seen
28:52it i've seen it collapse and collapse again and every time it was when we got close we got close
28:58to the
28:58bottom so that's why i think it's entirely possible that's where a treasure fell to so you absolutely
29:06have to get to at least 220 feet on all of these yeah it looks like they're almost done so
29:13why don't
29:13we head back to the table sounds good yeah see you guys later guys guys rock on as the dig
29:20operation
29:20proceeds in the money pit area hey carmen appreciate you stopping by you got something to show me we do
29:28in the oak island lab alex and members of the team are meeting with blacksmithing expert carmen leg
29:36they have invited him back to examine the rose head spike retrieved from the karma one spoils
29:42two days ago carmen this spike was found by the wash plant team in the spoils of the karma one
29:49caisson
29:49emma you have some analysis of this spike compositionally it's a kind of unique iron what's
29:56unique about it that is that it has an exceptionally high phosphorus content so it categorizes cold
30:01short meaning it's brittle in colder climates cold short or cold brittle it's when an iron has a high
30:07phosphorus content which affects its strength in cold climates cold short iron is a great indicator for
30:14an iron age because now in modern times we can control the effects of phosphorus as it's a trait that
30:20we just don't want um it does have some trace amounts of manganese but even higher amounts of sulfur so
30:28it's a weird mixture within a composition so the most likely date is mid 1700s at least wow so carmen
30:38what
30:39can you tell us well it's a square shank spike i'm gonna say it was probably five or six inches
30:47long
30:49originally it's hard to see the head on this but it looks like it's very crudely made it doesn't have
30:54any form to it uh what does it show on the skin emma well it's just basically smushed down mushroom
31:01yeah
31:02but it's not formed it was driven straight down and the fibers are all split out like mushroom
31:08this is a piece of something larger and they took it drove it into something so probably the reason they
31:14reused it is because it broke so an improvised spike yeah i think they really used it and just
31:19smashed it into something this came from where we do know for a fact it came from below 167 feet
31:24so to me that means that it's deeper than any searchers have reached especially in that area
31:29which makes it very interesting yeah these are typically used for planking you know not for the
31:35main structures or anything but oftentimes when they were making large boxes or vaults that leads me to
31:40think that this was used to build a wooden vault or some sort of structure down below for safekeeping
31:46something this is something that you would see oftentimes when they were making large boxes or
31:56vaults or something they wanted to keep safe some valuable they wanted to keep safe that'd be good
32:02that is what we're looking for in the oak island lab carmen leg is examining a potentially mid-18th
32:10century spike that was recovered from nearly 170 feet deep in the karma one shaft this is something
32:18that was reused you know any effort here on the island was obviously done in secret if there was a
32:24deposit made they had to use what they brought and this is sort of speaking to that emma is there
32:30enough wiggle room in that early date to include 1746 absolutely well that's interesting because that
32:37uh allows for the possibility of the duke d'enville because we're talking about one ship that got
32:42separated from the main fleet that decided it most prudent to bury what they were carrying so it didn't
32:48fall into enemy hands so they would have had to work with what they had on that one ship could
32:52doug be
32:53correct that the team may have found a new clue linking possible buried treasure in the money pit
32:58to the duke d'enville an 18th century french noble whose family had links to the knights templar
33:07in 2017 doug found part of a ship's log in the nova scotia archives that described the burial of treasure
33:15in a deep pit on an island in this area back in 1746 the log was reportedly written by a
33:23crew member
33:24under the duke d'enville's command this little spike is maybe telling us that our theory about
33:31the collapse is correct and that we're close because we're picking up traces of something from
33:35the original money pit so we would be then looking at just remnants of things that didn't make it all
33:41the way down there and it collapsed so even though we didn't hit the treasure in karma finding this spike
33:46tells us that we were close yeah the hope is if it is something from the money pit if it
33:53is something
33:53from a chest or a box to me it speaks to the possibility that other things will be found
34:01that could be the source of the silver concentrations that are indicated by the soil samples and the water
34:07samples at this location and hopefully there's something down there in the top pocket find one
34:12it's very interesting so you know thank you both for your analysis i think it says we're on the right
34:18track and we need to keep going so that said we will try to bring you guys some more to
34:23look at
34:24very good thank you see you later later that day
34:32while the excavation of the tbf shaft continues in the money pit area
34:39how's it going hey rick we just lifted a couple more rocks all right and under those rocks we're
34:45getting organics i gotta get down there go for it rick joins jack and the archaeology team as they
34:52continue excavating the cradle-like formation of stones on lot eight no idea how deep
34:59no yeah yeah no but it's giving us reason to keep going so we're going to try to expose the
35:05base and
35:05then work our way up to see how it was built do you think what you're calling the second level
35:12is that
35:13natural or those placed as well no i think they're still all placed right now this seems to be
35:22firmly affixed i can't get it out we're all curious you know i can give it a try i'm not
35:27saying i can
35:27do it though yeah what's on what's on really you come this way i'll go that way i'll disturb those
35:42oh no that one's there oh there's no gift to that that's amazing they are locked in there
35:49tight lot eight it presents all kinds of possibilities one of which has to include
35:56that zenith's map may have some relevance here oh boy that's in there whether because this
36:03construction was some sort of alignment or maybe there's something under there we need to figure out
36:10what this construction represents oh wow that that is definitely in there yeah i think that's in there
36:19i think that could be redeposited in this i think it is it's embedded no i really want it out
36:24they're fixed in there quite tight yeah scrape this stuff yeah it almost looks like some sort of hard
36:32clay yeah it's uh i would put a little chunk like that some water and see what its consistency turns
36:41into
36:41you it might be able to reconstitute it as it was used yeah a little water there joe yeah see
36:50if it turns
36:50into anything okay thank you
37:00is it turning into like a clay well like a almost like almost a little bit like cement yeah now
37:08that
37:08looks like cement yeah this is unbelievable
37:16now that looks like cement yeah that's why this held right yeah and this is just all filled in
37:24that's what you see here oh yeah on lot eight rick has just discovered evidence that the stones
37:30which were uncovered below the massive boulder appear to have been set in place with man-made mortar or cement
37:41once it dries i'll bet it adheres perfectly to that really gritty cement yep then you wouldn't think
37:49when you break it apart right now it's just sand yeah i bet there's a lot of calcium carbonate in
37:54here
37:55when you compare this elementally to cement through the ages i think you're going to get a fairly
38:03accurate date like from roman cement on forward be interesting to see which kind of cement this
38:11matches oh yeah that would be interesting that would be crazy yeah because different types of concrete
38:19mixtures have been used throughout the ages of human construction dating back as far as ancient egypt
38:26could determining the contents of this material help the team approximate when this feature was created
38:33i believe the mortar or the cement like material might reveal a wind maybe even tell us where does it
38:41come from is there a cultural association hopefully there can be some answers derived from this analysis
38:49that mixture might be quite revealing it resembles uh a lot five on the semicircular feature yeah yeah it looks
38:57a lot like the clay we found there what turned out to correlate with the maroon till from the money
39:02pit
39:02yeah yeah it'll be interesting to see how it tests yeah well if it corresponds to those two
39:07you've got something big on your hands yep oh look at that in addition to the blue clay
39:14found on lot five and reportedly by earlier searchers in the money pit the laginas and their team have also
39:22discovered a similar looking mortar-like material in the round feature on lot five that matched
39:28soil samples for more than 100 feet deep in the money pit area it's all smeared all through here
39:37so if the team can match this cement material on lot eight to those structures could that mean all three
39:44may have been built by the same people to move a 40 000 pound rock into a position on a
39:51nicely crafted
39:52rock cradle i mean you have to come up with a theory as to why somebody was moved to move
39:59that boulder
40:00and maybe they were trying to hide something very important what in the heck went on on this island
40:06uh it just raises the mystery to new levels there was a reason for this and it wasn't just to
40:14support
40:14that boulder it could go deeper it could yeah and the archaeology will tell okay well you know what i'm
40:22gonna let you two get back to work all right i have a feeling those rocks are gonna need a
40:27little bit
40:28of persuasion to come on there yeah i'll do my best okay all right thank you look by digging in
40:36the ground
40:36and far back into history rick marty craig and their team are finding mounting evidence that people
40:45journeyed to oak island long ago to hide precious and perhaps sacred secrets and through patience and
40:53tireless effort they may have identified not only structures that those people inhabited but now at
41:01least two other locations where those secrets could lie buried so as the team looks deeper have they
41:11uncovered the final barriers between them and the ultimate answers or will they encounter something
41:19much harder to break through than bedrock and concrete next time on the curse of oak island
41:34broken through it into the solution channel that's what we're looking for
41:37the three churches have exactly the same stellar alignment of lock five this could be a tunnel
41:45shaft entrance maybe it's just right under here a piece of wood what's wood doing down that day
41:49maybe this wood came from the original money pit if there's wood at the top maybe there's gold at
41:53the bottom possibly treasure on deck what have we got here
