We got a close-up look at Valo from Vertical Aerospace in NYC, and while it wasn't a proper outdoor demonstration, you can't help but dream of the day it takes minutes vs hours to get to JFK from Manhattan.

The company claims that upon achieving certification to operate, the price per mile per rider will be on par with Uber Black.

00:00Forget Uber Black, this air taxi claims it's going to be as cheap per mile per seat while
00:04getting you to your destination faster, so let's check it out. This is the Vertical Aerospace Velo,
00:10an electric air taxi built for short trips in and around major cities. Because it takes off
00:15and lands vertically, it can use much of the infrastructure that already exists without
00:21needing runways or brand new airports. It has a cruising speed of around 150 miles per hour and
00:26a range of about 100 miles, ideal for short urban hops or regional connections. So right now to
00:33start, they have it in a four seat configuration, but down the line, they could offer up to six so
00:37you can have even more passengers. The big idea here is to cut down on those trips that are slow
00:42and inefficient. Things like airport transfers with big cities like Manhattan and JFK could take
00:47minutes instead of sitting in traffic for what feels like hours. And of course, crosstown hops
00:52without getting stuck in gridlock. The company Vertical is still going through its certification
00:57in different regions with the goal of entering service sometime around 2028 or 2029 after they
01:04get approval. Again, this isn't about replacing every car or every flight. It's about targeting the
01:09specific trips where time saving actually can make a big difference. Again, this isn't flying passengers
01:15just yet, but this is one of the most finished real world air taxis I have ever seen up close.
01:21And be sure to
01:22stick around for the next video because I'll explain how the tech in here could make this cheaper than
01:26your next Uber ride to the airport.
