A blind man named Elias walks Badagry beach each dawn, unknowingly catching the attention of Mami Wata, a sea goddess who’s used to men wanting her wealth, not her. He hears her where others only see treasure, and she falls for him because he listens without greed — but her love is still possessive, and she unwittingly lures him into the water to his death.
The story becomes a tragedy about the gap between mortal and divine love: she finally learns grief, guilt, and what it means to love without owning, while his spirit lingers as a listener beneath the waves, and she sings to him for eternity, too late to save him but forever changed.
