00:00I'm going to guess you didn't like the Hombrero, Ron.
00:03I'm going to guess you didn't like it.
00:04I don't know, man.
00:05It's, it's, um, I just respected the Astros as they waited so long
00:11that they didn't do the props home run celebrations.
00:15Like it just, it's like that damn Miami turnover chain just,
00:19just took over and then everybody just started doing stuff like that
00:23in every sport.
00:24And I respect it that they did that.
00:26And then it just looks cheap.
00:30And it's just like, yo, Doug, who, cause I want to know who did it.
00:34Who is the son of a gun that rolled up?
00:37I heard a story.
00:37I don't know if it's true, but I heard a story.
00:40I'll give you one guess.
00:41I heard a story.
00:42I don't know if it's true or not.
00:43I'm going to give you a guess.
00:44Each of y'all get a guess.
00:49Is it a prominent player?
00:50I would say so.
00:51Okay.
00:56This, this feels like this has, God, who's goofy?
01:04Um, I'm going to guess Lance McCullough.
01:06No.
01:07Okay.
01:07No, but I was going to go.
01:08Lance is a lot cooler than that.
01:10I was going to go Christian Walker.
01:12God, you think Christian Walker's corny?
01:15I feel like, I, I, I feel like he, I feel like he'd have word on the street is it
01:19was
01:19East sock parade.
01:21Wanted, wanted something, needed to add a little something.
01:24So they, they eased up to the, the fan, the fan shop and bought this.
01:28I don't know him that well.
01:29Look, I, I just, I just don't, I'm not in love with the hat.
01:33I damn sure don't like them wearing that hat out in public.
01:35Just like I didn't like Kamari Lasseter and Kalen Bullock wearing the Texans cowboy hat
01:39over in at the rodeo.
01:40I'm not a big fan of that, but, but they're onto something.
01:43The, the, the cowboy hat, the calling it the ombrero, the hombrero, they're onto something.
01:50I think they can build.
01:51So I really, I really liked it.
01:52Yeah.
01:53I'm surprised.
01:54Now the part that, that, I mean, nobody, nobody can hate or dislike about last night was Spencer
02:00Eric Getty's performance.
02:02Ron Spencer Eric Getty last night was just what the doctor ordered in a major, major way.
02:09Um, not all, I mean, just in itself, six innings, 10 strikeouts.
02:15What was it?
02:15One run.
02:16Yep.
02:17One, uh, there's a little, little blemish there.
02:19Here goes Tiger again.
02:19Beep, beep.
02:20There there's two hits that there's a little blemish there with four walks.
02:23Um, but, but what, what he was able to do last night in itself was a, a tremendous first
02:30start this season.
02:32Um, it was exactly what the doctor ordered for the Houston Astros.
02:37It was exactly what the doctor ordered for me as an Astros fan.
02:40I needed to see that.
02:41Right.
02:42And then, which I don't typically do usually sometimes before the game's over as of late,
02:47it's been a lot of times before the game's over, but I don't typically listen to the post
02:54game interview with Julia Morales and whoever she gets.
02:57No disrespect.
02:58I just, I'm quick to turn the channel and catch something else.
03:00Yeah, I had to listen to it last night and I was, um, I was very pleased.
03:09Spencer, I've been a Spencer Arigeti fan.
03:12Um, I've, I've, I've wanted him to, to have big nights and be better and be a part of this,
03:18this starting rotation.
03:19I feel like he's got what it takes.
03:21And then last night when I heard him talk to Julia Morales, I was like, you know, I like
03:25the confidence.
03:26I liked a little bit of dog that he showed here.
03:28Here's Spencer Arigeti talking directly after the game with Julia Morales.
03:32I needed that one the most I've ever needed it in my career.
03:35Honestly, uh, obviously I was upset when I didn't make the team out of camp.
03:39I knew that there was going to be opportunities for me down the line.
03:41I'm just glad I could come make the most of it tonight and, uh, try to do what I could
03:44for the bullpen and do what I could to give the team a chance to.
03:47Upset when I didn't make the team out of camp.
03:49Um, you should have been, you know, that, well, that, that, but just that typically
03:53just saying that right there is like, okay, he's a, no, but you, you got to know, you,
03:57you got to understand that this is a guy that's pitched.
04:01That's a small sample size, but it, but it's a bigger sample size than some of these other
04:04guys.
04:05He's been pretty damn good at the major league level with this organization.
04:09And for them to then go out in a year where Frambo moves on and they sign a couple of
04:15guys and Mike Burroughs is your number two starter, Christian Javier coming back off injuries
04:21three and MI, uh, touch you.
04:23I, MI is your number four starter and he's sent to sugar land.
04:29That's got to make you feel some kind of way.
04:31And, and, and for him to voice that and just say, look, I was upset when I didn't make this,
04:36this opening day roster, but I knew there was going to be opportunities.
04:39So I stuck with it.
04:40And then to come out there and, and when your team, when the organization needed it desperately,
04:44but then to come out there and pitch the way that he pitched, Ron, that was, uh, that,
04:50that was special.
04:50Here's the question.
04:52Here's what did it do for you?
04:547, 1, 3, 5, 7, 2, 4, 6, 10 Houston.
04:56What, what did Spencer Arrighetti's performance do for you last night?
05:01Um, I'm going to tell you again, given where we are, I understand.
05:06I'm not saying this is, this is world series caliber stuff, but given where we are, how
05:12does this touch you?
05:13This is immediately where I went.
05:15Always think of Hunter Brown's going to be back and he's going to be Hunter Brown at some
05:18point.
05:18All right.
05:19And now as we navigate through these, this adversity here, what does a start and rotation
05:24look like?
05:25And it most importantly, what does the top three in a rotation look like?
05:28Hunter Brown, Lance McCullers, and Spencer Arrighetti.
05:31I'm not, I'm not calling world series run.
05:35I'm not over, I'm not over valuing or overthinking this thing, but given what we've seen from
05:40Lance McCullers and what we just saw from Spencer Arrighetti, I can at the very least get excited
05:44about the Astros rotation and what could, what, what, what is to come down the, down the way.
05:51If, if Hunter Brown gets back sooner rather than later.
05:53Well, I think, I think the one thing we've learned and yes, I said it earlier, I am absolutely
06:01going over the top off, off of one start.
06:03Yeah, but I am as well.
06:04When you look at everything that we have seen thus far, and I know it's early, but we can
06:11look at some of the, like, we can look at some of this.
06:14I can tell you, I can look at Christian Javier who was injured and we'll see him when he gets
06:18back potentially, I can look at Emai who is injured right now, but obviously going through
06:25more than just an injury right now, which is affecting his pitching.
06:30We can look at, uh, Burroughs.
06:33We can look at Lance.
06:34We can look at who was that Cody Bolton guy.
06:38Got it.
06:38Got him a start.
06:39We can look at all of these guys.
06:42There is no way that there is not a spot just off the one start.
06:47I know it's just one start, but it's not really just one start.
06:50He has actually been pitching well in Sugar Land too.
06:53His four starts, ERA well under one or well under two, excuse me.
06:59There's no way he is.
07:01He is not one of the best five.
07:03Like it's, and I know it's one start.
07:05We've seen all this.
07:05There's, there's no way that he is not someone based off what we've seen that can be one of
07:11their top five in the rotation.
07:13They can at least, cause right now outside of Hunter Brown, whenever he gets back, man,
07:18they're, they're just looking for guys that can give them quality.
07:21And I don't, and I don't mean quality starts as the six innings in three or less.
07:25I'm just talking about quality major league starting pitching that it gives them in this
07:31offensive chance in games.
07:33And we saw his swing and miss stuff.
07:36We saw, I mean, 10, 10 strike.
07:38I mean, how many, how many do there's no way through the two and a half or whatever starts
07:43that Christian Javier's got 10 strikeouts.
07:45Like combined.
07:46There's there, I mean, there's no way there may be some other guys.
07:49I don't even know if he has 10 outs.
07:51Total outs.
07:52I think he does.
07:53He's, he's, he's gotten into the fourth a couple of times, but like, like, uh, he might
07:59a same one.
08:00I don't know.
08:00Does he have 10 strikeouts total on the season?
08:02It's just, but you can just look at that and see like that guy, that guy belongs in
08:08the top five and he will at least give you starts.
08:11Now he may blow up a couple of times, but I, like, I, I think he's going to more or
08:15less
08:15give you a shot.
08:16And that's all really the thing they're looking for right now.
08:18Yeah.
08:19I just, I mean, you got to squint hard, you got to squint real hard, but if you look down
08:22and
08:22you got a hundred Brown, Lance McCullers, Spencer, Eric Getty, you mentioned, uh, I'm not completely
08:26out on, on the, on the other guys, Mike Burrows and, and, uh, and touchy, I am I, I mean,
08:30you
08:30start, you got to squint hard now, but you, you get a couple of guys that pitch well, that
08:34you've seen pitch well for an extended period of time, extended period of time being, meaning
08:37part of a season, not a, not a career.
08:39Um, then, then I, I'm a little more comfortable and I can see the light at the end of the
08:44tunnel.
08:44Hopefully that hopefully that is the case.
08:46Hopefully Hunter Brown gets healthy and, uh, and, and Lance keeps rolling and then, and then
08:50we can be on to something here.
08:51So we'll, uh, we'll see.
08:53I just know, I just know watching Spencer Eric Getty last night and hearing Spencer Eric
08:59Getty last night was, uh, was a beautiful sight.
09:02It made my Astros heart happy.
09:03There ain't no doubt about that.
09:04Hey, talking about, uh, Tetsuya, am I, and, and, and, uh, I did not know this boys.
09:08I did not know this until we had, uh, Robert Flores on yesterday.
09:11And then Ron even pointed out, I didn't hear it at the time, to be honest with you, but I
09:15did.
09:15There's obviously some major differences between America and Japan, right?
09:19Playing ball in the U S and playing ball in, in, in, in Japan is obviously different.
09:24I had no idea that the, um, that the size of the ball is, uh, is totally different.
09:31Did you guys know it was not totally different, but it is different.
09:34Yes, sir.
09:34The official Japanese ball, which is Mizuno, by the way, um, is slightly smaller.
09:41It's slightly harder and it's tackier for better pitching control.
09:48See the tackier.
09:49That's a, that's, they just skipped the spider tack, uh, step we got here in America.
09:53Yeah.
09:54They just hadn't outlawed it yet.
09:55Hell with it.
09:55They outlawed it.
09:56They've made it a part of the damn ball.
09:59I tell you, that's what Garrett Cole wants to get over.
10:01Yeah.
10:01Shout out to the rep of himself.
10:03That's crazy.
10:03The, the, the, the strike zone in Japan, um, taller and tighter, not quite as wide, but
10:10definitely, definitely a little taller, which I could probably get down with that.
10:14I think, I think, uh, I think, I think pitch is thrown just, but just below the, the, the,
10:19the chest or it should be a strike.
10:22Hmm.
10:23And not as wide.
10:24Yeah.
10:25Not, not as wide, not as wide.
10:26And don't forget they eat dinner at a different time over there too.
10:31Yeah.
10:31The, the, the, uh, the, the, the, the, the,
10:33the league itself, the, the Japanese league.
10:35Did you know they play 12 innings?
10:37I did not know that.
10:38Interesting.
10:39Three outs an inning.
10:41They've played 12 in 12 innings or 15 innings in the post season.
10:46Wow.
10:46I didn't, I had no idea about that.
10:48That's interesting.
10:49Like that's not extras.
10:50It's they, they play, they play to 12.
10:52They play to 12.
10:53I believe.
10:53Why would anybody want that?
10:54How long are those games?
10:55I mean, I guess it works for them, man.
10:57You said you Americans are lazy.
10:59No, no ghost runner on second base in extra innings.
11:02That's right.
11:02They only play 143 games versus 162 games.
11:0728 man active roster compared to 26 in major league baseball.
11:10Let's be sitting over there in the ninth.
11:11Like, where the hell are we going?
11:14I mean, that's a long game.
11:16Their game's a little bit more.
11:17I'd appreciate this.
11:19Their game's a little more focused on small ball, Ron.
11:21Bunting base running, situational hitting.
11:24And, uh, smaller fields, smaller balls.
11:27Look out, Tyler.
11:30That's, that's fair.
11:32They must be doing steroids.
11:33That'll deflate you, you know?
11:34Well, here you go.
11:35This is where, while major league baseball prioritizes power hitting and high velocity pitching.
11:39So you could imagine the training, the pitching that the training, the training that the pitchers go through, which MI
11:45is figuring out right now, is probably a slightly different, a little more taxing on the arm.
11:50Damn it.
11:52Yeah.
11:53That's, uh, that's too bad, man.
11:56Rarely boo in Japan, by the way.
11:58They're generally more respectful.
12:01Tyler, you would not fit in at the, uh, the games in Japan.
12:04My guy, Roll Flo would fit right in.
12:06That rarely boo thing, he might have to deal with that.
