Check out the incredible moment a powerful supercell thunderstorm illuminates the sky with continuous lightning during twilight.
Maximilian Ziegler, from Germany, captured the dramatic time-lapse near Reutlingen along the Swabian Jura in southwest Germany.
The footage showcases a large rotating supercell storm during the “blue hour,” as the sky is painted in soft pink and purple hues from the setting sun.
The massive cloud structure, often described as a “mothership,” dominates the horizon with its layered, billowing form and expansive anvil.
Inside the storm’s core, frequent bursts of intra-cloud lightning flash rapidly, creating a glowing effect that pulses through the cloud.
The isolated storm tracks steadily across the landscape, producing a high-frequency lightning display that turns the sky into a natural light show.
He said: “It was an incredible storm with constant lightning lighting up the entire sky.”
Viewers were left amazed by the electrifying display in the comments.
One wrote: “Wow, looks awesome, really like a disco ball at full power.”
Another added: “Such incredibly beautiful scenes can be captured during thunderstorms.”
