00:00More than 277,000 people have crossed from Lebanon into Syria since early March,
00:06as tensions escalate and cross-border violence continues.
00:10The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria says
00:14this is placing severe strain on Syria's fragile infrastructure
00:18and its already limited humanitarian capacity.
00:23The United Nations Refugee Agency says around 234,000 of those arrivals are Syrian nationals.
00:29Including about 67,000 who are returning home permanently.
00:33It adds that roughly 43,000 are Lebanese nationals,
00:37many of them also seeking safety from the ongoing violence.
00:41The Commission says many of those crossing remain deeply affected by years of conflict in Syria,
00:47as well as recent shelling while still in Lebanon.
00:50It warns that millions across Syria continue to rely on humanitarian aid,
00:55with services now under further pressure from the growing influx.
